Chapter 15; That's Why You Have Backup
Hi lovelies!! Happy weekend!! Enjoy chapter 15 babes!! (ptsd warning)
Erin was jolted from her peaceful slumber. She looked at the bright alarm clock on her bedside table.
4:30am.
The sun coming up over the Chicago horizon. They had work in a few hours.
Erin's head quickly turned to see what had woken her from her sleep.
Jay.
He was violently trashing in his sleep.
Another nightmare.
Erin quickly hopped out of the bed, making sure to keep a safe distance. For the moment.
Jay had always told her to keep a safe distance, especially with her being pregnant. He would never intentionally hurt her, but considering he was trashing in the midst of a violent nightmare and was well.. unconscious, it was safer to stand a distance.
"Jay." Erin whispered as she hopped out of bed, walking around the bed frame, standing at the bedside table on Jay's side.
Jay's breathing got heavier as he started to mutter incoherently and tears rolled down his cheeks.
"Stop. Help them!! You gotta help them!" Jay shouted.
Erin stood there, confused.
'Must be a memory from Afghanistan.' She wondered.
"Baby, I'm here." Erin took a step closer, his thrashing hands slowing down. "And Daisy is here too. We're in Chicago. Home." Erin gently placed her smaller hand in his bigger one.
That would always calm him. She knew it would. And she was of course, right.
His trashing stopped and tears subsided. She knew he would wake up any minute, and to say she was petrified of how he would act, was an understatement.
The last nightmare he had, that she had witnessed anyway, was in the bullpen when his reaction was awful.
She was brought from her thoughts when Jay trashed upright, breathing heavily and looking straight ahead.
"Hey." Erin bent down and rubbed his fingers.
"I'm sorry." Jay coughed out. "I'm so sorry."
"It's okay." Erin smiled at him, looking at the door as she heard scratching.
Erin went to the door and opened it, Milo suddenly rushing in, jumping on Jay's lap giving him the comfort he needed.
Erin smiled at the sight before her. Getting Milo, that spur in the moment decision, was an amazing idea.
Lindsay felt her daughter kick harshly against her stomach and she knew she wasn't getting any more sleep today.
As Milo kept Jay comforted, Erin went out to the kitchen. She was going to make Jay a cup of coffee but figured tea would be better. He didn't need any more jitters.
Erin turned on the kettle and heard Jay talk to Milo. She couldn't help but think about how cute he'd be with a baby if he was this cute with a dog.
She crossed the kitchen and reached up for two adorable mugs that Antonio got for them Christmas last year that said, 'I'm with beautiful' on Jay's and 'I'm with handsome' on Erin's.
She popped in two teabags and pored in the boiling water and stirred it.
She then took the teabags out and put them in the bin and walked back into the bedroom, cups of tea in hand.
Milo was currently resting at the end of the bed, Jay sitting up straight taking soft breathes.
"You feeling okay?" Erin asked, hopping into the bed, resting her head on his shoulder, handing him a cup of the tea.
"I'm okay, thank you." He indicated toward the cup. "Sorry for waking you."
"Well your daughter played a small part in that." She giggled, rubbing her bump. "How about some tv?" Erin reached for the remote. "Doesn't look like either of us are getting much more rest."
Jay just nodded and pulled his girl closer, as Erin put on a rerun of their favorite tv show. Friends. No show could quite put anyone in better spirits.

"So I googled what Daisy's name means." Erin told Jay.
They were sat at the kitchen table, the two having made breakfast together. Erin's favorite.
Blueberry pancakes.
He loved how something as simple as blueberry pancakes could make her so happy.
They had stayed up the whole morning and just binged watched friends. Married old couple vibes.
"Shoot." Jay told her, interested in what his daughters name meant.
"Day's eye." Erin smiled innocently, taking a bite of her breakfast.
"Day's eye?" Jay furrowed his brows. "So it technically means Daisy, just a funnier way to say it?" Jay laughed.
"No! It's like eye of the day." Erin smirked.
"Huh." Jay smirked. "What about Camille, did you google that?" He asked, already knowing the answer.
"Serving at the altar."
"Religious." Jay smirked.
"Very." Erin laughed.
"So what about Halstead? Google that?" He smirked.
"Place of shelter." She smiled, she honestly loved that meaning.
Because her Halstead was her place of shelter.
"Someone did her homework."
"I did." Erin winked.
"So her actual name is, Day's eye serving at the alter place of shelter?"
"Precise." Erin burst out laughing. "But I think we'll go by Daisy Camille Halstead."
"Sounds like a plan." Jay smiled.
Erin fiddled with her food with her fork, Jay noticing that something was on the tip of her tongue.
He could read her like an open book.
"Erin, just ask."
"Do you remember much of last night?" She asked.
Jay put his fork down and sighed.
"You don't have to talk about it. It just seemed more.. more.."
"Violent?"
"Yeah.." Erin sighed. "What was the memory?"
Jay sighed. He knew this was part of his recovery. Opening up. Opening up to Erin even if it killed him.
"It's bad."
"Jay." Erin reached out to grab his hand across the table. "Remember we're in this together."
Jay nodded. She had opened up to him so much and it was time for him to do the same. No matter what he told her, he knew she would always still look at him with the same amount of love and respect she had for him.
"My um 3rd tour... we got word that there were loads of guys on the other team who were setting up some plan against us. We were ordered to.." Jay tried to speak, guilt eating him up. Him feeling strong up to continue when Erin gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Plant bombs into the place they were supposedly at.. we did and when they exploded we just heard the screams of women and children." Jay shook his head.
Erin felt a tear roll down her check.
"It was aid workers. It was a God damn aid tent, Erin!" Jay shouted and smacked the table. Erin subconsciously jumping. "Aid workers who moved half way across the world to help others."
"Jay-" Erin sighed, her heart breaking for her boyfriend.
"They made us think they were there... to-to distract us. Throw us off our game. It was full of mothers, children, aid workers... and-and we-I killed them." He struggled to get out, tears falling from his eyes.
"Me, Mouse and a few other guys from our team, we tried Erin, we really tried to go back in but the bombs caused a huge fire and our bosses were pulling us back and we-we just had to listen to them all scream for help. I completely froze."
Erin then stood up, walking towards her boyfriend.
"I was a coward." Jay sighed.
Erin sat in his lap, Jay immediately wrapping his arms around her and her bump.
"You are not a coward, Jay. You hear me? You are the strongest, most amazing man I know."
"But I'm not. I killed innocent people."
"You followed commands because you're a good man. You risked your own life every single second you were over there and you still do today, and yet you still manage to be the most amazing person I have ever met."
"They were the people I was meant to keep safe."
"Think of all the people you did keep safe. Who you're keeping safe now." Erin smiled. "Every single citizen of Chicago, every day you keep whoever your partner is safe, you kept me safe when we were on the field together and I know when I get back out to the field you'll keep me sad, you keep Daisy and I safe at home, when we're out, heck you even keep Milo safe."
Milo suddenly arching up at the mention of his name, over to the table to let his owners rub him.
"I will never let anything happen to you or Daisy."
"I know you won't. That what makes you such an amazing man. You will do anything to keep people safe. Remember that. The amount of people you saved will never come near to the amount of people you lost."
"Thank you."
"That's why you have backup." Erin kissed him, quoting their favorite line. "Now we're going to get a handful from Hank if we're late."
"I'm sure he won't mind a few minutes." He winked, lifting her towards the bedroom.
"Hey, you stay there mister." Erin laughed over Jay's shoulder when Milo began to follow them.
Milo just whined when he was told to stay, but obliged and lay down on the floor.
"Daisy better be that obedient." Erin joked as Jay shut their bedroom door.

"What in the world is she doing?" Adam whispered.
The team were all standing at the entrance of the bullpen, just coming back from a bust. They all just stared at Erin, unsure as to what she was doing.
She was hovered over her desk and her hands seemed busy. She was all alone as Mouse had taken a few days off.
"Hey, babe?" Jay greeted as they all wandered over to see what she was doing. "What ya up to?" Him smirking at her concentrated hands and face, her messy pigtail and rolled up sleeves.
Erin then looked up to him and smiled brightly. "I'm sewing!" She excitedly turned her project around.
She was working on a hand embroidery. The background felt was blue and the design was a black and white dog, very much like Milo.
"We could hang it in the baby's room." She happily suggested, making sure not to say Daisy's name in front of the team.
Jay looked at her, perplexed. "Em... of course, babe."
"Since when do you sew?" Antonio laughed as everyone took their seats.
"Camille taught me." She smiled at Hank.
"I miss badass Linds." Adam sighed.
"What!? I'm still very much a badass!"
"You use to shove your gun down criminals mouths, now you're sewing doggies." Adam mocked.
"I will be back to bullying perps in no time." Erin comfirmed, getting a questionable look from Hank. "In a legal, respectful manner, of course."
"Legal, respectful my ass." Hank replied, shaking his head.
"I have a theory!" Atwater butted. "I think aliens kidnapped Lindsay and replaced her with my grandma."
"I don't act like your grandmother."
"Erin, you baked us organic cookies." Al laughed.
"Shaped like zoo animals." Hank shrugged his shoulders.
"They were sort of nice though." Kim added.
"Erin it tasted like you used crack cocaine instead of sugar." Adam clapped.
"Or maybe some of that thread." Kevin laughed, him and Ruzek clapping hands.
"What?!" Kevin said when they all, but Adam looked at him, deathly. "They were dry. I'm a sauce man!"
"You don't eat sauce and cookies." Hailey laughed. "That's weird, Atwater. Even for you."
"You do with Lindsay's cookies." Adam muttered.
Erin just gasped sarcastically. "I don't need this kind of hatred." She began gathering up her thread and needles and put all her bits into her drawer. "And I told yous to eat them with soy milk." Erin muttered, almost incoherently.
"Once again, only person I know who drink soy milk. My grandmother and her cat, Achoo." Atwater laughed.
"Achoo?" Adam looked like a confused kid trying to do math, as he put his feet on the table and downed a bag of mm's.
"Yeah like-" Kevin was interrupted by Adam sneezing, mm's flying out of his mouth. "Like that." Kev muttered.
"Ruzek!" Everyone shouted.
"Disgusting." Erin muttereted. "And may I add, soy milk is much better for you."
"You know what would be good for me? Not Lindsay's soy milk but Kevin telling me why in the world his crazy grandmother called her cat after a bodly function." Adam scratched his head.
"Because he sneezed when she went to the pet store, bro."
"A love story right there. Some might dare say, even better than Halstead and Lindsay." Adam sarcastically gasped.
"Righto, me and Jay must love and leave ya's. Baby H has her 7th month scan." Erin smiled, walking over Adam's snotty mm's.
"Last trimester!" Hailey hyped.
"I heard the third trimester is when people don't know wether to congratulate you or buy you a gym membership." Adam inputted.
"You're actually so rude, Adam." Erin gave him a death glare.
"Hey, Lindsay I'm sorry-" Adam laughed.
"Shut up, I don't care. You're rude and I don't like you." Erin put her jacket on, ignoring Adam.
"But you love me." Adam corrected.
"I think we'll go now." Erin extended her hand to Jay's, Jay just shaking his head at Adam.
"Bye guys!" They all shouted.
"You're clueless, Adam." Al shook his head.
Adam just sarcastically acted offended. "Yo, what's the difference between a pregnant woman and a criminal?"
"What?" Everyone asked in union.
"You can negotiate with a criminal."
xxxxxxxxxx
"So everything is looking great." Dr. Manning smiled.
Jay and Erin's original doctor had recently retired, so Natalie offered to take over and be Erin's doctor for the remainder of her pregnancy.
"Dr. Jones said she was a little small last time, has she grown?" Jay asked.
"The baby is at a perfect size for 7 months. Yes, she might be on the smaller size, but as you know, every pregnancy is different, every woman is different. And considering she's a Halstead, she'll eat like a champ." Nat laughed, Jay smiling sarcastically.
"But she couldn't be healthier. She's perfect." Nat smiled.
"She looks perfect." Erin smiled, eyes dazed at the image of her baby on the sonogram.
"She is. She has your nose. And your dimples." Jay pointed out. "Wait? Does she have your lips too?" Jay laughed, now only realizing Daisy's enhanced features.
"Shut up." Erin smirked.
"Let's hope she doesn't get her attitude too." Will Halstead stood, smirking at the door.
"Thanks Will." Erin smirked sarcastically.
"Jokes." Will smiled. "Jay, can I speak to you?"
"Come on, I'll help you get ready." Natalie offered Erin, so the two women could leave the brothers alone. Erin nodding.
"What's up?" Jay asked when the two women were in the changing room.
"Dad." Will sighed, knowing this was about to get messy.
"Will." Jay warned.
"Jay, for once in your life, listen to me." Will raised his voice. "Dad had a minor health scare. His heart again."
"When you say minor, you mean?"
"I mean minor. He just needed to get his BMI down, he wasn't sticking with his diet."
Jay sighed. "Well, is he okay?"
"He's fine, as long as he follows the docs rules, he'll be good."
"Well knowing him, wouldn't bet on it."
"Jay." Will sighed. " I need help in this. I can't do this on my own."
Jay was about to reply when Erin and Natalie emerged from the bathroom, laughing.
"What you two laughing at?" Jay smirked, hearing Will sigh as he changed the topic.
"Just memories from Wisconsin. Never in a million years I would think I'd miss that place." Erin laughed.
"Seriously, we need to get down there before baby H arrives!" Nat laughed. "You guys are still coming to Molly's tonight, right?"
Erin nodded. "Severide wouldn't drop it. Apparently Molly's is the place to be of a Tuesday."
"Well, we'll see you's there." Will smiled, opening the door for them.
"See you's." Erin smiled, her and Jay leaving the room.
"They have no idea what's happening." Nat laughed.
"Suprised Ruzek didn't blap yet." Will laughed.
"Pretty sure Atwater said that they didn't dare tell him." Natalie grinned, as her and Will left the room.
"Poor Ruzey."

"Okay, no worries. Thanks Sarge." Jay pocketed his cellphone after getting off the phone with Voight. "He said don't bother coming in, he just sent everyone home, they had no cases." The pair hopping in the car. Jay was back to being shotgunner.
"Wow, home before 4pm, Voight must be in a good mood."
"What time is everyone going to Molly's at?" Jay asked.
"7, I think." Erin replied, looking at him as they pulled to a stop light.
"You up for it?"
"I'm up for bed and pancakes, but the world ain't fair, hunny."
Jay just gave a half smile.
"You okay?" Erin asked, as they pulled into the parking lot of their apartment.
Jay thought about his answer. Any other time, he would of just told her he was fine, but not anymore.
He needed to open up to her, just like he did this morning.
"My um dad, had a health scare, that's what Will wanted to talk about. Doc patched him up, he's completely fine though." Jay told her, as they walked hand in hand up to their apartment.
"His heart again?" Erin asked, aware of Jay's dad's rough medical history.
"Yep." Jay nodded. "He's fine though, Will and I just have to make sure he's following his diets, going to his appointments."
"Well however we can help. I mean I know your dad and I weren't the best of friends, but at the end of the day, it's family."
"How'd I get so luck-" Jay began but suddenly stopped when he saw Erin do a full 180 down the steps. "You okay?"
"Please don't tell me that's who I think it is at our door."
"What?" Jay asked, not having a clue what his girlfriend was talking about. He took one step up to see who was standing at their door.
His heart literally dropped from his chest.
xxxxxxxxxx
"What in the world is she doing here!" Erin panicked. "Wasn't she on death row like 12 seconds ago?"
Her mother.
Bunny Fletcher, stood at her and Jay's door.
The woman she had put on death row for the deaths of multiple people, stood at her door. Her lawyer beside her.
"Will I tell her to leave?" Jay asked.
"Erin! I know you're in there, baby!" She heard Bunny bang on her door.
"She doesn't even know about this." She indicated toward her large stomach. "Did she actually just leave prison?"
"Ms Fletcher, maybe they're not home, we could go by there workplace." The young male lawyer, Erin remembered his name as Jerry, stood with his briefcase in hand, wearing a clean suit, clean shaven and hair was parted neatly with a little too much gel.
"Oh no, I know my baby." Bunny replied. "She's in there."
"That does it." Erin stormed up the hallway, Jay hot on her heels. "You have some nerve coming here, Bunny."
"My baby!! Look Jerry, it's my baby girl!
Erin scoffed. She didn't even bother to try hide her bump from her mother, yet Bunny was still oblivious to the fact that her daughter was pregnant.
"Erin just pushed passed her and Jerry and pulled her key out and stuffed it into the lock, pushing her way into her apartment, Jay right behind her.
"Baby I missed you." Bunny just walked right into their apartment, following Jay and Erin into the living room, Jerry staying a safe distance. "Why so long?" Bunny asked, trying to reach out to touch Erin's face.
"Um, maybe because you've been in prison!?" Erin sassed.
"I meant your hair. I much preferred when it was done up nice and neat, baby. Don't your agree, Jay?" Bunny winked.
Erin just glanced from Bunny to Jay, confusion filling her face.
"Em, um.. I like it however." Jay answered, still unsure on how to act around her mother.
"You did not come here to talk about my hair, mom. So why don't you tell me why? And how the hell are you not in prison!?"
"Well-" Bunny began, her eyes suddenly glancing at the large bump her daughter wore. "You're pregnant?"
"No Bunny, I'm lactose intolerant. Yes I'm pregnant!" Erin mocked her mother's stupidity.
"Well..why..why didn't you tell me?"
"Telling a woman on death row that we're pregnant wasn't really on our bucket list." Erin bit back, looking at Jay.
"Well are you's even married!?"
"No." Jay answered for Erin.
"What!?"
"Oh my God! Don't act like you haven't lived in sin since the day of your conception." Erin shouted at her mother.
Seriously people just assuming that her and Jay were married was starting to iratate her.
"Now, you." Erin pointed at Jerry who still stood awkwardly away from the trio. "What's this?" She pointed at Bunny.
"Good afternoon, ma'am-" Jerry began.
"Cut the crap, star boy. Call me ma'am one more time I'll arrest you and use your balls as the cuffs."
Jerry coughed getting the message that you do not beat around the bush with this woman. "Your mother- Ms Fletcher was let off due to a technicality."
"A technicality?" Jay was now the one to speak. "That case was shiny clean from top to bottom. It was a death penalty trial."
"Well the labs messed up fingerprints, contaminated test tubes. They had no choice but to let it all go. Thankfully." Jerry smiled.
"Bullshit." Erin sighed, shaking her head, plopping on the chair.
"Baby, this can't be good for our little one. Should I make you some tea?"
"Our little one? What are we? The Tanners from full house?! This isn't some happy go lucky situation with you, Bunny! You need to leave. Now. You too Jelly Jerry."
"I spoke with your brother. I go to prison for a few months and come out with 3 grandkids. Lucky me."'
"You've no right to call anyone in this world your grandchild! Or child for that matter."
"That's not how a child should speak to her mother! Certainly not after what you did to me!"
"Did to you? You did that all by yourself, Bunny." Jay stood up for Erin.
"Look at that. Detective handsome is standing up for his lady."
"Yep, I am. And I will do it until the day I die, Ms Fletcher. So if you don't mind leaving, you've clearly upset Erin enough."
"You don't want her raising your baby, Jay. You need an older.. mature woman." Bunny said, seductively, slowly talking her jacket off, even receiving a warning from her lawyer.
"What's this bunny rabbit porn?" Erin laughed at her mother.
"I wouldn't want anyone else raising my child, actually." Jay stated.
"Does he even know what you use to do?" Bunny laughed. "Drugs,sex-"
"Erin!" The voice of Hank boomed against the door.
"Who called him!?" Bunny suddenly pulled her jacket back on.
"It's open, Hank." Erin smiled at Jay, knowing he must've sent Hank a text while she was arguing with Bunny.
Hank came storming in. "Enjoy your freedom now, Bunny. I'm going to do everything to make sure you're thrown back into a jail cell. And you." He pointed at a very scared looking Jerry. "I'm going to find any violation to make sure you're finished."
"Sir-" Jerry began, but was interrupted by Bunny.
"This is what you call a father? Pff." Bunny shook her head. "Throw both your parents into jail, some daughter you are, Erin."
"OUT!" Hank shouted, Jerry suddenly gathering all his things up, Bunny sighing, knowing she had lost this battle.
"Good luck with that." She indicated to her bump. "With what happened to Nadia, Teddy, that time she got pregnant at 15. Good luck because this isn't over." Bunny laughed, storming out of the room, Jerry following, respectively closing the door.
Erin was insanely grateful she had told Jay about her short lived pregnancy as a teen because there was no way in hell she would be explaining it now, instead she just sunk onto their chair and sobbed.
Her mom had a point.
3 times in her life, she was given 3 people to look after.
Her pregnancy at 15 at which she ignored until Hank found out and helped.
Teddy, who she felt like she let, be sold to and from sex rings in New York.
And lastly, the one that hurts the most. Nadia.
All this stuff was her fault in her opinion, but Nadia... Nadia was different. Her death was the first thing to ever cause her real pain and loss.
Left her loss.
Erin was Nadia at a point.
And for someone to compare her skills as a mother to her failed attempt of being a caregiver to Nadia, petrified her.
"Erin." Jay sighed, and sat beside his girl, Hank taking the seat on the other side of her.
"I hate her! I hate her! And that's why her words hurt, because I hate her!"
"Erin, don't let that woman get to you more than she already has." Hank sighed.
"She's right." Erin wiped her tears. "I don't have have the first clue on how to be a mom. Never mind a good one."
"You stop right there." Jay told her. "Bunny is clueless, and she will be put back in prison in no time. We all know it. And you know what else we all know?" Jay asked, taking her hands. "You're going to be an absolute amazing mom. Because you are nothing like your mother. You're sweet, kind, considerate, gentle, loving, caring and a beautiful badass. You're mother is not any of that. Never was, never will be. Because she isn't you, Er. Heck you were sewing projects for the baby's room today!"
Erin smiled but it quickly dropped as more tears fell from her eyes. "I'm scared. I don't want to hurt her." Erin moves to sat in Jay's lap, not caring that Hank was here. It wasn't like they were in the bullpen.
"See, she's not even here and you're still worried about her." Hank butted, moving to sit on the coffee table so he could see them.
"Well, obviously." Erin answered like it was the most obvious answer.
"Do you think your mom worried like that? Or did she worry about her next fix?" Hank asked, rhetorically. "Your mom drank, did dangerous drugs, partied while she was pregnant with you."
"And you-" Jay turned her head so it was facing his, and he gently tapped her nose. "You won't even take an aspirin for a headache because you're scared it'll get to her."
Erin nodded. "You's are right." She sniffed, wiping her tears, turning to look at Jay. "Thank you. Both of yous." She then looked at Hank.
"I'll leave you two, okay? Don't stress, kiddo. I'll figure this all out about your mother."
Erin just got up off of Jay and went over to give Hank a hug. "Thank you."
Erin was honestly so grateful to have a father figure like him who'd have her back through everything and anything.
"Bye, Halstead."
"Bye, Sir."
Erin then shut the door and walked back over go Jay's lap.
"We don't have to go to Molly's, we can stay here."
"Just hold me for a little." Erin snuggled deeper into him, the sound of the rain hitting the windows, relaxing her.
"I got you."
xxxxxxxxxx
"Shit, Jay! We fell asleepppp." Erin moaned, dragging her body off of his.
"What times it?"
"6:30, we have 30 minutes."
"Do we have to go." Jay muttered.
"No." Erin smiled, lying back on him. "But then I feel bad."
"Fine, but one drink. One water for you, maybe two."
"You're hilarious, Halstead." Erin smirked. "Now, I need to shower."
"Can I come." Jay asked, puppy dog eyes out.
"Nope."
Jay just huffed like a child. Next time.
xxxxxxxxxx
The two were ready within the 30 minutes and were now leaving their apartment to walk the short distance to Molly's, arriving only a few minutes after 7.
They were both dressed rather casually in jeans, though were wearing nicer, more dressy tops, just to really get in that, night-out mood.
When they arrived at the door of Molly's they saw their friend from 51, Kidd.
"Hey, Stella." Erin smiled and hugged her friend.
"Hey, girl! You look smoking! Happy last trimester!" She winked, Erin smiling back at her, Jay then giving her a quick hello hug. "You's coming in?"
Erin and Jay both nodded, following Stella into the family bar, shocked to see it in complete darkness, then Stella turned on the lights, the bar suddenly illuminating.
"SURPRISE!!!!!" All their family shouted.
Guys from 51, Med and of course the 21st all jumped up and shouted.
Of course their friends would throw two of the most attention hating people a baby shower.
A baby shower.
Molly's was entirely decorated in everything pink.
Pink balloons.
Pink ribbons.
Pink banners.
Pink bows.
Little pink dresses that were made into a banner.
And an adorable banner that said 'welcome to the family baby h!'
To simplify, it looked like a unicorn threw up in Molly's after one too many Starbucks pink drinks.
Erin cringed and hid her face all embarrassed, as Hailey and Kim came up and put a sash that said 'mom to be' on it, Adam and Mouse doing the same to Jay with one that said 'dad to be.'
"Let's get that party started!!" Herman shouted from over the bar, as music began to play. "We have some fun games later!!!"
"I'm going to kill you all." Erin muttered, hugging Hailey as Jay mingled with the guys.
"I'm guessing this was your two's idea?" She laughed at Kim and Hailey.
"Partially." Kim muttered.
Erin looked around the bar, surprised to even see Hank and Al talking at that bar.
She's never felt more grateful to be around such an amazing family.
xxxxxxxxxx
"Time for games!" Hailey said into a microphone, definitely getting a little tipsy on those 'picnic until she pops' mocktaiks.
"Oh dear God." Erin sighed.
They had just done presents. Their favorite definitely a baby grow from Ruzek that said, 'sorry daddy, mommies boobies are mine now.'
"Mom and dad! Make your way up to the seats." Hailey smiled, pointing at the chairs in the center of the bar that were back to back, everyone else surrounding them.
"You're dead, Upton." Jay jokingly warned.
"Threatening your daughter's fun aunt Hails? Shame on you Halstead." Hailey shook her head.
"Right, what's this wonderful game?" Erin cringed as she saw loads of the ladies coming up.
"Okay, ladies and gents this game is called mommy vs daddy." Sylvie said into the microphone.
"Basically you's both will get a Ken doll, which is daddy and a Barbie doll, which is mommy. We'll ask a question, if it applies to momma." She pointed at Erin. "You raise Barbie. If it applies to dada." She pointed to Jay. "You raise Ken. Got it?"
Erin and Jay just cringed but nodded when Otis came out and handed them both two dolls each.
"Courtesy of Herman and Cindy's beautiful daughter, Annabelle."
"Tell her we said thanks, Herman!" Jay laughed.
"Will do!" Herman joked from behind the bar.
"Let's gooo!!! Let's expose these two!" Will laughed.
"Okay, okay first question is easy." Natalie began, everyone drumrolling on the table.
"Who's going to change the most diapers?"
Erin immediately put her own up. Everyone bursting out laughing and chanting for Halstead to pick.
"Think rationally here, Halstead!" Tony laughed.
Jay then lifting Barbie. He was a sucker for bad smells anyways.
After everyone got all their giggles out, Maggie asked the next question.
"Who will be the discipliner?"
Both of them immediately raised the Barbie.
"She's been practicing on Jay for years!" Kev burst out laughing.
"Well he is my man child." Erin smirked, earning 'ooo's and aww's' from everyone.
"Okay next question!" Kim then said after everyone finished laughing.
"Who will baby H have wrapped around her finger?"
Both of them immediately raised the Ken doll, that was simple.
"3 out of 3 so far. Impressive." Kim laughed. "We gotta pick harder ones!"
"Who is most nervous about becoming a parent?" Foster asked.
Everyone 'ooooed' when neither of them shot up an answer right away like before, but to be fair, this was a hard question as they were both nervous in their own way, both having a few moments of tears about the nerves of becoming parents.
After a few seconds, at the exact same time, they raised each other's dolls, obviously thinking the other one was more nervous. Everyone just burst out laughing.
"We're both nervous." Jay defended.
"Who's most prepared?" Gabby asked.
"Neither of us." Erin muttered, but followed by lifting her own doll, Jay following.
I mean she was finding free time to make hand embroideries!
"Okay, we all know Erin is the driver in the family, while Halstead is well stupid Halstead in the baby seat." Trudy smirked. "But who will drive more careful with her in the car?"
Jay immediately raised his own doll. He drives like an old man as it it, so never mind if a baby was in the backseat. Erin liked to drive as if a tsunami was chasing her.
"Gowan Lindsay! We all know the answer." Kelly shouted.
Erin raised both dolls, but quickly took Barbie down after a little reconsideration, which resulted in loud laughs and cheers.
"Who's going to attend more toddler activity groups?" April asked, when everyone suddenly started to chant Jay's name.
Erin immediately put the Ken doll up as she cried with laughter, turning around to see Jay had put up both dolls.
"Sorry babe, wouldn't be caught dead in one of those." She laughed. It just wasn't her scene.
"That's the Lindsay we know." Adam cheered. "Our rough and tumble girl!"
"Who secretly wants her to become a cop more?" Kim asked.
Both instantly raised Erin.
"Jay will want to raise her to become a ballerina!" Mouse laughed.
"Erin wants a badass!" Al laughed.
"Who's going to be the stricter parent?" Hailey asked.
Both of the of course raised Erin.
"That's my girl!" Hank called out.
"Okay we saved the best for last." Stella began. "Right, we ain't talking about ding-dongs and yee-has, but who's fault is it that there's a baby on the way. We're talking WHO initiated sex?"
They both immediately threw up the others doll, everyone bursting out laughing.
They certainly had left the best question till last.
They both turned around and immediately went red in the face.
"It was certainly you, Halstead." Lindsay warned.
Jay thought for a moment. Maybe it was his intation that caused Daisy.
She was convinced through breakup sex.
He did come to her apartment.
He slowly took Barbie down, leaving the two Ken's up there.
"See! She's him well trained." Mouse laughed.
"You're dead Halstead." Hank made sure Jay could hear, Jay going red in the face.
Hank was going to kill him for getting his little girl pregnant.

After playing a few more harmless games, like guessing measurement and name guessing, which nobody gotten even close, it was time for the big guns.
A birth simulator.
Oh, how the men weren't ready for this.
"Ohhh Jayyyy." All the girls called out on the microphone in the most girly voice they could.
Erin and Jay turned their heads wondering what they could possibly do now.
"Jay! Come on up!" Nat called.
Jay embarrassingly did a little shuffle up to where the girls were, Erin leaning against Adam, the two 'evil twins', as people liked to called them, laughing their heads off.
"So Jay." Sylvie started.
"So Sylvie." Jay replied.
"Halstead, your girl has gone through 7 months of pregnancy, and as a mom I know that that shit is hard." Natalie laughed.
"Which we're sureeee you appreciate loads." Stella smirked.
"Of course." Jay smiled, looking towards Adam and Erin who were falling on top of each other with laughter.
"Anyways, your baby girl will be here in only three more months. Correct?" April asked.
"Yep, counting down the days."
"We're all well aware that Erin is going to go through a hell lot of pain to give you a kid, Halstead." Kim confirmed.
"Kim, what is this?" Jay nervously laughed.
"This." Gabby brought over what Jay could only describe as a contraption.
"Oh my God, they got him a birth simulator. Adam. Adam they got him a birth simulator!! Adammmm" Erin began to hit him in fits of laughter.
"This shall be fun." Adam laughed, but was interrupted by the load screams of Jay Halstead.. well giving birth.

"Well that was eventful." Jay plopped down on the chair, some of the guys just having helped them get all the gifts people got for Daisy up into the apartment.
"How's your tummy doing?" Erin laughed.
"Erin." Jay shook his head. "Natalie said that wasn't even half of it, that it was barely Braxton Hicks AND I was tipsy. Erin I don't know how you'll do this. I thought it'd be like that taser certification thing we did years ago."
"Aw, I'll manage. As long as you're there and Adam is not."
"Swear you and Ruzek find anything funny, don't you's. Everyone was grimacing in the background, and you look down the back and it looks like you and Ruzek were having seizures."
"It was funny."
"C'mere." Jay guided her into his lap. "But seriously, we have amazing family. And I'm with you through every step of this."
Erin just hummed in response. "I can't believe I didn't want this at one point."
Jay just looked at her, squeezing her tighter, indicating that if she wanted to talk, he was here, but if she didn't, he'd just hold her.
"I was so close to leaving Chicago, so close to terminating the pregnancy. But this is all I want. To be here, in Chicago with you, Daisy and everyone from tonight. All I wanna be is her mom, your girl. I mean just leaving the city makes me homesick, because everything I love, everything I need, is right here."
"You went with your gut, it's always right. And now you'll always be my girl and you'll always be Daisy's mommy, right here in Chicago."
Erin just looked up at him, tears falling from her eyes, insanely grateful to have such an amazing man by her side.
"Thank you."
"Hey, you know I'll always be in your corner."
"No, I don't mean just that. I mean for earlier on today, the whole thing with Bunny, I mean you had everything with your own dad and yet you still stepped up."
"That's why you have back up." He softly kissed her.
