Words Aren't Enough

Chapter 32

A number of weeks Later

Brooke stared at her naked body in the mirror. Once flat stomach was gone in it's place was a small round grapefuit size baby bump. It was official. She was showing 10 weeks along in her pregnancy. She gently put her hands on her bump cradling the new life that was now making their presence known.

"Hi there little one. I'm you're mommy. I've waited so long for you. I'm going to do all i can to be the mom you deserve. I love you." Brooke said.

At the sound of footsteps and the front door to her bedroom opening. Brooke quickly closed and tied her robe tightly.

"Aunt Brooke uncle Lucas said breakfast is ready." Jamie said. Looking up at her.

"Okay i will be right there i just need to check on Lydia and i'll join everyone." Brooke said.

"Uncle Lucas he already changed, fed, and dressed Lydia. She's sleeping again. So you can come join us downstairs now." Jamie said.

"Okay thank you for giving me the message. Would you like to walk downstairs together.?" Brooke asked. Extending her hand to him.

Jamie shook his head in agreement. "Sure." He grabbed ahold of her hand and lead the way out of the bedroom. Walking slowly at her pace.

...

With the unexpected additions of Jamie, Lydia, and the baby. We've had to make the needed adjustment which required moving for a final time. This home had all the room we needed along with a entire guest suite. Downstairs for whenever we had family or friends who wanted to spend the night.

Jamie and i made it to the kitchen. I gazed around the room and smiled at the sight of Astrid and Lucas. A baby monitor was placed on the table nearby the large containers of beverages orange and apple.

"I made waffles, bacon, and eggs. Eat and relax. I'll take care of whatever needs to be done." Lucas said.

I leaned over kissing him. He kissed her back.

"This is very sweet but i can manage. You have to head over to the office anyway." Brooke said.

"Actually i don't. I'm taking some personal time. You were right we have alot going on given how much we've sacrificed to get our careers where they are. It's important to focus on what matters the most." Lucas said.

"I'm glad you realize that. I know we are just starting to settle into this new house and we promise there will be no more moving this is home now for all of us. I was going to go do some shopping." Brooke said. Looking to Jamie.

"I know you and Lydia have everything that you used to have in you're old rooms in terms of toys and clothes. Even so would you like to come along and spend some time together.?" She asked.

"No i'm going to be in my room." Jamie said. Turning from them as he headed up the staircase.

"I'll in the mood for some shopping Brooke. My homeschool teacher doesn't come until later on in the afternoon. Which leaves me with plenty of hours to spare. That is if you wouldn't mind my company." Astrid said.

The expression on Brooke's face softened. "I would love you're company I was thinking of going to the mall what do you think.?" She asked.

"Sounds great. I need to be honest with the two of you. I know the funeral for Haley was only a few days ago but Jamie isn't coping with losing her or his father well at all. I heard all this back and forth coming from his room since yesterday. When i went into his room to ask him about what was going on. He told me that he was getting rid of his toys and books." Astrid said.

The couple looked to each other then back at her.

"Why.?" They asked in unison.

Astrid took a breath before she spoke. "He said he didn't want those things anymore. Because they made him happy and he didn't deserve to be happy." She said.

Brooke felt her heart sink. "Thank you for telling us this." She said.

"Brooke is right. This is information we needed to know. He trusted you and in return you trusted us. We are going to be getting him some help this entire situation is too much for a child to tackle alone. The two of you have fun. I'll be here." Lucas said.

"We will. I'll be in the car Brooke." Astrid said. Leaving out the kitchen back door.

"Lucas we can't let this go on any longer. Jamie needs a safe space to express his feelings with a professional. I've seen a therapist before so i'll inquire about child therapist." Brooke said.

"I love you." Lucas said.

"I love you too." Brooke said.
