HELLO my readers, here is to another chapter. Im excited to hear your thoughts about this chapter, writing this was hard, but I hope you guys enjoy.
"I don't understand, there is only a spring here" I looked around, hoping to find anything else around me. I stopped when I noticed the carving at the ceiling of the cave. A man and a woman, seemed to be preforming some type of naked ritual in the spring.
I had to squint my eyes to notice the half-moon that adorned the man's forehead, and it clicked. Those painting were depicting Sesshomaru and me… "No, no, no"
…..
My eyes had settled on the Miko's panicked expression, her line of sight glued to the carving on the sealing. She seemed to be mumbling words under her breath like a mad women, so low for even my keen ears to understand.
"It's a soul sharing ceremony" the words slipped out of my mouth before I could even contemplate their implications, snapping her out of her trance.
Her head turned towards me, her hair flowing around her face at the sudden motion. A small part of me wanted to reach out and run my fingers through it, to discover if it was truly as soft as it appeared. With her newly acquired silver hair colors, she almost resembled a female Inu herself. Perhaps that's why my beast found itself so attracted to her.
"A what?" She asked once again
"Are you deaf Miko?" I instinctually answered back.
Her hands fell to the side of her hips, her characteristic pose when she was annoyed. "I meant to say, what is a soul sharing ceremony?" There was something in me that enjoyed spiking her fiery nature, that enjoyed being challenged by her.
I ignored the need to react to her defiant pose and assert myself as alpha, electing to just address her question "It's exactly what it sounds like. It is the sharing of two souls between beings. It is a connection that runs deeper than that of mates."
"Could you be any more cryptic? I don't know what it means to be mates with a demon, so I don't understand what you mean by that".
I must admit, I admired her willingness to say she didn't understand. Most demons were too proud to ever do so.
"When demon's mate, they share their body and yokai, creating a physical connection. A soul sharing ceremony is a thing of legends, the complete unification of two souls. It should not be possible" She seemed to be analyzing my every word.

"Augghh! this makes no sense", I exclaimed in pure desperation while pacing around the cave causing the pebbles to grind at the weight of my angry strides. Unexpectedly, when I got closer to the spring the sound of the pebbles was replaced with the vibrating sound of metal.
"Huh" My feet swiped back and forward, wiping away the dust that had settled over the years. A metal platform, similar to the one Tenssaiga used to rest upon, appeared as the dust decimated into the air.
"Sesshomaru!" I exclaim to get his attention. However, that was unnecessary, as he was already approaching me with his sword in his hand. He stopped right in front of me, his hair so close that I could touch it. With one swift motion, he plunged Tenseiga into the slit of the platform. A blinding blue light releasing around us. The cave began to shake, the ceiling over the spring crumbling and caving in.
Scarred at the thought of being crushed under the rocks, my hands intrinsically reached for Sesshomaru. Two strong hands reciprocated and wrapped around me. Sesshomaru's tall frame towered over mine, taking the hit of the stones falling around us. Once the rumbling had stopped and the dust had settled, my eyes struggled to adjust to the sight. Now above the spring of water was a large gemstone, at least that's what I thought it was. If I didn't know any better, I would say it was the moon itself.
The light that radiated from the gemstone, cascaded over a bright figure.
"Father" Sesshomaru's somber voice came from next to me. I don't think I have ever heard Sesshomaru sound so lost.
"Hello, my son" Inutaisho smiled back, "I see you have grown as powerful as you always wished."
Instead of answering, Sesshomaru just remained silent. I couldn't help but feel that I was intruding in a precious family moment.
"Your as verbose as always my son" this time releasing a laugh. "I assume you must be the warrior chosen by the Moon, what is your name my child?"
"Huh"
Sesshomaru's arm quickly retracted from my frame, causing me to lose my balance momentarily. I gave him a glaring look, but part of me couldn't help being a little mused at the thought of him being embarrassed to be caught by his father with a woman in his arms.
"My names Kagome, it's a pleasure to meet you Lord Inutaisho. Inuyasha has told me a lot about you"
"Only Inuyasha?" He asked, his left eyebrows raised at Sesshomaru.
"Well you know how much of a chatter box your oldest son is" I answer, both of us shared a laugh at Sesshomaru's expanse.
"Do you have the prophecy father?" Sesshomaru cut into our short introductions.
"Yes, my son" The light expression that Inutaisho previously had, was replaced with one of seriousness and sadness.
"Long ago, when the earth was still young, the gods created the moon and with it the moon spirit to watch over the earth. On a night, not unlike this one, the moon spirit had a premonition of a great evil that was to come, that sought to devour all that was good. This evil entity once searched for power but was brough down by a powerful Miko. In the pits of hell, his soul lays absorbing all the evil that has been casted down there for centuries, waiting for its moment. When it returns to this earth, it will be an evil like no other, with the power to corrupt and erase a person soul. In order to protect the earth, the moon spirit bestowed her powers on a chosen warrior, one she deemed incorruptible by evil, and a protector to guide the warrior."
Inutaisho's eyes saddened at his next word "in the process the protector will need to give his life to save the warrior his soul being erased from this plane, never to return"
Both my hands came to my mouth as I gasped in shock. I looked at Sesshomaru and back at Inutaisho, "No that cant be, there must be another way. I can't let Sesshomaru die for me"
Sesshomaru, unlike me, appeared unfaced by his father words. "This Sesshomaru cannot be brought down so easily"
"That may be true my son, but you cannot defy fate… However, you might be able to change it" He said cryptically.
"Kagome, if you had the power to save my son? Would you do so?" He asked, studying my expression.
"Of course, without question" I answered back immidietly.
"There might be one way to change his fate, for you two to become soul bounded" Inutaisho explained.
"When my fate became unclear, and it became possible for such a fate to fall upon one of my sons, I search the lands for anything to prevent it. In desperation I pleaded to the moon spirit, she answered my pleads by bestowing this gemstone to me. It contains the power to bind two souls, a ceremony that many have tried but failed. If preformed correctly, your souls will become one and forever be bounded by fate. It will become impossible to dispatch either of you from this earth, without killing the other simultaneously" He finished explaining.
I contemplated his words, regardless of whatever it meant to be soul bounded, I needed to try it. What kind of person would I be if I allowed Sesshomaru to lay his life down when I could save him?
"Let's do it" I told Sesshomaru with conviction.
"I'm afraid it won't be that simple" Inutaisho interrupted. "Although, the gemstone contains the power to unify two souls, your souls must be ready for it."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"For you two to become soul bounded it will require two things. One you must accept each other to the core, that means you will need to know and accept everything about the other" He paused and addressed me, "Second your soul is impure Kagome, remnants of the whom you previously shared your soul with still cling to you. In order to free yourself of it, you must return the parts of her soul that still plague yours." He paused one last time, "beware, returning her soul will require you to first revive her"
By the way he looked at me, I wondered if he knew the feelings I held for his younger son. How it scared me that if she was back alive, he will leave me and run to her.
"Once you are ready, return to this spring and preform the ritual under the moon gemstone. With that, I leave you both" His form began to disappear. "My son, I am so proud of what you have become, I hope you learn to open your heart" were his last words.
We stood there silently for what seemed like forever, only when Sesshomaru spoke did what happened seemed real.
"Do not worry Miko, we do not need to become soul bounded. I am your protector, if that shall cost me my life, so be it"
Immidietly my body reacted, my hands graving on to his sleeves "don't be stupid Sesshomaru, I cannot let you willingly die for me"
He snorted, "This Sesshomaru is not stupid. There is nothing that holds me to this earth" He said ripping his sleeves from my hands and beginning to walk away.
"Seshomaru!" My stern voiced stopped him in his tracks. "You said you wanted me to accept you as my alpha, to become part of your pack. Well I accept."
He turned around, a questioning expression on his face, "What does that have to do with anything?"
"Would a good alpha abandon his pack, when he had an option not to. Would you leave Rin and me, alone and unprotected?" I knew what I had to do. If I could not reason with him to live for himself, I had to pull at his sense of duty and honor.
His eyes widened at my accusations. "Do you realize the consequence of becoming bonded. We would know each other at a more intimately level than anyone else ever could, do you think we could ever find mates that will accept that. What of when the dead Miko returns, are you not afraid that Inuyasha will run to her" He ask, his eye eager to hear my response.
I walked up to him, my face defiantly close to his. "If our love cannot survive that, then it is not the love I deserve" was all I said.
I stared him straight in the eyes, knowing that if I backed down, he would not take me seriously.
"Very well Miko, we shall become soul bounded. I hope you do not come to regret this decision" he said.
I was not afraid, although the possibility of losing Inuyasha hurt. I could never regret doing what was necessary to save Sesshomaru.
