The air was tense as Jason stared down the three trainers that had just ascended the broken staircase leading up to the alter, his Noivern that had given Wes and Rose so much trouble during the Dragon Trial at his side. Lillie gave a small gasp and shifted herself so that she was hiding behind Wes, while Rose let out a groan. Wes only stared Jason down, as if expecting the teacher to be there awaiting him. Nayru, however, was not happy.
"Revenge will be mine you dragon, bat, thing!" Nayru growled, her hands coated in mystical fire, which prompted an eyebrow raise from Jason for a moment.
"... okay, so good to note that Gardevoirs can learn Mystical Fire", he muttered, before reaching up to the Noivern's chin, scratching gently. "And you gave them some trouble, huh, Ven? Good boy." He then reached onto his belt, pulling out a Dusk Ball, and recalling the dragon-type. "He deserves a nice rest while I deal with you five."
"Glad to have some inclusion", Maple muttered, shivering a little. "But why do I get the feeling we are about to have a VERY bad time?"
"Stand down, Nayru", Wes ordered, stepping forward. The embrace Pokemon huffed, dowsing her flames and crossing her arms at her master's command. Rose couldn't help but notice that Wes' persona had once again shifted. The usually goofy mannered boy was staring at Jason with absolute determination, his tone almost like ice. "I take it you are already aware of what's going on, despite Hapu saying you wouldn't know about the flutes?"
"Naturally", Jason said, looking to the grand altar behind them. "It didn't take long to find the text that stated what was needed to summon the Legendary Pokemon of Alola. And, of course..." He then turned to them, staring them down with a silent anger. "I knew you all would disobey me and follow me up here... with the flutes in hand, if I'm guessing correctly."
Lillie once again adjusted herself so less of her body was visible, while Rose shifted uncomfortably on the spot. Wes, however, only nodded, stepping forward. "You should know me and rules don't usually mix, teach. However, this time it's a bit different..."
"You're right, Wes... as much as it's ridiculous that I'm admitting that", Jason said, giving a smirk and a slight chuckle as he said that. "This time... it's not just a matter of grades or caring for an injured wild pokemon. This time... it's the fate of Alola, and possibly the rest of our world, and all the people in it." That was when his face furrowed into a frown. "But, this time, you all are way in over your heads. Legendary Pokemon are not to be messed with. Take it from me."
"So, you've faced a Legendary Pokemon before?" Rose asked, beaming a little as she looked at the student teacher. "That's pretty impress-"
"Try six!" Jason immediately interrupted. "Four very powerful, very angry Dragons, a Dark Flying type, and Xerneas, the only Fairy Legendary that I've ever heard of, even in texts." He brought his hand up, brushing his bangs out of his face as the students stared at him with jaws dropped. "Believe me, kids, when it comes to Legendaries, I know what I'm doing. So, this is going to be my only time I'm offering this." He then held his hand out, his expression completely devoid of any humor. "Give me the flutes, and go back to school."
For a few moments, no one moved. Rose and Lillie both looked extremely uncomfortable, debating if they really should leave everything up to Jason or not. Wes, however, only stood there, before suddenly a ghost of a chuckle escaped his lips. All eyes were instantly drawn to him, as he pulled his backpack from his shoulders. "And I guess if we don't, you'll expel us, is that right, teach?" Then, in a swift movement, he had pulled the island challenge amulet from his backpack, and tossed it to Jason, the stolen keepsake landing at the feet of the older boy. "Then I drop out."
"W-Wes!" Rose gasped in shock, looking at Wes as if he had grown a second head. "What are you doing!?"
"What I have to do", Wes muttered, pulling his pack back on. "Sure, I'm a rule breaker, and maybe this seems like another act of disobedience, but it's not! This isn't about my selfish intent to enter a challenge, or to save an injured Pokemon I found after running off on my own to get that said species... this is about the fate of the world, and dammit, I am not going to standby and watch from the sidelines when I can do something! Besides, it's not like that was mine anyway..." The air was thick with tension, all eyes still on Wes, as the boy suddenly narrowed his eyes, and threw his Lure Ball into the air, Sakura appearing from it with a yell of confidence. "So... Jason, care to try and stop me? Not as a teacher, but as a trainer?"
Jason stared at his student, his expression hard to read. His hand had dropped down at the beginning of Wes' speech, after he had thrown his amulet back to where it belonged. He then suddenly smiled, but not like the sarcastic grin Wes had seen before. This time, his smile was rather discomforting, as he knelt down and picked up the amulet, stuffing it into his pocket. "Fine. As Champion of Kalos, and acting defender of Alola... I accept your challenge, and welcome you... to your final Trial."
"F-Final Trial?" Rose muttered, looking between Jason and Wes with confusion. "W-What are you talking about, Jason?"
"The rules are simple", Jason stated, the wind picking up around him. "I am going to use only two pokemon. Two of the strongest ones I have ever caught. All you have to do, Wes, is defeat them. If you win, I'll allow you to continue forward to summon the Beast that Devours the Sun." His eyes narrowed. "However, if you lose, you will hand me the flutes, and your adventure ends here. Lillie will help me summon the Legendary, and I will make sure to protect her while I take the fight to Necrozma myself."
"Very well", Wes accepted, spreading his legs a bit apart and getting into a firm stance. "So, what type are you going to send my way? Fairy? Steel?"
That was when Jason smirked. He, too, shifted his legs apart, and reached for his belt. Wes saw the older trainer grab two odd-looking pokeballs, both purple in color, with a white M etched onto the front, just above the mechanism that kept the ball closed. Once they had been enlarged, he could see the purple Pokeballs also had some lighter-shaded orbs bulging off of them.
"You're going to be fighting Legendary Pokemon."
"That's... not a type", Wes muttered. Rose, meanwhile, was looking at the strange colored PokeBalls in confusion, but this was interrupted by a sudden gasp from Lillie.
"I-I know what those are!" she screamed. "Those are Master Balls! They can catch any Pokemon in the world without fail, and because of the dangers they can pose with that level of power, they are only given to Pokemon Professors, and select organizations such as Mother's!"
"And Lillie gets an A+ on her extra credit", Jason said, smirking. "Thanks to my travels in both Unova and Kalos, and the terrible timing certain organizations have had to become active on my adventures, I was given these to use. And I found a rather worthy target in the two Legendaries I have here." He held up one. "The Deep Black Pokemon Zekrom, the Dragon of Ideals." He held up the other. "The Destruction Pokemon Yveltal, who absorbs all life around it and weaponizes it every century. I took down Team Plasma and Team Flare, and stole these pokemon from them to prevent humans from ever abusing their power again." He tossed Zekrom's ball up, catching it in his right hand. "And my good friend, Zekrom, shall be your first opponent, Wes! Behold the power of Ideals!" And with that, he threw the Master Ball forward, unleashing the monster inside.
As soon as the light erupted from the ball, the three students felt the air around them become heavy with pressure, and the sky above them turned from a beautiful, sunlit day into a inky void of storm clouds, almost immediately. The pokemon that took space on the Altar of the Sun was gigantic, compared to any of them. A pair of black feet, saurian in shape, thudded against the ground, and a jagged, black body slowly uncurled as a low growl escaped the creature's massive lungs. The students could see the oddly shaped tail behind it, and soon realized it was shaped like an electric generator as sparks began to travel up it towards the dragon's head. A pair of sleek wings spread out behind it, and its massive arms took a defensive stance. Finally, a pair of red eyes opened, and with a mighty roar, Zekrom shook the altar, blue bolts of lightning dancing in the sky above them.
"H-holy-" Rose shouted, her cuss word being drowned out by the sudden roar that escaped the large creature.
"A LEGENDARY!?" Rotom screamed, flying out of Rose's backpack and taking several pictures. "This is incredible, one of a kind, I must document this! Too bad the data is classified on it otherwise I-"
That was when a shrill whistle caught the Rotom's sensors, and the flying dex looked over to see Jason trying to catch its attention. He gave a smirk, and held up his own Pokedex. With a click of a button, suddenly Rotom felt a surge of new information flood into his databanks.
"Oh my Arceus! This is amazing! I can see the Legendary PokeDex entries as if the restriction has been lifted! Well, a PokeDex must do what a PokeDex must do!" And with a huff of importance, Rotom brought up a picture of the fearsome dragon standing before them. "Zekrom, the Deep Black Pokemon. When the interior part of its tail spins like a motor, Zekrom can generate many bolts of lightning to blast its surroundings. Mythology tells us that if people lose the righteousness in their hearts, their kingdoms will be razed by Zekrom's lightning."
Wes gave a slight grin at that, but he also clenched his fists together as he stared down the black dragon. "I always dreamed of fighting against a legendary... just never thought it would be like this..."
"A-are you sure you can handle this, Wes?" Rose asked, her voice shaking and her confidence in the silver haired teen piratically non-existant.
"Hey, give me some credit!" he shouted back at her, turning to face the creature. "Have I ever let you down... actually, don't answer that... Sakura, Scald!"
"Bolt Strike!" Jason ordered, and despite his command coming out later than Wes', the black dragon suddenly rushed forward, the lightning from its tail spreading so fast that it looked like a blue meteor crackling with energy. Sakura didn't even get a chance to let out a cry as it was struck down, a loud crack of thunder sounding out as Zekrom hit her as hard as it could. The milotic was sent into a stone wall, and silently she fell over, limp and unable to continue.
"Sakura!" Wes called out, looking between her and the Legendary that stood before him. "H-how did..."
"This isn't a game, Wes!" Jason roared, as Zekrom jumped back to stand beside its trainer. "The fate of Alola rests here, in the hands of Legendaries! How are you going to face one that you've never even seen before when you can't fight one that I literally gave you all the info on?!"
With a slight huff of annoyance, Wes recalled Sakura into her Lure Ball, before turning back to Zekrom, glaring a little. Bolt Strike... So it's Electric Dragon, and a physical attacker... "Lillie, I need to take Faye back for a moment."
"O-ok," Lillie said, as Faye cheered and flew forward from resting on her shoulder. "Though you don't need to tell me, she is your Pokemon..."
"Faye, Reflect!" Wes called out. Before anyone could react, Faye spun around in the air and a shimmer of light appeared in the air between her and Zekrom, the move reinforcing the physical defense of Faye and any of Wes' Pokemon to come out in the next few moments.
"Clever", Jason said, smirking. "But it won't help that much. Ancient Power!" With a loud roar, four large boulders flew up around Zekrom, encased in its electric power. They then shot forward at break-neck speed, and while the Ribombee was able to dodge three of them with some panicked, tiny squeaks, the fourth one hit her head one, knocking her to the ground. Thankfully, that reflect had saved her skin, as Faye was barely able to bring herself back up into the air, panting heavily as she glared at the Legendary dragon.
"Use Moonblast!" Wes commanded. The bee fly spun in the air again, this time a bit slower, as she held her hands up and began charging a orb of pink light between her tiny hands, before throwing it forward at the dragon. The first successful attack Wes had managed to hand on the creature, and a super effective one at that, but living up to the classification as Legendary, Zekrom did not fall. Jason didn't even need to make a command, as another Ancient Power was sent flying, and Faye did not have the strength to survive, falling to the attack and landing on the ground.
As Lillie recalled Faye into the Level Ball that Wes had handed to her some time ago, however, everyone could see that the boy was not frustrated by the loss. In fact, a smirk was on his face, as he turned to Nayru. "I'm counting on you, partner."
"M-Me!?" Nayru gasped. "B-but, shouldn't you save me for last?"
"I already know what I am going to send in last", Wes stated, turning back to Zekrom. "I need you, friend... can you assist me?"
Nayru hesitated for a moment before she finally nodded, hovering into the air and dashing forward, landing on the ground and glaring up at the dragon. "Ok... let's do this!" Mystical energy began to gather around her, as Wes touched the keystone on his necklace, transforming her once again into her Mega Form, increasing her power dramatically.
"Excellent choice", Jason said as Zekrom growled at Nayru menacingly. "I know what your strategy is, and honestly, it's a good one. I don't think either of my pokemon can survive more than one hit from her. So I better make this count. Zekrom! Use Bolt Strike one more time!"
"Hyper Voice!" Wes ordered. Before Nayru could launch her attack, the blast of blue lighting knocked her into the air, however, since the reflect was up, Nayru only smirked before letting out a wail, sending pink waves into the air which slammed into the mighty dragon. The legendary was stunned, stumbling backwards as the attack took its toll, before finally falling in defeat at Nayru's feet, the shiny landing just before it's mighty head, huffing and staring Jason down.
"...I can't believe Wes just defeated a Legendary", Rose muttered, staring in shock at what had just happened.
"I can't believe it either", Lillie muttered, holding onto Faye's ball. "But... he did it... now he just needs to defeat the other one."
Jason walked over to Zekrom, and surprisingly, the mighty dragon lifted its head slowly, despite the damage it had taken, and it gurgled as he stroked its head. "Rest now, my friend. You did well, defending my ideals." He pulled out Zekrom's Master Ball, calling the monster back into its home. He then stared up at Nayru and Wes. "So... one down, one to go, huh?"
"And knowing you, you saved the stronger one for last..." Wes muttered, a bead of sweat falling from his chin.
Jason smirked, shrugging. "Not gonna lie... if I let these two duke it out, I have no idea who would win. And I'd rather not risk the destruction of any important landmarks to find out, thank you very much. Arceus knows what happened to Geosenge when Team Flare tried to kill everyone..."
"Excuse me, what?" Rose and Lillie asked, their expressions one of deadpan horror.
"I'll let Em tell you that story later", Jason said, getting back to his spot as the sky cleared up, the thunderclouds dissipating a bit now that Zekrom's presence was gone. "She tells it way better than I do. Anyway..." He held up the other Master Ball. "Now, Nayru... you may have the power of Mega Evolution on your side, but I'm going to tell you right now; that will not help you against Yveltal!" With that, he threw the ball forward, and another monster took form. This time, at first, a black ball, wrapped tight, appeared in the air, and Wes could see the grey markings trail along its front and sides. Suddenly, though, the cocoon pulsed, and began to uncurl itself. A bright red body began to unfold from the orb, a long tail unwrapping downward while two wings spread to the side, the cocoon sticking to its back as if it was its skin from the very beginning. Blue eyes stared down the Mega Gardevoir, and a black beak opened up, a low growl escaping the large horned bird.
"Alright then..." Wes gulped. "Rotom, care to do the honors?"
"Certantly, Wes!" Rotom stated, pulling up the picture of the large creature. "Yveltal, the Destruction Pokemon. When this legendary Pokemon's wings and tail feathers spread wide and glow red as its life comes to an end, it absorbs the life energy of every living thing and turns into a cocoon once more."
"Dark and Flying", Wes growled, pointing at it. "Nayru, Hyper Voice!"
"Phantom Force!" Jason immediately commanded. Unfortunately for Yveltal, it did get hit by a wave of Fairy energy, causing it to let out a loud screech, but the sky around them suddenly became dark, and the cry of pain cut out. When their eyes adjusted, all the trainers could see that it had vanished, leaving Nayru to look around in a mild panic as her target vanished.
"Wh-what the!?" Rose gasped, looking around. "Where did it go!?"
"Phantom Force", Wes growled, looking at the spot right in front of Nayru. "A ghost type move that causes the user to vanish and then strike, and because Nayru is weak to ghost moves..."
That was when a terrifying shriek sounded above them, and in a heartbeat, Yveltal flew in from the sky, the darkness fading and causing the Embrace pokemon to have to cover her eyes at the sudden light. Unable to defend herself, the Destruction pokemon struck her hard in the back, knocking her over to her master's feet as the bird let out a loud cry of victory, seemingly taking pleasure in getting a little payback for that initial strike.
Wes bent down as Nayru's body transformed back to normal, the energy of Mega Evolution leaving her as she was unable to continue the battle. The trainer picked her up, carrying her over to where Rose was and placing her gently on the ground in a sitting position. "You did great, partner. Rest up beside Rose and I will handle the rest."
"But... Master, what can you do?" Nayru asked, looking at the bat like creature in fear.
Wes narrowed his eyes, turning back to the battle and stepping back into place, pulling out a ball and throwing it into the air, sending out Inigo, who's shiny sparkles glistened for a moment before the Blaze pokemon stared down his opponent. "Win. That's what I am going to do."
And he says that after sending out a fighting type against a flying type? Rose thought bitterly. I hope you know what you are doing Wes...
"Ah, our shiny, Speed Boost friend", Jason said. "Well, then it's time to show you one of Yveltal's favorite tricks." He turned to the large bird, smirking. "Snack time, buddy! Use Oblivion Wing!"
"Inigo, Protect!" Wes ordered. Yveltal flapped his wings forward, unleashing a red beam of light from between his wings with particles of darkness jetting off of the mighty attack, but a green energy shield appeared in front of Inigo as he crossed his arms in front of his body, nullifying the attack. Inigo let out a loud screech, as his body became surrounded in the familiar, green glow of his signature speed boost, and Wes knew he only had seconds to issue his next order before Jason retaliated. "Use Thunder Punch!"
"Oblivion Wing again, Yveltal!" Jason ordered. The Blaze pokemon shot forward, managing to hit the Dark Flying type square in the chest. Unfortunately, that proved to be a bad moment to strike, because moments after eliciting a loud cry of pain, the red beam shot out again, hitting the Blaziken dead on. The shiny pokemon was sent back to his master's feet, like Nayru before him, and Wes was about to simply call back Inigo when he realized something was off. Despite the super-effective hit, Yveltal somehow looked healthier than he did when Inigo was sent out.
"Okay, I didn't paralyze it like I wanted... but the fact that it looks less damaged than before is... baffling." Wes thought for a moment before suddenly his eyes went wide. "Wait... the PokeDex entry... don't tell me..."
"Oblivion Wing is its main form of stealing life energy from other pokemon", Jason said, smirking. "Thanks for healing up my friend, by the way. After Nayru managed to get that Hyper Voice off, I was certain you were going to send out Blake so you could determine Yveltal's power against a beefier opponent. But, honestly, Inigo was the worst choice you could've sent out against him." He then pointed to an item that hung around Yveltal's neck, partially hidden by the white fur that grew from it. "Especially since I gave him a Big Root before you got here."
Wes recalled Inigo with a sigh, before looking up at Yveltal as he pulled out the Moon Ball that everyone was expecting him to pull out before hand. "Well, I was hoping I could get off the other status condition, but... this'll have to do!" He threw the ball into the air, and the shiny umbreon came out of the ball with a bark, glaring at Yveltal. "I'm counting on you!"
"Send out any of your team now! I already took out your hardest hitter!" Jason cried out, smirking. "Yveltal! Use Oblivion Wing again!"
"Blake, Toxic!" The legendary attack slammed into the moonlight pokemon, but thanks to the natural defense of Blake, the attack didn't do too much damage to the shiny, who opened his eyes and leapt into the air, sending out an orb of purple energy, which hit the destruction pokemon and sank into it, damaging the creature after the healing from Oblivion Wing was finished.
Jason's smirk fell, and his eyes narrowed in a surprising look of anger. "Okay... I see your plan here. And I'm going to shoot it down right now." He pointed at Blake, his hand shaking in fury. "Get in close and make sure you hit that Umbreon with Focus Blast!"
"Blake, Moonlight!" Wes commanded, but the command came a second too late. Yveltal was faster than Blake was, and with a cry for vengeance, the yellow orb of energy slammed into Blake, knocking out the Eeveelution before he could heal the prior damage that Oblivion Wing caused.
"It had to be Toxic, didn't it?" Jason growled, staring Wes down as he recalled his umbreon. "Well, send out Zero now. I just have to make sure Yveltal lasts longer than it does."
"Is that so?" Wes asked, suddenly smirking, recalling Blake into his Moon Ball. "Jason... earlier, you told me Legendary Pokemon are not to be messed with, but... I believe that as long as I am with my Pokemon, I can handle anything they throw at me! And, besides... I practically already have one of my own." Wes pulled out Zero's ball and tossed it forward, revealing to Jason that Zero had evolved and unlocked the RKS System, the pink aura from the Fairy Memory that Wes had equipped to Zero just in case he needed to be used in the Dragon Trial taking full effect here. Zero let out a mechanical roar, staring at Yveltal in anticipation, as Jason blinked a few times, processing what he was seeing.
"... okay, when I said that bit about getting Type: Null's helmet off of him within thirty seconds, I didn't actually mean it", he growled. "Ugh, what is it with you, you little Hoenn brat?!"
"Hey, who are you-" Wes started indignantly, getting to finally tell his former teacher what he really thought of him.
"Who are you to keep impressing me out of the blue like this?!" Jason yelled in frustration, causing the silver-haired boy to silence himself in shock. "I thought I had you all figured out, and yet here we are... time and time again... you keep proving that I don't have you pegged! You're brash and cocky, and yet I can't help but be so proud of you!"
Silence filled the air as everyone took a moment to process what Jason had just said, especially Wes. This entire time, he had Jason pegged as a strict teacher who didn't believe in him, but now he was learning that Jason knew about his hard work, and genuinely proud of the kind of trainer he was shaping up to be.
"To be fair, you weren't the one saved by him", Nayru stated. "I saw his true colors that day."
"Shut up and rest, Nayru, you beautiful snarky being", Jason said, giving a loud laugh, the first the students had ever heard. "Well, let's face it... I don't think I can win here. But I'm not giving up! Yveltal, put everything you have into one last Oblivion Wing! Show this new Legendary that we can still give him a run for his money!"
"Oh trust me, you'll need everything just to survive this!" Wes shouted back, grinning as he pointed forward. "Zero, Multi-Attack!"
As Yvektal roared and fired his beam of energy, Zero charged into it, taking the brunt of the attack head on and still charging forward, slashing at the older Legendary Pokemon with his claws, which were surrounded by Fairy Energy. Zero landed behind Yveltal, all four of his feet hitting the ground with a major thud. For a few moments, nothing happened, each trainer waiting with bated breath for the outcome of the clash, each one ready to make another order should both Pokemon be ready for more. All of a sudden, Zero stumbled, his left fore-leg having to catch his body before it fell over, and Yveltal smirked a bit, anticipating his win. But, as if a ghost from the past suddenly coming back to haunt the creature, Blake's poison did its job, taking the final amount of energy that Yveltal had within him, and causing the Kalos Legendary to fall to the ground in defeat, his energy spent and unable to battle anymore.
Jason let out a loud groan, bringing both hands to his head as he scratched at his scalp hurriedly, his hair becoming even more messed up than normal. "Argh, I frickin' knew it!" He gave a loud sigh, standing up straight and calling back Yveltal. "Well... a deal's a deal. I'll allow you to keep going. We'll summon the Legendary together."
"I-... can't believe that Wes did that", Rose muttered, looking on in awe at the scene before her, before realizing what Jason had said. "W-wait, we'll... you're coming with us!?"
Jason glared at her at that point. "I was planning on summoning Alola's legendary with or without you. I said nothing about leaving it to you brats if I lost." He reached into his bag, and pulled out five yellow candies, tossing them over to Wes. "Here. I have some Max Revives. These should get your team back to full power, and give Lillie her little companion back."
Wes smirked, catching the candies and sending out his other Pokemon, handing them one each in turn along with Faye, who Lillie had sent out. Rose blinked in shock before pouting, her cheeks puffing as she stormed over to Wes, who was holding the candy in his hand as Blake ate it, as the dark type was the most weakened. "Alright, do you and Jason have a psychic link or something? I swear, you two seem to always know what the other is thinking and I am left in the dark! Did you know he was intending to come with us!?"
"Of course", Wes replied as if she was dense to not realize that, petting the now revived Blake. "What? Did you really think he would leave us to deal with it ourselves? We are only fifteen, Rose."
"He's sixteen!" Rose shouted in frustration, but just sighed and accepted it. "Whatever... that just gives us more man power should Necrozma attack us."
"And with the information Dulce and Zossie have given me, that's all but confirmed", Jason stated, holding the Max Revives up to the Master Balls. With a glow, the candies were transported into the device, a little jingle confirming that the pokemon were fully healed. "In fact, I'm pretty sure that as soon as our Legendary friend is summoned, Necrozma will attack and try to steal its power, since it is 'The Beast that Devours the Sun'."
"Here, Wes... Rose..." Lillie muttered, handing the two trainers the Sun and the Moon Flutes. "I think you two better be the ones to play these... for some reason, I just feel like you fit the bill perfectly."
With a curt nod, Wes and Rose took both the flutes and began walking towards the shrine, heading towards one of the two square platforms on either side of the giant pillar. The two trainers hold the flutes to their lips and, despite never having played a flute before, the music that came out of the flutes sounded perfect, a glowing aura of power jetting from the platforms and up to the pillar that stood before them, the raising sun illuminating the area and letting the spectators witness the pillar glowing with a yellow energy. Suddenly, a beam of rainbow light shot from the pillar, a orb of pure power surrounding the platform that Jason and Wes and just had their battle on. As if drawn to the sudden appearance of the energy, Nebby flew from the bag that Lillie had him in, flying into the energy beam and absorbing the power into its cocoon body. An explosion of energy suddenly burst forth, blinding all four of the trainers for a few seconds until the light died down, and they could see the mighty beast that was roaring before them. A large, white lion looking Pokemon stood where Nebby once was, with four yellow spikes framing his large head, which looked like a starscape, which reminded the four witnesses of his days as a small nebula like Pokemon.
"N-Nebby?" Lillie gasped, looking at the newly evolved Legendary Pokemon in awe.
"... good luck getting him back into the bag now..." Jason muttered, his eyes wide by what he had just witnessed.
"I told you that Cosmog was a legendary", Wes muttered, with a simple "Shut up" coming from the redhead it was directed towards.
"I-I never imagined that sounding the flutes would give Nebby so much power... let alone let it evolve into the Legendary Pokemon", Lillie stated, staring at the beast before them. "Nebby, please! I need to go to where my Mother is! We want to protect Alola, but there's no need for her to try to stop Necrozma all on her own!"
Nebby roared, and stepped forward, nodding and agreeing to their request to open up an Ultra Wormhole, but just before he did the air around them became tense again, and all four trainers, as well as all the Pokemon present, halted in anticipation. Guzma suddenly appeared as if from nowhere, falling to a useless lump on the ground before them. Before they could speak, or even process what just happened, another body fell on top of him, that belonging to the Present of the Aether Foundation herself.
"M-Mother!?" Lillie gasped.
"R-run away... that thing... i-is a monster", was all the exhausted woman could expel before suddenly an Ultra Wormhole erupted out of nowhere, and a floating creature emerged from it, constructed out of what seemed to be a black crystalline material. Wes instantly saw it was a prism-like object, and a collection of multicolored shapes that resembled eyes stared down at them, processing its surroundings. Two, thin arms that had disproportionately large hands with three claws were at the sides of the beast, moving with the breathing of the creature.
"That is Necrozma", Lusamine breathed out in fear. "T-the instant it woke, it flew into a rage and repelled everything that came near it! RUN! You can't do anything!"
But the thought of running had barely time to process in their minds. Necrozma had turned it's attention to Nebby, eyeing the newly evolved Legendary with interest before suddenly flying forward. Nebby too dashed forward to strike, and the two Legendary Beasts battled in the air, their movements looking like mere orbs of light and shadow darting through the air and slamming into one another repeatedly, but the battle did not last long. The two orbs fell to the ground, and Nebby was pinned under the prism-like creature, who began to glow with a golden light. Lillie reached out in vain to help Nebby, but she could do nothing as a bright flash of light illumined the area, and when they could once against see Nebby's body stood before them, only it was now no longer his own. Necromza's prism-like hands were now on Nebby's back like wings, as his sides were also protected by the new armor like structure. His face was covered by a mask that resembled Necrozma's, his eyes only showing through blue, rectangles on the black mask, prism like rainbows above them resembling brows. Nebby's claws also had sharp, three pronged black nails on them, and as he roared he began to sink into the ground, disappearing into an Ultra Wormhole as the sky darkened, the light of Alola vanishing as Nebby did.
"Alola's Light has been stolen by Necrozma", the voice of Dulse explained, the two Ultra Recon Squad members walking up to the shrine. "It is only a matter of time before all of Alola is wrapped in the darkness."
"What are we going to do now?" Lillie asked, worry in her voice as the disappearance of her beloved friend Nebby.
"W-we need your help", Lusamine spoke up, looking at the two members of the Recon Squad as she stood up, weakened. "We need to be able to travel between worlds using the Legendary Pokemon's Power, just as you are able to."
"You dare ask for our help now!?" Dulse roared at her, glaring at the women with fury. Lusamine looked regretful under the glare of the alien man, but it was Jason that stepped forward, catching his attention.
"No... I am asking for your help, as are they", he gestured towards Wes and Rose behind him. "The three of us are going to save Nebby, and take down Necrozma... so please, lend us the power to travel between worlds... or shall I say, the second Legendary Pokemon, the beast that calls the moon."
Dulse looked stunned at first, but he recovered quickly, nodding. "I should've know that you would know about our Lunala... yes, we can lend it to your three to reach the world where Necrozma might be found."
"We call it the Ultra Warp Ride!" Zossie explained. "It's like how you in Alola ride on your Pokemon, but we use it to ride between worlds!"
"I must warn you, however." Dulse grimly stated, staring at the three trainers, as well as Nayru and Maple. "Your five... you will be a large load for our Lunala to carry. She might be only able to make one trip. Shall you fail to save your Solgaleo, the one you call Nebby... you will be stranded in that world unable to return. I would think carefully about this."
"We don't need to", Wes stated. "The three of us will not fail! We will save Nebby from Necrozma, count on it!"
Dulse paused for a moment before holding out one of the strange PokeBalls they had to Wes. "Very well then... we are all counting on you. Please, save Alola... no... please, save the entire Pokemon World!"
Wes nodded, recalling his own Pokemon save for Nayru, before throwing the Beast Ball forward and sending out the second Legendary of Alola, which reminded Wes of a large bat, the upper head resembling a bit of Solgaleo's, and Wes couldn't help but realize that this Pokemon was once a Cosmog as well, just like Nebby. The exterior of her wings, as well as the tail, and large, yellow crescents, resembling moons. The Legendary didn't look happy as Wes, Rose and Jason, as well as Nayru and Maple, boarded her back to depart into Ultra Space, but with a heavy sigh, she flapped her mighty wings and flew forwards, creating an Ultra Wormhole and flying into it, the three trainers and their two Pokemon companions into the starry void that was the dimension of the beasts.
