I spent more than one week rewriting this chapter over and over again since I couldn't get it right. I never sat right with me really until yesterday and today. So I present to you the 5th chapter. I am actually quite proud of this one though it's the shortest one so far.

Night quickly descended upon Paris.

One young superheroine could be seen running along the rooftops of the most romantic city in the world. She was patrolling late tonight since Chat informed her that he had something big to go to tonight. She sighed as she sat upon one of the rooftops. It was lonely to be up and about by yourself while Paris slept.

Ladybug looked at the lit up city. It was a beautiful sight, one that she would never get tired of. The moon was perfectly behind the Eiffel Tower, which made it seem magical. As Ladybug was watching the beautiful scene, a certain blue eyed boy popped into her mind. Soon her thoughts only drifted about him.

"I don't know anything about him." Ladybug stood up walking along the rooftops. "But…" She picked up a flower from a pot. "I feel safe around him." She plucked off a petal. "When I look into his eyes, I get lost in them." She smiled to herself as she plucked off another one. "His dark hair, was something-" A grunt of pain pulled Ladybug out of her reverie.

"What was that?" Ladybug asked as she looked down into a dark alleyway. She couldn't see anything so she used her yo-yo to lower herself down.

"Hello?" She could hear someone shuffling deeper in the alley. Maybe they were hurt! She walked faster deeper into the alley until she came upon a dark figure. She gasped as she kneeled down. The light worked against her, so she opened her yo-yo to let some light shine through.

"Daniel?" Ladybug asked as he looked at her with dull eyes. She placed a hand on his forehead to only to feel as if it was a heat radiator. "You have a fever." Ladybug whispered as Daniel rolled his head to the side. She needs to get him to the hospital.

"Daniel. Daniel, can you hear me?" But he wasn't responding. "I'm going to take you to the hospital." Daniel eyelids were dropping fast. "I need you to stay with me, Daniel." Ladybug said as she put his arm around her shoulder.

"N-no." It was so silent, Ladybug could have missed it, but with Daniel right next to her, she could hear it perfectly.

"No what?" Ladybug asked as she fully got him on her back. He was burning up.

"H-H...Hospital." Ladybug could hear the strain in his voice to talk and grit her teeth. Her common sense was telling her to drop him off at the hospital, but her compassion was telling her to bring him to her house.

"Alright then." But Daniel was already fast asleep. She walked back to her home, which miraculously no one saw. She looked at Daniel who was fast asleep, but he was breathing hard. Since it was late into the night, her parents wouldn't notice if she opened the door. She yo-yoed herself onto her balcony and transformed back into Marinette.

"Marinette? What's wrong?" Tikki asked as Marinette rushed downstairs.

"I'll tell you after I help him, Tikki." Marinette said as she opened the door and helped Daniel in. She hoped she wouldn't get sick, God knows how much school she already missed. Since she wasn't wearing her suit, Marinette could feel the sweat and heat rolling off Danny's body. Maybe she needed to get her parent's help for this.

Marinette carried Daniel up the stairs into the living room and placed him on the couch. Although she was confident in her skills to take care of someone, She felt that her parents (more specifically her mom) would be able to take care of Daniel more.

"Marinette, is this Daniel from your school?" Tikki asked as Marinette nodded. "What happened?" Marinette looked at Daniel and figured he could make do with a cool towel.

"While I was patrolling, I found him in an alleyway. I wanted to take him to the hospital, but he asked me not to." Marinette said as Tikki gasped.

"He spoke?!" Tikki exclaimed as Marinette nodded.

"It was really hoarse, I don't think he was supposed to talk." Marinette said as she filled a bowl with water and placed a cloth into the cool water. She dabbed his face with the cool rag, and hummed to herself.

"Maybe I can see what's wrong with him?" Tikki said as Marinette nodded. Tikki touched Daniel's forehead and chanted in some ancient language. Tikki let go after a minute or two and sighed.

"His voice box is damaged. Though not entirely incurable. It's healing on its own. He just can't talk for a while. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with him." Tikki said as Marinette nodded. She wondered why he couldn't speak in class, but now here was the answer.

"I wonder what happened to him." Marinette said as Daniel groaned. She needed to wake her mother for this since Marinette was not at all acquainted with medicine. "Hide for now, Tikki. I'm going to go and wake up Maman." Marinette stood up and walked towards her parents room.

The door creaked letting light seep into the room. Marinette tiptoed over to her mother's side and gently shook her awake.

"Maman." Marinette whispered making Sabine groan and open her eyes.

"What is it, Marinette? It's too early in the morning for this." Marinette rolled her eyes. Her mother was not a big morning person. If you woke her up in her sleep, then she would get grouchy.

"A friend of mine collapsed outside the bakery. He has a very high fever." Marinette said making Sabine wake up. She sat up with a concerned look.

"What? Did you bring him inside?" Sabine asked as Marinette nodded. Sabine immediately shifted the blanket off of her, not being mindful if she woke up Tom. She quickly put on a robe and headed out into the living room.

"Oh, good. You wiped some of the sweat off of him." Sabine said as Marinette nodded. "Marinette, would you go and get the thermometer from the draw in the bathroom?" Marinette left Sabine as Sabine continued to wipe the sweat off of Daniel.

"Here, Maman." Sabine thanked her daughter and put the thermometer into Daniel's mouth. There was a loud beep as Sabine took it out of his mouth. Her lips pressed into a thin line.

"104.2 °F. Much too high for normal." Sabine commented as she went into the kitchen and began to look through the cupboard. "He needs to take a nice cool bath to lower his outer temperature, then we need to give him some herbal tea." Sabine said as Marinette looked down at Daniel. His face was scrunched as if he was in constant pain which made Marinette's heart squeeze. She hated seeing anyone in pain.

"I'll go start the bath then." Marinette walked into the bathroom and started the water. As the water was running, Marinette sighed.

"Are you okay, Marinette?" Tikki asked as Marinette ran her hand through the water, testing the temperature.

"I don't know, Tikki. I found him in an alleyway all alone and it made me wonder what he was doing." Marinette responded as Tikki sat on the edge of the bathtub. "He's such a mystery even at school." Tikki hummed as Marinette turned off the water.

"I bet he has a legitimate explanation, Marinette. You just have to give him time." Tikki said as Marinette nodded and called for Sabine. Sabine somehow carried the heavy boy into the bathroom in only a towel where his *ahem* would be. Marinette blushed as she raked her eyes over his body and was in awe.

"Marinette help me put him into the bath." Marinette moved into gear as she took Daniel by the arms and lugged him into the water. Daniel shivered for a bit, but at least, his breathing wasn't as labored as before. "Thank you, Marinette." Sabine kissed Marinette's forehead making her smile.

"Go to sleep. You still have school tomorrow and I would hate for you to be late, again." Sabine said with a knowing smile on her face. Marinette nodded, now noticing how tired she was.

"Good night, *yawn* Maman." Sabine bid her daughter good night as Marinette dragged herself up the stairs. She fell asleep once her head hit the pillow.
