Bakugo Expelled

Chapter fifteen: A rebirth of sorts

Katsuki Bakugo was doing a bit of typing on a computer, writing up a document that he knew that he would be needing in the times to come. That document, of course, was a resume that he was going to need so that he could apply to various places for work; due to a mix of the influence of the pro hero Midnight and the fact that Vulcan High, the hero academy that Bakugo had been attending after he was expelled from U.A., had recently been shut down by the Commission, the ashy-haired boy's aspirations of one day becoming a pro hero were effectively killed. He doubt that he could get into a regular public high school at this point.

Going right into Japan's work force was honestly the best option that Bakugo could see for himself at this point.

Luckily for Bakugo, he was able to secure himself a bit of a leg up when it came time for him to apply to places to try to get a job; a few days before the trial that ended in Vulcan's doors being closed forever, Bakugo was approached by Aizawa, his former homeroom teacher at U.A., and Loukar Raioh, the chief of the advisory panel in the Commission. By that point, it was certain that Vulcan was going down; the men just wanted a few bits of testimony, kept anonymous for Bakugo's sake, out of him concerning how things at Vulcan were done. As a student of Vulcan, the explosive teen was able to provide a first-hand account of the practices of the school.

In return for what he provided, Bakugo asked that the men vouch for him when he tries to apply for work, since getting into any high school at all by this point was pretty much a pipe dream. Bakugo had also asked that they recommend Akuma Giratina and Sakaki Yamamaya, the only two students from Vulcan who Bakugo was honestly friends with, to other hero academies; his own aspirations of becoming a pro hero may have been soured, but Bakugo would be damned if friends of his that still had a chance to make it failed to do so through no fault of their own. He felt that he owed it to Akuma and Sakaki.

Bakugo only had so many friends left.

Bakugo, once he had finished the last-minute touches to the resume he had whipped up, printed off a few paper copies as some of the places for employment he had already scouted out were local places that didn't really do too much electronic stuff in the hiring process. After he got all of the copies of his resume printed up, he collected them and stored them safely in a desk drawer for storage. After he closed the drawer, Bakugo perked up a bit when he heard a knocking on the doorframe for the room that he was in. Turning to look at the doorway, Bakugo saw that his dad Masaru was checking up on him.

"Hey Katsuki," the brown-haired man began, a smile on his face that, although subdued a bit, still carried a hint of knowing excitement, "Some guests are here to see you with good news."

"Alright, dad," Bakugo replied as he got up from the computer desk. He figured that it was most likely Aizawa, dropping on by as a courtesy to let him know that either one, he and Loukar had recommended him to some places looking to hire, two, they kept their word and got Akuma and Sakaki into U.A. itself, or three, a mix of both. The ashy-haired boy followed his father out of the den, then walked out to the living room. Sure enough, Bakugo saw Aizawa, accompanied by Hizashi and surprisingly enough Toshinori, waiting for him.

A bit confused by the appearance of the other two men, Bakugo nonetheless decided to play along. He walked into the living room, sat down in an armchair. Nodding to each man as he greeted them, Bakguo said, "Aizawa. Present Mic. All Might."

"Your father told us that you've been working on a resume before we came in," Aizawa began, "Already working on trying to secure an honest means of life for yourself now that Vulcan is no more, huh? A very rational thing to go about doing, all things considered."

"I can assume that you guys came here to see me for some reason other than just to socialize," Bakugo remarked, a hint of suspicion in his tone.

Toshinori nodded once in the affirmative. "During a staff meeting over at U.A. yesterday, as the staff were discussing changes that had to be made in light of the monster siege, Aizawa brought up the two students from Vulcan, Giratina and Yamamaya, who you asked him and Loukar to recommend to new hero academies," the former number one hero said, "There are other students who U.A. is looking at, a few of which were personally scouted by U.A.'s staff."

"However, Nezu reviewed the profiles that I was able to get on both Giratina and Yamamaya," Aizawa remarked, "The both of them were met with much approval from Nezu. Your two friends from Vulcan, along with a selection consisting of over fifty other students for all of the various courses over at U.A., have all been approved for enrollment into U.A. The U.A. staff is currently in the process of visiting the approved students to inform them and, if any of them want to, start up the process of getting them in."

Bakugo leaned back in his seat, turned his head to look up at the ceiling in the living room as he let out a relieved sigh. "…So Akuma and Cat Girl both made it. Good." Turning his head back down so he could look at the men visiting him, Bakugo asked, "I'm guessing you're also here to work out how to recommend me to places I'm going to apply to for work?"

This time, Hizashi spoke up, shrugging a bit in an 'ehh' kind of fashion. "Well, we can do that, since it's part of what Aizawa and Loukar worked out when they got the testimony from you to help with the case against Vulcan." The cockatiel-haired pro hero leaned forward a bit, resting his elbows on his knees as he addressed Bakugo. "However, we also have an alternative offer for you, if you want to hear it out, of course." Bakugo's interest was piqued by what Hizashi said in regards to an 'alternative offer'.

"…I'm listening."

A few days later over at U.A., the fifteen students of class 1-A were waiting around in the main area on the ground floor of their dorm building. "So yeah, like I've been saying," Yaoyorozu said as she addressed the rest of her class, "I have just confirmed that various classes here at U.A. will have an increase to class size. A few general education courses and the support course that Hatsume is in will see a few new students added in, but it's the hero course classes that will get the biggest boost overall."

"Yeah, I got it from Reiko that class 1-B will be getting five new students," Todoroki remarked, "That'll bring her class up to a count of twenty-five students." Gesturing to Yaoyorozu, the dual-natured quirk boy asked, "Do you know how many students our class will get, if we get any?" A gentle shake in the negative came from the ponytailed girl, showing that she had no clue.

"Umm, Aizawa-sensei told me that our class will also be at twenty-five students," Izuku said as he raised a hand, getting his classmates to all turn to look at him. The green-haired boy felt a bit nervous with so many eyes on him. "…Umm, yeah. We'll also be at twenty-five, but Aizawa-sensei told me that we're going to get ten students as opposed to five like what 1-B is getting." A few faces became a bit downcast as the members of class 1-A reflected on the grim reason why their homeroom teacher said that they were getting ten new classmates rather than five.

Gently shaking her head to get herself back on track, Yaoyorozu said to the rest of her class, "I guess that's part of why Aizawa-sensei told all of us to wait here. I assume that he's going to send our ten new classmates here so that we can meet them all at once and help them settle in here at the dorms."

"It would be a bit chaotic if they were introduced to us in the classroom," Shinso remarked, "Having our new classmates introduced to us here, where there is a lot more space, was probably the most rational idea that Aizawa-sensei could come up with to intro-"

*BOOOOOOM*

The fifteen students of 1-A were cut off when a mass explosion went off in the main area off to the side, making them all turn to see a huge smoke cloud generated by the explosion blow up before it dissipated. As the smoke cloud began to clear up, the silhouettes of ten figures that were concealed by the smoke cloud began to show up, revealing to class 1-A who all that they would be having classes with.

They first recognized Akuma Giratina and Sakaki Yamamaya, who stood off to the side. The appearance of students from the now-defunct Vulcan High caught a few of them by surprise, but Shinso was pleasantly surprised to see the fat cat girl, who he is in a relationship with. After that was a girl with a quirk that mutated her neck and head to resemble that of a snake, although the snake girl had a bush of reddish hair on her head. Tsuyu was surprised to see this girl, who she had recognized as her middle school friend Habuko Mongoose.

The next was a girl with green hair, and she was wearing a pair of noise-canceling headphones, pressing the earpads as close to her head as she could, given that she was clearly distressed by the noise made by the explosion. Class 1-A was further surprised to see Mei Hatsume show up as the smoke was clearing, and they all assumed that the explosion was her doing, given that she had a bit of a tendency to have her 'babies' as she called them blow up.

After that, the other five new students were all boys; the first new boy had two pastel azure blue jutting sections going up from his head before ending in a slight curve back, sort of resembling sections on a humanoid bug, and he had somewhat stark white skin aside from yellow sections covering his chin, jawline and both ears, sort of resembling a kind of face-framing mask. His biceps, elbows and forearms were covered in an exoskeleton-like material in the same color as the jutting sections that were coming out from his head.

The second boy had a clever and cunning look to him, and he had somewhat large but notably slender, pointed and furry foxlike ears as opposed to regular human ears, and he had a total of nine bushy foxlike tails, as opposed to having a single tail such as what Sakaki has. This new boy also had a foxlike nose as opposed to a regular human nose, but other than all of that he looked fully human. It was clear he had a mutation quirk that gave him foxlike features, but why he had nine tails as opposed to one struck many as odd.

The third new boy was notably tall; he had to be a minimum of six feet. He was fair-skinned, had long and wild dark brown hair, long pointed ears that were reminiscent of a primate, a single long primate-like tail, and when he opened his mouth two sturdy-looking fangs could be seen; these fangs were clearly primate like in nature. This third boy also had a lean yet fairly muscular body, which many would say was idea for being an athlete or a fighter. Some of the 1-A boys felt that he would be a good opponent to face; he looked like he would be a serious martial artist.

The fourth new boy was the most normal looking of the lot so far; he had fair skin, scruffy chin-length black hair, and a single scar running over his right eye. Izuku could not help but wonder what kind of quirk the fourth new boy had, but all wonder fled the green-eyed boy when he, as well as the rest of 1-A, saw who the last of their new classmates would be, although to refer to the fifth and final boy as a 'new classmate' may not be entirely accurate, depending on how one wants to view the matter. The fifteen students of 1-A also knew then that Mei was not the one who had caused the explosion that had sounded off.

"I'M BACK, BITCHES!" Katsuki Bakugo proclaimed as he greeted his old classmates.

The rest of the day was spent helping the ten new members of class 1-A get used to living at the dorms. For Bakugo, however, he quickly regained what he had forgotten as he once again walked through the whole of the 1-A dorm. Naturally, he had also gotten his old dorm room back, although some boxes had to be moved out first as it was being used as something of a store room after Bakugo had been previously kicked out. Many of the original 1-A students did not quite know what to make of their formerly expelled classmate, and at least one boy was fearful of what Bakugo might do to him in the immediate future.

"Huh, so this is where you were staying before Principal Hojo scooped you up after you were kicked out of here," Akuma remarked to Bakugo as the two of them plus the other eight new additions to 1-A walked around the dorm building. There was a hint of honest amazement in the satanic hero-in-training's tone, as well as notable jealousy; the accommodations of the class 1-A dorm building were like a high-end apartment building that only high-income people would be able to afford. Far outside of most peoples' lives, that's for sure.

The explosive teen nodded once in agreement. "Yeah, it feels good to be back here."

Akuma gave Bakugo a wry look of knowing amusement. "That's a claim that, out of all of us here, only you can make." Once again, Bakugo gave an agreeing nod.

"You ought to consider yourself lucky, Bakugo," Yaoyorozu's voice spoke up from behind, making Bakugo and the other nine new members of class 1-A all turn around to face the base fifteen. The wealthy girl, with a mildly concerned look on her face, was addressing Bakugo. "I mean, you had been expelled from U.A. before. You're lucky that the school decided to take you back, so it may be in your best interest to watch yourself and make sure you live up to-"

"Holy crap, Ponytail," Bakugo moaned in exasperated complaint, throwing his head back slightly as he rolled his eyes, "Do you have to be such a buzzkill right now?"

Yaoyorozu began to sputter out of shocked offence over Bakugo interrupting her, but before she could get a word out she felt one hand each on both of her shoulder. Turning around, Yaoyorozu saw that it had been Sero and Mina who got her attention. "He's got a point, Yao," Mina said in a casual manner, "You're killing the groove that we got going right now." The pink-skinned girl put her hands on her hips as she addressed her right classmate. "Besides, I'm pretty sure that he has the same idea anyway, so there's no need for you to tread upon covered grounds."

Looking around, Yaoyorozu saw that the rest of 1-A, including the ten new additions, all had the same feeling that she was being a buzzkill. Annoyed, the wealthy girl crossed her arms over her chest and gave off a pouting expression as the group continued along.

The following day was the first day of classes after all of U.A.'s new students had been settled into the various classes that they had been put in. Naturally, this saw Bakugo in the homeroom for class 1-A for the first time since he had been previously expelled. Bakugo even got assigned to his original desk in the classroom. Standing at the front of the classroom was Aizawa, who gave an indifferent wave of his hand as he greeted his students.

"Listen up, brats," Aizawa began, "U.A. is going to be holding a school festival soon. There are two reasons why this is so important." The whole of the class all came to attention as Aizawa started to cover the reasons why the upcoming school festival was such a big deal. "One, we'll be visited by classes from Azu-Daioh High while the festival is going on. Nezu wants to try to establish friendly relations with them as the monster population among their students played a major role in helping to combat the recent monster siege."

Izuku raised a hand, which Aizawa saw and called upon. "I actually heard about that, Aizawa-sensei," the green-haired cinnamon roll said, "The monsters at Azu-Daioh High are good while the large hulking brutes were evil monsters that were also threatening them."

Nodding once in confirmation, Aizawa said, "Exactly, Midoriya." To his students as a whole, the underground hero explained, "Not every monster out there is an evil warmonger like the ones who made up the horde that laid siege to the city. There are also a good number of heroic monsters who fought alongside the heroes, both pro and in-training, that fought during the monster siege. The good monsters even suffered some losses from their number, just like the hero community, so they understand how we feel."

"I also heard that all monsters are quirkless," Yaoyorozu said as she raised a hand, "But that they all have various powers anyway due to their respective, varying monster biologies. That would prove useful if a few heroic monsters were integrated into pro hero teams, as they would lack many of the issues that pro heroes face when it comes to quirks."

Aizawa nodded in agreement. "Exactly. Imagine if a villain had a quick that can negate other quirks, leaving pro heroes without their main option of combat. The quirk-canceling quirk would be of no hindrance to monsters such as snow fairies and vampires. That is one of the ideas that Nezu is running with when it comes to trying to establish friendly relations with the monsters at Azu-Daioh High." There were also a number of other quirk-related issues that would be of no issue for monsters, such as the quirk-destroying bullets that were made a while ago.

"The second reason why the upcoming school festival here is so important is because it'll help to create a friendly environment to help the new students at U.A. who had recently been enrolled in," Aizawa went on to explain, "Not only will the festival in and of itself help the new students relax and get used to life here at U.A., but they will also get to take part in setting it up with their classmates who are welcoming them." Pointing to his own students, Aizawa said, "That being said, the fifteen of you who were here to begin with ought to let your ten new classmates have an active role in deciding what main thing this class will do for the festival."

As Aizawa stepped away from in front of the chalkboard, he pointed at Yaoyorozu and Izuku to step up. After the two of them got to the front of the class, Aizawa pulled up a chair off to the side, slipped into a sleeping bag, then sat down in the chair, telling the class that he wanted to be woken up when they had at last decided on what to do for the festival as a class. He then went right to sleep, potentially setting a new record in how quickly he clocked out.

"Okay, everyone," Yaoyorozu said to the class as a whole as she and Izuku stood in front of them, "Who here has ideas that they would like to offer up for what we can do for the festival?" Right away, a sea of hands shot up. The ponytailed girl was a bit shocked by how quickly all of the hands had shot up, so Izuku stepped up and called on the first person that he pointed to, who just so happened to be Todoroki.

Standing up after Izuku had called on him, Todoroki said, "I think that we ought to go for romantic horse-drawn carriage rides in the snow."

Everyone stopped short when they turned and looked at the half-and-half boy. "That's…a bit of a lofty idea, Todoroki," Izuku remarked.

"Actually, we might very well be able to pull it off," Yaoyorozu remarked, a look on her face that showed that she was trying to mentally piece a puzzle together, "Todoroki himself can make the snow with the ice half of his quirk, and my family not only has horses, but a carriage that the horses can pull. We can also get winter-time outfits to wear in order to better fit the theme." With an amused look on her face, Yaoyorozu clapped her hands as she said, "I think it's a-"

"Terrible idea," Bakugo interrupted, cutting Yaoyorozu off and making everyone turn to face him. Standing up from his desk, the explosive teen began, "What makes you think that the school will allow all of the necessary things for such an attraction onto school grounds? There's also the fact that a crew that is specifically needed for caring for the horses will have to be brought in, and the necessary area for the carriage rides will take up a lot of space. Also, if IcyHot makes enough snow for all of that, it'll give off some cold that might disturb other attractions."

Yaoyorozu looked like she was relenting a bit under the points Bakugo was making. "Also, and although this isn't related to the technical improbability of the romantic carriage ride idea that IcyHot suggested, but the romantic carriage ride attraction may rub some people here at U.A. the wrong way," the ashy-haired boy further explained.

A few in class looked mildly confused at Bakugo when he said some people may be rubbed the wrong way. "…What are you talking about, Bakugo?" Todoroki asked, "I would figure that you would like the idea, as taking a carriage ride could be something you could do with Pony, even more so when you consider it could be the first romantic thing you do with her since you had been re-enrolled into U.A."

Bakugo nodded a few times to Todoroki's point. "…Yeah, you got a point, IcyHot. I could go on the carriage ride with Pony. Hell, you can probably do so with Ghost Girl since you want to score points with her, and I have no doubt that Deku and Round Face will be willing to give it a go since they're an item."

"Exactly," Todoroki replied with a nod, "So I fail to see why it would-"

"It could remind some students here, as well as potentially a few who will be visiting from that Azu-Daioh High place, about what they had lost during the monster siege, jackass," Bakugo said firmly, his eyes firmly on Todoroki, "What if a boy visiting from Azu-Daioh lost his girlfriend in the siege? How do you think he would feel if he saw the carriage ride attraction you suggested? Also, remember when, during the memorial service that U.A. had for its students and staff that fell in the siege, and that crippled 2-A girl gave a eulogy for a boy in her class who was killed? I got it from Pony that the 2-A boy was that 2-A girl's boyfriend. She's already crippled, and your idea might potentially remind her that her boyfriend was killed."

The half-and-half boy took pause when the explosive teen brought up that point, looking a bit somber as he acknowledged the point Bakugo was making. "Not only that, but I got it that some girls, mostly ones in this class, had been sweet on most of the guys who were killed over in the States while you all were on that field trip," Bakugo went on, "Did you ever stop to think that seeing others enjoy what they had lost might upset them on some level?"

Todoroki was about to speak up to try to defend his point to Bakugo, but he was cut off when he heard an upset sniffling coming from the room. The others looked around and soon saw that it was Tsuyu who was crying. "…S-S-Sorry if this sounds selfish of m-me," the frog-like girl said through her tender crying, "B-But I can s-s-see what Bakugo's talking about. I would h-have liked to have done the c-carriage ride th-thing with Tokoyami. B-B-But that's not g-going to happen." No one was going to hold how Tsuyu, who was still mourning her boyfriend, felt against her. On a similar note, Hagakure was agreeing with Bakugo's point, given that she had lost Ojiro. What really surprised class 1-A was when Kyoka, her arms resting in her desk, fell face-first into her arms as she began to cry loudly.

Gesturing to Yaoyorozu and Izuku who stood at the front of the class, as well as to Todoroki to a lesser extent, Bakugo said, "We ought to try to come up with an idea that is practical, as well as being as unlikely as possible to serve as a painful reminder of the fact that a lot of people had recently died." The rest of 1-A, old and new alike, all seemed to be on board with what Bakugo was talking about. Together, the whole of the class began to come up with various ideas for what they can do for the festival.

Over in a certain shady bar in a certain shady alleyway in a certain shady area of the city, the trio of villains known as Dabi, Spinner and Toga were sitting in a booth together, a few papers on the table in the booth with them. "…Heh, look at this," Dabi said with a smirk as he smacked a newspaper he was holding with the back of his right hand, "U.A. enrolled at least fifty new brats to their various courses a few days ago as part of their plans to change how they do things in light of the monster siege."

"I also heard that Gang Orca and Edgeshot had been hired onto U.A.'s staff to temporarily fill the vacancies left by staff members who were killed," Spinner commented, drawing a confirming nod out of Dabi, who said that the same article also mentioned that fact. Dabi turned the page in his newspaper, but stopped when he saw something that had caught his attention. He laid out his newspaper onto the table, pointing to something he saw to Spinner and Toga.

The two villains leaned in closer to see what the blue flame villain was pointing to; a picture of ten hero-course students who had been enrolled into one of U.A.'s hero coursed. "Among the ten new students in U.A.'s class 1-A are three students from the now-defunct Vulcan High," Dabi said as he read that part of the article aloud, "Akuma Giratina, Sakaki Yamamaya and Katsuki Bakugo, the last of those three being a former U.A. student who was expelled from U.A. then was enrolled into Vulcan, only to be re-enrolled into U.A."

Spinner and Toga looked at the picture, specifically to the part where the ashy-haired boy was standing. "…Hey, he looks like that one boy that Shiggy had the League kidnap some time ago," Toga said in a casual, conversational tone as she pointed to the picture, before she went back to drinking her mug of soda.

"That's because he is that boy, Toga," Spinner pointed out, "He also looks a hell of a lot like that drunk woman who harassed us a little over a month ago." Giving Toga a serious, inquisitive look, the lizardman villain asked, "Remember her, Toga? That drunk woman smacked you with her purse and kicked Dabi here in the balls, and all we were doing was a getting back after the three of us just had dinner out as a group."

A curious, mildly confused look appeared on Toga's face as she thought about the notion, right before she came to a realization. "Oh! Now I remember that drunk lady!" Toga said, "Yeah, she was rather drunk. Not to mention I was kind of afraid of her since she as being so belligerent."

"I'm surprised that Toga not only knows the word 'belligerent', but that she can also use it correctly," Dabi thought dryly as he took a sip of his drink. Setting his mug back down, the blue flame villain said to his fellows, "Regardless of what happened that night, the drunk woman's dead now. We ought to focus on our next job."

Nodding in agreement, Spinner said, "Yeah, excellent point, Dabi. Those two assassins that we sprung from the transport that brought them here to Japan are going to regroup with the rest of their fellows in order to storm U.A. grounds during the school's upcoming festival. The man who funds both the assassins' group and to us wants his assassins to try to kill that Uraraka girl since apparently her parents pissed him off, so he wants to send them a message."

Toga let of a troubled, mildly worried sigh. "I still can't believe that the guy who gives us money wants one of my friends dead."

"Hey, at least none of us are being forced to kill the girl," Dabi pointed out, "All that we have to do is sneak onto U.A. grounds while the assassins do what they do, and do a little bit of recon to gather intel for the Front."

"Hey Dabi, quick question," Toga began, "Why did you tell those assassins that we sprung from the transport that extradited them here to Japan to leave some Todoroki boy alone?"

The blue flame villain paused in his drinking from his mug. Slowly, he sat the mug back down on the table. "…He's a person of interest to me, Toga," Dabi replied, "As such, I also want you and Spinner to leave him alone. I'll be seeing him personally when we sneak onto U.A. grounds for our recon."

"Just so long as you know what you're doing," Spinner remarked as he nodded to Dabi once. He returned the nod, and then the three villains resumed their drinks and planning.

END, CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Author's notes;

This chapter adapts the part of the main story that saw the sizes of classes 1-A and 1-B increased due to the advent of the monster siege. It also shows the reason why the current arc of this story is called the 'Returning arc', as it symbolizes the events here that will go over Bakugo returning to U.A. as a student. Yes, that was a plan that I had for this story for quite some time. Anyway, the next chapter will cover U.A. having its school festival that Azu-Daioh High comes over and has some fun at.
