"So, how the heck do we go about doing this?" Embry asked as we sat at the bar in the kitchen, trying to work on our math project.
"I don't know." I sighed, "I don't even know where to start." Kanook, whom was laying down off to the side with his head in his paws, perked up when he heard the front door open. Davina and Elodie were home. From where I sat, I could see across the dining room of them coming in. Elodie darted to her room and Davina closed the door behind them, carrying Scarlett's car seat in one hand.
"Hey Embry. Athena." Davina said as she walked into the kitchen. "How's the project coming along?" She asked.
I groaned a bit. "Not good, I don't even know where to start." I stood up and went and took the car seat from her.
"One thing you could do is perhaps visit the aquarium." Davina suggested as I put Scarlett's car seat on the bar, and took her out. "I can take you on Sunday, and Embry, you can see if your mother would like to tag along?"
Embry nodded. "Yeah, sure, I'll ask her." He gave a light tickle to Scarlett's feet, and she gurgled and kicked her feet. I smiled a bit and then went to put her in her play yard before coming back to the kitchen, and placed the car seat down on the floor and took my seat again.
"Hmm, we can go ahead and create a list of what habitats we want to do." I suggested.
He nodded. "Maybe the sharks, or tropical fish?"
"I think they mean actual habitats like coastal waters, coral reefs and open waters." I said. "Stuff like that."
"Yeah, that does make more sense." He gave a nod.
We ended up choosing four habitats to do, coral reefs, coastal wetlands, deep sea and kelp forest, before he left.
"So." Davina said, as we started getting some stuff ready for supper. "Embry seems nice."
"Yeah." I nodded. "He really is." I glanced over at her, seeing a look on her face. "What?"
"Nothing." She said, shaking her head. "He just seems like a great kid."
I just nodded, wondering what she meant by that, though I had a feeling, but I shook it off, and helped her to get the spaghetti ready.
"Elodie!" Davina called for her once we had everything ready. We had the spaghetti, salad and garlic cheese bread. I got the tea out of the fridge, and some cups, before pouring the tea in the cups and placing them on the table with the plates. I went to the living room and picked Scarlett up. I walked back to the kitchen to check the fridge, to see if I had any stored breast milk, but none. I would have to work on that later. So instead, I went to the kitchen table to feed Scarlett while I ate.
After we had supper, I went up and gave Scarlett a bath before putting her down for the night. I then went to my bonus room, sitting on the couch, and completing the last of my homework. After I completed that, I went to get my shower, and then came back to watch a bit of TV before going to bed as I did have school tomorrow.
I sighed as my alarm went off the next day, and I got up and ready for the day. Before starting to get ready myself, I went into the nursery and changed Scarlett and then went downstairs for breakfast. I had made sure that Davina had plenty of milk for Scarlett while I was at school. At least she didn't have to go to daycare today, as Davina was working nights, so she would keep her at home on those weeks.
I let Kanook out to the bathroom and then let him back in and fed him before heading back upstairs to get ready for school, and then leaving the house at 8 to walk to school. This would be a long week. Elodie's birthday was today, and her party on Saturday, and I had a dentist appointment on Friday, and of course, the aquarium on Sunday.
Embry was not at school today. For some reason, it kind of made the day kind of dull, but I didn't dwell on it too much. I just got through the school day and once school ended at 3:15, I walked home, since Davina had to work that night, she was still asleep, and Elodie was watching TV in the living room. I got my homework done and eventually started on supper and around 7, I had Elodie to get her bath, since her bedtime was 8:30, but since she didn't start school until next week, she may be allowed to stay up a little longer, Davina would be getting up at 8 to get ready for work.
Embry wasn't at school that next day either, but he did text me and told me that his mother was on board for the aquarium on Sunday. In fact, he wasn't at school again until Friday, but of course, I got picked up from school at 2:30 to make it to my 4pm dentist appointment in Port Angeles. All went well, I was there for a simple cleaning, and my teeth looked good. Except for my wisdom teeth, which needed to come out. So we got that appointment set up for the last week of September and headed home to get ready for Elodie's birthday party tomorrow.
Quite a few kids showed up, about three friends that Elodie had made at orientation at her school, along with a couple of the reservation kids, and Sam and Emiy showed up, she brought her older niece, Hannah. Bethany also showed up with her little sister, Juliet. Embry, and his mother, Tiffany also showed up, so we could meet each other before tomorrow, she seemed quite nice, and her and Davina, from what I saw, got along pretty well.
The party ended a couple hours later, and Sam and Emily, and Tiffany and Embry stayed to help us clean up before they left. We took it easy the rest of that day, so we could get ready to be up early tomorrow.
