so this was inspired by Taylor Swift's song, and by PrimetimeDramafan82 , cause we were talkin' 'bout song titles for chapter names*
high school Lindanny*
Linda sighed as she listened to her friend talk about their song. The friend and her boyfriend maybe had a new song every month. Whereas Linda and her boyfriend didn't have a song- at all. Everyone she knew had a song- Erin, Joe, Maria, Mr. and Mrs. Reagan (both generations), even little Jamie had a song with his "girlfriend." Linda decided to bring it up to Danny on their date that Friday.
"What's up?" Danny asked as he sipped his cola.
"Nothing. I was just thinking 'bout how we don't have a song."
"Huh?"
"Well, Danny, everyone has a song! Maria and Enrique, Erin and Jack, Joe and Hollie, you're mom and dad, you're grandparents. Even little Jamie's got a song."
"Yeah, because Baby Beluga is the most romantic song ever," Danny said sarcastically. "That's for, like, five year olds. And he's about to turn eight."
Linda shrugged, "it doesn't matter! He still has a song!"
"Well, we do have a song."
"Oh yeah? What is it?"
"Our song is a slammin' screen door, sneaking out late, tappin' on your window. When we're on the phone, and you talk real slow, cause it's late and your Mama don't know. Our song is the way you laugh, on the first date. Man, I didn't kiss ya, but I should have," he looked at Linda smiling. "And when I go home, 'fore I say 'amen', I ask God if He could play it again."
"Where'd ya read that?" She asked with crossed arms and a raised eyebrow.
"You don't believe I came up with that?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"This coming from the guy that wrote, 'Roses are red, violets are blue. You sweet, sexy thing, I love you'."
"That's a great poem!"
Linda giggled, "but seriously, Danny. Where'd ya read that?"
"Erin's diary."
"Danny!"
"I didn't even know it was hers till I was midway through October."
She looked utterly confused, "Nevertheless, it doesn't change the fact that we don't have a song."
"Okay, lemme think." Danny chewed his fries as he thought about their song. "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You."
"Thank you, but you're not thinking!" Linda said a little too loudly.
"Linda, get a grip. That was the song. Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You. Or how 'bout We Go Together or that Sonny and Cher song I can never remember the name of..."
"I Got You, Babe?"
"Yeah, that's our song. Think about it."
Linda ran some of the lyrics through her head. "I guess you're right."
"Course I'm right! I Got You, Babe is our song."
Linda nodded, "good. Glad that's settled!"
"Want some ice cream?"
"Of course!" She smiled, glad that they had a song, and glad that she was getting ice cream.
