Kana was wandering around the Seireitei alone a few mornings after. The group had all been given a room to sleep in at the 13th Division, and as soon as the sun had rose the that morning Ichigo had left to go find Rukia, and Kana had quickly followed suit, not wanting to see any of her friends until she got herself in order. And honestly, what was wrong with her? Aizen had just attempted to murder one of their friends, the one Ichigo almost died to save, and Kana was just upset she didn't follow the asshole so she could become more powerful.
"You going somewhere in particular?" A voice rang from above, and Kana squinted against the sunlight to spot Yoruichi squatting on a roof top, smirking at her.
"Not really. Just don't really know what to do with myself right now." Kana admitted, continuing her walk as Yoruichi jumped down to join her. They were quiet for a second, before Yoruichi stopped her with a hand on her shoulder and a mischievous look in her eyes.
"Wanna go have some fun? Byaku-boy is still healing in the 4th Division, but we can go play tag with my little bee." Kana chuckled lightly, swatting Yoruichi's hand away and flaring her reiatsu to lock onto the petite Captain's. She may be shit at directions, but if she had a target she was certain she could find them. Yoruichi was gone in a blur of orange and purple, and Kana was quickly on her heels. She struggled with her reiatsu for a few seconds, eventually managing her goal of having a thread of her reiatsu brushing against Soi Fon's-hopefully it was annoying her, but she was staying still so-and forcing the rest tight to her body and then down to ripple along the skin of her legs. She got the result she wanted, and she shot off with a cackle, blowing past Yoruichi who watched her fly with wide eyes before putting on her own burst of speed to catch up. Kana's grin was wide as she noticed the look of concentration on Yoruichi's face as she actually had to try to keep up. Having the 'Goddess of Flash' need to put effort into an attempt to not lose to you in a race? Wasn't that a fucking dream.
"Oh for fuck's sake." Kana groaned as she crawled in the window right behind her teacher who was smirking at her like the cat that got the canary. She laughed lightly in response, throwing her arm around Kana's shoulders and patting her shoulder.
"You made me work for it though! Another hundred years and you might even beat me." Kana huffed and raised her hand up to smack the back of Yoruichi's head, shaking her own when the purple haired woman dodged away by skipping around to the front of Soi Fon's desk, where the petite Captain sat tense, paper in one hand and brush in the other. Her mouth held a frown, likely trying to be firm in order to get ready for them to leave her alone to do her job, but her eyes sparkled at Yoruichi in awe and wonder that one would normally get from a child looking at a superhero.
Kana chuckled lightly as she came around the other side of Soi Fon's desk, snatching a piece of paper from the massive pile on the Captain's desk and giving it a once over.
"Oi! That's classified information! Put that back, or you will suffer consequences." Kana gave Soi Fon a dry look as the shorter woman stood, glaring coldly at her. The corner's of Kana's lips curled and she waved the paper in front of her face.
"Oh? I can't even look at it even though it's my own information on here?" Kana's eyes flicked over the paper again before she waved it in Soi Fon's face.
"No. You may not." Soi Fon huffed, snatching the paper and putting it back on the stack that said 'completed'.
"Shame, if I had a chance to look at it more I could have corrected the information you had on there." Kana made a show of shrugging and wandering back around the desk, grinning when she heard Soi Fon grab the piece of paper again and rapidly look over it.
"It's impossible for any of this to be wrong. The Omnitsukido are experts at collecting information, even if it's just about some bratty human." Kana rolled her eyes and perched back on the window sill.
"Ah. I suppose the Omnitsukido must be slipping then. Weak leader and all that rot." Kana leapt from the window to the roof across the way, turning and grinning at the sight of Soi Fon's face going red as she darted from her chair and scowled out the window at her. Yoruichi came up beside Soi Fon, placing a hand on her head and bending down to say something in her ear, the words barely carrying to Kana.
"She's got a point little bee. She almost beat me getting here, who's to say she's not faster and stronger than you now too? We didn't get a chance to find out before I took you away for our Shunko fight." Soi Fon froze for a second, looking up at Yoruichi with hurt as the older woman crawled out the window and joined Kana on the roof before her face settled back into a scowl and cold eyes.
"It's on you if I kill your newest student." And with that the three of them were off, Kana and Yoruichi both laughing as they ran from the petite Captain. Kana and Yoruichi remained neck in neck the entire time, Yoruichi subtly indicating where to go with a tap on her elbow or a nod of her head. Soon they were past the rooftops of the Seireitei and into the forests, not stopping until the reached a clearing where, obviously, someone had done some damage fighting.
"Woah, what in the fuck happened here?" Kana asked, peeling the remaining bark of a tree that was burnt to shit, the leaves all missing and branches snapped from powerful gusts of wind. Instead of Yoruichi answering from where she was perched slightly above the other two, making herself comfy in a lounging position, the short Captain by her side spoke up instead.
"This is where Yoruichi-sama and I had our battle a few days ago. Even when under control, Shunko can be very destructive to it's surroundings." Kana hummed, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"What is Shunko anyway?" Yoruichi didn't seem very inclined to answer, so Kana turned to fully face the small Captain who looked at the purple haired woman for a second before shedding her Captain's Haori and heading to the other side of the clearing. Her gaze flickered back to Yoruichi for a moment before, with a pulse, she started glowing white, the wind whipping harshly around her. Her reiatsu has spiked incredibly, and Kana had to flare her own to stop herself from collapsing from the pressure of it. Soi Fon only held it for a moment before letting it drop, and Yoruichi leapt down, patting the short woman on the head with a smile.
"Shunko is a combination of Hakuda and Kido. The reason Soi Fon's uniform is shaped like this is because Shunko will destroy any fabric covering the back or shoulders. It's also primarily elemental, with Soi Fon here being wind, and myself being an electric type. It took me centuries to master, and Soi Fon is even more impressive to have discovered it on her own. With how volatile Shunko can be it's incredibly dangerous to-" Kana had stopped paying attention a few seconds in, pulling her reiatsu in tight and focusing on putting it all to her shoulders and back. She ignored how Soi Fon's eyes widened, how Yoruichi's mouth went agape, and by the time Yoruichi shot her arm forwards and shouted for her to stop Kana was too far gone.
It started with a few sparks, then lightning crackled and her entire upper body started pulsing with a purple glow. She ignored the tearing of her sleeves and the back of her Shihakusho rippled and then burst from her body, the front of it falling to drape against her obi, leaving just the bandages that seemed to come with her uniform keeping any dignity. Grinning, she flared her reiatsu harder, watching one of her hands. With a mad grin at the power she could feel coursing through her, she slipped her foot back and punched the closest semi-healthy looking tree. Lightning sparked tightly down her arm from her shoulders before crackling along the tree and with a sound akin to the clap of thunder, the tree crumbled. Pulling her hand back, Kana brought her reiatsu back in, her hair settling back around her waist as she stopped glowing. She turned back to face Yoruichi and Soi Fon with a wide grin, energetically hopping on the balls of her feet.
"It looks fun! One of you have gotta teach me Shunko." Her grin dropped a bit as Yoruichi slowly shook her head.
"Kana...that was Shunko."
"What are you?" Soi Fon asked next and Kana shrugged, turning to leave.
"Fuck if I know. You'll have to ask Urahara Kisuke." Kana took off, shooting back towards the Seireitei, cursing Urahara all the way. He knew what she was, and decided to play stupid.
Next time she saw him if he didn't give her answers, she was going to kill him. She ignored the fact that it was likely Aizen knew what she was as well. It would be much more socially acceptable to ask Urahara than it would be to go find Aizen.
