Compared to some of the other top ten heroes, Miruko's agency was relatively small, probably because she only employed people who could, and were willing to, work alone. Her belief that teaming up was for cowards went far beyond an ideal and made its way into her everyday life. And now, the single exception had been found.

Daidoji was currently filling out the paperwork for her recent hero jobs. It was tedious and she loathed it, almost as much as her mentor, but it was also necessary.

"Leave that bullshit for now, we've got a job." Miruko walked past without so much as confirmation that she had heard her.

Daidoji didn't need to be told twice and hurriedly pushed her chair back. "What's the request?"

"Suspicious activity in a parking garage near a mall. The description matches a Nomu."

Daidoji shivered imperciably, recalling the story of how it had taken all of her classmates working together to slay one. But since Miruko only looked excited, she couldn't say anything about her slight nervousness.

Walking past the cubicles where most of the heroes took calls and did their paperwork, Daidoji was assailed with an odd sense of danger. There was absolutely no one there. Normally, even during a busy day there was someone stationed in reserve.

She shook her head, "We're probably the reserves," She thought to herself, brushing off the issue.

Daidoji laid her hand on the handle of the plain doors that filled the wall. Almost as soon as she turned it, her sense of direction disappeared. She went spinning head over heels as a giant concussive blast destroyed the front of the agency.

Miruko dug her feet in, a wide grin on her face as she bravely took the concussive blast to the face.

The blast only lasted a few sparse seconds, but to the two heroes, it felt like minutes. When it did mercifully stop, Daidoji pulled herself out of a pile of rubble, her transformation already complete, "Ok, I'm pissed!"

Miruko licked her lips, "Me too." She stomped her foot, clearing any residual rubble and dust.

The form that was revealed caused Daidoji to gasp, "It's you!"

The robotic villain's visor pulsed with increased energy, "You know me?" His metallic voice scrapped across the ears of the two.

"Someone I… know… mentioned you."

"Enough talk." Miruko launched off the ground, her legs aimed in front of her.

The villain leaned to the side, wrapping his giant metal hand around her ankle and spinning, flinging her away into a far off building. Then he faced Daidoji once more, "My name is Amarok. Does that sound familiar to you?"

"No." She took a defensive stance, if this guy was strong enough to deal with Miruko that easily, then she needed to be ready, "What do you want?"

"There's… a woman I'm looking for. Seeing you sparked my memory in a way that I had yet to-" Amarok was cut off as his body disappeared from view, only a shockwave left as a reminder of his presence.

Miruko wore a devilish smile as she traded blows with the mechanical man. Each kick narrowly glanced off the man's skin. His movements were robotic and fluid all at the same time. He was moving just enough to avoid the full impact.

Daidoji, still shell-shocked, finally snapped out of it and ran outside of the destroyed agency, chasing after the two fighters. She might have been weaker than Miruko, but her speed was nothing to laugh at. Within seconds, she could see the people on the street scatter as the fight only escalated.

"You are not the one I am looking for."

"I don't much care!" Miruko shouted. "LUNA RING!" She suddenly became a blur as her body spun rapidly, her legs lashing out with incredible force.

Amarok was cleanly struck for the second time. This one actually managed to dislocate his arm and break his elbow. He pushed himself to his feet and aimed the giant cannon on his other arm at the hero, discharging a massive blast that tore through buildings. Miruko, and Daidoji had no choice but to dodge it, giving Amarok space to breath.

Almost as suddenly as his arm had been destroyed, it snapped back together like it had never been broken in the first place. "The woman I seek… she betrayed me! I need to find her. She needs to pay for what was done to me."

Miruko was still recovering from her Super Move and the energy blast, allowing Daidoji to take over and rush in close.

Amarok raised his newly healed left arm, aiming for Daidoji's solar plexus. She had other ideas. The spider girl slid between Amarok's legs, her metal costume causing sparks to fly as she wrapped one of the hands sprouting from her back around his right ankle.

Standing up behind him, she pulled his ankle into the air, causing him to stumble off balance as she grabbed his left arm with her own left hand. Daidoji then planted a foot against his back and pushed. It was deemed too much for even Amarok's mechanical body and his joints began to tear at the joints.

Instead of crying out in pain, or begging for mercy, the villain remained silent. Without any warning jet engines popped out of his back, launching both himself and Daidoji off into the sky.

As they climbed higher and higher, Daidoji's instincts told her to let go and glide down to the ground, but her curiosity of who this man was overpowered those senses. Both Amarok's left leg and right arm spun in a way they shouldn't have been able to and drove themself into pressure points on Daidoji's body. She cried out in pain and had no choice but to let go. Unfortunately, Amarok wasn't done with her. His metal fingers wrapped around Daidoji and his body readjusted itself so he was facing her.

"What… did… that woman… do to you?"

"She's the reason I am no longer flesh and have become metal." He held his free hand to his head, "Eight legs, no… arms… I'll tear them all off… make her feel my pain."

Daidoji went cold, "Are you… looking for… my mother?"

Amarok's hand was removed from his face and his visor's pulsating calmed. "Yes… I believe I am. Thank you." His balled his hand into a fist, intending to beat Daidoji to death.

But before he could even launch one punch, he dropped the girl, crossing his arms in front of his face to shield himself from Miruko's figure that was quickly approaching him from above. However, the two never made contact. Instead, Miruko passed right through him.

As she fell, Daidoji watched through a black border at the edges of her vision. Something about the illusion looked familiar to her. Her fall was arrested as two arms wrapped themselves under her armpits and around her chest. An escaping, "Oof," Alerted Daidoji to her savior.

She rotated her head, seeing Sen's light blue hair fluttering in the wind, "Hey Dai! I thought you could use some help!"

Daidoji gulped in lungfuls of fresh air, desperately trying to catch her breath as the two descended back to the ground. Unfortunately, Amarok wasn't nice enough to give the chance to recover, he dove straight down at the two. His engines roared as he approached at an asine speed.

Just before he could reach them, an illusion of Mount Lady appeared, completely blocking his view. "That won't work twice!" He soared right into it without hesitation.

The illusions purpose, however, was not to buy the two time, it was to obscure his view.

Using Sen's fairy dust as a springboard, Daidoji shot up into the air, right as Amarok finished traversing the shadowy inside of the hero. Her fist, reinforced with the metal gauntlet of her costume, drove itself into the villain's face, shards of metal being sheared from his face. It stunned him enough to let Daidoji fall back to the Earth. The membrane between her back arms stretched wide, allowing her to glide down right next to Miruko and a woman that Daidoji could only assume was Sen's aunt.

Sen landed shortly after and the four readied for the red streak that slammed into the ground a couple meters away. "You know my purpose now. I can't let you live." A purple glow filled the dust cloud and the four heroes scattered.

His memory of existence was short. Searing pain and a black void, that was all he could recall. There was one exception, the woman he had once thought he loved. Her face was a dark spot in his memory and her features were blurry. But above all, he could feel an uncontrollable sense of… rage.

"AHHH!" Amarok let out blood curdling roar as he charged the four, targeting the Rabbit hero first.

She wrapped her legs around his torso, intending to literally tear him in half as he tackled her. But before she could, a cold white blade escaped from his forearm and he buried it in her side. To Miruko, it was nothing she hadn't felt before, but when his second stab targeted her leg muscles, she had no choice but to let go and save her legs. They were her pride and joy after all.

Next was Karma. Surprisingly, she was the one to rush him, her arms crossed in front of her face.

Amarok obliged the suicide rush and pounded his metal fist into the crossed forearms. He could feel the first arm snap and she cried out in pain. Karma, however, wasn't so easily dealt with. Her unbroken arm raised into the air and her index pointed at the man's face.

Sensing danger, Amarok attempted to dodge to the side, but the energy discharging from Karma's finger was too fast and the villain's entire arm was torn clear off.

He stumbled back as Karma retreated, her part done. Now, it was the student's turn.

"Forest of Illusions!" Dozens of Daidoji clones appeared, all moving in random and erratic patterns. Some threw fake punches and others surrounded him.

Upon realizing that they were no threat, Amarok went to recover his arm, only to have his head snapped back by a real punch. He swiped his arm in an arc, but all that was left were the illusions. Then an electric current passed through his body and he fell to the ground as a barrage of punches assailed his body.

This was Daidoji Super Move, Odin's Hammer. Normally, the teen wouldn't hesitate to call it out like so many did, but in this scenario, confusing the opponent's senses was too important to just announce her attack.

Amarok struggled as his body was assailed and torn apart by the hero student. He was broken, but never beaten. He planted his palm on the ground and discharged the final concussive blast he had left in him.

The ground shattered as Daidoji was thrown off her feet and the clones disappeared. The illusions weren't normally affected by physical attacks, but Daidoji wasn't the only affected by the blast. Karma was already out of commission, Miruko had been waiting for the right time to strike, but thanks to her injury and the shockwave, she was similarly disorientated. Sen was also hit by the blast, causing her to lose focus on the illusions and fall to the ground, her head pounding.

Realizing that one of his biggest threats was the fairy girl, he rushed her, his engines giving him a boost of speed. He wrapped his remaining hand around Sen's right wing, the one with a small scar on it and slammed her against the wall of a nearby building.

Thanks to the special filaments that Endo had invented, her wing didn't tear straight off, but that wasn't Sen's main concern. The feeling of having someone roughly grab her scarred wing was like a bolt of lightning travelling through her body and she screamed in agony, tears falling from her eyes. There was no physical pain that came with the rough grip, only the mental scars of a long past trauma.

"End of the line."

And then, everything clicked into place. Daidoji shouted as loud as she could, "Jason!"

Amarok froze, as if someone had locked up the joints of his body. He dropped Sen, "You do know me." His voice was softer than before.

"Your name is Jason Hughes, a student from America that went to school with my mother!" Seeing that Miruko was ready for round two, Daidoji held up a hand, stopping her. "During one of your work studies, you were kidnapped and a video of your death was sent to my mother! She never betrayed you! She never stopped looking for you!" Daidoji's mind was going at a million miles an hour, recalling everything her parents told her about their best friend. "I didn't recognize you because… no one knew you had been turned into this. But when you said 'End of the line' I remembered. That used to be your catchphrase when you took down criminals."

"No… she left me… you all left me!" Amarok shot forwards, but never hit anyone, he had only scooped up his arm and shot off into the sky.

Miruko went to jump after him, but Daidoji stopped her, "You're going to die if you don't get that treated." She pointed at the gushing wound on her side.

"He's killed who knows how many heroes and might be after your mom. You just want to let him go?"

Daidoji paused at her mentor's words, but nodded all the same, "He won't hurt anyone else."

"And if he does?"

"Then Jason Hughes is dead. No doubt about it."

In the end, only Karma, and Miruko got badly injured, but the property damage was severe. Worse still, Sen hadn't come out of her dorm room in days. Karma had calmed her down from whatever panic attack she had been having, but it was apparently bad enough to make her miss the remainder of the work studies.

Besides Daidoji and Sen's fight against Amarok, the only other big announcement was Vincent's participation in the Shie Hassaikai raid. He had been stationed outside during the raid, but had still managed to pull some cops and drained heroes to safety.

Outside of those three, Shizuku, Okami, Emica, Ryouji, and Nikiya all finished their first internships with plenty of experience now under their belt.

The class, minus Daidoji and Sen, were sitting at dinner when the celebration turned into an awkward incident.

The doorbell rang and Kaito offered to get it. He had already had his fill and didn't want his friends to stop their conversation. Opening the door he was greeted with an odd sight. A thirty-something man and woman, holding hands and shaking with a nervous energy.

"Hey." Kaito said with a slanted and curious gaze.

"H-Hi… um… is Okami here?"

"Why?" Most people would simply say yes, but Kaito was of the paranoid variety.

"Well… we're his parents."
