Chapter 13
(A Few Days Later)
Vanessa tried on the wedding dress. It fit her perfectly. Carly had loved this dress from the day she saw it at the bridal shop. It was simple, but elegant. It was based off an early 20th century wedding gown pattern. Vanessa smiled, as she looked herself over. She could not wait to marry Goggle.
In just three more days, I will become a Sawney Bean. She thought to herself.
She then took the wedding dress off; and got ready for the day.
(The Mines)
Goggle and Pluto had been in the mines for hours. They were digging for copper. Jeb had told Goggle that copper was still very valuable to the outside. Goggle was hard at work with a pick ax, when he saw Pluto had stopped digging.
"C'mon Pluto. We gotta really put our backs into it. We need that copper." Said Goggle.
"But we dig all day; 'n' we no' find any." Pluto replied.
"I know, but if we want things to change 'round here; we gotta make that change happen. We can start that by returning to honest work in the mines."
Pluto nodded. He then began to dig at a wall. Goggle then saw something promising.
"Hey Pluto! I got something here! Bring me the bag!" Goggle then said.
Pluto nodded, and giggled as he brought the sack they were using to collect copper in. Goggle removed the hunk of copper from its earthen cradle. He held it under the light of Pluto's lantern, and gently brushed some of the dirt away.
"Look at it Pluto. Ain't it beautiful? Copper. Pure, raw copper. Jeb is gonna faint when he sees this."
"Hehehehehe. Yeah. Cousin Goggle smart. Not like traitor Lizard. Goggle make Papa Jupiter proud 'n' happy. Yes he does."
Goggle smiled up at his cousin. Without men like Lizard or Big Brain around to puppeteer him, Pluto was as innocent as any small child. Goggle then patted Pluto gently.
"You're a good man Pluto. Don't let anyone take advantage of ya."
Pluto just laughed, as he held open the bag for Goggle to put the chunk of copper in.
"We go to Jeb's now Goggle?" Asked Pluto.
"Yep." Goggle responded.
The two mutants then left the mines. They would be back another day.
(Mission Church of St. Andrew)
Father McAdam knelt down to do his evening prayers. He was a quiet man; who retired from his work as priest in San Diego, California to minister to the underprivileged people living near the hills of New Mexico. Many broken hearted people came to him. People who had lost loved ones in the mysterious hills surrounding the mission property also came from all over the country to light candles; and to pray for the safe return of their loved ones. As he prayed, he often wondered about why people would just disappear in the hills. Nevertheless, the old cleric would pray that the missing would be found; so there could be closure for their families.
There was nothing new about tonight's evening prayers. Father McAdam relit a single candle before the image of Saint Andrew hanging from his x-shaped cross. His balding head was bowed, his sea green eyes were shut in concentration, and his wrinkled hands were folded together. He was the poster child for piety in this setting. His thin mouth formed the words to his prayers; as a thick Scottish accent made each recited word unique. While deep into his praying, there was a knock at the church door. Father McAdam was abruptly shaken from his prayers, and rose to his feet.
"Hold on. I am coming." He said.
When he opened the door, he saw an old man in a coveralls with a cigar hanging out. Beside him, was a much younger looking man. The younger man had a bowler hat derby on his head; and wore a bandana, covering up most of his face. Only his blue eyes could be seen. Behind him and the older man, was a very huge man, with long wild hair; and a long beard. He had a crazed look in his eyes. Taking a cleansing breath, the priest addressed the unexpected visitors.
"Good evening gentleman. What I do for ye on this lovely night?" He asked.
"Hello Father McAdam. I'm Jeb; and these are my friends, Jupiter and his boy, Goggle. May we come in?" Jeb replied.
"Of course. Please come inside. I was just in the midst of my evening prayers. However, they can wait. Make yourselves comfortable. All are welcome in the house of God."
Goggle, Papa Jupiter, and Jeb all sat in the most front pew. Father McAdam sat across from them in a folding chair.
"Now, what can I do for ye gentlemen?" He then asked.
This time, Papa Jupiter spoke up.
"My son Goggle seeks to marry his girlfriend; and wishes to give her as much a normal wedding as possible. It has to be at our private chapel though." Jupiter explained.
"I see. If ye don't mind me asking. What is your family name?"
"Sawney Bean Father."
Father McAdam nearly fell off his chair.
"God and angels save me. It's not possible. The Sawney Beans are all dead. How can this be?" The priest then asked.
The three men laughed. Now, it was Goggle's turn to speak.
"Ya shouldn't be so surprised about such miracles Father. Besides, Mother Karen was a good, Christian woman. If there was one kind of person we were to never attack; it was priests and nuns. Besides, It was a priest 'n' some sisters that helped our ancestors escape being wiped out back in Scotland. It sounds like ya are from the mother land yourself Father." Goggle said.
The old cleric nodded. He then took out a handkerchief, and wiped the sweat forming on his brow.
"Aye, I was born and raised just outside Edinburgh. I grew up hearing of the Sawney Bean Clan's crimes. Like every local, I feared them. Yet as an aspiring priest, I prayed for their redemption. I guess in many ways that prayer of mine was answered. Now, I cannot decide whether or not I ought to give thanks for that." Father McAdam responded.
"Be thankful Father. If y'all agree to marry my boy 'n' his partner, you'll get a good donation to keep this old church standin' tall." Said Jupiter.
"And what would the amount be?"
Jeb grinned, and counted out money in hundreds. He then passed Father McAdam a small stack. The priest nervously took the money.
"How does 600 hundred sound for your service and silence Father?" Asked Jeb.
"It's a fair amount." He replied.
"The wedding is in two days. Jeb'll bring ya to the chapel." Goggle then said.
Father McAdam nodded. Goggle and the others stood up to leave, when the priest approached Goggle.
"Excuse me young man. May I look at ye?"
Goggle nodded. Slowly, he removed the bandana covering. Father McAdam looked taken aback; but quickly composed himself.
"I'm sure ye will be a fine husband to your future bride Goggle. I will see ye in two days." He then said.
Goggle nodded.
"See ya then Father. God bless."
The three men then left the church. Father McAdam quickly locked the doors and resumed his prayers.
(US Army Base)
General Ryan looked at the soldiers training in the court yard below him. He needed to observe them in order to decide who would help him in his mission to destroy the Bean family for good. When he decided on who he would take with him, he called for them from where he had been watching.
"Sergeant Millstone, Amber, Mickey, Delmar, Crank, Missy, and Stump. Meet me and Colonel Redding when you are done in my office. We need to talk." Said the General.
"Yes sir." They all replied.
General Ryan gave a nod and left the court yard.
Those incest-loving freaks better start praying to whatever god created them. Ryan thought to himself.
(Test Village)
At last, the wedding day had arrived. Vanessa stood still, as Amy put the veil on her.
"You look beautiful Vanessa. Goggle is a lucky man." She said.
Vanessa looked into the mirror beaming. Ruby was brushing her hair on the bed. Big Mama then the room. Her new wig was atop her head.
"Are you girls ready?" She asked.
"Yes Mama." They replied.
"Oh! I almost forgot. Vanessa, This was something I received the day I married Jupiter." Big Mama then said.
She then handed Vanessa a beautiful bracelet. It was gold with the Sawney Bean crest on it; and it's writing said: For God, Freedom, and Kinsmen - we shall fight.
"It's beautiful Big Mama. Thank you." Vanessa replied.
Big Mama held Vanessa in her embrace, like she was one of her children.
"Please, call me Mama."
"Okay, Mama."
As Big Mama left the room, Amy and Ruby went with her.
(Sawney Bean Chapel)
In all his years of being a priest, Father McAdam had never guessed he would marry a Sawney Bean to their future spouse. Back in Edinburgh, if someone had merely suggested it; he would've laughed and called them daft. Goggle looked nervous but happy. Everyone who lived in the test village was present. Goggle watched in awe, as the chapel doors opened. His bride stood in the doorway; a vision of beauty. Everyone stood up and looked at her. They murmured amongst themselves about how beautiful Vanessa was. Goggle's breath caught in his throat; and he almost dropped to his knees. Never in his life, had he seen someone nearly as beautiful as Vanessa.
Vanessa walked up the aisle. All eyes were on her. She smiled, as she gracefully moved towards Goggle. Big Mama started to sniffle and dab at her eyes. Goggle smiled inwardly. His mother always cried at weddings. Vanessa was soon at his side.
"Ya look beautiful Vanessa." Goggle said.
"And you look very handsome Goggle." She replied.
Father McAdam then began service. Everyone was silent, as the priest married Goggle and Vanessa. At the close of the service, Father McAdam blessed the couple.
"By the power invested in me. By the grace of the God. I now pronounce ye man and wife." He said.
"Well go on, and kiss yer bride lad!"
Goggle and Vanessa kissed, as the chapel erupted in applause. Father McAdam was invited to stay for the celebrations by Papa Jupiter.
"Will you be stayin' for the party Father?" He asked.
"Ye are very kind Jupiter. However, I have to be at my office and altar promptly at seven am tomorrow. Thank ye for having me serve ye. May yer son and his wife have many happy years; and many a wee bairn too." Replied the priest.
Jupiter raised his drink and took a swig. After the priest left, Cyst turned on the radio and music started to play. Every one jumped to their feet as the song "In The Mood" started to play. Goggle grinned, and looked at Vanessa.
"Ya wanna dance?" he asked.
"Of course. It wouldn't be a true wedding celebration if the bride did not dance with her husband." Vanessa replied.
Goggle and Vanessa were soon the center of attention; as they danced. Goggle stepped to the right, then left. He stepped back and forward again. Vanessa followed the pattern with ease.
"You're really good at this Vanessa. Who taught ya how to swing dance?" Goggle asked.
"My grandmother." She replied.
"So did mine."
Vanessa nodded. She was glowing with pure happiness as she and her new husband danced the night away.
(The Next Day)
As custom among the villagers, everyone was relieved of duty to ensure a full recovery from the celebrations the next day. It also allowed the new couple plenty of privacy, which Goggle took full advantage of. No one was to disturb Goggle and Vanessa while they spent this time together. Ruby stood outside her older brother's house with Hansel. Together, they made sure no-one would interfere.
Meanwhile, Goggle and Vanessa were laying in bed. Their clothes were thrown about the room. His soft breathing was the best sound to her. All Vanessa wished to do was lay there in Goggle's arms, listening to him inhale and exhale. Vanessa lifted her head slightly. Goggle was still asleep. She pressed her lips against his cheek. Goggle chuckled and cracked one eye open.
"Good morning my love." He said.
"More like after noon. We were up all night." She replied.
Goggle nodded. He then gently grabbed Vanessa's breasts and playfully squeezed them. Vanessa moaned softly.
"Goggle. Goggle. Don't you think we have made love enough times already?" Asked Vanessa.
"That's the problem darlin'. No matter how many times we do make love. It ain't ever gonna be enough." Goggle then said.
"Besides, I wanna keep tryin' for a baby."
"Now who's the spoiled one?" Vanessa teased.
Goggle and her laughed. Goggle then shoved Vanessa playfully back down on the bed. Vanessa could feel her arousal building. Goggle was ready to make love again; but Vanessa kept him away.
"As much as I enjoy making love; we should freshen up first." Vanessa then said.
Goggle nodded. He quickly climbed off Vanessa to allow her to get up. After freshening up, Goggle and Vanessa were back in bed. Goggle was on top of her. He kissed her and his hands were touching everywhere. Goggle was soon deep inside her, filling her with his love. As Goggle finished, he rested atop her. Goggle then smiled, as he held Vanessa close against him. Breathing in her sweet scent, Goggle nuzzled her.
"I love ya Vanessa." He said softly.
"I love you too Goggle." She replied.
"Ain't anyone gone harm ya. I'd rather die before letting that happen."
"Really? You mean it Goggle?"
"Yep. I'd gladly give up my life if it meant saving yours."
Vanessa nodded. However, she had confidence that it would never come to that. Any trouble that would come their way; they would face it together.
Here ends Chapter 13. Reviews are love!
