"Heeding the archsage Athos's advice, Eliwood sets out for Bern. Bern: the greatest military force on the continent. The Lycian League has always enjoyed close relations with the kingdom of Bern. Recently, however, King Desmond has begun to flaunt his military strength. Lycian nobles can no longer move freely within Bern's borders. Eliwood and his group enter the country in the guise of simple travelers." David said. "It's not much of a problem for us, but man… I didn't think it would be like this."
"Yeah...looks like everyone here is so busy." Jexi said. "Wonder what the big deal is."
"The big deal is that the prince of Bern's coming-of-age ceremony starts in ten days." Jade said.
"Coming of Age Ceremony?" Hope said. "Oh, so it's like the crowning of a new ruler."
"Not like...that's exactly what it is." Sectonia said.
"So, Hawkeye...did Athos mention where we're supposed to find this shrine?" Pit asked.
"I've heard it's north of Bern. But the location of the shrine itself is secret. I doubt if anyone outside the royal family knows how to reach it." Hawkeye said.
"So what can we do? It's not like we can just walk up to any of the Bern royal family and ask for directions." Glimmer said.
"Perhaps I can help in some way." said Pent appearing behind them.
"Pent? Has he been with us since the castle?!" Glimmer said shocked.
"I'm privy to the highest secrets of military information in Etruria. When we learned of the shrine's existence, we investigated. However, none of our operatives returned. Bern's defenses are formidable." Pent said.
"So...we're just as executable as any other citizen?" Titanica asked.
"Most likely. And if your identities are discovered, Bern will see it as an excuse to invade Lycia." Pent said. "Especially those of our three lords."
"So we'll have to keep our identities secret until we can get closer to the royal family." Lyndis said.
"Though there is one other thing to remember. The Headquarters of the Black Fang is also here in Bern." Pent said.
"So were dangerously close to the enemy's base." Vashryon said.
"Don't underestimate them. They are more dangerous here. We'll likely be running into the Four Fangs while here in Bern." Legault said.
"The Four Fangs?" Jexi said.
"They're the four strongest warriors within the Black Fang. They make the commanders and soldiers you fought so far look like children." Legault said.
"This may sound arrogant, but we're not too worried." Shuichi said.
"Why are you so calm about facing these enemies?" Heath asked.
"Let's just say that we've dealt with them like many times before." Sachiko said. "So many times that we sometimes have to remind ourselves to breathe."
"So don't worry about us. We'll be fine." Hope assured.
"If you say so." Hector nodded.
As they were about to leave a nearby village, a number of the villagers hurried inside as a number of soldiers entered.
"Speak of the devils." Zoro said.
"It figures we'd get attacked, we are on the Black Fangs home turf." Hope said.
"Okay...so this is them huh?" said a young blond man with a sword by his side.
"So they sent him." Legault said.
"Who's he, Legault?" Leanne asked.
"Lloyd Reed. He's one of the Four Fangs." Legault said.
"Doesn't change the fact that we're going to pass him and his soldiers." Jexi said.
"Oh is that right? Go ahead and fight them." Lloyd Reed said as the soldiers charged.
"Here they come, get ready!" Vashyron said as the battle began. The groups worked together and fought back against Lloyd Reed's forces, but they wouldn't let up.
"Well...seems this is getting interesting." Lloyd Reed said watching before deciding to head in himself.
"Forget the soldiers. We need to take him down before we can even move on." Jexi said.
"Okay you. Before this happens, we have to know...why do you do this for that man?" Tanjiro said.
"This has nothing to do with Nergal or Sonia. We simply complete the missions given us." Lloyd Reed said.
"What? But…don't you have any free will?" Glimmer asked.
"Who are we to pass judgment on the commands given us? We are the jaw that bites. We act without question." Lloyd Reed said.
"I admire your loyalty. Unfortunately, your leader has no regard for your well-being if he sends you against us." Leopardmon said.
"He's got a point, you know. Nergal doesn't care for his soldiers. He practically sent you on a suicide mission." Lloyd Irving said.
"So what? The Fang's judgment cannot be undone. It's time for you all to die." Lloyd Reed said.
"For you, unfortunately." Omnimon said.
"We're ready for you. Raise your sword, Lloyd Reed!" Saber declared.
Lloyd Reed simply smirked as he charged at them before being cut into multiple times by the sword wielding warriors while walking out having fought his hardest. "Sorry...Linus. Looks like...I'm not coming back." he said before falling dead on the ground.
"It sucks seeing such dedication so wasted." David said.
"The brother's Reed always dispenses the Fang's justice." Legault said. "That is what we always said about him and his brother. We shouldn't stick around for too long."
"All the time he was fighting us...I noticed he avoided some of our defenseless members and some villagers." Tanjiro said as they headed off.
"He probably had his own code to follow." Hope said. "He may have been the enemy, but he was honorable. He didn't look to take down any Villager or our support members."
"Not sure if it was a code. I think he knew they had nothing to do with any of this." Jexi said. "He wanted to make sure no one he thought was innocent was hurt. In a sense, I respect that."
"Yes but now...we should be going. I was recently contacted by my wife Louise. The Royal Family is looking for a relic that we need to find." Pent said. "A Bern Family Treasure."
"Really? What is it?" Eliwood asked.
"The Fire Emblem." Pent said.
A number of the group looked surprised upon hearing that name once again as they headed off.
