Song: Pinch Me

Artist: Barenaked Ladies

AN: April 2020. I feel that this song is relevant to the world we are currently living in, in 2020; this song is 20 years old.

Seventeen-year-old Ferb sat in his room, looking out the window. It was a Saturday morning and the street was quiet. He could hear the birds chirping to each other and the squirrels chittering.

It was only 6:30am, but he could swear that there were usually more people out. The neighbours three doors down had a dog. They used to walk him at this hour. Maybe the poor pup passed. He was an older pooch. Ferb remembered watching them every morning from the time he was nine; however, he's been away at school for the past couple of years.

There were other neighbours who would go out for their morning jog. Though they moved away five years ago.

Ferb went downstairs for breakfast; he fried up some bangers and eggs and made himself some toast. Phineas didn't get up this early anymore, especially on weekends. Ferb made a pot of coffee, put his breakfast on a plate and went out to the backyard patio table.

There he ate his breakfast in peace. He observed the birds as they flittered to the bird feeders his parents had about the yard.

Ferb raised an eyebrow at his phone as it buzzed a text. The text was from Gretchen, she was away at school and hoped all was well with him and that she missed him. He tapped out his reply that he misses her as well and hopes that she'll be returning home soon.

Ferb continued to relax at the patio table, coffee half drunk. He glanced over his shoulder as he heard the patio door slide open. "Good morning," Lawrence greeted his son as he came out, coffee in hand and took a seat at the table. "Lovely morning." Ferb nodded in agreement.

Lawrence took a sip of his coffee before placing the cup on the table. "Any plans for today?" Ferb shook his head, he didn't have any concrete plans. Today he wanted to take it easy and not worry about anything. Lately it seemed that if it wasn't school, it was work, or Phineas, or Isabella. "Are you able to help around the yard for a bit?" Lawrence inquired.

Ferb nodded, why not? It would keep his hands busy and his mind focused. "Do you want me to tune up the lawnmower first?" Lawrence nodded as he took a sip of his coffee, "That should be done, shouldn't it?" Ferb agreed.

Ferb took his time, spending over two hours tuning up the lawnmower and making sure that the blades were sharp. He pulled the machine into the backyard and noticed his parents working in the garden.

Ferb pulled the cord to start the motor and made the first pass in good time. When he rounded the corner of the house, his mother flagged him down. He killed the engine and tilted his head to the side. "I've got some cold drinks in the fridge." She called out and Ferb replied with a thumb up.

Once Ferb finished the entire lawn, he put the mower back into the garage. He stepped through the doorway into the kitchen and made short order of two glasses of water, followed by a glass of juice. As he glanced out the window, he noticed the back gate open and a tall young woman step through. He knew her in an instant. He glanced around for his brother, but didn't see him.

Isabella came to the back door and let herself in. "Hey Ferb. How's it going?" Ferb shrugged. Isabella went into the kitchen and looked in the fridge for something to eat. "Is Phineas home?" Ferb blinked, "I didn't see him leave."

Isabella giggled, "Neither did I silly, that's why I asked. Can you find him for me while I make something to eat?"

Ferb raised an eyebrow at the neighbour girl who feels more at home in his house than she does in her own. He left the kitchen and ascended the stairs to knock on his brother's bedroom door. Ferb heard the unmistakable sounds of his brother waking up and stretching. "What time is it?" Phineas called. Ferb rolled his eyes, "It's time for you to get up and entertain your guest." Ferb called back then ducked into the bathroom for a shower.

Phineas got out of bed and stretched again. He then exited his bedroom and made his way downstairs. "Isabella? What are you doing here so early?" She giggled, "It's almost one o'clock in the afternoon."

Phineas walked into the kitchen, "It doesn't feel that late, what happened?" Isabella went over to him and ran her fingers through his messy hair, "We were up rather late last night."
