Her breaths came in cold quick draws. Her green eyes flew open to find herself entangled in a dark space. She tried, stretching her limbs with no such luck. Her heart sped up, sending the brunette into a panic attack. Her eyes were wet with unease making itself at home in her heart.
"Dylan?" Ledger called, appearing to tower over his friend. A light shone, putting ease in her heart for a minute.
"Ledger?" Dylan weakly squeaks, prying open her light green eyes. She met daylight, starting to cool down. Her hands were a bit shaky as he helped her from the coffin she'd been in.
"You, uh, you...you may have-" Ledger stuttered to give her the bitter news.
"I can't be dead?!" Dylan chimed in, cutting off her ghost friend.
"The impact of the person dying last night stopped your heart!" Ledger stressed, tugging at his short blonde curls.
Dylan frowned, eyeing the graveyard she'd been buried in. At least, this could be her chance to start anew. She saw doom and gloom scattered about. "Nobody waited to see if I'd wake?"
Ledger shrugged, "I guess not."
Dylan could tell the blonde was unusually grim. She knew he was withholding something more. "Who died that stopped my heart?"
Ledger wore a skeptical glance. He wasn't sure he should give the news away. Frowning, he eyed the gloomy graveyard.
"Dylan, move on from this. If you worry too much-" Ledger was cut off when somebody barreled into his transparent figure. He faded.
Dylan was almost knocked off her feet as strong arms, wrapped her in a hug, causing a surge of a flutter in her heart. It's as if she had come to life for the first time. A small smile formed on the edge of her lips, but she wouldn't last that show. She forced the other person off of her, arching a confused eyebrow.
"Jason?" Dylan softly called in recognition. She didn't think the boy would be dumb enough to wander the graveyard alone. Especially not under the pale moonlight. She blinked a couple of times, narrowing her gaze into a squint at the blue eyed boy who was holding down tears.
"I knew you wouldn't die. Red disagreed, wanting to bury you. He didn't want to wait." Jason eerily spoke. Hurt and anger were a bitter combination to hear from the soft spoken male.
Dylan tried to wrap her brain around the reasoning behind him being so upset. "Okay, but that can't be what's messing with your head. What's up, Jay?"
Jason had gone rigid from all his sniffling. He didn't know where to begin to explain to her what happened while she was buried in the cold dirt. His eyes were shining with the guilt he held, "I'm a screw up."
Folding her arms, Dylan scoffed. As if she didn't hear that on a daily basis. "Aren't we all?"
Jason shook his head in disagreement, latching onto her shoulders with a light grip. "They all blame me!"
"For?" Dylan asked, taking the bait. Her confusion had never rang more true than in that moment. What could anybody blame him for accept murder?
Their eyes were steady on one another.
"Odd things have been happening around the tower. Not even I know their darkest secrets-" Jason went to explain until Dylan chimed in.
"Aside from Rachel. We all know hers though. What does that have to do with you?" Dylan rose an eyebrow as chills ran down her spine.
It was coming.
"Look, Dil, I don't know who is messing with everybody's head, but somebody is. I'm being blamed for everything." Jason spoke in a rush, releasing his grip on her. He began pacing back and forth causing concern to stir in Dylan.
"Even for the air in the sky?" Dylan lamely jokes, earning a brief scowl from him. She stuffed her hands into dirty legging pockets, frowning. She went on to add as a serious note, "You want me to kick their asses?"
"No, how would that do any good?" Jason asked, seeming to be stir crazy.
Dylan didn't know. She had no answers these days. She could only catch a glimpse of death before she was forced to her knees.
"You aren't a screwup. Misunderstood, definitely, but that happens to be all of the misfits and loners today. Why would Batman have chosen you if he didn't see some good in you? Whether your past decisions were right or not the way everybody would go…" Dylan started a rant, trailing off at a loss for words.
Jason stopped pacing to raise an eyebrow at Dylan. A small smirk tugged at his lips. "You don't like Batman."
Dylan sighed, rolling her eyes. Of course, semi returned to his old cocky self. It's one of the many qualities she always did manage to overlook upon being in his company. She processed his reminder. "And?"
"Who knew the Dylan Covington could be soft?" Jason joked, poking her arm.
Dylan jumped as if she had been shocked by a bolt of electricity. Her breathing began to come out in a slow, cold, light blue wisps. A fear blossomed in her tiny heart. She'd lose him to death. When?
She couldn't be certain. Her eyes grew into slits. Shaking her head, she tried to fight off the overwhelming feeling of misery.
"What? Am I supposed to be hard for you, Cupcake?" Dylan grew to be her old self again. Eyeing, the boy in anger he could tell it was happening to her all over. She'd been down the same road to destruction; a few months prior to him nearly falling to his death. This time would be different for the both of them.
"Dylan, did you see something?" Jason asked, his voice rising in concern.
A cool blast of air shot past them, giving her chills. Small, tufts of clouds formed in the sky to float on by the yellow full moon.
"I felt something." Dylan corrected, grimacing.
Why were they still stuck in a graveyard?
"For me?" Jason teased, trying to lighten the mood.
Dylan worriedly chewed on her bottom lip. Her concern had become unbearable. She was getting sick of waiting for it to come to her. She knew the pain was only the beginning as the hairs on her neck rose. The brunette felt a tug, watching a frown form on his face followed by shock when she no longer stood in his presence.
"Dil, this is a scary experience! I want to go home!" The annoying voice of Ledger called in turn.
A dark, hollow pit is where the two found themselves.
Dylan grew numb all over. A harsh gulp came from the mellow woman. What in Hades name is going on?
