Sorry it's been forever, but this may be where I'm ending the story. Of course I plan on creating an adaptation of this story on my YouTube channel, and yes, it will have an actual real original script in it. Obviously it won't be directly from the media the text in this fanfic story references. I plan on having the animals, especially the adult dogs, speak very intellectually with large words, while the humans speak normal basic modern English, in order to express the dogs' intelligence and will. This fanfic was just me jotting the story down, developing plenty of origins, theories, and connections to the Mr. Peabody and Sherman film. There are also of course other ideas I have come up with to add in different places in the story. And so, because of all that, the adaptation will be quite different than this fanfic, and longer.
Maximus walked through the cave behind the waterfall, glancing around. When he peeked outside, he spotted Daisy's spirit next to the top of the waterfall looking out to the distance, and at the large gray clouds covering the night sky.
"Daisy," Maximus sighed in relief, trotting over to sit next to Daisy.
"Maximus," Daisy responded, nuzzling him.
"I hoped I would meet you tonight," Maximus nuzzled.
"You didn't say goodbye to Hector before he was taken to that adoption center?", Daisy prompted.
"Everyone on the farm is mad with fury," Maximus sighed. "We need to say goodbye to him together and alone," he prompted.
"Okay."
"Sleep in the barn with me tonight? When we return?" Maximus looked sadly at Daisy.
"I wish I could, Max. You'll have to keep our pups warm for me."
"It's not warm without you there. How am I going to live without you?"
"I'll always be watching over you, even if you can't see me."
Maximus and Daisy kissed, and walked back into the cave.
"You'll see me when Ginger and Zoey's pups are born," she comforted him.
"If everyone is back to normal by then," Maximus said with uncertainty, half to himself.
Daisy didn't reply but gave a worried expression as Maximus laid down to sleep. Daisy placed her paw on his forehead.
…
…
…
Hector opened his eyes, and looked around the kennel. All the pups around him were fast asleep. The little door in the back was open, and Hector sensed another presence on the other side. He quietly crept through, and after he walked far enough out, he heard a voice softly call his name. He turned his head, and saw Maximus and Daisy in spirit form. Hector gasped, and overcome with a combination of happiness and anxiety, he raced over to them and nuzzled them.
"I thought I'd never see you again," Hector remarked, and started to weep.
"There, there, it's going to be alright," Maximus reassured Hector.
"Daisy, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault," Hector wept.
"No it's not," Daisy comforted Hector. "Father Noble told me so much about who he wants you to be and what you're destined to do."
"Like causing your death?", Hector asked with a hint of anger.
"No, absolutely not," Daisy firmly remarked. "But Noble told me he never wanted you to stay in that pack. He didn't want that life for you."
"The prophecy Noble gave you, is one you were not going to fulfill by living in that pack," Maximus added.
"Nobody on that farm wants me," Hector sighed.
"Oh, Hector," Daisy sighed.
"You may have had a rough start of life," Maximus explained, "but your real story has not begun yet."
"We need you to move on," Daisy explained. "You need to forget all these bad memories and begin your life."
Hector realized that sounded like what those foster parent dogs were saying. "But I feel so alone," Hector protested.
"Hector, we'll always be with you," Daisy remarked.
"Promise us you will fulfill your prophecy," Maximus stated.
"I…promise," Hector replied.
"No matter what challenges you face, no matter how far away we might seem, we're with you," Maximus reassured.
As Hector nuzzled them, they slowly began to fade away. Hector slowly woke up in the kennel, rubbing his head against the wall. The other pups around him were beginning to stir as well. Hector was ready to start the new, or first real, chapter in his life.
Hector turned his head and body to examine the little red thing sitting next to him. He thought back to every book that he had read before, and he came up with the term, "bow tie." That's what it was. He reluctantly picked it up, with shaking paws, and fastened it on.
"Okay," Hector sighed. After a moment of thought, he stated, "Now I just need a pair of spectacles to go with it."
