Spock watched as their captain walked away. What was going on with him? He was normally more conscious of the needs of others. Frowning he turned back to the others. They wore various looks of disbelief and worry. "We should rest or take care of personal matter while we can. Stay within shouting range." It wouldn't do for them to get seperated.

As the others either sat more comfortably or left to relieve themselves Spock sat beside Nyota. "You are...distracted. Would you like to take about it?" She jerked ever so slightly before relaxing her shoulders.

"You and Kirk both keep asking me that." She looked around before sighing. "It might be nothing. I don't know. It could just be stress." He waited for her to continue. Her slim fingers ran through the end of her hair. "I brought female products with me."

Right being female she would need sanitary items and more time to take care of that particular problem. "Were they loss in the crash?" She gave a nod. "We can figure out a method to handle it. Cloth-"

She shook her head. "No. That's not it. I should have started the day we left but..." Nyota shrugged her shoulders making a small face. "So either stress or..."

Fear, shock, sadness, and finally happiness filtered through Spock. Before it settled on worry. "You should let the doctor know. He could examine you. Jim should be told as well."

"I'll tell Leonard when we stop tonight. We should have time for a proper exam then. As for Jim...I don't know. He seems off. I don't want to stress him out any more than he is." She leaned back streaching out her legs. "Killer pace he is putting us through. How are your ribs?"

Silence streached between them. "You should tell him. I don't think... He will blame himself again if you were to loose another baby."

She froze and slowly turned to him. "Jesus he doesn't still think what happened was his fault? I put myself on that mission. I was the only one who could speak Klingon." She sighed. "He still thinks it's why we broke up doesn't he?"

He gave a small nod. "Humans are flawed in thinking they are the ones at fault when they are not. Jim more so than others."

"Well at least he takes the blame instead of taking none." They share a smile as the others began to gather back around. He watched them as they talked amongst themselves. As the minutes ticked by Spock frowned. There was still no sign of Jim and the fifteen minutes were nearly up.

The half Vulcan stood. "I'm going to see what is keeping Jim. If I do not return in five minutes keep heading to the mountains."

He followed where he had last seen his former captain heading. Nearly three minutes passed before he heard foot steps ahead of him. Moments later Jim appeared. His hand wrapped in a ripped cloth. Already it was stained red. "Captain? What happened?"

Jim glanced at his hand. "It's nothing. I slipped and cut it. Where's everyone?" He jumped over the log and a few short steps later he was next to Spock.

"They are about to start heading to the mountain again. I figured we could catch up." There was a look of terror on Jim's face as he rushed past Spock. "Jim? What's wrong?"

"Why would you tell them to go without us?! They don't know what the he'll is out there!" He ran and Spock kept pace. It sent sharp pain up his leg warning him he was close to doing more damage to it. A few minutes passed and they reached the group. The fear faded from Jim's face as he looked over the group.

Spock laid a hand on Jim's shoulder. Terror and exhaustion pulsated through the small contact. He quickly moved his hand away. His stomach rolled with emotions not his own. Guilt laced under everything else. "Jim?" What wasn't he telling them? To cause that mix of emotions.

Jim looked at him then back to the others. After a moment he looked away. "Don't do that again. I don't want the group separated." As his former captain passed him he spotted five red crescent on the back of his neck. He opened his mouth and then closed it. McCoy glanced at him. Clearly he noticed as well. Was there someone else out there or were they self inflicted? Would Jim answer him if he asked?
