It was finally the day of the prom, Sara had spent the day at home with baby Leo as she hadn't gone back to school for the last few weeks of school. Grissom on the other hand had gone back as Sara had insisted that the two of them didn't need to stay home to look after Leo, she also told him that one of their parents would always be around if she needed anything. Grissom along with their friends were in their final class of the day and were talking about their prom plans.
"Well I'm taking Morgan to prom as my date guys so I'll pick her up and bring her back to ours for the pre prom party" Greg told them.
"Cath and me will come round after she's ready" Nick said getting a punch on the arm from Catherine.
"I'm getting Annie and then we'll be round, Warrick you wanting a lift?" Jim asked.
"Yeah, that sounds good bro, can you get Tina on the way too?"
"Yeah, no problem" Jim told Warrick.
"How you feeling about you and Sar being away from Leo for most of the night?" Catherine asked Grissom.
"I'm not sure, nervous cause I know Sara hates to leave him with anyone for even 5 minutes let alone most of the night" he told them,
"She'll be fine and at the end of the night he'll be right there and she can go see him, she can keep him with her at pre's as well" Nick said.
"Let's home so, might have to drag her away" Grissom joked.
"It'll be fine, he'll be in good hands with her parents" Warrick said.
"Exactly, anyway she's been looking forward to this since she bought the dress. She looked amazing in it" Catherine stated.
"I'm sure she does! She won't show me it, keeps saying I have to wait till tonight to see it" Grissom told them while rolling his eyes.
Greg laughed "Think you're the only one who hasn't seen it Griss, she looks amazing and there's a really cute photo of her and Leo that Cath took. I'd show you but Sara said she'd kill me if I showed you a photo of her in the dress before tonight."
"She defiantly would Greggo" Jim said as they all laughed.
"Well I'll see this photo later tonight, I'm sure I can wait that long" Grissom laughed.
The last 15 minutes of class flew by and the bell eventually rang. They all made their way out of class and to their cars after saying bye to each other and saying they'd see each other later tonight. Grissom and Greg got in Grissoms car and headed back to the Sidle house. Catherine left and made her way home quickly to shower before she got her hair and make up done, while the others got in their own cars and headed home to shower.
While they were all at school Leo and Sara had spent the day with Buddy going on a walk, they then met Betty who went to the hair salon with them to get Sara's hair done for prom. Sara decided to get her hair curled and pinned up with a few strands of hair let loose framing her face. Betty then took them for some lunch and a catch up since they hadn't spent much time with Sara in a decided on a small cafe at the mall.
"So are you excited for tonight Sar?" Betty asked as they waited on their food to be served after ordering it.
"Yeah I am but I'm still very nervous" Sara told her while taking Leo out of his pram.
"Why's that?"
"Cause I've not seen most people from school since before Leo and I'm nervous, I don't look the same as before. I'm scared of what people are going to say tonight. I'm also scared of leaving Leo, I know my parents won't let anything happen to him but I just don't feel like I'm ready to leave him alone for that long" Sara said sadly.
"Sara, have you told anyone else about how you feel?"
Sara shook her head and got Leo's bottle to start feeding him.
"Sara, you have no need to be nervous about going to prom. You are a beautiful young woman who has become an amazing mother to little Leo, I know I'm not your mother but I consider you one of my own, I'm so proud of you. And anyway, if anyone says anything to you tonight I know you will be able to handle it and you have Grissom, your brother and all your friends who will be with you tonight. Do you really think they'll let anyone say anything horrible to you or about you? Finally, Leo will be fine without you Sara, I promise and if you really don't want to leave him well I don't see why you can't take him with you tonight."
Sara had been listening to all that Betty, not making eye contact with her until she said the last part.
"But Betty, I can't take him with us. The music will be too loud for him!"
"Well that's why I got him a little present, I know what it's like and how it feels to have to leave your baby for the first time. It's hard, but over time it will get easier. Anyway! Here, you open this and let me fed my baby grandson!" Betty said as she placed a bag on the table in front of Sara and held her arms out to take baby Leo.
Sara smiled and passed Leo to Betty, she then opened the bag and took out a mini tux with a small ready tie to match Sara's dress. She also pulled out some baby sound proof headphones which made her smile.
"Oh, Betty! This is too cute and the headphones! I don't know what to say!" Sara said smiling at her with tears in her eyes.
Betty laughed.
"Thank you so much Betty!" Sara said getting up to hug Betty, careful not to squash Leo.
"You're welcome, now look, here comes our food" Betty said seeing the waitress come over.
The two women ate their meals together while taking turns holding Leo, once finished they paid and left. Betty then told Sara she had booked her in to get her makeup done by a friend of hers as a gift for prom.
"Betty you shouldn't have! I could have done it by myself"
"Sara, this is a special day for a teenager, it is no problem"
Sara smiled and hugged Betty tightly.
"Thank you! I'm glad to have another mum in my life like you. I love you Betty"
"I love you too Sara, I know you have your own parents but you are part of our family no matter what happens and you'll always be a daughter to me" she told Sara hugging her back tightly.
"Now, let's get you to this appointment" Betty said.
By the time they had finished getting Sara's makeup done it was nearing half 4, Betty said she had better drop Sara and Leo off at the Sidle house so she could run home and get changed and get James and Maddy to take to the Sidle house. All the parents wanted to be at the house to take photos of their kids and see them off to prom. Sara thanked Betty as they got to the house and took Leo along with his things into the house and headed to the living room where her parents were sitting.
"Hey!" Sara shouted as she entered the room.
"Hey princess, have a nice time with Betty?" Robert asked.
Sara told them about her day with Betty and also told them about how she had been feeling about leaving Leo.
"Well that was very nice of Betty to do them things for you sweetheart and I agree with her, if you really feel like you're not ready to leave him for that long then take him with you. I'm sure Gil won't mind and neither will your brother or friends and if it comes to it you can call any of us to come pick him up at anytime. How does that sound sweetheart?" Laura asked her daughter.
"Sounds great mummy, thank you so much" Sara said hugging her mum.
"By the way sweetheart, you look beautiful!" Laura told her.
"You look so grown up princess" Robert said slightly tearing up.
Sara smiled and thanked her parents, she then asked where Grissom was.
"He's upstairs getting ready with Greg" Laura told her daughter.
"I should finish getting ready as well! Will you help me mu?"
"Sure thing, Robert you take Leo and get him ready while I help Sara. Also, go check on the boys, knowing them they'll either be playing on that stupid games console or not have their suits on smartly" Laura said laughing.
Sara agreed with her mum, she kissed Leo on his forehead as she took him out of his chair and passed him to his grandfather.
Robert made his way to Greg's room with Leo and the bag with the babies outfit and saw Greg and Grissom in their suits not looking too bad.
"Well boys, you's both scrub up well, Greg sort your tie out son, it's a bit squint. Grissom change your son into his outfit" Robert said passing Leo to his father along with the clothes.
"Outfit?" Grissom said taking his son.
"Yeah, your mum bought him an outfit and headphones so he could go to prom with yous. Sara's not ready to leave him alone yet for so long so we made a deal that she can take him with you's and if it all becomes too much for him then one of us will come and get him" Robert explained.
Grissom smiled "As long as she's happy that's all I care about. Now, let's get you changed little man so we can go and see mummy!"
Grissom changed Leo into his baby tux and smiled noticing his tie matched his own one, Robert helped Greg sort out his tie. Greg then left to go and get Morgan, Grissom finished getting Leo into his outfit and smiled.
"You both look very handsome, now shall we got see how are girl is getting on?" Robert said.
Grissom smiled and nodded, he held Leo in his arms and made his way out the way the room with Robert.
While they were getting ready in Greg's room Sara and Laura were in Sara's room getting her into her dress. Laura helped to make sure the dress had no creases in it, they then put on Sara's accessories which were some silver diamante stud earrings, along with her necklace she got from her dad for Christmas and thin diamante bracelet that matched her earrings. Sara then stepped her feet into her silver single strapped heeled sandles that Laura helped her buckle. Sara then sprayed some perfume her mum had bought her for Christmas and fixed her lipstick.
"I think I'm ready mum" Sara said once she finished with her lipstick.
"Baby girl, you look stunning!"
"Thanks mumma"
"Anytime baby girl, now, lets pack you handbag and a bag for Leo so you don't have to do it later and rush!"
Sara laughed and the two quickly packed the tow bags when they heard a knock on the bedroom door. Laura opened it and saw the 2 men and baby standing waiting.
"Well Grissom don't you look handsome and check my handsome baby grandson" Laura said taking Leo from Grissom and gushing over how cute he looked in his baby tux.
Grissom smiled and stepped into the room as Laura moved to the side and saw Sara who hand turned to face them after putting her bag on the bed. Grissom stood there looking at her and was speechless, he didn't know what to say.
Sara smiled "Well I hope this is a good thing you're not saying anything"
Grissom then smiled at her and said "Sara, I've never seen anyone look as beautiful as you do now!"
Sara blushed hearing this "Thank you, you look very handsome yourself"
Grissom's smile got even bigger, if that was possible, he then made his way towards Sara and kissed her softly as he wrapped his arms around her. Sara placed her hands on his chest and smiled at him after they broke off their kiss.
The two didn't notice Robert and Laura taking photo's of the pair, they didn't want to miss any moments of their kids big moments in life. Sara and Greg were used to the constant photos being taken and didn't seem to notice it anymore, Grissom too had become oblivious to the constant photos.
"So, can I see how adorable my son looks now?" Sara asked Grissom.
"Of course you can see how adorable OUR son looks now" he said teasing her.
Sara giggled and made her way over to Leo who was now in Roberts arms.
"Now how cute do you look baby boy" Sara said taking Leo from her dad.
Leo made a little noise as if he was agreeing with Sara which made them all laugh.
"Well princess, you certainly don't look like a little girl anymore. You look like a beautiful grown up woman, you look exactly like your mother when she was younger" Robert said kissing his daughters forehead.
"Thank you daddy, but you know I'll always be your little girl no matter what" Sara said smiling at him.
"I know princess,I know!"
"Okay you lot, lets go downstairs and get some photos before the others get here. Greg said he's on his way back here with Morgan just now" Laura said.
Robert and Laura made their way down the stairs with Sara, Grissom and Leo behind them.
"You really do look beautiful Sara, I love you so much" Grissom whispered to her.
"I love you so much Griss and thank you, for everything"
Grissom smiled and wrapped an arm around her waist, he knew this wasn't originally how he planned his prom to be like at the beginning of the school year, with a fiance and a son, but he couldn't imagine his life to be any better than what it was now.
