Words Aren't Enough

Chapter 28

Haley quickly turned off the phone and stuck it into her pocket. She grabbed her car keys off the end table and opened the front door.

Her eyes wide at the sight of Dan Scott at her door.

"Get out of my home. I know what you did. You killed him. You away my husband. My children's father. How do you live with yourself! I'm going to the police. You won't get away with this!" Haley yelled.

Dan walked into the home closing and locking the door behind himself.

"I had to do what needed to be done. Deb understood that. Which is why when i told her what i did she kept it to herself. She will understand why i had to do this too. I can't let you go to the police with this. You are not leaving this house alive. I would apologize but just like my son. You couldn't let things be and stop digging now Jamie's going to come home to his dead mother. Tragic but what can you do." Dan said. Pointing his gun at her. As he pulled the trigger.

...

Sometime Later

After multiple knocks on the door. Jamie tries to simply open the door. To his surprise it's unlocked he walks inside and spots his mother and begins to scream and cry. Yelling for her to wake up.

He searches her pocket and finds a cellphone. He quickly dials 911 and puts the phone to his ear.

"911 what is you're emergency.?" the woman asked.

"My momma is hurt. She won't wake up. I keep calling her and she won't answer me. She's bleeding all over. I need help. It's only me and my sister here she's a baby." Jamie said. As he told the operator his address and what his house looked like.

Sometime Later

Brooke and Lucas scanned the hospital waiting room.

At the sight of Jamie they ran over.

Brooke opened her arms to him.

Deb kept Jamie at a distance. "This is for family only." She said.

"We are only here to show support to Jamie and Lydia." Lucas said.

"I'm going to take Jamie for a walk. Over to the vending machines for snacks and drinks. Some time away from here is just what he needs." Brooke said. Taking ahold of the young boy's hand in hers.

...

Awhile Later

With a handful of different snacks Brooke noticed the four years old silence.

"Are you not hungry or thirsty.? whatever happens you and Lydia are going to have me and uncle Lucas." Brooke said.

Jamie looked back at her.

"My grandpa Dan killed my daddy. I saw it from the cellphone in my mommy's pocket the video recording. I think he hurt my momma too." Jamie confessed.

Brooke felt her head spinning at this revelation.

As the sound of footsteps bought her attention forward.

Lucas walked over to her. The expression on his face somber.

Brooke looked back at him. Then over at Jamie.

"You stay right here and don't move." She said. Getting up from her seat joining Lucas across the room.

Lucas took ahold of her hand. Taking a deep breath before he spoke.

"I'm sorry. She's gone. Haley's dead." He said. The emotion in his voice thick.

Tears welled up in Brooke's eyes as she looked from Lucas to Jamie.

"This is too much Luke. Nathan. Now Haley. I can't breath. How are we going to tell him.? It's not only that. Jamie told me that he saw a video on a cellphone Haley had in her pocket. It showed exactly what really that night. Dan killed Nathan." She said.
