Chapter 35
Once they jumped into the portal they were once again back in Storybrooke, they were somewhere in the middle of the forest, Michael had no idea exactly where they were but looking at Jefferson he knew that the man had landed exactly where he wanted. They walked for a couple of minutes and that was when he saw a small cabin covered with branches and leaves, he stopped and watched Jefferson walk inside, he dropped the bags that he was carrying and knelt on the forest ground.
"What am I going to do?" he whispered to himself. Covering his face with both hands he started crying in desperation "What have I done?"
"When you are finished with your pity party I need those bags inside, we have work to do." Jefferson smirked and walked back inside.
As he heard Jefferson ordering him around he made a decision, a decision that would send him to jail but at least he hadn't hurt anyone so far and maybe, somehow he could in time get his children to forgive him for abandoning them again for a revenge that wasn't worth the loss of his children's love and respect. He just needed to wait, try to discover what Jefferson's plan was and make his escape. Cleaning his tears and feeling himself fill with confidence he grabbed everything and went into the cabin closing the door behind him.
Dinner had been fun thanks to Fred and David that spent dinner time making jokes and somehow managed to start a food fight throwing the small cherry tomatoes that were on their plates at each other. The food fight ended up with the two grown men being pulled by their ears by an angry fairy that was currently scolding them and making them pick up all the tomatoes that were rolling around on the floor.
"Purple leave them, boys will always be boys." Regina said unable to stop laughing.
"Yes they will be but they can be boys with manners." Purple responded before going into the kitchen.
"She's harsh." Charming said while rubbing his ear.
"Yes she is." Fred responded while diving under the dinner table to grab what he thought was the last tomato.
"She wouldn't have done it if you two had behaved like adults." Kathryn told them while she started helping Snow to clear the table.
"Well at least we got a good laugh and had some fun." David stated.
"Yes we did." Fred said proudly, showing his hands that were full of tomatoes.
"Ok guys, let's clean this up and get the dishes to the kitchen before Purple gets back in here." Emma said still smiling. She grabbed the plates that Kathryn had in her hands and went to the kitchen followed by David, Snow and Fred that helped carry the rest of the dishes.
"Henry do you have any homework?" Regina asked gently.
Sighing Henry answered "Yeah, math, I hate it."
Smiling at her son she got up from her chair and took Henry's hand "Come on, I'll help you."
"Thanks mom." He looked at Kathryn and wished her a good night because he knew that after he finished his homework was bedtime for him.
Almost ten minutes later Emma walked out of the kitchen and saw Kathryn alone folding the dinner towel.
"They went to do Henry's homework." She said before Emma asked.
"Nice." Looking at the other blonde, Emma decided they needed to talk "Kathryn I really need to thank you."
"Thank me? Why?" She was confused.
"Thank you for everything you did for Regina, thank you for all you keep doing for her, thank you for being her friend."
Seeing the honesty in Emma's eyes she simply answered "Emma you don't need to thank me, I love Regina, she is my best friend and I will always be here for her."
Emma approached the older blonde and hugged her "Thank you for helping me too."
Returning the hug she simply responded "You are welcome."
It was five in the morning when Emma's phone started ringing, she clumsily searched for it with her left hand, looking at the screen she saw it was Ruby calling so she answered it "This better be good for you to call me at this hour." She said sleepily.
"Emma, Michael Tillman is here in the station, he is seating right in front of me." Ruby said quickly.
"What?" Emma screamed as she jumped off the bed.
"Emma what's wrong?" Regina asked worriedly.
"Ruby don't let him go anywhere, I'll be there in fifteen minutes." She hung up and started to get dressed.
Sitting on the bed Regina asked "Emma what the hell is going on? You are starting to scare me."
"They are back, Michael is at the station, I need to get there fast." She finished zipping her boots and moved closer to her love placing a gentle hand on her face "Everything will be alright, I promise." She kissed the brunette softly on the lips "I'll be back soon." And she walked out of the room leaving behind a preoccupied Regina.
