"The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you're made of, not the circumstances." -Unknown

"Please?"

"No."

"Pretty please?"

"No."

"Pretty please with a cherry on top?"

"No."

"Pretty please with a super sweet cherry on top dipped in caramel and served with vanilla chocolate chip ice cream drizzled with 70% dark chocolate syrup on top and sprinkled with chocolate flakes?"

"No." replied Tom calmly without looking up from the book he was reading.

The book was about horcruxes. He figured that he had to do some more research on that particular topic considering that the person who was supposed to be destined to either defeat him or be defeated by him, had a part of him in her.

Rose, on the other hand, let out a mature 'humph' at his lack of response.

"Why not?" she whined- I mean, asked.

"Because what you are asking for is fallacious." was his swift reply.

"All I asked was if we could inform my parents that you kidnaped me." she said looking down at her feet nervously. "I mean, I don't want them to worry, you know. The doctor said that dad had a bit of blood pressure during the last checkup. He said that dad should try to keep his mind stress free, because stressful situations can cause your blood pressure to spike temporarily. And I'm pretty sure that finding out your daughter was kidnapped would be counted as a stressful situation."

"I fail to understand you are so vexatious. They are not your parents, remember?" asked Tom Marvolo Riddle.

"Maybe not by blood; Maybe they didn't participate in the process of reproduction to have me, maybe mum didn't push me out of her body, maybe they don't constitute majority of my DNA system, but they ARE my parents and Dudley is my brother. No matter what you say." she said with a glint in her emerald eyes.

Tom, on the other hand, sneered, "I introduced you to the magical world,-showed you its power- and you still want to go back to the filthy muggle world? You are a witch, Rose. You will always be more superior to them, and it is time you realise it. It is time you realise just how worthless they truly are, realise just how much better you are compared to them."

Rose stared at him with wide unblinking eyes for a few seconds before blurting out, "Did you know you have a God Complex?"

Tom Marvolo Riddle raised an elegant eyebrow in question. "I didn't realise that stating that muggles are useless compared to wizards would have a term of it's own."

"Yes, definitely God Complex." she mumbled to herself (of course he heard it anyway) before clearing her throat and proceeding to explain the term, "God Complex or Jehovah Complex is not a clinical term nor diagnosable disorder and does not appear in the Diagnostic and Strategic Manual of Mental Disorders. However, it is widely used in a casual form. In fact, did you know that the first person to use the term god complex was Ernest Jones? His description, at least in the contents page of Essays in Applied Psycho-Analysis, describes god complex as simply, the belief that one is a god."

He gave her an unimpressed stare, "Congratulations on your ability to categorise me. Unfortunately, it still does not change my mind about your current... situation."

"Oh come on!" she exclaimed in frustration. "Please can we tell my parents? They are very understanding people. I'm sure they'll understand. We can even work out a system! Like, I'll visit my parents and Dudley for a couple hours every week during the weekends, and I'll spend the rest of my days here... Of course, I'll also have to buy the course books for Med School. There is no way I'm giving up my dream. There is a Magic Doctor here also, right? Maybe I can try out for that. I wonder if they-"

"-Again, I simply must ask, what makes you think I will let you go?" asked Lord Voldemort.

She sighed tiredly, "Please? At least then we can both be a tad happy and not be completely and utterly miserable. I promise to come back, every single day. Honest..."

"And what exactly makes your promise unbreakable?" he asked.

"I have already committed the Sin of Lust. I'm not going to break a promise and give God more reasons to send me to Hell. Well, more than I already have, that is. And besides, when I promise something, I never ever break my promise. Ever." said Rosalie with a finality in her voice.

"If you do," spoke Lord Voldemort calmly without looking up from his book, "then I shall simply kill your entire family while you watch and then take you anyway."

She gave him a pointed glare, not that it affected him anyway, "You won't have to, as it will never come to that. Now can I go? Please?"

Lord Voldemort sighed before looking away from his book and deep into her eyes, "Alright." he replied shortly. (and his answer was definitely not the result of the puppy dog look on her face at that moment)

Her eyes lit up her face with happiness on hearing his answer.

"We shall go tomorrow." he continued, "It is evening already, almost dinner time. Besides, tomorrow is Saturday, it will be most auspicious."

She nodded vigerously. "Thank you so much! You are the best kidnapper ever!" she said- and wow, she never thought she would ever say those words-before proceeding to engulf him a tight hug.

Her eyes widened after a second, when her mind had processed the fact that she was hugging not only the man who had kidnapped her, but had also threatened her family's life.

She blushed before untangling herself, "Sorry. I'm a hugger."

Lord Voldemort looked at her coldly before motioning to the chair in front of him. Rose got the hint and sat on it with perfect posture-her mother would have been so proud-and was the epitome of grace and elegance.

There was nothing but silence for a few minutes, as Lord Voldemort continued to read his book and Rosalie Dursley tried to get her brain up to speed.

Personally, Lord Voldemort did not mind physical contact with his horcruxes. In fact, it almost made him happy. Which was why-while he did not reciprocate- he did not entirely reject Rose Potter's hug.

If he would have used his legilimency skills on Rose during those few minutes of tranquility and quietude, he would have been made aware of the hurricane of turmoil going in the younger girl's mind, particularly in the amygdala and hippocampus parts of her brain.

It was quite hard for her to comprehend the fact that someone so painfully attractive was actually quite evil.

According to the movies in the telly, the bad guys were always these awful looking sort of people with huge ripping muscles and scars on their faces and body, were extremely scary to look at, had little to no fashion sense, and they would curse ever so often. (And they were definitely not so bloody charming!)

So, when her eyes had spotted the strangely dressed tall man who was so pretty looking, on the street of Privet Drive and who carried himself like a king, she did not categorise him as a threat. After all, he had not fit the descriptive 'stranger danger, bad guy' look, that her father had told her to never go near.

She made a silent vow to herself to never judge books by their cover ever again.

The sinfully beautiful man who was seated in front of her had killed her biological parents-and many other people-, had kidnapped her, was racist, bigoted, had a major Superiority Complex and was not afraid to resorting to blackmail and threats in order to get his way. Rose was also debating the fact that he had OCPD - Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder, or at least a form of it. She was pretty sure he needed psychological help and many therapy sessions. Not to mention, he was also incredibly rude.

'But,' she thought as she looked at his sculpted face, 'he was also handsome and dangerously smart and handsome and cunning and handsome and sweet(ish) and handsome and loved pets and handsome and charming and handsome and-'

She shook her head abruptly in denial.

Stupid harmones.

It was at that moment that Rose realised that the devil was real, and he was not a little red man with horns and a tail. He could be beautiful. Because he's a fallen angel, and he used to be god's favourite.

TERMS USED:

(along with a brief explanation, in case you are interested in learning more about them)

Obsessive–compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) is a characterised by excessive concern with orderliness, perfectionism , attention to details, mental and interpersonal , and a need for control over one's environment, which interferes with flexibility, openness to experience, and efficiency, as well as interpersonal relationships. Workaholism and miserliness are also seen often in those with this personality disorder. Persons affected with this disorder may find it hard to relax, always feeling that time is running out for their activities, and that more effort is needed to achieve their goals. They may plan their activities down to the minute – a manifestation of the compulsive tendency to keep control over their environment and to dislike unpredictable events as elements beyond their control.

A God Complex is an unshakable belief characterised by consistently inflated feelings of personal ability, privilege, or infallibility . A person with a god complex may refuse to admit the possibility of their error or failure, even in the face of irrefutable evidence, intractable problems or difficult or impossible tasks. The person is also highly dogmatic in their views, meaning the person speaks of their personal opinions as though they were unquestionably correct. Someone with a god complex may exhibit no regard for the conventions and demands of society, and may request special consideration or privileges.

Jehovah complex is a related term used in Jungian Analysis to describe a neurosis of egotistical self-inflation. Use included in psychoanalytic contributions to psychohistory and biography, with, for example, Fritz Wittels using the term about Sigmund Freud in his 1924 biography and H. E Barnes using the term about George Washington and Andrew Jackson.

God complex is not a clinical term nor diagnosable disorder and does not appear in the Diagnostical and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

The first person to use the term god-complex was Ernest Jones(1913–51). His description, at least in the contents page of Essays in Applied Psycho-Analysis, describes the god complex as belief that one is a god.

Amygdala

Shaped like an almond, the amygdala is responsible for multiple emotional responses, like love, fear, anger and sexual desire. Shippensburg University states that in animal studies, stimulation or removal of the amygdala alters the emotional response: electrical activation causes aggression, while surgical removal results in indifferent emotional reactions. Therefore, damage to the amygdala can result in abnormal emotional responses, and overstimulation causes excessive reactions.

Hippocampus

The hippocampus is another part of the limbic system that sends information to the amygdala. One of the memory processing centers of the brain, the hippocampus interacts with the amygdala when a person has memories with emotional ties. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research adds that the connection between the hippocampus and amygdala "may be the origin of strong emotions triggered by particular memories," which explains emotional responses to traumatic memories.
