So, a little over the moon right now because I kid you not I had just mentioned to Roy that I had NO ideas for this damn thing and somehow this came out today in the span of a few hours? The actual hell?

Anyways, so, so sorry for the long wait. Had shit happen, then more shit, my mood and motivation went to shit. It was all shit. But, hopefully, this isn't shit.

Title is a song name that I kept feeling fit these two (and also because I suck at chapter names.) But the song belongs to Written By Wolves.

Also, real quick. I took notice last night going through one of my other works and saw that FF was taking the liberty of taking out words from the document when the words are still there in the original. It's a bug with the website, has nothing to do with me, so if you catch that I do apologize on behalf of this dinosaur of a website.

Anyways, enjoy! Hopefully see you sometime soon if I get hit with more. (Fingers crossed, right?)

When they had finally returned home, driving through every town they passed by, Rei was shaking down to his bones he was so cold. On top of the freezing cold, where his toes and fingers had gone numb, he was also starving something fierce and knew that Gao and Dante weren't fairing any better. At least Gao had been spared the icy chill of the night, being snug inside the carriage the entire time unless they took the very off and random stop by a tree on their journey.

As the familiar black iron gates came into view as the carriage rolled up the street, bits of the morning sun beginning to peak over the horizon, Rei's already cold body felt another chill run down his spine.

The one and only time he had ever dreaded seeing those gates was when he had first arrived to manor when he was just a boy, had viewed the place like a prison cell with the high walls and the iron gates that blocked out the rest of the world around them.

Eventually the manor became less and less like a prison, but now, coming up to it after the events of the past few days, that's all he viewed it as again. A prison that kept them all trapped in there with no real way out this time.

Did he even really want a way out though? If given the chance again to run, would he even take it?

As the carriage was pulled to a stop, Gao coming out to open the gates for them to pass through, Rei took a quick side glance beside him.

Since slapping Him across the face, Rei hadn't heard a peep out of Him. They hadn't even resumed their game of side glancing each other the whole way. When they had those random and far too few stops on the way home, they hadn't looked in either direction or uttered a sound.

With a flick of the reigns the horses moved forward again, pulling through the iron gates and stopped off the broken off path from the main drive.

Like the entire time Dante silently dismounted the driver's seat, letting Gao climb up to put the horses and carriage away off the side of the manor.

Almost frozen to the seat, Rei hadn't moved even when Gao came up and sat beside him on the still warm cushion of the bench. Only coming out of it when Dante cleared his throat, dragging Rei's attention towards him standing on the side of the carriage by the steps with his hand held out in offering to help him down.

Rei blinked a few times, staring at the pale hand for a minute before his eye shifted up to the crimson eyes looking into his questioning ones. Did he take it? If he did, was that him accepting everything that had happened in the past 24 hours and just letting it be brushed under the rug?

Dante cleared his throat again, hand twitching slightly as he moved his equally frozen fingers for Rei's hand. He was slowly starting to grow impatient, but given the heaviness of everything he'd wait for Rei to make the move and either accept or decline his hand; decline Him.

With a deep breath in, Rei's head going around in thousands of circles about the pros and cons of doing anything, his hand finally found Dante's as he allowed him to gently tug and help him down from the bench and steps.

Wordlessly, hands still held together as they walked up the path to the front porch and up the stone stairs, Dante led him into the warm manor. Stopping in the foyer where he finally released Rei's hand and went to reach for the coat on his shoulders only to have Rei jerk away from him.

"I got it." He bit out in a slight snarl, unclasping the buttons to the thick coat that had barely kept him warm the entire trip home.

Dante held his hands up and stepped back to give him some space. His own hands and fingers going to the buttons of his coat before shrugging it off his shoulders to place it in the closet by the doors.

"Hungry?" He finally asked, his throat slightly dry and hoarse from the cold air that had seeped into his throat and chest.

Rei arched a brow as he shrugged off his coat, giving Dante another questioning look. He was starving, but also curious as to why He was trying so damn hard right now.

It wouldn't make up for what he'd done, or anything else. He could see He was trying, but was that really enough?

He gave a small nod, preferring the silence between them for the time being as he passed Dante his coat to put away and started for the kitchen first without him.

With how early it was the manor wouldn't be awake for another hour, unless one of the infants were to wake and if they had neither of them could hear anything right now so enjoyed the slight peace while they could.

Making himself comfortable on one of the stools behind the island, Rei sat down and waited and watched as Dante moved around the kitchen from the icebox to the stove and to the food pantry and back again.

"How do you want your eggs?" Came his voice, back to Rei as he went to cracking the eggs in a bowl.

"I don't care." Rei answered in a plain tone, his eyes moving away from the back of Dante's head and to the window above the wash basin.

"Okay..." Dante answered amongst another crack of egg shell, trying to focus on his task more than the cold shoulder Rei was still giving.

Could he really blame him though? Not really, but then how long was this going to stay between them? Could they live the rest of their lives like this? Was that how Rei wanted to go about it, just shut Him out whenever He was around and ignore Him?

"Anything else you want?" He asked as the eggs began to fry in the skillet above the heat of the flame, turning slightly to look back at him on the stool.

Rei finally met His eyes, his own narrowing slightly at Him. "I want Kai back." He answered in a biting tone.

Dante nodded back, "He will be."

"Now. You said when we got home you'd leave." He continued to bite out, his eyes narrowing harder.

Dante let out a breath, for once feeling compelled to comply with him without a fight. If it kept Rei happy then he'd leave, for now.

Rei watched Him intently as Dante took in another breath and closed his eyes, once more not understanding how the whole thing worked or if the crimson eyes that reopened and stared back at him were Kai's this time.

He frowned, looking around as if he didn't know where he was for a minute and turned to take in the stove and eggs cooking in the skillet behind him.

"When did we get home?"

Rei let out his own breath of relief, thank God Kai was back. He wasn't sure how it was possible to miss someone who had technically been there beside him the whole time, but he had missed him; for more reasons than one.

"Just a bit ago, things didn't go as planned so The Other One brought us home. Said he'd let you come back once we got here."

Kai nodded his understanding, once more looking to the skillet as if were a foreign object. Rei saw him look, his head tilting ever so slightly at the confusion written all over Kai's face. Of course he wouldn't know how to work a stove, he'd never cooked a day in his life, it was what he and the others were there for. But then that begged the question of how Dante knew how to, for now he wasn't going to sit on it too long though.

"I got it, why don't you sit down?" Rei offered as he came down from the stool, gently pushing Kai away from the stove and open flame before he burned down the entire manor with their kids trapped inside.

Kai just nodded back, taking one last look at the stove and questioning everything going on as he moved to sit at the island as he traded places with Rei.

Before the silence could come back over them, he cleared his throat some. Fingers tapping the top of the counter as he watched Rei finish up their breakfast.

"How long have I been out?"

Rei chewed on the inside of his cheek some, going over in his head just how long it had actually been. Which reminded him he was soon due for another dose of his medication before the pain seeped back into him.

"Almost two days." He answered sheepishly, turning halfway around to take in Kai's expression.

"Santo was there, he was after me and he shot at us. I got hit, Gao too, and you've been gone since."

Kai could only nod back, he remembered that, it was just the events after that were blank and a black hazy fog.

"Are you okay?"

Ray shrugged his shoulders a little. He was and wasn't at the same time, but wasn't sure how he could really tell him anything right now.

Getting something in their stomachs, some rest, and maybe even a bath was what they needed right now. The manor and kids would be tended to, it wasn't like they hadn't just disappeared into the bedroom for a full day before, even if that had been years ago. Though that option seemed the best course of action right now, get everything from the past few days out of their system and try again later.

"Are you?" He questioned as he met Kai's still confused looking eyes.

"Knee hurts." He answered in a small hiss, rubbing at it like he did when it flared up on him though didn't see his cane anywhere nearby.

"After we eat, I'll get you up to bed so you can rest. Okay?"

Kai only nodded back again, that sounded great if it weren't for the three flight of stairs he was going to have climb to get there. It was no wonder why Voltaire had moved his room to his office later on in life, it was hell having that many stairs just to get to bed.

Before they could really stop it, the silence came over them anyways as Rei plated their eggs and grabbed them each a glass of milk from the icebox. Coming to sit beside Kai at the island to eat, though when he did he was hit with just how tired he really was. He'd never had stayed up through a whole night before, that nap he had back in the carriage was hardly anything to keep him going and he was certain the second his body touched the bed upstairs he'd be out like a light.

"Thank you..." Kai murmured, picking around at the eggs on his plate as he looked at them.

"Everything okay?" Rei asked around his small mouthful of egg.

"I..." Kai paused, his own head feeling heavy and weighed down with everything that had been going on.

He knew that at some point he'd have to go back and keep his promise of stopping that shipment, but at this point was it even worth it all? He had tried to right a wrong, for Rei, and he'd ended up getting him shot in the process. He could have lost him, for good this time. Of course he'd go back to the docks on his own, but then how safe would Rei be in the manor if he just left him behind?

Never before had he given it much thought until now, but the mother of Rei's child was under the same roof as him. He trusted Rei, but could he trust her?

Should do something about it, if you're worried.

No. Rei would never forgive me if we did something to her.

It's either that, or she gets her claws back into him. Unless you want them making more babies behind your back.

He wouldn't.

Even with him saying that in his head, his eyes shifted towards Rei beside him without him noticing.

He wouldn't, right? He loved him, didn't he? He knew, without a doubt, that he loved Rei. Always would, but when he had questioned Rei before he was unsure and hadn't really given him an actual answer.

How could he love him though? He was a monster, blacked out from time to time because of the demon living inside of him now. He wouldn't blame Rei for falling out of love with him, he just knew it would kill him if that was the case.

Let me do it, you don't have to get your hands dirty.

I said NO!

He shifted unconsciously on his stool, picking at his eggs more angrily and grabbing Rei's attention for the shifting going on beside him.

"Are they too dry?"

Kai seemed to snap out of it slightly, his head swiveling again to look at Rei beside him with almost a dumb expression on his face.

"No, just not all that hungry right now."

Rei frowned a little, Kai needed to eat something but he couldn't very well force him.

"Okay." He finished off his plate as quickly as he could, coming off his stool and to Kai's other side to help him down and to their room.

"Do you want me to draw you a bath, or just get to bed and worry about that later?" He asked as Kai took his hand, figuring out his weight as he stood and hissed again as his knee flared to the point it almost burned.

"Take your time." Rei cooed with a small smile, letting Kai shift his weight around until he was ready.

Kai's heart near enough broke. As grateful as he was for the help, for the concern Rei had for him, he felt he didn't deserve any of it. Not after what he'd gone and done to him, not for all the things that had happened to him while living under his roof.

Would it be better if he let him go? Send him and his child as far away as he could just to save Rei from Him?

He shifted some more, the burning in his knee subsiding some. "I'm good."

Rei smiled again, taking the two of them out of the kitchen and towards the stairs. Coming back to the foyer Gao was coming into the manor with more of their bags, having already brought in others and looking like it was his last trip.

"Get some rest too." Rei said over his shoulder as he let Kai take the lead as they approached the stairs.

With one arm slung over Rei's shoulders, he used his free hand to clasp the railing and pull himself up the first step. One down and almost fifty to go.

By the time they got to the room, Kai's knee was burning to the point it was unbearable. Biting into his lower lip to keep the painful grunts and groans from seeping out as Rei shifted him to lay down on the bed and propped his leg up on a stack of pillows.

"I'm sorry." Rei said as he sat down on the side of the bed beside his legs.

"Not your fault." Kai grunted back between a hard breath, sweat trickling down his pale face as his fingers clenched and unclenched against the sheets of his bed.

Rei gave him a worried look, he'd never seen it this bad before and wasn't sure what to do for him or if there was anything he could do right now but let it pass. It always passed, but with how intense this pain seemed to be he didn't know how long it would take this time.

"I'm just going to start the fireplace up." He informed as he got off the bed, it bouncing back up once his weight came off it.

Kai watched him go, still panting out hard breaths as he shifted on his back to try and get more comfortable.

I can come back, it'd help.

No. He doesn't want you around, I don't want you around him.

I can help.

Just get out of my head!

Stubborn as always.

Kai let out a small growl, throwing his head back on the pillows he was propped up against. The burn in his knee beginning to spread up and down his leg to his toes as it began to prick painfully.

"Rei." He choked out, head lulling along his pillows to where he could see him.

Rei came back to bedside quickly, the fire going and growing in strength behind him and filling the space with warmth slowly.

"I can't..." Kai about sobbed out.

Rei wasn't sure what was going on right now, brushing Kai's bangs from his sweaty forehead in a means of comfort.

"What can I do?" His own voice cracked back as his heart dropped into his stomach that had started to twist on him.

Kai shook his head weakly at him, Rei couldn't do anything for him. But He could, and he hated it.

"I have to let him back out." He choked back out through another hiss as the pricking in his skin felt like he was being stabbed with tiny needles.

Rei arched a brow as his heart plummeted faster and harder to the pit of his stomach this time.

What exactly could He do for this? They shared the same body, wouldn't Kai still feel the pain? His mind raced backwards, all the times Dante had been present he could move around without the cane, only having it when he tried to pretend to be Kai.

How that was possible, he didn't know, but he didn't want to see Kai like this. It was unfair to him, but he was also torn on having to deal with Dante again when all he wanted was to be with Kai.

With a shaky hand now running back through Kai's hair he gave an equally shaky nod back to him, "Okay."

Kai let out a sigh of relief through the hard breaths he was taking in and out, his body seeming to relax some into the he let the dark and black hazy fog to cloud his mind and vision, the pain began to fade slowly with the fog as it came over him more until everything was nothing.

In a way it was akin to floating in water, there was no real sound aside from a slight buzz in his ears. Everything black and peaceful.

"He'll be fine now."

Rei's back tensed as Kai's eyes opened again, but this time it wasn't really Kai and he hated it.

"Right... I'm going to bathe. Do what you want." He snapped as he turned on his heel for the bathroom.

"You really don't like me, do you?" Dante called after him as Rei stormed across the room for the wooden door.

"What was your first hint?" Rei bit as he spun back around, "I don't understand a damn thing about this whole thing, I don't trust you or want you anywhere near me!"

"You're scared, I get that. But if you sat and let me explain more-" "I want nothing from you!" Rei cut over as he yelled at him, his fists clenching at his sides.

"Get that through your head, I am not yours!" He screamed louder, faltering slightly as his anger soared higher when Dante graced him with a small smirk as his response.

He was going to hit him again, the smug bastard.

"And are you really his?" Dante asked in a slick and smooth voice.

Rei's arms shook, "Of course I am! What kind of question is that?!" He spat out defensively.

Dante's smirk widened some, easily shifting himself off the bed and stalked closer to where Rei stood flawlessly. Taking in how harder he was beginning to shake and tremble, though if it was from nerves or anger Dante wasn't sure.

Rei stood his ground, heart slamming frantically in his chest. What was He doing now? He'd already said he wasn't allowed to touch him, but what exactly could Kai do to stop him if he was 'asleep'?

"If that's the case, then get rid of her." Dante hissed out as he got in Rei's face.

Rei's eyes widened some, staring in shock and disbelief. Where had that come from, and what did Mao have to do with any of this?

"Is this you asking, or Kai?"

"It wasn't a question." Dante responded as his smirk got more twisted.

Rei let out his own growl, his fingers itching as his hand lifted to strike only to get stopped by Dante catching his wrist midair.

"Is that a 'no' then?" He seemed to coo as he inched his face closer to Rei's.

Rei went to pull his hand away, Dante's grip only tightening on his wrist as he swallowed the bile rising in his throat.

"Unless Kai, and only Kai tells me to let her go, then she stays." He found his voice, making it as strong as he could as he struggled to get his hand back from Dante's tightening grip.

"Hn." Dante smirked more, letting Rei's wrist go stepped back from him. "We'll see."

Rei rubbed at his wrist as it throbbed slightly, his eyes narrowing again at the back of Dante's head as he sauntered back to the bed.

"Why does it matter if she's here or not?" Rei spat out at him once Dante was laid back down on the bed, ankles crossed and hands behind his head.

"Because she poses a threat that you're either ignoring, or too blind to see." Dante answered in a more leisurely tone.

"I already told Kai, I'm not going back to her."

"Then why keep her around?" Dante questioned as he rolled his head towards him along the pillows, "If she's nothing more than the mother to your child, then why protect her like you are?"

"Because she's still my friend. She's still more than just the mother to my child. But then again I don't expect someone like you to understand anything like that."

A slate brow rose, Dante going quiet to let Rei elaborate on what he was meaning. While at the look he was getting, Rei growled slightly in frustration and folded his arms around himself.

"You've only looked out for yourself, you say you're here for Kai but after seeing the state of what he's been living in for the past years without me here, that doesn't seem like that's been your true intentions. You've done nothing to help him, you've only expanded the empire his grandfather built on the blood of others and continue to use others for that.

"Everything you have done, has been to benefit yourself and the empire. Kai's own son has been neglected because of you because you're selfish, the world as we know it fears and hates him. Because. Of. You. You've taken an already fragile mess and only made it worse, have covered it in more blood and lies." He stopped to pause when he watched Dante's eyebrow lowered and he shifted on the bed, but Rei wasn't fooled for a second by any of it. Loading up to dish more hard truths out at him.

He wanted to make him squirm, to see the demon get taken down a notch from his arrogance. Take down his pride and ego and hit him where it hurt, and that was only if the demon actually felt anything at all. He could be wasting his breath for all he knew.

"You've not given a damn about anything, you haven't given a damn about Kai and what you've been doing to him all these years or the people he loves."

"Enough." Dante cut over him, averting his eyes as he looked away from him only to have Rei step back towards the bed.

"I know I'm not a saint, that I've done things I can't take back. But at least I'm not some twisted demon taking pleasure out of hurting those beneath me." He fired out, feeling slightly powerful as he watched said demon shifting uncomfortably again at everything he was saying.

"I said enough..." Dante ground out through clenched teeth, unable to look him in the face now as Rei towered over him beside the bed.

Rei didn't care, enjoying the powerful feeling he had over him and wouldn't stop till he was done when he said they were done.

"So what, you kept him alive and protected him when he needed it. He doesn't need you now, nobody needs you around. If you stick around then nothing is going to get better, no matter how many times you want to tell yourself that it will. He doesn't want you around either, so it's better if you just left to wherever it was you came from.

"The more you stick around, the worst things are just going to get for all of us. And I can't trust you any, so of course I'm scared of you. I have every right to be scared of you!" He started to yell again, watching Dante flinch slightly on the bed and his jaw tighten.

Just as Rei's mouth opened up to deal the final blow, a pale and shot out and his feet left the ground as he was thrown onto the bed on his back. Fear gripping and seizing his body up as Dante's came over his and pinned him down.

There was a dark fire in His eyes, His face close to Rei's again where His breath ghosted over Rei's face as he breathed out hard. His hands gripping Rei's wrists tightly again as He kept him pinned below him to the bed.

"I said enough." He growled out low, the dark fire in his eyes only getting darker.

Rei swallowed the lump that caught in his throat, hearing his blood rushing in his ears as he felt paralyzed to the bed and under Dante's heavy gaze. That powerful feeling he had barely glowing amongst the fear that had grabbed hold of him like a vice, though all that mattered was it was still there.

"And what're you going to do?" He challenged in his own growl, not bothering to try and move out from under Him at the moment.

Dante paused for a moment, the dark fire in his eyes not even flickering to go out as his breath heaved out of him again. His own heart starting to race in his chest.

Did He dare do what He wanted, take what He wanted and worry about the consequences later? Rei only had himself to blame in the end, He had warned him to stop and he hadn't. Was only right he put him back in his place, reminded him who the real master was in this house. It was a long time coming anyways, he reasoned. Rei was getting too comfortable sitting on His throne with him, it was time to put him back down at His feet. Where he belonged.

The moment pale lips crashed into his, Rei's body seized up again and a muffled noise came rushing out of him as his body jerked to push The Other One off of him only to have Dante press His body down into his harder where he was completely shoved down onto the bed.

A cold sweat began to cover Rei's skin as Dante's tongue broke past his lips and dived into his mouth. Eyes blown wide open he watched Dante's closed ones and his brows furrow, lapping up the taste of Rei with his tongue scouring the inside of his mouth.

Every muscle in his body tensed as Dante's hips came down and grinded into his own, a moan following closing after from within Dante's throat. The sheets getting twisted in Rei's fists as they moved again, though it was more like he was shaking again as they didn't budge any.

If he did anything more to fight back then that only hurt Kai in the end and he couldn't hurt him, didn't want to hurt him, but more importantly he didn't want this!

As Dante's tongue came back to play with his, Rei's nerves snapped and his mouth closed down tightly, biting down as hard as he could onto Dante's tongue. Blood quickly pooled in his mouth, Dante jerking off of him with a growl tearing out of his throat. His tongue bleeding and throbbing, wiping the bit of blood seeping out down the corner of his mouth.

Rei spat the blood in his mouth out to the side. Even with Dante jerking off him, his arms and legs were still pinned firmly onto the bed.

"Get off." He growled darkly, the joints in his fingers hurting from gripping the sheets below him for so long but didn't dare let go of them.

"Feisty." Was all Dante said with a smirk coming over his bloodied lips.

"Get. Off." Rei repeated in a deeper growl, not tearing his eyes from Dante's that had a glint of amusement in them amongst the burning fire.

Slowly, Dante's left hand slithered across Rei's arm to his neck. His fingers wrapping around him, quickly putting pressure down in his hold. Rei let go of the sheets at that, arms and hands going out wildly to stop him as his feet kicked and pushed along the bed, only serving to mess up the sheets around him as he began to panic.

Once more Dante lowered himself, placing his mouth near Rei's ear as his blood still trailed down his lower lip and chin.

"I'm done playing these games with you, do you understand me?" He started in a darker tone Rei had never heard come out of him before, his mouth only able to gape open as he tried to breathe as his lungs began to tighten with the lack of oxygen.

"You are mine, and you will do well to remember that. I own you, I own everything and everyone in this goddamn house. You are nothing compared to me and what I can do. All that power you think you have has been given as a mercy, and I can and will take it away if you don't start treading very carefully from now on. Am I clear?"

Rei nodded amongst the burning in his throat, his thrashing having died down as he laid there unmoving. Dante's words seeping into him as he began to tremble under His weight again.

If he was going to kill him then he just needed to hurry up and get it over with, and make it quick and as fast as possible.

Dante smirked at the silent agreement, pulling back enough but kept Rei pinned and wiped the trail of blood from his chin and bottom lip with an index finger while letting go of his throat. The tan skin where his hand and finger had been bruising quickly.

"Now, my little China doll, are we going to behave?" He cooed darkly as he wiped the blood away.

Rei's eyes teared up as his stomach churned harder, getting slapping in the face by the pet name Hitoshi used to call him. It sickened him having to hear it again, watch it come out of Kai's mouth even if he knew it wasn't Kai calling him that. Yet it didn't matter, it still felt like taking a sharp knife to the chest just the same.

He nodded again despite his body tightening more and turned his head to look away, the tears in his eyes but not falling as he laid there and waited.

Dante's hands and fingers went to the buttons down Rei's shirt, his eyes focused on what he was doing the entire time as Rei refused to look at him, though that small show of disobedience only irked him more.

"Look at me." He barked out in an order as he stopped at the fourth button down Rei's shirt.

Rei flinched but brought his head back around, the tears hanging in the corners of his golden eyes as he looked up into Dante's darkened ones.

He ground his teeth together, his fists clenching the sheets again in a death grip."I hate you." He spat out in a low hiss, only to get a cocked slate brow in return before another amused smirk tugged at the corners of Dante's pale and blood stained lips.

"Good." He chuckled some, taking hold of the fabric of Rei's shirt and ripped it apart down the middle, two of the remaining four buttons flying off.

Rei flinched again as the warm air hit his chilled and still sweating skin, his chest beginning to rise and fall more rapidly as he started to breathe heavier.

He tried to take himself somewhere else, anywhere but where he currently was. He'd done it before, though this time he was sure no matter how hard he tried to ignore what was fixing to happen he wouldn't be able to.

Just as he felt a warm hand come down and travel across his exposed skin, once more flinching at the touch, there came a knock on the bedroom door that snapped both of their attentions to it and Dante's hand froze against his stomach.

"What?!" He barked at the door, not moving from his perch of Rei's waist and legs.

Rei took in another breath, his mind screaming at him to call out for help to whoever was on the other side of that door while at the same time telling himself it was a pointless attempt. What could any of them do against The Other One? He'd only be putting their lives in more danger with his own if he did that, so kept his mouth shut but didn't dare look away from the door.

"Sir. It's... It's Natasha." Micah's voice came through the other side of the still closed door.

Dante's hand lifted off Rei's chest like he electrocuted him, quickly pulling himself off his legs and storming for the bedroom door. Rei quickly picked himself up off the bed, closing up his shirt with the remaining buttons he had left as his heart pounded for another reason.

With the door being jerked open, Dante's entire demeanor changed as his eyes met Micah's on the other side of the door.

"What happened?"

Micah shook his head slowly, it going down as he stared at the floor beneath their feet."I'm sorry..." He breathed out, getting shoved to the side as Dante rushed past him and down the hall towards Natasha's room.

"Micah?" Rei called once Dante was out of sight, jumping off the bed and coming to stand in front of the older male whose shoulders were starting to shake.

Micah again just shook his head, tears rolling down his face. "I'm sorry..." He repeated in a breath.

Rei reached out and put a hand to the man's arm, the tears he had been holding back for himself finally falling for everyone else.

"What do we do?" Micah asked through a broken voice as he started to crumble to his knees.

Rei wasn't sure what to say, what he could do, only coming out of it when a gut wrenching yell came from down the hall followed by something breaking. His feet moved him before he had time to think about it, rushing past Micah where he left him on the floor sobbing and threw himself into Natasha's room.

The dresser that had originally stood by the door was now on the floor, broken in chunks of wood along with the glass from the oil lamp and whatever else Natasha had placed up on there mixed in with the wood all over the floor.

Though the person who had shoved it down was Yuri, who was pacing the space between the foot of the bed and the bay window. Tears rolling relentlessly down his pale cheeks, his fingers stuffed in his mouth as he chewed at his nails while his feet slammed against the floor with every heavy step he took.

Dante was sat on the bed, holding Natasha's pale and lifeless hand in his gently, almost fondly, as his own face was covered in tears while he just stared at her sleeping face.

Rei watched as Dante took in a slow and steady breath even with the tears running down his face, yet he felt glued to the floor and didn't move an inch.

"I'm sorry momma, I couldn't protect you." He saw Him say those words, his own heart tightening, but at the moment couldn't tell if it was still Dante or Kai now.

He sounded like Kai again, and if it was Kai, then when and how and why did Dante let him back out right now? Or had he been there the entire time and not done a damn thing to stop Him from what He had been fixing to do?

With the new thoughts racing in his head, he was barely pulled out of them when Kai turned to look at him from upon the bed. His breath catching in his throat as their eyes locked, no longer seeing that dark fire in Kai's eyes but a scared and lost little boy looking back at him.

"What do we do now?" He asked in a broken voice.

Rei didn't know, he had wondered the same thing because now, without Natasha, they were all in more danger than they ever had been before.

After this, was there any way to go back to what they had before?
