Before we get any further, I hope you all fine and keeping safe from the virus.
That being said, "Where's the next chapter?!" I hear all of you crying out.
The thing is… I realized two things about this story, which totally did not come forth as a post-nut clarification no matter what anyone else might claim otherwise.
One, I'm losing interest in it.
Two, I'm not losing interest in the story as a whole, but rather the entire Hogwarts part of it.
So, what is to blame here? Me. This is my first fanfic, and I was pretty much a beginner when I started to write this. The difference is, I am now a beginner with a little bit more experience. When I re-read the entire story, it made me cringe quite a bit. Let me break it down as to what I envisioned when I started out, as opposed to what happened.
First. The entire relationship between Harry and Silena. I rushed into it like a jackass, without even developing Silena as a character, something that I still have not done. What I wanted, was that their relationship would be like a balance: Harry being the more logical side and Silena the more emotional side. Instead, Silena is just… present. She doesn't add anything of substance to the story as a whole. Twenty four chapters in, and she hasn't done anything of value, which is a great injustice on my part.
Second. The entire Hogwarts arc. I started this as a Tournament a la Triwizard Tournament, with Voldemort acting in the background, while being manipulated by the Titans. But, it got bloated, and drawn out. As opposed to the pacing during the Lightening Thief portion of the story, Hogwarts feels much more slower.
Third. Voldemort himself. I wanted to make him a powerful villain who would be used to destroy the seal on Hyperion, but he does fuck all during the entire part where he is active. Again, this was entirely my fault.
Fourth, Dumbledore and the Weasleys. They're pretty fucking stupid in this fic, so much so that Ron might as well be a caricature. I didn't really want that to happen, but it did.
So. What am I going to do moving forward? The first option was clear. Ignore all this, write a half-assed chapter as to what happens next, try and finish off the Hogwarts part and move on to the next arc.
But I don't think I want to do that. Instead, I am going to do a rewrite of the entire Hogwarts portion of the story. The Lightening Thief part will left alone. I will also be removing the scenes where Harry and Silena began their relationship, and flesh out Silena as a character, and delve deeper into their friendship before moving into romantic territory. I just hope that I don't fuck that up twice in a row.
Kind of sort-of spoiling it, but this time around, there will be no tournaments that distract from the main plot. No RWBY characters showing up apart from a few mentions here and there. As to why Harry and co would be in Britain? Well, a quest given by Hecate. That is all I am saying for now. One more thing, this will also allow me to, hopefully, actually put in more Harry Potter characters and make this arc more fun for me to write and for you all to read.
I will leave this message without changing the story for a couple of days. In the meantime, I will edit the chapters that are not going to be deleted. As soon as I have finished up the chapter that will kickstart the rewritten part, I will delete all the chapters I want gone along with this message.
Tata for now!
