Hey guys, you ready for a lot of feels? Good.
Numb. That was how Alexandra felt as the days went by, she stayed by her sons side. Aro, Marcus, and Caius never strayed far, even when they had to hunt. One or two were by her side at all times, now Carlisle offered to get them all the blood they needed; but Vampires hunted for more than just blood. The three kings had to, in order to keep their frustrations, and anger at bay.
Their little mate stayed glued practically to Marcus's side. Mainly because Aro was usually the closest to Thomas, and Caius had to hunt a lot. The four were almost at each other's throats more times than not. Especially Aro and Alexandra, which ended in them barely looking at one another.
Carlisle had enough, when he noted Alexandra sobbing outside of the hospital late in the afternoon; in the pouring rain. Having marched in and all but dragged Aro to where his mate was. "This is ridiculous."
"Watch yourself Carlisle." Aro growled darkly. "We may be old friends, but I still rank above you."
"Not when you're causing your mate emotional distress." The blonde replied instantly. "Now, you two love each other. You need to quit with these petty arguments and come together as one now. That's what Thomas needs, for you both to be strong."
Alexandra looked up at her stubborn mate, before looking back at Carlisle. The words her mate had thrown at her earlier that day, still stung.
Flashback
"Come here Aro." Alexandra whispered, trying to hold him to her. Marcus and Caius were out hunting so it was just the two of them. She needed to hold someone, and well her ebony haired mate was typically the perfect cuddlebug.
"No." He replied simply, ignoring the looks some of the nurses sent him. After all it was strange for a person to never look physically tired, as he stayed by Thomas's side.
Not thinking anything of it, Alexandra moved to him. "I'm glad you're here." He turned to her, his eyes had turned black as he was both angry and thirsty. "You need to go and hunt, when-"
"Don't tell me something I already know." He snapped, causing her to wince. His voice was filled with the venom that he spat.
Her blue eyes lowered. "I'm sorry."
"You know, if we had stayed in Volterra..none of this would have happened." Aro stated simply, gaining wide eyes from his mate.
"What are you saying?" She asked, almost afraid.
Aro's eyes narrowed. "You are my mate, how can you be so ignorant." He growled, ignoring the fact that his brothers had walked back in. "You wanted to come here! Therefore this is your fault!"
"Brother!" Both Marcus and Caius had shouted but the damage had been done. Their mate got up and ran out the room, sobbing on her way.
End of flash back.
Carlisle looked at Alexandra for a moment. "None of this was your fault." He told her before looking at the male. "Yes Aro you could have done more in Volterra. That doesn't mean you could have changed the outcome."
Dark red eyes lightened as he took that information in, as he turned and looked at his mate slowly. It was as if he just remembered what he had said to her. Taking her in, he didn't need to touch her to know how much he had hurt her. Breaking a promise he had made so long ago. "I-" admitting he was wrong, was not something Aro was good at.
Alexandra looked up at him, her wet hair sticking to her face. A frown on her face, as he removed his blazer to place around her small form. He touched her cheek, which made them both wince.
His red eyes went wide, before he pulled her to his form. "I am so sorry." The rain fell down his own face, before he kissed her head. "I love you."
"I love you too, but you scared me." She told him.
"I know."
Carlisle watched. "You both go out for an hour, doctors orders."
Alexandra looked at the doctor, before she smiled. "Yes, doc."
Aro wasn't as enthusiastic, but he nodded. "Come my love, you must be hungry."
"So, are you." She pointed out, gaining a chuckle. Carlisle handed the canister over.
"You can hunt later." The blonde stated, before he went back inside.
Aro looked to the sky, before he looked back down to his mate. "Shall we, my love." Noting her hesitance on leaving their son, he understood as he felt the same way. "One hour, and we will return."
Alexandra nodded her head. "Alright."
Kissing her head softly, he nodded. "I love you."
"I love you too." She replied as they walked hand in hand to the diner, the rain hitting them softly; neither really cared.
0.o.0
"Welcome back." Caius greeted, when the two returned; both soaked. "Mia cara, you must be freezing."
"I'm alright." Alexandra replied, but he would hear none of it. Pulling her to his frame, though pointless in her body returning to temperature. It warmed her heart, as he wrapped his cloak tightly around the two of them.
Marcus smiled at the two, noting that Aro repaired his bond. Not that it was shattered, just wounded. "You learned your lesson, brother?"
Red eyes narrowed at the elder vampire, before something caught his eye. Thomas's eyes squinted just barely. "Thomas?" He whispered, moving to the boys side once more. Gaining the attention of his brothers and mate.
Alexandra was by her son's side instantly, along with her mates. "Thomas." She greeted, when the boy's eyes opened softly. "Hello, sweetheart."
"Ma-ma." The boy cried, obviously scared due to the brightness of the room. No doubt confused as to what was going on.
"I'm right here." She whispered.
Aro moved, kissing his head. "Thomas, my boy."
"Babbas." Thomas greeted, his arms going up to be picked up.
Shaking his head softly, Caius spoke. "No sweetie. You have to stay put, until the doctor says otherwise."
Thomas started crying almost instantly, clearly wanting the safety and love of his parents arms. "Da-da."
Alexandra sighed softly, before kissing his head again. "We are still right here." The sound of his frighten cries, breaking their hearts a little bit more. "Caius, get Carlisle."
"Got it." The blonde replied.
Marcus took his time to hand his right index finger so his son could hold it. "Baby boy, we are here." Thomas's small hands gripped the finger as tightly as he could, during this time Carlisle walked in.
"I see the little Prince has awakened." The head of the Olympic Coven said with a pleasant grin.
Alexandra looked up, right as Caius joined her side. Her head falling on to his shoulder, as Carlisle squeezed between Aro and Marcus. "Thank you."
Carlisle smiled, but said nothing. "Alright Thomas, are you in any pain?" The child looked confused.
"Any ouchies?" Aro whispered, instantly Thomas shook his head. "What about sleepy?" Instant nod.
"That's normal." Carlisle whispered, before helping him sit up. "Look at the light." He told the small child, while holding up a small flashlight. "Everything seems to be alright, we can get him unhooked to these brain monitors. However, I would like to get a cat-scan. Just to make sure there is no bleeding."
"I understand." Alexandra whispered.
"If everything checks out, you can take him out of here tomorrow." Carlisle explained.
"Thank you, Carlisle." Alexandra whispered, watching as he began removing some of the equipment. He nodded to her, which was all she needed to pick her son up and hold him in her lap.
"Aro looks jealous." Carlisle chuckled at the pout.
"Mommy's first." Alexandra stated.
"Why?" Aro asked.
"You push a child out of your body, and then we will talk." Laughter filled the room, as the family began to relax.
Aro arguments, and Aro teasing what more did you want?
