Summary: After Hermione goes through the worst experience a woman can during her summer holidays away from Hogwarts, she needs all the help from her friends she can get. But she's not expecting what actually happens, or who saves her from the trauma.

Only one thing can save her.

In most cases, it would be true to say that Muggle Born Hogwarts students did not have many friends outside of Hogwarts. They may have their few pre Hogwarts friends they keep in touch with during and after Hogwarts, but in most cases, most students were only able to make friends inside Hogwarts itself.

For one student however, this was not the case. Seventeen your old Hermione Granger, had made a lot of friends prior to Hogwarts, whom she was still in touch with now.

One of them was her best Muggle friend, Victoria Adams. Victoria had been her friend since Primary School. Hermione and Victoria met up every summer, doing a variety of things together. They were totally relaxed in each other's company. Whether it was watching a film, going clubbing, or eating a meal.

As well as Vicky, Hermione had made a lot of other friends. Gemma, Mark, James and Richard to name just a few.

It was a hot, close night, as Victoria, Mark, Gemma and Hermione, headed out for a trip they'd been looking forward to for a long time. They were going to try a new night club which had only just opened. A few of their other friends had been there and reported that it was great. Hermione had been really excited when Vicky had sent her a letter about it at Hogwarts. Vicky had also promised her that she and the others would not go, until Hermione was back from Hogwarts.

Vicky, Mark, Gemma and Richard, were the only ones who knew Hermione was really a witch. They were hoping that one day; she would show them some magic. They even wished they could see Hogwarts, especially Victoria.

Up until this summer, Hermione had been very outgoing, very sociable with both men and women. None of them had any idea how much that was about to take a drastic change, for much, much worse.

Now, Hermione and the others stood just outside the door of the new club that had just opened. They were all really excited, couldn't wait to get in. The cue was huge. They were they realised, going to be here for a long time.

Ten minutes later, they eventually reached the Bouncer on the door.

"Good evening, ladies and gents. Looks like it's first come first serve tonight, I think you guys are the last I can let in. Here, take these four little tickets, you get your first drink on the house with these, to celebrate this place opening."

Hermione and the others smiled, as they squeezed through the door.

The cue to reach the bar was probably just as big as the one on the door. The place was so packed, you could hardly move. They all got their first free drink; Hermione was insisting on just drinking coke. She didn't want to get smashed tonight. She wanted to remember this. Later, that was a decision she truly regretted.

An hour later, they'd all finished their first drink and headed towards the dance floor. Mark and Vicky, Hermione was sure, were very close to becoming a couple. AS for Richard and Gemma, they'd just got engaged. Hermione was thrilled for them, if not a little jealous.

Her love life was none existent. There was a man she was in love with, but she didn't have a chance in hell. She knew it, so this was just one more reason she enjoyed the times with her Muggle friends. She could flirt with guys, maybe find Mr. Right in the end, get rid of her feelings for the man she truly loved, but could never have.

"Come on, Mark, give us a dance!" Victoria squealed, as Mark swept her up into his arms. Gemma and Richard danced alongside them. Hermione stood on the edge of the dance floor, smiling wistfully. If only he could be here…

"Hey, gorgeous. What you doing here all alone? That has to change, as of right now."

Hermione looked up at the man who'd spoken and tried not to gasp. God he was good looking! He was about six feet tall, with short brown hair and hazel eyes.

"Hi," said Hermione, smiling at this cute stranger.

"Hey," he replied, holding out his hand. "My name is Andy Ellis."

"Nice to meet you, Andy. I'm Hermione Granger."

"Nice to meet you, Hermione. Nice name, by the way."

Hermione smiled and blushed.

They danced close together; Hermione noticed that Andy Ellis was actually a very good dancer indeed. He moved with such grace across the floor, that Hermione found it hard to keep up with him.

"May I buy you a drink, Hermione?" Andy asked. Hermione found herself blushing again. He'd been a real gentlemen to her thus far this evening.

"Thank you, Andy." She smiled at him.

"You're more than welcome, Hermione." He replied.

They sat down at the table Hermione and her friends had vacated a little while ago. Andy went up to the bar, after asking Hermione what she wanted.

"Just a coke thanks," she replied.

"No problem, darling," Andy smiled at her.

Hermione felt her heart speeding up. Bloody hell he was gorgeous!

A few minutes later, Andy arrived with her coke. He set it down in front of her.

"You didn't have to buy me a pint of it," she smiled at Andy.

"It was my pleasure," he answered quietly.

They talked for about an hour, Hermione just sipping on her coke. They talked about jobs, etc. Hermione did not, of course tell Andy the truth of where she went to school, but she did tell him she was still at College, a long way away. Andy told her about his job, he said he worked as a banker.

Hermione felt herself growing to like this man; she wanted to keep in touch with him after this night was over. She asked him if she could have his number. Andy smiled and told her of course she could, he would give it to her before they left. Hermione should have detected something there, but didn't.

Eventually, Andy asked her if she'd like another coke.

"Thanks, but only half a pint this time, thanks." She answered.

"Of course," Andy smiled back at her. Again, Hermione blushed. He had a gorgeous smile!

She glanced over to the dance floor to see how her friends were doing. Both couples were kissing passionately. Victoria looked up and smiled at Hermione.

"Looks like you've found yourself a man, Hermione!" She yelled across the room.

Hermione had never told her friends about the man she truly loved, what was the point? All that would mean would be that she'd have to talk about him and that would make it worse. He hated her; after all, she needed to hate him! Maybe, just maybe her and Andy could start something sometime in the future? Then, she really would have a man she could truly love.

At last, Andy re-joined her, with half a pint of coke. As he put it down, he leant in and kissed her. Hermione could not stop it, as the kiss deepened.

She felt her hands go up into Andy's hair, as he pulled her up out of her chair. Their tongues eventually locked together. Lust, that's all it is, Hermione thought. For many nights to come, that thought would resurface. Although as yet, she didn't know this.

Andy at last released her and they sat down, both breathless.

"Drink it," Hermione. "Then we can get out of here." Andy's voice was husky. Hermione picked up the coke and took a sip.

Instantly, she knew something was wrong. Dizziness overcame her and her eyes slid out of focus. What the hell? This was coke, not alcohol. She knew by the colour. Andy stood up and slowly approached her.

"Come on, my darling, it's time for us to go."

Hermione looked over her shoulder, Vicky and the others were still totally oblivious.

Hermione tried to stand, but her dizziness was overwhelming. She clung to her chair, trying to focus her eyes.

Andy gently took her into his arms, holding her up. He began to passionately kiss her and before Hermione could stop him, he'd led her out the door. She was dizzy, her vision was blurring, and her head was pounding. But why?

The next thing she knew, Andy had pushed her into his car. Hermione was too drugged to even fight back. Andy started up the engine and drove a little way into a clump of bushes, just off the road, completely secluded.

Hermione tried to concentrate; she was sure by now she'd been drugged. Andy eventually stopped and pulled her, none too gently from his car. He opened the back door and laid her on the back seat.

"You really should watch what you drink from Strangers," my darling Hermione Granger," he sneered, undoing his trousers. Hermione went white.

"You, you," she managed to choke out.

"Yes," Andy smirked. "I spiked your drink. You're gorgeous Hermione Granger and tonight, you're mine! I am going to fuck you like crazy, whether you like it or not! You can't fight, that stuff's too strong!"

With a sinking feeling of terror in her heart, Hermione knew he was right. The dizziness was overpowering and she could hardly see anything. The next thing she knew, Andy was on top of her, pulling up her skirt and relieving her of her underwear.

"Mr. Ellis," she whispered, her head was so light, she could hardly speak.

"Mr. Ellis, please, don't… I'll do anything."

Andy sneered at her. Hermione could feel him against her, in an area she did not want at all!

"The only thing I want, bitch, is you and I'm going to have you! So, shut up!"

Hermione could do absolutely nothing to defend herself. She never normally carried her wand outside Hogwarts, now; she regretted that more than ever!

Andy began to kiss her passionately, lust evident in every kiss. His breathing grew fast and heavy. Hermione felt her head hit the hard car door, as Andy forced himself into her.

A few minutes later, it was over. Andy stood up and redressed himself. Hermione struggled up, her head pounding with pain. Whatever Andy had used, was starting to where off now, but she still felt absolutely awful.

Andy lifted her up into his arms and back into the front seat. Hermione didn't like this at all; she was as weak as anything.

Andy drove her back to the clubs door, and then shoved her out onto the pavement. Hermione struggled to her feet and headed back through the doors. She looked back as she did so. Andy was strolling back into the club, as calm as anything, probably looking for another victim.

"Hermione!" Victoria squeaked, running over to her friend.

Hermione was as white as a sheet.

"Hermione!" The others all echoed, running to her side.

"Hermione, what the hell has happened to you?" Victoria asked, taking her friend close to her chest. Mark and Richard flanked her on both sides.

"Oh no, please," said Gemma in a whisper. "Please don't tell me, Andy?"

Hermione nodded.

"People, I've got to go home, now! I've just been raped."

Her friends asked no questions at all. They just helped her out of the door and towards Gemma's car. Victoria sat by her side in the back, Mark drove. Gemma was on Hermione's other side. Both women had their arms around her. Gemma pulled out her phone and phoned a police car to come to Hermione's house.

Just as they drew up, the police car drew up alongside them. The two girls helped Hermione out, while the men flanked them. Mr. and Mrs. Granger ran out on seeing the police car and their daughter's white face.

Gently, her friends led her into the house. They sat down in the living room and Hermione told her parents, friends and the police everything.

Mr. Granger was looking absolutely furious. Mrs. Granger was near tears.

A few minutes later, Hermione was gently helped into the police car to be driven to the hospital. Gemma and Victoria went with her in the police car, Mark, Richard and her parents followed behind.

"Hermione, we understand you probably won't want to talk about it again," said one of the policemen gently. "But did you say he called himself Andy Ellis?"

"Yes," Hermione squeaked. "Andy Ellis."

The two officers exchanged a dark look.

Before long, Hermione was lying in a comfortable hospital bed, as nurses gently took tests. Hermione's clothes were taken for evidence, but Mrs. Granger had quickly packed her some clothes to change into. After all the tests were done, Hermione was allowed a bath, then to change into the nice warm clothes.

Mrs. Granger hugged her tightly, trying to keep her tears away. Gemma and Victoria also didn't leave her side. The men waited outside the hospital room.

"Hermione," said one of the nurses gently. "If you don't want to go home tonight, you're more than welcome to stay here. You and all your friends and family who are with you."

"Thanks," said Hermione shakily, "but no thanks. I think I'd rather go home."

"Are you sure?" Asked the nurse gently. "It's honestly not a problem."

"It's fine, thank you," Hermione replied.

A few minutes later, the police gave Hermione a lift back to her house, while her parents and friends followed behind as before. When they'd got back and Victoria and Gemma were helping Hermione up to bed, her parents pulled the police aside.

"You exchanged a look when she said the name Andy Ellis," Mr. Granger said quietly. "Can you tell us anything?"

"He's a man we've been trying to capture for a long time. He can use his real name, because he's almost impossible to catch. I can't go into details, sorry Sir, suffice it to say, he's a very subtle and cunning criminal."

"Do you know what that bastard drugged my daughter with?" Asked Mrs. Granger shakily, dabbing her eyes.

"Yes, Madam. It's a harmless drug after it where's off, but it gives the administrator time to do damage to their victim. All you need to know is Hermione will be absolutely fine from the drug tomorrow. Please, be near her and support her, she's going to need you during this time, as she's probably in shock."

"Of course," said Mrs. Granger faintly.

"It's probably a good thing you can't tell me too much about this, Andy Ellis," said Mr. Granger in a quiet voice, but his fury was obvious to behold. "Else, I'd find him and kill him myself! Slowly and painfully!"

"Rest assured, Sir, he is known and wanted by us and find him we shall."

The policemen shook hands with Mr. and Mrs. Granger, and then left the house.

Victoria and Gemma came down a few minutes later.

"Is she ok?" Asked Mrs. Granger, as her husband gently held her close.

"Yes," said Gemma quietly. "She's asleep, but for how long we don't know."

"Would you like to stay in her room tonight, girls?" Asked Mrs. Granger.

"Would you mind?" Victoria answered quietly. "We don't really want to leave her."

In the end, Mark and Richard slept in the lounge, Mr. and Mrs. Granger in their room and Victoria and Gemma in the room next to Hermione's.

A few hours later, both girls were woken by a terrible scream. Gemma and Victoria both ran into Hermione's room, to find her up, shaking and sweating.

Without a word, both of them held her tightly, speaking gently to her, until, about an hour later, she managed to get back to sleep. Mr. and Mrs. Granger had also popped their heads round the door.

The next morning, Hermione pulled her mother aside. Mrs. Granger hugged and kissed her lovingly.

"Mum, please, I want to talk to Andria. I need some heart to heart time with her. I need to tell her everything; I need to hear what she says."

Mrs. Granger nodded understanding.

"No problem dear, that's fine. I'll call her today."

Andria Abort was a close friend of the Grangers. She was a trained counsellor, who was only too happy to allow the Grangers to talk to her for free if they needed too. So, even though today was Saturday, Mrs. Granger was sure that, if Andria was free, she'd come around to talk to Hermione, without any objections at all.

"Please, mum," said Hermione quietly, as her Mum headed for the phone.

"Please, don't tell her anything, I want to do that. I'm going to need to tell people in the future, without passing out in terror, so please, let me start to try doing it now."

Mrs. Granger nodded again.

"Do you want anyone else in the room with you and Andria?" She asked gently.

Hermione thought for a few moments, and then shook her head.

"No," she answered finally. "Sorry mum, but no thanks."

"It's fine, darling. No problem at all, but we won't be far away at all if you need us."

Mrs. Granger managed to book the appointment; Andria was coming around at four that afternoon. At three thirty, Gemma and the others, who hadn't left Hermione's side since it happened the night before, finally left.

"Hermione," said Mark quietly. "If you need us, you just call. Understand?"

Hermione nodded and hugged her friends tightly as they left.

"Thank you so much guys, that means more to me than you, know."

At four exactly, Andria Abort arrived. Her and Hermione entered the living room, as Mrs. Granger bought in tea and biscuits, then closed the door quietly behind her. Andria took one look at Hermione's face and hugged her.

"Andria, please answer me truthfully, did mum tell you anything?"

"No," said Andria gently. "Not a thing, Hermione."

Hermione nodded, relieved.

"Andria, this really isn't going to be easy for me so…"

"Hermione, you take your time, ok?"

"Thanks, Andria. I really need this heart to heart with you. To put it simply, I need a lot of your help."

Without wasting any time, Hermione instantly began to tell Andria everything. All the way from when they'd entered the club and she'd started talking to Andy, right up to that morning, when her mother had called. Andria looked shocked and furious.

"Oh Hermione, I'm so, so sorry! Thank you for allowing me to help you through this as best I can, I will do my absolute best, I promise! Anything I can do, please, just ask!"

Hermione stood up and hugged Andria tightly.

"Thank you," she murmured quietly. "Thank you, that means more than I can say."

"Hermione, one thing I will say though, is that you need to keep your friends close to you. Very close, I mean."

"Andria, I was going to ask you about that," said Hermione truthfully. "Are there erm…? Possible outcomes and consequences I need to look out for?"

Andria looked troubled.

"Yes, I'm afraid there may be," she answered quietly. First, you may notice you'll have a fear of men now, because of what happened to you."

"I already am," Hermione answered quietly. "I can hardly look Richard or Mark in the eye."

"I thought as much," Andria nodded sadly.

"Hermione, it may be hard for you to be near your mail friends for a while, however, you must stay near your friends who are women. They will be the ones you will need the most over the next, well however long it takes for you to heal a bit."

Hermione nodded.

"Also, don't be ashamed or embarrassed if you have flashbacks. They are very common with this type of thing happening to someone, so please tell someone if they happen, let people help you."

Again, Hermione nodded.

"It's stupid though, Andria!" Hermione burst out angrily. "Two of my best friends are men for God's sake! Now, I'm going to be afraid of them all because of what some sick bastard did to me, when these two guys have never so much as laid a finger on me to hurt me! Man I hate it!"

"Don't worry, Hermione. If they are truly your friends, they will stand by you for as long as it takes."

"I know, but it's horrible, I hate it! I love these two as my brothers and I don't want to be afraid of them!" Hermione stepped forward and Andria hugged her tightly.

"Hermione, it's totally normal. I mean to be afraid of men, after something like that has happened to you. Like I said, if they really are true friends, they won't leave your side."

"Andria, this is what worries me the most though, I can't lie. What if I'm…" Hermione's voice trailed off.

"Pregnant?" Andria finished gently.

"Yes," said Hermione with another load of tears forming in her eyes.

"Well, I think first thing first, you need to do a pregnancy test to see whether you are or not before you start worrying," said Andria gently.

"Andria, please, I need to ask you! What if I am?"

"Would you have an abortion?" Asked Andria gently.

"No!" Hermione gasped in horror. "It wouldn't be the Childs fault it was conceived by rape!"

"Ok then," said Andria gently. "I'm sure your parents would raise it while you finished school, then you could look after it yourself. Or, you could give it up for adoption if you chose. But as I say, shouldn't we wait and see if you are first?"

"I hope to God I'm not!" Said Hermione fervently. "I want to wait until marriage before I have children, but that's probably another thing that will never happen to me now, damn that fucking man!"

Andria looked away from Hermione, just for a second, so Hermione could not see her writing something on a piece of paper. When she looked back, Hermione had managed to get herself a little under control.

"Hermione, come on," said Andria after a while. "We'll go to the shops right now, just you and I. We'll get a pregnancy test and find out before we take any further action."

"Andria," said Hermione quietly. "It only happened last night; how will we know so quickly?"

"We'll get one of these new ones that have just come out," said Andria quietly. "They can tell you within twenty-four hours after sexual intercourse."

Hermione eventually nodded, white to the lips.

A few minutes later, they quietly climbed into Andria's car. Andria had told the Granger's that she and Hermione were going out, but didn't say where and the Granger's had no problem with that. Andria was a woman, after all.

Soon, they had reached the shops, entered the one they needed and purchased a known within twenty-four hours pregnancy test. Hermione was trying not to shake as she handed the woman the money. The cashier asked no questions, for which Hermione was very thankful.

They drove back to the Granger's in silence. Hermione clutching the bag so tightly, her knuckles turned white. She didn't want to open it and find out the truth, but she knew she had to.

Before Hermione knew where she was, she was following the instructions on the packaging and taking the dreaded test. Andria stood right next to her, waiting for the answer. Only one line appeared. Negative.

Hermione literally ran forward and threw her arms around Andria, who hugged her back tightly.

"Oh thank Merlin," Hermione breathed, relief making her whole body go weak. "Oh thank Merlin!"

"Andria," said Hermione faintly after a while, her mind still spinning with the news that she was not pregnant. "Is there anything at all I can do to stop the flashbacks?"

Andria didn't answer straight away, just hugged Hermione close to her chest.

"Just stay close to your friends when they happen, Hermione. Allow them to comfort you, yes I mean your female friends, let them care for you, don't be ashamed if you cry in front of them. As I said before, that's what true friends are for. Ok?"

"But…"

"It won't stop them straight away Hermione, but it'll go a good way towards it. Friends are very important to us during times of stress and trauma. Friends and family both. Remember that, ok?"

Hermione nodded.

"Thanks, Andria. Thanks a lot. This may sound a stupid question, but can I keep you posted on how I'm doing?"

"Hermione, I would be furious if you didn't," said Andria gently. "You're right, that is a stupid question, and you don't even need to ask!"

"Thanks, Andria."

For the first time since it happened, Hermione managed a smile. Faint, but a small smile none the less.

"Hermione, you know I will always be here for you, no matter what, don't you?"

Again, Hermione managed a faint smile.

"Yes Andria, thank you."

Andria hugged Hermione once again.

"Have I helped you at all, sweetheart?"

"Heck yeah! You've helped me put my greatest fear to rest for one! Thanks! I'm scared of the flashbacks I'm bound to have, but I can't do anything about them, can I?"

Like I say, just stay close to your female friends when it happens, let them comfort and be with you. Ok? Also, if eventually, there is say, one man you feel you can trust and don't fear, let him comfort and be with you too. I know that will take time, I'm talking about if and when it does happen."

"I know, thanks. I will."

"Good. That'll really help you. Hermione, I am only a phone call away if you need me, understand?"

"Yes, thank you so much!"

Andria smiled, then left the room to talk to the Granger's. She was glad she'd managed to make Hermione smile, because the whole truth of the situation was a lot worse than she'd implied.

"Ashley, Jane? I think you should read this."

Quietly, she passed Mr. Granger the piece of paper she'd written behind Hermione's back. Mr. Granger read it quickly, then handed it to his wife. She read it and looked horrified.

"You aren't serious, Andria?"

"I'm afraid so, unless she can find this, her flashbacks could eventually affect her heart and kill her, if they are frequent and distressing enough. That, there, is the only thing that can save her."

"Should we tell her?"

"No! I wrote that so she couldn't see! That'll just make it even harder for her! Finding that involves something she can't do right now! I did hint on it, but I think she missed it, which in a way, is good. I don't want to make her anymore frightened than she already is!"

"What do we do, Andria?" Asked Mr. Granger quietly.

Andria looked at the two people who were worried most of all about their daughters predicament. She answered simply in five words.

"Only tell those she trusts."

Mr. and Mrs. Granger wasted no time in doing as Andria had strongly advised. Within the hour, letters by owl were on their way to the Weasley's and Dumbledore. There was no need to send one to Harry, as he was already at the Burrow. The Grangers, unlike most Muggle families, did own their own owl. So they could write to Hermione at Hogwarts. This was the owl they sent off with their letters. Hermione did own one, but they didn't want her knowing what they'd done, as of yet.

As soon as Andria had quickly spoken to Hermione's parents, she'd taken her out for lunch and a chat.

"How's it going with you, Andria?" Hermione asked. She was keen to get off the subject of what had happened for the time being. "Please, be honest with me, I care about you as much as you do about me."

"I doubt that Hermione, but thank you." Andria smiled kindly at her.

"Well, Matt and I are getting married next year, I'm really excited. We're hoping to start a family."

"That's cool!" Hermione squealed, getting up to hug her friend.

"Thanks," Andria smiled shyly and showed Hermione her engagement ring. Gold, covered in diamonds.

"Wow. You landed yourself a good one there," Hermione managed to smile again.

"I know," Andria smiled back. "Believe me, I know."

Dumbledore paced his small study, looking out into the grounds. The new term was due to start a week Monday and he was ready for it. All he had left to do was send out letters and badges to his Head boy and girl, whom he hadn't yet decided on. Suddenly, there was a tapping on the window and a small owl was perched on the sill. Quickly, Dumbledore walked forward and opened the window. The owl flew in and dropped the letter at his feet.

Dear Sir Dumbledore,

I hope you will forgive our writing to you, but we really need your help.

Over the summer, our daughter, Hermione was cruelly raped by a man naming himself as Andy Ellis.

As we're sure you'll understand Hermione is in shock and struggling to cope with what has been done to her.

Our police are out looking for Mr. Ellis as we speak, because he is wanted for other offences not least our daughter's.

Mr. Dumbledore, we know she trusts you, please, please look after her during her next year at Hogwarts, she needs your support.

We almost wish we could be there with her, when she needs us.

This whole event has upset the Granger family greatly; as we're sure you can understand.

One of our friends, Andria Abort, who is also a trained counsellor, has spoken to Hermione and she wrote this, which we think you should see. However, we don't want Hermione to see it, just yet.

Hermione is and will for some time to come, suffer from flashbacks and a fear of men. Even those who have never hurt her, she will fear. There is, only one thing that can save her, but it involves her stepping past all fears, all things in her way.

Please read this slip of paper Mr. Dumbledore, our daughter's life depends on it!

Not only do we know Hermione trusts you, we trust you also.

Please, please help her and us.

Sincerest thanks,

Ashley and Jane Granger.

Dumbledore read the paper enclosed with the letter and sighed. He looked very sad and troubled. Suddenly however, a small smile crept onto his lips. He knew what he had to do.

"It's kind of a shame we haven't seen Hermione this summer though," said Ron, leaning back against his broomstick."

"Yeah," agreed Harry, following suit. "It would have been nice."

"We'll see her at Hogwarts though," said Ginny, taking a seat on the small wooden bench at the back of the Weasley's orchard. "Don't forget, she unlike most Muggle Burns, does have friends at home. Muggle friends I mean. She told me she was going to spend time with them this summer."

"Yeah and that's cool," said Ron, as he and Harry joined their sister on the bench. "It's just a shame we couldn't see her, that's all."

"Yeah, it is, but at least she'll be having a nice time with them at home and we'll see her next week on the Hogwarts Express."

"Speaking of Hogwarts," said Harry. "It's seventh year; I wonder who the Heads will be?"

"To be honest," said Ginny, leaning against Harry, who put an arm around her shoulders. "Part of me wouldn't be surprised if Hermione was Head girl."

"Me neither," said Ron, and then pretended to grimace. "Do you have to?"

Harry and Ginny smiled, and then kissed passionately right in front of Ron.

"You can't say anything," smirked Ginny. "You're just the same with Lavender and you know it!"

She was right. Ron didn't have any answer to make to that.

"Wonder if Hermione's found a man yet," Ginny wondered aloud, resting her head on Harry's shoulder. "If not, I hope she does soon, she deserves someone nice."

Harry and Ron both smiled. Harry had wondered for a brief time whether Ron and Hermione would ever get together, but Ron and Lavender had truly fallen hard for each other and in his mind, there was no one but Ginny.

Suddenly, something happened that wiped all happiness away from their faces, making them think about Hermione in a whole new way. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley came out of the house, holding an envelope. Behind them, Fred and George followed, looking furious and sick.

"Harry, Ron, Ginny, we think you should read this," said Mrs. Weasley, her voice shaking.

"What's up?" All three of them said together, seeing their families white faces and furious looks.

"Read it," said Mr. Weasley grimly.

Ginny took the paper and began to read aloud.

"To the Weasley family and Harry Potter,

I'm afraid we have some terrible news to report to you.

As you know, Hermione was staying with us this summer, to spend time with some of her non magical friends, who obviously could not attend Hogwarts.

Well, Hermione went to a club with some of her friends last night and was ruthlessly raped by a man naming himself as Andy Ellis."

Ginny had to stop. She'd gone as white as a sheet.

"Oh Hermione," she whispered, tears starting in her eyes. Ron looked livid, as did Harry.

Mrs. Weasley gently took the letter from her daughter and read on.

"As we know you'll understand, this event has had a severe effect on Hermione, who is still dealing with shock and fear.

One of our friends, Andria Abort, who is also a trained Counsellor, has had a conversation with Hermione.

We have enclosed a little slip of paper Andria wrote, that she does not want Hermione to know about as of yet.

As we are sure you can appreciate, Hermione has been and will continue very unfortunately, having flashbacks of her attack. She is also and will continue, having a fear of all men now, because of what happened. She is even afraid of those who have never laid a finger on her. Andy Ellis has seen to that.

Rest assured, the police are out on the lookout for Mr. Ellis, as he is wanted for other offences, not least our daughter's.

Please, all we would ask is please look after her and please write to us if anything happens! WE don't care how small!

To you, Ginny Weasley, Hermione speaks of you a lot. She says you're a truly loyal friend, who she likes a lot, would even say she loves.

Ginny, please be close to Hermione, she is going to need you more than any other, obviously because you are a woman. To you particularly, we would ask you to please read the paper from Andria. It involves something Hermione cannot do, as of yet and we don't want her knowing about it just yet, it will scare her even more."

Mrs. Weasley stopped, close to tears and handed Ginny the paper. Ginny read it quickly, and then nodded.

Mrs. Weasley read on.

"Thank you so much for looking after our daughter, we know she trusts you, which is why we have sent you this.

Also, Hermione doesn't know we have written to you, so please, don't mention it. She'll probably be able to figure it out, just by your actions towards her. But please, we don't want her anymore worried and frightened than she already is!

To you, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, if it's ok with you, Hermione wants to come to the Burrow tomorrow, in time for returning to Hogwarts. Please could you write back to us tonight letting us know if this is ok with you?

Thank you all so much for your help,

Ashley and Jane Granger."

As soon as she'd finished reading, Mrs. Weasley burst into tears and Mr. Weasley ran to her. Fred and George were looking murderous.

"If we ever find that Andy Ellis, he'll have a lot more than a prison sentence," snarled George.

"Too right!" Snarled Fred, who looked if possible, even angrier than his brother.

Mrs. Weasley ran into the house, to write a quick reply to the Granger's.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Granger,

Of course it's ok! We'd be delighted to have her and will do whatever we can to help her through this!

We are so, so sorry,

Molly and all the Weasley's.

She sent the letter off with the little owl which had delivered it, and then they waited for Hermione to arrive.

The Granger's little owl was hopping anxiously on Dumbledore's desk, having just returned from Dumbledore assumed, delivering a similar letter to Harry and the Weasley's.

Dumbledore pulled a small piece of parchment from his draw and wrote a quick letter.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Granger,

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to Miss. Granger and to assure you most sincerely that she will be well cared for. Our nurse, Madam Pomphrey will be there for her during flashbacks and if they get serious enough, we will send her to St. Mungo's our Magical hospital.

If it comes to the stage where we do send her there, you of course will be able to come with her.

I will willingly send someone round to connect your fire to the Flu network. This means that you will be able to walk through your fireplace, straight into my office at Hogwarts. Thus enabling you to get to Miss. Granger, any time she needs you. This will be done for free, there will be no charge.

If however you do not own a fireplace, a small one will be built for you, just for this purpose. You will also be given a large supply of Flu powder.

Do not worry, it's perfectly safe and all will be explained to you. As soon as Miss. Granger leaves for the Burrow tomorrow, they will arrive to do this for you.

I know she is going to the Burrow, as I have already heard from Molly Weasley.

Do not worry at all, Miss. Granger will be safe, I will do all in my power to protect her.

As for your little slip of paper, do not worry, I have the perfect plan, please, just trust me. I will not let you down.

With very best wishes,

Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts.

As soon as the letter was complete, he tied it to the small owl's leg. A few seconds before the owl had returned to him from the Weasley's he'd received a letter from Mrs. Weasley, saying she was horrified by what had happened, but that she too, along with her family would protect Hermione. Mrs. Weasley and Dumbledore both knew that the other had been told of the awful event.

As Dumbledore tied the letter, he saw another one on the owl's other leg. He assumed the reply from the Weasley's. As soon as the letter was secure, the owl flew out of the window, into the clear, evening air.

Compared to a normal Sunday morning in the Granger's house, this one was quiet, subdued. The mood was dark, Mr. and Mrs. Granger were trying not to talk about Andy to Hermione, but when they were alone, they let their fury and hatred out, in no uncertain terms.

Hermione was looking forward to going to the Burrow that afternoon, but she was terrified of seeing Harry and Ron. She hated the idea of fearing them, which she was sure she would.

Hermione knew absolutely nothing of the letters her parents had sent to the Weasley's, Harry and Dumbledore, because they had been sent while Hermione was at lunch with Andria, who had taken her just for that reason.

They'd received a call from the local police station that morning, checking on Hermione, to see how she was doing. Hermione admitted to the kind voiced female caller, that she hadn't slept very well that night, Andy's face would not disappear. She admitted she'd woken up, screaming again.

The woman gently assured her that the police were doing everything they could and if Hermione needed any support, just to call. Hermione thanked her and hung up.

Half an hour later, a Hogwarts owl flew in through the living room window. Hermione was due to return to the Burrow in an hour's time. Hermione looked; the letter was addressed to her. She pulled it gently off the owl's leg and slit it open as the owl flew out of the window again.

Dear Miss. Granger,

I am pleased to inform you that this year, you have been made Head girl of Hogwarts School of Witch craft and Wizardry.

You have shown us beyond any doubt, that this year, you are the Student for the job.

When you catch the Hogwarts Express on September first, please go to the Head's compartment, at the front of the train for further instructions.

Many congratulations to you,

Albus Dumbledore.

Hermione slowly turned the envelope over and the Head girl's badge fell in to her hand. The Hogwarts coat of arms, with HG written across it.

Hermione stared at the letter and badge, not quite believing her eyes. She was Head girl? But she wouldn't be able to do it! The events of the summer were just too much! No, as soon as they got back, she'd have to tell Dumbledore she was sorry, but she couldn't do it. The last thing she needed was to panic if a man got too near her.

Quietly, she showed the letter to her parents. She wasn't going to tell them of her plans; she'd just carry them out in secret. They both hugged her and told her how proud they were of her. Mrs. Granger was nearly crying.

Before Hermione knew it, she was heading off to the Burrow. She was planning to just apporate there. With her mum's help, she packed up her trunk, making sure she had everything. Along with her Head girl's letter, she'd received her book list for the coming year, so she knew a trip to Diagon Alley was necessary.

Mr. Granger insisted on giving her some money for her coming year, something Hermione didn't normally allow. Five minutes before she was due to leave, the doorbell rang. Mr. Granger opened it, revealing Victoria and Gemma.

"Aah, come in girls, I know Hermione will be pleased to see you."

She was. She hugged Vicky, then Gemma tightly.

"Mark and Rick are worried sick about you," said Gemma quietly, as they sat in the Granger's kitchen, drinking tea.

"Thank you," said Hermione quietly. "I'm sorry to say this, but I'm glad they didn't come though, I…" Her voice trailed off. However, her friends understood.

"This fucking sucks!" Hermione suddenly burst out angrily. "Mark and Rick have never so much as laid a finger on me, now I'm afraid of them! Plus, my mail friends from Hogwarts…"

She couldn't finish, because she broke down crying. Gemma and Victoria again hugged her tightly.

"Hermione, it's perfectly normal after what that sick bastard did to you, trust us! You'll get over it in time!"

Unknown to Hermione, Andria had met with Vicky and Gemma after dropping Hermione back off at her house the day before. She'd told them everything, after asking Hermione if she could, to which Hermione had agreed. She had also told them of the only thing that could save Hermione, the one thing she was still keeping from the woman in question. Now, as a result, her friends were trying to encourage her, while at the same time not saying too much.

"I didn't sleep at all last night again," said Hermione, and to her horror, she felt tears start in her eyes and couldn't hold them back. Instantly Victoria and Gemma were by her side, holding her close.

"I keep seeing his face," Hermione sobbed. "I keep seeing his fucking face! I can't do anything about it, I see him sneering at me, smirking at me, saying he's going to have me and there's nothing I can do about it!"

Hermione dissolved into tears against her friends shoulders. Suddenly Andy's face swam into view again, crystal sharp focus and Hermione screamed. She screamed louder than she'd ever screamed before. Instantly, Mrs. Granger was beside them.

Victoria and Gemma held her tighter than ever, speaking gently and tenderly into her ears, trying to calm her down. This was they knew, unfortunately going to be the first one of many flashbacks to come.

Mrs. Weasley and Ginny stared at the letter that had just come through the kitchen window, both as white as sheets.

Dear Mrs. Weasley and Ginny,

This letter is being written very quickly, as Hermione is currently having her first real flashback.

Her friends, Victoria and Gemma and Jane are with her now, trying to calm her down. Please, would it be possible as soon as you get this to do that thing, apporate is it? Where you appear instantly somewhere?

Would it be possible to do that outside our house now to come to her? She needs women so bad right now. Then, when she's calm enough, you can take her back with you, to where we know she wants to go.

Last night, we said to her don't let her know you've written to her, well I think she'll figure it out straight away. Please, ask the men around you to be nice to her, not to come too close unless she comes to them, etc.

Thank you so much,

Ashley Granger.

Two seconds later, Ginny and Mrs. Weasley had apporated outside the Grangers. They'd read the address off the top of the letter.

Mrs. Granger flung open the door, and the two women ran to Hermione's side. If Hermione was surprised to see them, she didn't show it, she couldn't due to fear.

All the women looked tenderly at Hermione, who eventually stopped screaming. She looked at Ginny.

"They wrote to you, didn't they?" She asked, her voice shaking.

"Yes, Hermione." Said Ginny gently, taking her close after Victoria and Gemma had released her. Ginny held Hermione to her side and the other women watched sadly.

"Hermione," said Mrs. Weasley, keeping her voice as steady as she could for the young woman. "Ginny and I will be here for you, along with these other women. Do you understand? Any time you need us, you let us know, ok?"

Hermione managed to give Mrs. Weasley a faint smile.

"Thank you," she said quietly.

"Hermione," said Victoria quietly. "Send me an owl, ok? Let me know how you're doing. You promise?"

"Hermione hugged her friend close.

"Yes, I promise. Do you promise to pass it on to the others?"

"Of course I do," said Victoria gently. "We love you so much, Hermione."

Mrs. Granger made a silent hand gesture to Victoria and Gemma, asking them to stay after Hermione had left. Both women nodded.

Ginny and Mrs. Weasley shook hands with Victoria, Gemma and Mrs. Granger.

"Ok Hermione," said Ginny gently, "you ready to go?"

Hermione nodded, as Mr. Granger carried the trunk to the front door.

A few seconds later, Ginny, Hermione and Mrs. Weasley had apporated off to the Burrow.

"Why did you want us to stay, Mrs. Granger?" Asked Victoria, just as there was a knock on the front door and Andria appeared.

"Has she gone?" Asked Andria.

"Yes," answered Mrs. Granger, tears forming in her eyes. Gemma stood up and hugged her.

Mr. Granger entered the kitchen.

"WE asked you to stay because today, we've got a wizard coming around to connect our house to something called the Flu Network. This means that we'll be able to walk straight through our fireplace, into the Headmaster's office, allowing us to get to Hermione whenever she needs us.

"Does Hermione know about this?" Asked Gemma.

"No, because I'm hoping we won't have to use it unless it's for a good reason, but I somehow doubt it," said Mr. Granger grimly. "Andy Ellis will leave his mark on Hermione for a long time; we need to be there for her." They all nodded.

"We're telling you this, so you also can come through with us if Hermione needs you. You're all her close friends outside of Hogwarts, Andria; you're her counsellor, as well as her friend." Andria nodded.

"Thanks for trusting us enough, Mr. Granger. For a while, we will not tell Mark and Rick. I think you and Hermione would prefer that, right?"

Mrs. Granger nodded.

"Thought as much," said Gemma quietly.

A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door and a man entered, having been shown in by Mr. Granger. He was wearing jeans and a shirt. The Granger's were surprised; they'd thought he'd be in robes.

He smiled sadly at them as he came in, introducing himself as Arthur Weasley. Instantly, the Granger's trusted him, knowing he obviously knew what had happened.

Arthur Weasley quickly explained to them how Flu worked.

"You literally just throw in some Flu Powder, step in and away you go. On wizarding fireplaces, you'd be able to shout where you wanted to go and you'd land there. On yours however, you are only connected to one destination. Dumbledore's office. So, step in, and then release the Powder. Because as soon as you do, you will start moving. So watch out for that. Muggle fireplaces aren't supposed to be connected really, but in light of what has happened, an exception has been made for yours Mr. and Mrs. Granger."

They all listened to this, trying their best to understand.

"If Hermione wants to reach you, she will step in to the fireplace of Dumbledore's office and shout, the Grangers. That will bring her to you. She, however, could leave from any fireplace inside Hogwarts. It doesn't have to be Dumbledore's office. Whereas you, only have one destination and one fireplace you can leave from. You could, however leave for your house from any fireplace inside Hogwarts."

Mr. Weasley smiled gently at all of them.

"Do you understand? I can go through it again no problem if you don't. Are you all with me so far?"

They all nodded.

"One thing you must remember," said Mr. Weasley gently. "Is to turn off your electric fire when you want to use your fireplace for travelling."

Again, they all nodded.

Mr. Weasley had the time of his life doing the checks with his wand, connecting the fireplace to the Flu Network. He tried not to show it, because this was being done for a serious and sad reason, but they all saw it and managed to smile.

Eventually, the fireplace was connected and they all had a go with the Flu Powder. Dumbledore was in his office at the other end.

They all got through safely and upon meeting him, instantly liked and trusted Albus Dumbledore to protect Hermione.

He patiently and gently showed each one how to get back.

"I'm nearly always in this office," he said to each of them. "If I am not, wait for me and I will return."

They all asked Dumbledore if one day, when this whole thing was over, they could have a tour of Hogwarts. To which Dumbledore responded it would be his pleasure, not to mention Hermione's.

When Andria came through, Dumbledore gently smiled at her.

"You are Andria Abort, I believe?" He asked gently.

"Yes, Sir."

"Please, call me Albus."

"Yes, Albus, I am Andria Abbot. I wrote that little slip of paper."

Dumbledore nodded seriously.

"I have a plan for that, Miss. Abort. I am sure it will work. I understand your reasons for not telling Miss. Granger the whole truth, neither will I, until it is time. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone else who told her the whole truth, about the only thing that can save her."

"You mean, a man?" Andria asked.

Dumbledore nodded.

"That would be so great!" Answered Andria fervently.

Dumbledore nodded and smiled again.

"Yes, yes it would."

When Andria returned, Mr. Weasley asked them again if they understood everything and when they nodded, he left the house.

"Sounds pretty easy," said Victoria quietly, sitting down on the sofa. "I was expecting something different, more complicated for wizard travel. I mean, don't get me wrong, the idea of going through the fireplace is kind of weird, but…"

"I know what you mean," said Mrs. Granger quietly.

"Well," said Mr. Granger, entering with lunch for them all. "To be honest, I hope we don't have to use it much. If we do, I hope it's for a good reason."

The others nodded, but, looking at each other, they all doubted that anything good would happen for Hermione, for quite a while to come. Sadly, they were right.

Mrs. Weasley and Ginny sat on either side of Hermione at the dinner table that night. The men were all the other side of the long table. Hermione tried to talk to Harry and Ron, but the fear inside her was very strong. She was glad they weren't too close to her for comfort.

She asked them how their summers had been and they answered very carefully. They said it'd not been the same without her and they'd missed her. Hermione managed a faint smile in their direction.

Mrs. Weasley smiled approvingly at the boys for their words.

That night, Hermione couldn't sleep. Andy's face continued to haunt her, both in dreams and waking moments. She was trying as hard as she could not to shout out, fully aware of Ginny in the next bed. Hermione eventually stood up and headed out of the room.

She headed down to the kitchen and got a glass of water. She was standing by the window, gazing down into the Burrow's garden, when George entered the room. Hermione looked over at him and the tenderness she saw in his eyes made her want to run to him.

"We're all here, Hermione," George said quietly, walking over to stand beside her. Hermione noticed how he didn't stand too close.

"None of us are going to, or want to hurt you. WE love you, Hermione. We're here for you, if you want to talk to anyone of us."

Hermione just had to ask him.

"George, did I call out?" She asked.

"No," said George gently, "but I saw you walking down here."

Suddenly, Hermione didn't know what made her do it; she took a step closer to George. He didn't move. She stepped up until she was right in front of him.

"I trust you, George." She said quietly. "I don't know what it is, but there's just something about you that makes me trust you after what's happened, even more than I do Harry and Ron."

George didn't seem to require another word. Gently, he stepped closer and took her close to his chest. Hermione's arms came up around him and returned his embrace. At this moment, Hermione Granger felt safer than she had since it had happened.

George held her gently close and neither of them spoke.

"Come on," said George gently after a while, "I'll walk with you back to your room."

"Thank you, George," said Hermione faintly. "That means more to me than you know."

George smiled and helped her from the kitchen and back to hers and Ginny's room.

"Good night, Hermione." He said quietly, as Hermione opened the door.

"Goodnight George and thank you. Thank you for being the first man I trust since it happened."

George smiled, leant forward and gently kissed her on the cheek.

"You're welcome," he said tenderly. "Good night."

Hermione did not mention her private encounter with George, to anyone but Ginny. Ginny was touched and near tears.

"Now can you see why I love them both so much?" She smiled gently at Hermione.

"Yes," said Hermione quietly. "Yes I can."

Two days later, they headed off to Diagon Alley to buy their school supplies and books for the coming year. Mr. Granger had insisted on giving Hermione enough money to pay for her whole years' supplies. Whether this was because of what had happened, or because it was her last year, Hermione didn't know. But most years, she'd managed to find a summer job to pay for her schooling. This summer however, she hadn't managed too, even before it had happened. There had been no jobs going.

"Ginny," said Hermione quietly, just before they apporated back to the Burrow with all their shopping.

"Yeah?" Ginny answered.

"I have to be honest with you; I've never dreaded doing this so much in my life!"

Dreaded doing what, Hermione?"

Hermione took a couple of seconds to answer. When she did, her voice was barely above a whisper.

"Returning to Hogwarts."
