Aoi Dragon: It's happened again. I killed my main character OC. She just can't catch a break. Or maybe she can get some answers in the afterlife. We shall see.
Enjoy!

Diana's eyes blinked open. She was laying in a booth with leathery, plastic-y seat covers common to restaurants and bar & grills. What? She sat up and noticed that the purple-black stain on her arm was gone.
"Bucky?" She called out.
"Sorry," came a new voice, "I had to bring you here or you'd have passed on." A man approached her.
Diana gaped, "Morgan… Freeman?"
He gave a serene smile, "No."
"Then who -" She wracked her brain for why this dream was showing her an actor.
The man gave a small smile, "I'll wait for it." His eyes sparked with amusement.
She noted his white suit and straightened in realization, "Oh my - I mean… It's you!" Diana exclaimed.
The smile widened, "Yeah. It's me."
"Why - I mean…. How - no, that's a ridiculous question, considering... What am I doing here?"
The man's smile dimmed, and He became much more serious, "Ego's seed. It spread too fast when you went through the portal to Kamar Taj. The portal's magic and the ambient magic in Kamar Taj exacerbated the infection more than anyone expected." He flicked His hand and the TV not far away turned on.
Diana could see Bucky holding her in his arms, and the purple-black infection had crawled up into her face.
The man turned to look at her, "When Ete and Finny brought you to this universe, I didn't think too much of it. It's been done before, and it's always a nice change of pace from the usual timelines of this cluster of worlds. I never really expected something so strong to form between two people from different universes, though. Then again, if I'd actually watched more intently, I would've seen it coming from a long ways away. But my eyes were elsewhere."
"Am I… dead?"
"To quote The Princess Bride: You're only 'mostly dead'." The man told her, "I'm sorry."
"But you said you saved me."
"I did. I saw something so wonderful and so rare that I couldn't just let your soul pass on. So, I brought you here, and we'll watch to see what the sorcerers do."
"What about Bucky?" Diana asked, she looked up to watch as the Soldier's metal arm took hold of Master Daniel's throat and slammed him to the floor hard enough to break the tiles when he tried to remove Diana from Bucky's arms. The Soldier bared his teeth, snarling at the master sorcerer. Master Daniel left him alone after that and went to find someone who might be able to help.
The man looked sad, "He's been through far too much, more than most. I've always thought in every universe I've seen him in - whether he's a boy when he's taken or a man - he deserves better. That's why I agreed with Ete and Finny to let you stay. I glanced just once and saw the potential. I wasn't sure if it would happen - I see all possibilities, you know - but I had hoped that it would. I gave you free will for a reason."
"I have to get back to him."
"Oh, don't worry. You will. I just wanted to have a chat. See how you're doing." He came and sat across from her, "So, what do you think of this universe? Because if you so choose, I can send you back to yours, and you can live out your life as if you'd never left your dorm. You wouldn't even remember your time here. It would be like it was an extravagant dream."
Diana stared at the man. Of course He could do something like that and would if she asked Him. She looked back at the TV. She could see how Bucky clutched at her. She could see his lips asking her to 'wake up' and saying 'don't leave me'.
Diana blinked tears away from her eyes as best she could and turned her focus back to the man, "I think this universe has become home now. I wish I still had my family, but I think the MCU versions of them are safer not knowing who I am."
He nodded, understanding, "Well, you've made some very powerful and strong friendships too. It's been the most interesting alternate universe I've seen in awhile. Maybe I should do this more often." He looked thoughtful, "At least one of my sons would think it hilarious."
"I'm sure other fangirls would be delighted," Diana deadpanned.
The man gave a toothy smile, "I would be very picky in who I'd send, though. Considering the last time I personally interfered with the universe, I sent my Son. That choice spawned a whole new swath of universes, including your home universe and the one that you're in."
"And the one with the Winchesters."
The man rolled his eyes, "Ah yes. The Winchesters. From one of the few universe clusters where magic runs wild and deep with both Grace and Darkness." He scowled for a moment, his gaze distant before blinking and turning His attention back to Diana.
"Speaking of, why'd you choose that face? Why Morgan Freeman? Why not Rob Benedict or another face?"
"I think this might be the most recognizable face for me in your human popular culture other than the white robed bearded old man. This one seems more personable and actually has a voice." He paused, "The others had smaller issues, and some you were never able to see. And I might be a bit biased toward this face anyway." He smiled.
"Oh. Okay. So…" Diana trailed off, not really knowing what to say to Him. Her eyes flicked back to the TV. Bucky had laid her on a bed and the Ancient One was attempting to soothe him with her words. His cheeks were tear-stained as he stared down at Diana's still body.
Diana looked away from the screen, feeling tears starting to form in her eyes again.
"Do you want me to turn it off?" The man asked gently.
"No. It's - I'm fine."
He reached out to clasp her hand, "You'll get back to him. The sorcerers simply need time. Agamotto did know of the Celestial Ego and wrote about him." The man's voice dripped with sarcasm when he said 'Celestial.'
"He did?" Diana looked interested.
"Yes. Agamotto drove Ego's avatar off of Earth the first time he tried to plant his seeds." The man answered, "It's why I gave Agamotto the Time Stone. Well, when I say 'gave' I really mean I put it in a location where Agamotto was sure to find it. I knew it'd be well protected. There are very few beings in the universe stupid enough to try to gather the Infinity Stones."
"Thanos."
"Yes. Death has told me about all the paperwork he has to go through because of that titan's stupid notion of bringing balance to the universe. He's not Anakin Skywalker, for crying out loud!"
"Maybe someone should tell Thanos. Maybe he'd stop."
"He's not called the 'Mad Titan' for no reason, though."
"Yeah, I guess you're right, as always. I just… I don't want to see any of my friends turn to ash."
The man gave her a compassionate look, "I can understand that. This universe Ete and Finny dropped you into has veered so far from its original timeline that a brand new set of possibilities awaits you. With the Avengers pretty much set to not have a civil war, the Daredevil being known to the Avengers… well, it's less divided."
"The constraints of cinema vs television vs Netflix are gone when it's real." Diana noted.
"Very true. I especially like how you saved Donnie Gill. That was a bit unexpected because it hasn't happened anywhere else, but it's going to put a new spin on everything. I'm sure you're looking forward to meeting Stephen Strange too."
"Doctor." Diana said without thinking. She clapped a hand over her mouth and muffled, "I'm sorry."
The man rolled His eyes good-naturedly, "Doctor Stephen Strange. Just like Captain Jack Sparrow."
"Right." She lowered her hand and licked her lips. After a moment of silence, Diana spoke again, "So, um, how's - how's my home universe doing? Is my family okay?"
The man gave her a nod, "When I found out what Ete and Finny did, I had to do a little tweaking. You see, you had a destiny in your original universe too, and if that didn't happen, well, people would've died, and Death would've been angry with me. So, I created an exact copy of your soul to give the old you in your universe. It will come to the afterlife upon the body's death just like yours will on yours." He paused, "When your soul crossed universes, it left a void in your universe. I filled it to make sure the scales didn't get tipped."
"That sounds really complicated."
"Well, it is pretty cosmic." He smirked a little, "And back to your original questions - yes, you're family's fine. Everyone's doing well. Your sister is even thinking about getting married."
Diana smiled, "Good for her."
"You know, time does pass differently here if I want it to." The man gave her a sly look. He snapped His fingers and looked at the television screen, "You can go back now, if you want."
"I'd like that." Diana paused, "How much time has passed there?"
"About twenty-nine days and a few hours." He replied, "Your beau wouldn't leave your side for nearly a week. Eventually Karl Mordo insisted he do something productive. So Barnes has been learning history and, due to his potential in learning magic, some mental shields to try to resist or block the HYDRA programming. It was something he could do at your bedside."
Diana nodded, "Then I think I'm ready to go back."
"It was good to see you. And I don't want this to happen again." He paused, "It's always a possibility, but you need to live to a ripe old and have lots of children."
Diana blushed, "I'll do my best."
"I'll be seeing you!" He raised His hand, "Oh, and you might not remember this encounter. Maybe only in dreams." He grinned.
"Goodbye." She bowed her head in reverence as He swiped His hand and everything went dark once again.

Diana took a deep breath and could taste the incense of Kamar Taj in the air. Her hand moved to clutch the sheets under her. What had happened? She remembered dreaming about being in a restaurant and… nope. It was gone.
"Bucky?" Her voice came out in a whisper as she opened her eyes.
His worried expression was the first thing she saw beside her. It quickly changed to one of relief, "Diana." Bucky breathed, sitting on the bed and fervently kissing her. When he withdrew, he laid his forehead against hers, "I thought I'd lost you."
She lifted her hand and ran her fingers through his hair, "I'm okay now. I'm fine." She reassured him, "What happened? How long was I out?"
He drew back and took her hand, "You were gone for almost a month." His hand squeezed hers, "You almost..." his voice cracked a little, "You almost died."
Diana's eyes widened, "Died?"
"I thought you did die. I was sure I felt it." He told her, "Your teacher did something that stopped the spread of the seed's infection. He used an amulet of some kind."
She held up the arm that the seed had infected. The violet-black stain that had spanned from her hand to her elbow in streaks was gone. Diana smiled as she examined her unblemished skin, "It's gone." She turned her hand palm up, "It's completely gone."
"It took the Ancient One a few days to find the right spell." Bucky told her and he ran his thumb over her knuckles, "It was in a very old tome by one of the originators of the sorcerers of Kamar Taj who had apparently fought a monster calling itself a Celestial. The Ancient One needed four other master sorcerers to help her power the spell and bring you back."
"Do you know who they were?"
The Soldier's eyebrows furrowed, "Well, there was your teacher, a Japanese woman, an English black man, and a man whose accent sounded Scandinavian."
Diana frowned, "That would be Tina Minoru from the Hong Kong Sanctum, Karl Mordo who as far as I know stays at Kamar Taj, and Kaecilius."
Bucky, with his skills of observation honed through years of training as the Winter Soldier, narrowed his eyes, "You don't seem to like the last two."
"They have a checkered possible future." She told him.
His gaze flicked toward the door, "Hmmm…" And his grip tightened a bit on her hand.
"Does Steve know i'm still here?"
Bucky nodded, "I also told Murdock and said to call Steve if he needed anything while you were… away."
"Okay. I hope everyone's okay."
"I talked to Steve a few times. He and Murdock have started sparring once a week." Bucky looked a little jealous.
"Matt needs the practice. He gets hurt way too much in the getup he wears when he goes out. Maybe Steve can teach him some self-pres-er-va-" She trailed off when the Soldier gave her an incredulous look. Diana grinned, "What am I talking about? Steve and self-preservation don't belong in the same sentence."
Bucky scoffed, "Threw himself on a grenade during basic training. Self-preservation, my ass."
"But seriously, Matt's only teacher, Stick, was nasty and got rid of Matt when he started feeling like he was getting attached, Stick I mean… getting attached. Matt definitely got attached and got thrown out for it. And… Uh… Anyway, I think it's great that he has a better teacher."
"Murdock fights more like me." Bucky pointed out, "He's fast and agile, even without the full serum in his veins, like a cougar. Steve's a rhinoceros - all strength but little coordination." The Soldier smirked.
"What does that make you?" She asked, amused by his analogies.
Bucky thought for a moment, "A wolf."
The White Wolf. "And me?"
He stared at her seriously for a while, studying her face as it slowly turned red. After a few moments, the Soldier spoke softly, "You are a golden eagle. Deceptively dangerous and beautiful when in action and when at rest."
"Oh." Diana cleared her throat, blushing, and fiddled with the sheet. A few moments of silence passed between them before she spoke again, "We should find out how long I have to stay." She suggested, "You should go find Master Daniel or the Ancient One."
He turned back to her, "They'll figure it out soon enough."
"Bucky…" She rolled her eyes.
"I'm not leaving you just yet."
Diana sighed, but she couldn't help but smile a little, "Alright. Fine." She relaxed back into the pillow, "What've you been doing since I've been indisposed?"
The Soldier let go of her hand and went to a chair not far away. Next to the chair was a large pile of books, "I've been reading." He picked up a couple books and brought them to her, "This place has a lot of books to help me with the HYDRA stuff still in my head." He tapped his temple. He then enthusiastically showed the other book, "This is a detailed history of the last days of the War. There's more too for the '50s, '60s and so on."
"Oh yeah?"
"It's the only thing that kept me sane, not knowing if you would ever wake up."
"I'm glad you had something to do. I don't know what I would've done if something like this had happened to you."
"You would've carried on, like you did for those few years between waking up and the fall of SHIELD." Bucky replied, "You would've had Steve with you too, and the rest of the Avengers."
"You would've done just fine without me too." She refuted his self-deprecation, "You're much better off than your original was... will be… would have been two years from now."
"I guess we'll just have to disagree on that point." The Soldier gave a small, sad smile.
There was a knock at the door and it slowly opened to reveal the Ancient One with Master Daniel right behind her.
She smiled serenely, "Ah, Diana, it's good to see you finally awake."
Bucky was on his feet, his shoulders straight as he stood at attention out of respect for the Sorcerer Supreme.
"Yeah, good to be back. Whatever you did for me did the trick." Diana smiled back.
"Yes," the Ancient One nodded and approached the young woman's bedside, "I, however, must check to make sure it's all gone."
"Sure." The blonde sat up, held out her arm, and watched as the Ancient One made some complex hand and arm movements.
The yellow-green magic sparked across the Ancient One's fingers as she carefully trailed her hand along Diana's bared arm. It was like warm water pouring over her skin. After a few moments, the Ancient One withdrew her magic and smiled softly, "The seed infection is gone."
Bucky sighed in relief, "So, she can come home?"
The Ancient One nodded, "I see no reason why you would need to stay here. With the infection gone, you are free to return home." She smiled at Diana, "I am glad to see you well again. You gave us quite a fright with your strange malady and your near death experience. I can only hope you will not have to go through that again."
"Me too. Thanks for all of your work." Diana told the Sorceress Supreme, "Thank Masters Mordo, Kaecilius, and Minoru for me too."
"I will pass on your message. Be well, Diana, Daniel, James." The Ancient One bowed her head in farewell and left the room.
Master Daniel approached his student and took her hand, "I am so sorry you were hurt under my watch. I hadn't expected the seed to be able to infect anyone. I suppose I should've done more research in the Kamar Taj archives before going out."
"I didn't even know that Ego had been here before the 1980s, so how could you have known there were actually research materials anywhere?" She saw Bucky cross his arms and scowl at Master Daniel.
"Perhaps. What's done is done, and now if something like this ever happens again, we'll know what to do." He touched her arm, "I hope you can forgive my foolishness and lack of foresight."
"There's nothing to forgive, Master Daniel," Diana told him and gave Bucky a side glance, "even if some people think or say otherwise. We didn't know, and then when the worst happened, everyone tried to fix it. Still, I accept your apology."
"Very true. Thank you." Her teacher straightened, "Well, I suppose you and your beau would like to return to New York as soon as possible."
"Yeah."
"I'll be waiting for you on the other end as a precaution." He told her. Then the Master of the New York Sanctum squeezed Diana's hand before giving a curt nod to Bucky and leaving the room.
"Are you sure you're well enough to move out of here?" Bucky asked, "We could stay one more day before going back to the Tower."
"I feel fine, you stupid-face." She glared at him as a faint smile flitted across his face, "But I do feel weak; I don't think I'll be able to walk anywhere without help."
"I'll carry you," The Soldier answered, "It'll be faster." He then glanced around before leaning toward her, "This place is weird."
Diana laughed, "Yeah, I can understand that." Then she reached out to him, "Shall we?"
Bucky gathered Diana in his arms and the two of them made their journey back to New York with no further issues from Ego's seed.

Diana had only been going through physical therapy for a little over a week before she received numerous texts from Tony in quick succession.

Text - 9:05 AM
Robert Downey Jr.: Capsicle, don't you DARE bring apple pie!
She laughed at Tony's antics before searching for recipes for krofe doughnuts or potica bread online. After looking through a few recipes, she realized that both pastries were way out of her league to make, and she sat pouting on her couch for a few moments.
Then she had a thought. Maybe she should just portal to Virginia, MN and buy some! She was strong enough to move around by herself. She'd even gone back to her apartment a couple times in the middle of the night to help heal Matt from his Daredevil-ing injuries.
Diana went to get her Sling ring and the credit card for the bank account Tony had set up for her after hiring her. She opened a portal to a restroom in Olcott Park in Virginia and went to find someone who could tell her where she could find krofes AND potica.
After a couple hours of searching, she found out that Pepe's Bake Shop sold both the potica and krofe. She happily went to the shop and bought enough of both the pastry bread and the doughnut to feed an army. The shop was almost sold out of both by the time she left with all her bags in tow.
Diana found a secluded place and formed a portal back to Avengers Tower with a grin on her face. It soon faded when she realized all the lights on her floor were off. The only light in the room came from the floor to ceiling windows. Okay, weird.
She put down her bags and swiped the portal closed, "JARVIS?" She called, but the AI didn't answer. That wasn't good. She flicked her fingers and summoned some magic as she scanned the room. There was a figure in the corner, tall and broad. "Who are you?" She growled, "How did you get in here?"
"You left." He spoke.
"Oh god, Bucky." Diana relaxed and dissipated her magic, "You scared the hell out of me. I thought the Tower was under attack when JARVIS didn't answer. What are you doing here?"
"You. Left."
Her eyebrows went up, "Yeah. I went to get some food for Thanksgiving."
The Soldier approached her, "You left and didn't tell anyone."
"Why should I have told someone? I wasn't even gone that long." Diana was a bit confused.
Bucky frowned and gripped her forearm firmly, "You were gone for four hours. You could've gotten hurt, and no one would've known where you were. You should've told someone. You should've told me."
Diana took a step back and withdrew her arm from his grip, "Oh no. No. You don't get to do this."
"I just want you to be safe."
"Safe?" She shook her head, "I can take care of myself."
"I know you can, but if I don't know where you are, I can't come help you if you need it. I won't be there if…" He glanced down at the floor, "You almost died, Diana. I've never felt so helpless. I never want to feel like that again." Bucky looked up at her.
"So, what? I have to tell you where I am at all times just in case something might happen to me?" She scowled at him. He gave a small nod, making Diana grit her teeth, "No."
The Soldier squared his shoulders, "No?"
"It means no." She repeated.
"I don't think you understand-"
"No, you don't understand. If..." Diana poked his chest, "If I asked the same thing of you, that you tell me every time where you're going all the time, whether it's to the training room or to the store or keeping me constantly updated while you're on missions with Steve... How would you feel about that?"
"I've had training, experience." Bucky defended.
"And I don't by your standards apparently." Diana scoffed, "I didn't know you thought so little of me, Sergeant."
He winced, "That's not what I meant."
"Oh, but that's what it sounded like." She clenched her jaw, "I guess now I know how much you trust me."
Bucky took a step back, like she'd struck him, his eyes wide, "I do trust you. You're-"
"Not if you want me to tell you where I'm going all the time." Diana interrupted, "That gets a little too controlling for my liking. Next thing I know, you'll be telling me who I can and can't be friends with."
"I'd never do that!" Then his shoulders slumped and he gave a long sigh, "JARVIS, turn the lights back on." The lights came back on instantly and Diana got her first good look at Bucky. There were dark circles under his eyes, like he hadn't had a good night's sleep in days. His brown hair was a mess and looked like it hadn't been washed in a while. He also hadn't shaved that day and his five o'clock shadow looked just as unkempt as his hair.
She reached up for a moment before taking her hand back, "What the hell happened to you? You look like shit." How hadn't she noticed this before? This time she did touch his face, running her fingers along his scruff.
"It doesn't matter." He looked ashamed.
"It does if it's caused you to lose your trust in me and my abilities." Diana told him, "And why haven't I seen you in this state before?"
"I've been hiding it." Bucky admitted, "Romanoff helped."
"Why?"
He lowered his gaze again, "I didn't want you to see me like this. Ever. I have enough nightmares thanks to HYDRA. Having you know that your death has been added to that mix… I didn't want you to know."
"And that's why you want to keep tabs on me?"
Bucky gave a small nod and repeated, "I want you safe."
"Buck, I haven't been safe since 1944." She pointed out, "If it wasn't the War, it was Loki. If it's not him, it's HYDRA. If it's not them, it's gonna be the Hand. If it's not -"
"I get it. You can stop." The Soldier said, keeping his eyes on the floor.
"As long as I'm here, I'll never be safe. Too many people and organizations know my face." She watched as Bucky opened his mouth, and she interrupted him, "And no, I'm not going to try to find a way back to my universe. There are too many people here that I care about to just… abandon them."
"I know. I just… I worry about you. After everything that happened with the seed I... I can't -" He took in a shaky breath and let it out before he gathered her in his arms and embraced her tightly, "Since getting back from Kamar Taj," he rasped into her ear, "I've watched you die in my nightmares every night. Sometimes it's HYDRA. Other times it's the seed. The worst is when…" His arms tightened around her, "The worst is when it's me."
"Oh Bucky…" Diana wrapped her arms around him.
"I haven't slept in days because I don't want to see your eyes go blank. I don't want to see your lips turn blue. I don't want to watch the life leave you and your face turn pale." He explained, "It hurts. It tears me apart more than anything HYDRA did to me. I don't want you to die."
"I don't want to die either." She told him, "I may not have shown it or said anything, but I was terrified about the seed infection too." Diana drew back to look at him and touched his scruff again, "I don't know why I was gone for so long, but I came back."
"But you won't always…" He clasped her hand with his own.
"Don't think like that, Buck."
"Considering the life I've lived, all the blood and death… It's hard to not think like that."
"Then you're gonna have to trust me." She told him, "You have to trust me to take care of myself. You have to trust me to tell you if something's wrong. It's how this," she motioned between the two of them, "is going to work."
"But what if-"
"Don't live on the 'what ifs', Buck." Diana told him, "I tried living like that. What if I'd pushed you to not go on that mission? What if I'd been determined to find you, even if Colonel Phillips said 'no'? I'm sure Steve would've gone with me, and the rest of the Commandos. What if I could've spared you the pain and torture that came along with being brainwashed by HYDRA? What if it's my fault that you're the Winter Soldier because I didn't do enough?"
"It's not." He whispered, a grieved look crossing his face, "I made my choices then. Never think that anything that happened to me is your fault."
Diana nodded, "And still, there are those 'what ifs'." She looked straight into his cerulean eyes, "I've learned that you can't live on those kinds of thoughts. I've done my best to stop. I look at my future because everything in my past has led me here to the Avengers and back to you."
He stared at her steadily, "Can you tell me what might happen in the future? If I know what's coming…"
"I've changed so much that I don't know exactly what'll happen." She admitted, "Can you put your trust in me? Please?"
The Soldier took a few deep breaths, "I'll try. Just promise me that you'll be careful. I know you'll go off on your own missions without me, but… please do everything in your power to come back to me."
Diana smiled, "Bucky, I promised you once a long time ago that I'd always find you. I'm going to make that promise again to get it through your thick skull: I will always find you, in any time and any place, you have my solemn vow."
Bucky's flesh hand came up and brushed some of her blonde hair behind her ear. Then he was kissing her, hot and heavy. His metal arm pulled her closer. Then he spun her around, walked her backward until she hit a wall. The Solder paused and withdrew from his kiss, "Are you alright? Is this-"
"Shut up." She reached up and pulled him into a kiss.
With his flesh hand steadying them against the wall, his metal hand slid up under her shirt, and she sucked in a breath, arching her back at the cool titanium against her heated skin. The shift allowed him to step even closer, and she could feel him as he pressed himself to her. The pressure was just right and she moaned against his lips. He took the opportunity to plunge his tongue into her mouth and press his hips forward.
She moved her hand down to his shoulder and clutched at his shirt. His hips came forward again, pressing against her. His lips left hers and placed butterfly kisses down her neck. She let out a sigh of pleasure. He growled into her neck and tried to press even closer before he returned to kiss her lips.
"Buck, I can't breath." She gasped out.
He withdrew a little, panting, "Sorry." His pupils were blown wide with desire that she could barely see the blue iris, "Maybe we should-"
Diana moved forward and kissed him, effectively cutting him off. She combed her fingers through his thick hair. His hips moved again and pleasure raced from her core through her veins. She cut off the kiss and threw her head back against the wall with a moaned sigh.
He kissed her jaw and moved his flesh hand from the wall to her hip and then up, brushing his fingers against her breast before trailing them back down again. He pulled her hips to him as he trust his forward. He exhaled in her ear and repeated the action. He kissed her and bit down on her lip, nibbling a little.
She pressed forward, finding that pleasurable friction again. He growled deep in his throat and reciprocated. His metal hand gripped the hem of her shirt.
"Miss Larson, Sergeant Barnes, I am so sorry to interrupt, but Captain Rogers is asking for you, Sergeant."
Bucky groaned, and he bent his head down to Diana's shoulder, "Steve, I hate you. I hate you so much right now."
"Thank you JARVIS. Thank you very much." Diana grumbled.
"I am sorry." The AI apologized again.
"We should just ignore him. He can live a little longer without me." Bucky drew back to look at her.
She brushed some of his hair back from his face, "If you don't go, he'll come looking for you, and that might get weird for all of us."
"Fuck."
"Hmmm… Maybe another time." She gave him a crooked smirk as her fingers trailed along his jawline.
His eyes narrowed, and he pulled her off the wall to him, "Don't tempt me." He growled through his teeth and then kissed her. When he finally drew back, he trailed his thumb along her reddened lips, "I should go." He took a step back and shifted his jeans.
"I'll see you at dinner?"
"Of course." Bucky nodded. Then he gave her his signature smirk and looked smug, "You look thoroughly ravished."
"Yeah, well," she brushed her fingers through her hair, "had an argument that turned into a makeout session. It happens."
His smirk turned into a grin, "Oh yeah? He's a lucky guy."
"I think I'm the lucky one. He has to deal with my drama."
"I'm sure he can manage. I have it on good authority that he's put his trust in you and your skills to keep you safe." He took a step forward and kissed her gently, "I am sorry. About the argument - I went about it the wrong way. I'm still new to the dynamics of this century."
"I don't need a knight in shining armor, you stupid-face. I want and need a partner who'll watch my back and who'll trust me to watch his."
"I think I can do that." He kissed her once more.
"If you don't leave now, Steve's gonna come looking for you."
Bucky sighed in exasperation, "Steve." Then he shook his head, "He never used to be like this. This… mother hen thing. It's the serum, I swear."
Diana smiled, "Go. I'll see you at dinner."
The Soldier stole one more quick kiss, "Dinner. Bring the pastries you bought." Then he headed to the elevator, stuffing his metal hand in the pocket of his jeans.
Once he was gone, Diana ran a hand through her hair, "Dammit, now I need a cold shower." She glanced at the bags she'd dropped on the floor. With a sigh, she picked them up and sat them on the island counter in her kitchen to remind her to take them with her when she went down to Tony's floor in a few hours.

Aoi Dragon: A note - I had originally written Him as Chuck from Supernatural. Then the newest season happened and I decided... nope and reworked the scene for Morgan Freeman. And yes, Marvel does have Him; He's called The One Above All. So there you go. Also, you might be able to guess that Finny and Ete are Infinity and Eternity. Now we know how Diana got to the MCU, even if she doesn't remember.
Oh! And Ego's seed infection looks like the curse from Princess Mononoke... just so you have the visual.
