A week had passed.
Niobe was better, much better.
Aside from the time she spent watching over Anakin, her time was divided between the training room and meditation.
This morning was like most others. Niobe sat in her meditation area allowing her mind to wander. The room Tony had gifted her consisted of mostly windows surrounded by nature. The glass could rise into the ceiling at her command, allowing her to sit in the garden. She felt peace in this room. Steve spent as much time in her room as she did. He admitted the room had a feeling, something hanging in the air that left him centered.
This morning, Niobe was alone. The sun was rising, giving off a soft glow, breaking through leaves.
Niobe reached out into the force. The warmth was comforting. She could feel the spirits of those they had lost. They were at peace.
"Niobeā¦"
"Obi-wan?" she asked.
She recognized the voice. Obi-wan was speaking to her. Rage bubbled inside her.
"How dare you," Niobe said.
She wrapped her mind around his signature, pulling him to her location through force projection.
"Niobe," Obi-wan said. "I am so glad you're alive!"
Niobe stood, stepping back from his outreaching hands.
"You tried to kill Anakin," she said. "You MURDERED Padme! You took her baby's life!"
Obi-wan looked baffled. He was unsure of how to respond. Niobe fought the urge to attack him.
"What are you talking about? Anakin attacked me! He killed Padme," Obi-wan said.
"He would never do such a thing," Niobe said. "He loved her. He would do anything for her."
"Anakin has become a sith," Obi-wan said. "You cannot trust him."
"And I am supposed to believe you?" she asked. "I have seen the condition you left him in. Luckily we are capable of healing him."
Obi-wan grabbed onto Niobe's wrists.
"No! You cannot save him!" Obi-wan said. "He's dangerous!"
Niobe shoved him away with the force. She looked at him with disgust.
"He loved you," she said. "How could you do this?"
"You have to believe me Niobe," Obi-wan said. "You know me. Search your feelings, you know something is different about him. I know you have felt the darkness around him."
Niobe hesitated.
"He is no longer Anakin," he said. "He is responsible-."
Obi-wan flickered. There were footsteps approaching.
"No!" Obi-wan said. "Wait! Please!"
"Obe!"
Niobe turned around as Obi-wan faded away. Tony approached the couple with a kid trailing behind.
"I uh, I wanted you to meet the kid you helped save," Tony said. "Did we interrupt? Who was the hermit?"
"No one," Niobe said.
"Well, Peter," Tony said. "This is our resident alien. Obe, this is Peter."
"You're the man in red and blue?" She asked. "Peter Parker?"
"Yeah," he said. "T-thank you so much for your help. I'm sorry you got hurt."
"You're a child," Niobe said. "You allow this, Tony?"
Peter seemed to be struggling to find words. His head swung between Tony and Niobe.
"Kid," Tony said. "I briefed you ahead of time."
"I know," Peter said. "The whole thing is weirder in person."
"Why is he fighting?" Niobe asked.
"I have these powers," Peter said.
"I'm aware," she said. "Tony, why are you okay with this? He could have died."
"You've been fighting for years now and I'm pretty sure you qualify as a kid. At least on Earth," Tony said.
"We were at war," she said. "Before the war, I was never left alone to handle dangerous situations. And no, I do not. I'm 22 years of age. Clint briefed me on the laws on Earth."
Tony stopped himself from responding. He raised a brow at the Jedi. Niobe groaned. He was looking for an explanation.
"We were stopped by an officer," Niobe said. "He claimed we were not allowed to have weapons on the street. If you want the rest, ask Clint. This is not the issue right now."
Tony pursed his lips and shook his head.
"Well," Tony said.
Tony grimaced. He looked at Peter.
"We can set something up," Tony said.
"Good," Niobe said. "I will await your decision."
Niobe held her palm out and pushed the two from the room with a gentle touch.
OOOOOO
Niobe's breath was heavy. She blocked bullet simulations with her blade. She cut through robot after robot as she moved through the room.
"E.T.!" Tony said.
Niobe looked over her shoulder as she shoved a robot into a wall. She let out a sigh.
"Obe, listen," Tony said. "Before you say no, just hear me out."
Niobe shut off her lightsaber. She waved away the training program and faced Tony.
"Train him," he said.
"What?" She asked.
"Be his master-thingy," he said. "You told us you trained under a master, be his."
"We are not the same," she said. "How could I train him properly."
"You have the basics," he said. "Your whole patience, be mindful of your feelings vibe could help him."
Niobe's face crumpled in uncertainty. Tony let out a sigh.
"You're right," Tony said. "He's just a kid. You could help him be prepared for situations like the other night."
"I'll think about this," she said.
OOOOOOO
Niobe stood against the door of Tony's car. They waited outside a high school.
"Why are we meeting here?" Niobe asked.
"Quicker," he said.
"You want to show off," she said.
He gasped, holding his hand to his chest.
"Who? Me?" He asked.
A bell rang and before long children walked out of the building. Whispers broke out. Tony Stark was at their school.
"They are staring," she said.
"I'm not the one in a sports bra," he said.
"This is not a bra," she said. "I wear traditional Jedi attire."
Tony scoffed.
"Its a bra," he said.
Despite the children's obvious desire to speak to him, the avoided moving closer. At least most of them.
"Dude!" A boy said. "That's Iron Man!"
The boy closed the distance.
"I'm such a big fan!" He said.
"Thanks, kid," Tony said. "Want an autograph?"
The boy's head nodded at a pace that had Niobe concerned.
"Better yet," he said.
Tony took off the watch he was wearing. He placed the watch in the boy's hand.
"Why don't you take care of this for me," he said. "What's your name?"
"Flash, sir," he said.
Flash appeared to be close to fainting as he held the watch in his hand.
"Flash," Tony said, "this is my close friend, Niobe."
Niobe tipped her head to Flash. She wanted to leave.
"Nice to meet you, ma'am," Flash said.
"No need for formalities," she said. "You have achieved your fantasy. We need to see Peter Parker, please."
Flash's eyebrow rose.
"She's an alien," Tony said.
The crowd let out a collective whoa. Niobe looked at Tony in exhaustion. Before she could search his mind for his plan he spoke again. This was not going to end well for her.
"She has powers too," Tony said. "Why don't you show them your Jedi tricks? I'll find the kid."
Niobe simmered. She should have seen this coming. Tony ran off leaving her with a now captivated audience. Anakin was better in these situations. She had never been crowd friendly.
"Where are you from?" A girl asked.
Niobe examined her. She was pretty and appeared to have popularity among them.
"Liz," Niobe said. "I am from another galaxy."
The girl was taken back.
"How do you-," Liz asked.
"I can see into your mind," Niobe said.
"Is that your power?" Flash asked.
"My power comes from the force," Niobe said. "The force allows me to be an enhanced individual to keep the peace in my galaxy."
"Why are you here?"
The crowd turned to the new voice. A thin girl with a blank face stood in the back.
Michelle.
"I came here by an accident," Niobe said. "I remain because my closest friend is in need of medical attention."
Niobe saw a flicker of intrigue in the girl's eyes. However, Michelle squashed the emotion before her face could respond.
"So, what do you do on the team?" Flash asked.
Niobe held the girl's eyes a little longer before looking back to Flash.
"Pardon?" Niobe asked.
"Tony has the iron suit, Thor has his hammer, Captain America has the shield," Flash said. "What do you have?"
"I will show you as long as the group steps back," Niobe said.
They moved back several feet. Niobe grabbed her lightsaber, wondering what was taking Tony so long. Taking an inhale, she ignited the blade. Bright yellow shot out of the tube in a hiss. The crowd once more made noises of astonishment.
Twisting the blade to be horizontal in front of her, she ignited the other end. Applause rang out.
Niobe
The Jedi jerked backward. The crowd stepped away with an audible hush washing over them. Niobe squeezed her eyes closed.
Niobe, please.
She brought a hand to her head. Obi-wan was sliding through cracks in her mental shields. In front of her, Niobe heard the doors of the school open. She sighed, sealing off the shields, she shut off the lightsaber and attached the blade to her belt.
"That was bitchin'!" Flash said.
"Indeed," Tony said.
He clapped Flash on the shoulder. Peter trailed behind him.
"I'm afraid we must take our leave," Tony said. "M'lady."
Tony opened the door to his car. She climbed in as Peter went into the back.
