Azazel: How long has Amy been on the phone now?
Miu: Since t-the end of the l-l-last chapter.
Azazel: ...What?
Miu: I s-said that she's been on the phone since-
Erin: Are we completely sure that we want to bring Lilith back?
Azazel: What's that supposed to mean?
Erin: Okay, so hear me out; say we bring Lilith back. Then what?
Miu: T-then we continue on l-l-like we normally d-do.
Erin: That's not what I'm getting at.
Azazel: Then stop beating around the bush and specify.
Erin: Don't you think that Lilith's gonna be pissed to shit if she gets back?
Miu:..I r-really don't like the way y-you said "If"-
Azazel: I'm not really catching what you're trying to say here, Erin.
Erin: How the hell can I be more specific here!? God, to I have to break it down for you!?
Azazel: Maybe you can just explain it clearly the first time?
Erin: Okay, when you think Lilith, what's the first word that comes to mind?
Miu: S-sarcastic.
Azazel: Soulless.
Amy: Edgy.
Erin: Aren't you supposed to be talking to someone who can help us right now!? Anyway, based off of those words, what do you think Lilith's reaction would be to being summoned back here?
Azazel: I think that she would... She would... Oh. I'm seeing your point here.
Miu: I think that she w-won't really care.
Erin: Yeah, well, not to hate on you or anything, but I think I know her a little better than you do, Miu.
Miu: Fanfiction-wise, I'm t-technically older t-than you-
Amy: Alright dickwads, gimme the keyboard.
Azazel: Umm, rude.
Amy: Oh, my bad. Alright dickwads, PLEASE gimme the keyboard.
Erin: Who crawled up your ass and died?
Amy: Let's just say that I'm having a hard time remembering these instructions and I want this done as soon as possible. Okay, so I gotta just- Oh. Oh fuck.
Erin: What do you mean, 'oh fuck'-?
Hope did the best she could. Really, she did.
Every order that Foraii gave was completed on the double. Anyone who needed help moving things and cleaning up was instantly given her help. There was no questioning it: Foraii might have been in charge of organizing the evacuation preparations, but Hope was carrying the team on her back. Single-handedly. While running through the fires of hell. On one leg.
"God, why couldn't we have someone with your work ethic arrive earlier?" Etri remarked from where he stood, watching as hope hurried past.
"Maybe we would if people like you could actually carry their own weight around 'ere." Solgren jeered, much to Etri's offence.
"What, exactly, is that supposed to mean?"
"Depends, what do you think it means, Etri?"
"Boys, please, there will be more time to argue after we move all of this!" Hope shouted over her shoulder, dropping off the multitude of baskets she'd been holding, before dashing back in order to grab more.
"Sure thing, mom!" Etri words were quickly followed by a grunt of pain, most likely from Solgren slapping him in the back of his head. Hope couldn't help but laugh at that mental image: two grown demon men acting like bickering children.
"Hey, Hope, you mind giving me a hand here?"
She honestly didn't realize how much time had passed, her head so caught up in what had to get done that, by the time she'd made her way down the list, the sun was on its way out. The low orange glow was coming from torches and fireplaces that had been systematically set up as the night wore on, some of which dimmed by the tired bodies surrounding them.
She had barely noticed how the others had seemed to slow down, and by then, the sound of hurried footfalls and overall bustle was replaced with friendly chatter and laughter. Hope put down the last crate she was holding, dusting her hands off as she scanned the crowd.
In the sea of others, Hope finally managed to track Foraii down, heading over just as someone handed him a cup, "I just finished the list. What else needs to get done?"
The dark made it hard to see his face clearly, but his toothy grin wasn't something she could miss, even if she had tried to, "Holy shit, you finished the whole list?"
"Yes, I did. Wasn't that the goal?"
"That list was supposed to take at least a week, and that was assuming that we had multiple people on it!"
"Umm… Sorry?"
Foraii laughed, placing a warm hand on Hope's back, ushering her closer to the fire before taking a seat, patting the spot next to him, "Nothing to be sorry for, honestly! If anything, I should be sorry for not being specific! Hell, I should be thanking you, doing a whole week's worth in a day!"
Hope's face felt flush as she sat down, unused to this kind of praise. She moved to cover her mouth, faking a cough in order to hide her expression. Not that Foraii noticed, too busy trying to wave someone else down, "Hey, Solgren, do me a favor and get our MVP here a drink!"
"On it, boss!"
It was then that Hope noticed the red tingle to Foraii's face, a giggle arising from her throat, "Foraii?"
"Hmm?"
"Are you… Are you drunk?"
Foraii sputtered at that, before waving his hand to the side, "Of course not! What do you take me for, some sort of lightweight?"
Hope shook her head, watching as Foraii's mock offense with a smile on her face, "I'd never suggest such a thing, I swear!"
"Good, cause that kinda shit'z punishable by baaaaaaaaanishment." Hope couldn't help it, laughing at how Foraii was forcefully slurring his words, Foraii's laugh quickly joining her own.
"I'm serious, though." Foraii finally managed through his laughter, taking a moment to clear his throat, "I have no idea how you managed to do it, but thanks to you, we should be ready in the next few days."
"Guess I gotta make sure that we're ready for anything by tomorrow." Hope couldn't help but grin. Her expression must have been infectious for Foraii to shoot her one of his own, "Can't let you guys down now, that would be cruel."
Foraii shook his head, giving Hope a kind smile, "I honestly feel like I need to give you a day off tomorrow. Don't give me that look, you've already done more than enough for us!"
"Doesn't mean that I need to stop." Hope shrugged, eyes watching as the fire danced before her. It felt so… satisfying. She had a long day of work, and to share the moment after with others, it just felt so…
Satisfying.
"...You ever think that you're doing too much?" Foraii muttered, his voice sounding just a little too somber for the current mood. Hope turned her attention to him, watching as he traced the brim of his cup absentmindedly. For a second, she wondered if he had meant to say that out loud, only for him to go on, "I'm not accusing you or anything, but… You ever take a step back and see how much effort you put into something?"
Hope nodded, "Too often."
"...You ever feel that, no matter how much effort you put into something, or someone…"
"...It isn't enough?" For a second, Hope couldn't help but feel as if she'd overstepped a boundary, a line she wasn't meant to be on the other side of.
That feeling was only confirmed with the small smile on Foraii's face, the expression matching his tone, "You ever wonder if it's worth it?"
Hope casted her glance to the people around them, watching as they hollered and jeered together. She watched as some huddled around each other, telling stories and jokes. She watched
"Well, it has to be worth it, right?"
Foraii answered her with silence, seemingly stuck in his own head. Hope couldn't help but be thankful for the way the shadows obscured his expression from this angle, the fire before them only illuminating the bottom of his chin. He continued to look into his cup, tracing the brim as if it would give his silent question some sort of answer.
She didn't need to see his eyes to know that he was trapped in his own head. A feeling she was more than familiar with.
Before she could ask, Foraii shot up to his feet, "Shit." Hope followed his line of sight, watching as Jade pushed Solgren from a distance, the two of them arguing in what she could only assume were hushed whispers, "Why can't she pick on someone else for a change?"
Hope didn't know why, but she felt obligated to follow Foraii through the crowd, the two of them making their way over. They broke through the crowd the moment Jade threw a punch, her fist colliding with the side of Solgren's jaw.
"Lez, what the fuck!?" Foraii said, his voice coming out as a harsh whisper.
Jade whipped around to face him, seemingly oblivious to Solgren's holding his jaw, "What do you want, Foraii?"
"I want to know why you can't just go one day without starting shit." Hope couldn't help but take a step back, Foraii's quick switch in tone giving her mental whiplash.
"Oh, that's where you're going to jump to? Just gonna automatically assume it's my fault, like every other time?" Jade's voice was low enough to sound like a growl, her eyes practically begging Foraii to start a fight.
Foraii took a step forward, making their height difference all the more noticeable as he bent over a bit, forcing her face to face, "You ever think that I have a good reason to assume that?"
Jade looked like she was ready to retort, punch him in the face, anything. Her eyes challenged Foraii to throw the first punch, Foraii's gaze doing the same thing. Finally, Jade backed down, tossing her hand to the side as she walked off, "Whatever."
It was only then that Foraii breathed out, rubbing the back of his head as he walked over to Solgren, "You okay?"
"She could 'ave 'it 'arder." Solgren mumbled. He didn't sound angry, rather, he sounded sympathetic.
"You sure? Cause I don't think that your jaw should be that color." Solgren gave no answer to Foraii's question, instead following Foraii as he ushered him back over to the group, "Come on, Hope, we're gonna get that drink. Honestly, I think we all need one right about now."
"I can second that." Solgren muttered.
Hope, however, didn't move. She'd yet to look away from where Jade had walked out, most likely going into the forest to blow off some steam. The words left her mouth before she had time to process them, and even then it wasn't like she was going back on them.
"...You guys go on, I'm going to go and see if anyone else needs help."
The look Foraii threw her was one that Hope had to ignore, feeling his warning before he voiced it, "I really don't think that your version of help is going to help right now."
"So you'd rather her wander into the wrong place at the wrong time?"
Foraii looked like he was about to object, only to have Solgren place a hand on his shoulder. The two seemed to have a silent argument, before Foraii groaned, "If you come back and there's nothing left to drink, that's on you."
Taking that as the okay, Hope dashed off after Jade, something she was already too used to doing so at this point.
Okay, okay. I spy, with my little eye… Something blue.
It's the sky.
...You're cheating, aren't you?
No, I'm being logical. Everything else is either green, brown, or some gross color in between. It's not my fault you're so predictable.
Violet couldn't help but mentally plead for some silence, just a second to have her thoughts to herself really would have been nice.
Umm, yeah, how about no?
You can't seriously expect her to go silent just because you asked now, could you?
Violet groaned, slamming the palm of her hand against her forehead with just a bit too much force. She wasn't too sure what the action was supposed to solve, but at the moment, she couldn't think of anything better to do.
All the while, Corvus watched her, casting her a sideways glance every now and then. Violet missed the concern of his face, not that he'd own up to it regardless.
What other road trip games are there that we could play?
The silent game.
No, that's the one you keep for irritating, bratty children that can't shut up.
I'm well aware.
Yeah, well, fuck you too.
Oww, my feelings. Such an insult to my pride, however will I manage to live on?
Yeah, well, I hope you choke on your sarcasm.
If it means I'm not stuck with you anymore, I'll consider it a merciful death.
"Hey, Corvus." Honestly, she had nothing to really say, she just wanted to hear someone else's voice for a change.
"Yes, my lady?"
"I, I umm, well…" Violet looked around, desperately looking for something, anything, to talk about, "...Nice weather we're having."
...Wow.
Indeed.
Violet's face burned brighter when Corvus turned to give her a confused look, "...Are you positive you're alright, my lady?"
"Honestly, you tell me." Violet muttered to herself, doing her best to glare at her own forehead in the process. Sure, it was giving her a headache, but hopefully the two irritants in her head were subjected to the same torture her eyes were under.
And here I thought no one had a worse thought process than me.
Agreed.
"My lady, if you continue to do that, your eyes are going to remain stuck up there." Corvus chided, a small smile gracing his lips.
Violet let out a huff of a laugh, "No they won't." She muttered, before turning to Corvus, just a hint of alarm on her face, "They won't right?"
Corvus shrugged, seemingly more than content to watch Violet mentally mull it over, before clearing his throat, "We do have a whole day to get to Lindow, and I'm fairly sure that we're close."
Violet gave Corvus a confused look, "What are you trying to say?"
"I'm suggesting that, if you need to, we can take a break."
"We left the cabin half an hour ago," Violet retorted, "Besides, I think I had enough of a break with that whole fever spell."
"That's not the point-"
"Corvus, really, I'd rather not waste more time." Violet shot him a large grin, hoping that it would dispel any sort of concerns Corvus had. Sure, she still felt like garbage, but she really wanted to get where they were going. That, and she figured that Corvus was probably tired of carrying her everywhere at this point.
Corvus didn't seem pleased with the expression, an almost irritated frown making its way across his face, "Honestly, Kuro, would it kill you to let me finish my sentence?"
Violet almost jumped back at the venom in his voice. Sure, she'd heard it before, but never had it been directed to her. Honestly, she couldn't help but feel like a kicked puppy, unable to meet his irritated gaze, "Sorry."
Wait, what did he just call-?
Corvus let out a sound between an irritated sigh and a groan, pinching the bridge of his nose with his gloved hand, "No, I apologize, I didn't mean to take that tone with you."
"No, it's fine." Violet said, offering an awkward laugh. It was meant to help break the growing tension, not make her sound broken, "You're just getting your point across, and I was being a douche."
Wow, someone rolled over pretty quick.
Umm, hey, hi, mind if we backtrack real quick-?
"There's no need to demean yourself now," Corvus said, "I'm sure that Hope would agree with me, for once."
Violet shrugged it off, before her mind decided to backtrack a bit, "Hey, Corvus?" It felt like her head was looking for anything else to focus on, reaching for anything that would (hopefully) help the situation.
"Hmm?"
"Do you think that Hope and Jade are okay?"
Corvus stopped walking for a moment, Violet nearly running right into him, "...I'm sure that they are." Violet didn't like how measured his words felt, his clipped tone still sounding a little too irritated for her own liking, "Sorry."
You guys fucking suck.
What in the world are you talking about?
Corvus gave her a confused look, "Sorry for what?"
Violet didn't really know how to answer that one, "I don't know, I just thought that's what you wanted to hear."
I'm over here, asking everyone to take a quick fucking break, and now I can't even remember why I wanted to backtrack in the first place!
Well, if you forgot it that easily, it must not have been all that important, yes?
Corvus' increasingly bewildered expression really wasn't helping Violet's growing nerves, her fingers flying to fiddle with the bottom of her vest, each other, anything.
"God, that wasn't a really good way to put it, was it? I didn't mean that I'm saying it only because I think you want to hear it, cause honestly that wouldn't be right! I just assumed that maybe it wouldn't make you sound too angry and wow that really isn't a good way to put it either."
Well, maybe I'd be able to remember if you assholes could just SIT STILL for a second and let me think!
And here I am, assuming that you aren't able to do something as complex as "Deep thought".
"Not to say that I'm suggesting that you're mad or anything like that, cause god knows what would happen if I managed to get a demon mad!" Violet could hear her voice squeaking as she pushed words out of her mouth, barely able to coherently note what was coming out, "Not that I'm implying that you're mad at me or anything! Cause, hey, if you really were mad with me, you'd probably end up crushing my skull by now, right!?"
"...My lady, not once did I imply anything of the sort."
Hey, up yours, asshole.
Oh, someone sounds a bit heated. But, with all due respect, I do miss your rather creative insults.
"Oh, of course you weren't." Violet couldn't help but feel as if it was getting too hard to breathe, and by god, was it always this cold? "That was rather mean to insinuate on my part, sorry, hahaha."
She barely noticed Corvus stop, unable to really see anything else besides the forest floor, eyes having trained down in order to avoid what she assumed to be Corvus' judgmental looks, "My lady, are you alright?"
I'm sorry, but I don't think that I can understand you over the copious amounts of shit coming out of your mouth. Now, how about you shut up before I pull your spleen out of your mouth?
Ah, there's that refreshing vocabulary of yours.
"Y-yeah, I'm good." Violet muttered, her mouth on autopilot as her head began to ache. It felt like someone had stabbed her with an air pump and was trying to blow her up Bomb-man style, "I'm better than good, I'm great. No, scratch that, I'm absolutely perfect right now."
I'm fucking serious, I feel like he said something important, and now I can't remember it.
Pity, if only your mind were as flexible as your mouth.
Violet didn't feel Corvus' place a hand on her back, nor did she really notice it when he'd come to kneel down on one knee in front of her, worried eyes scanning her own. No, none of that was really noticeable over her head screaming at itself, "My lady…"
Wow, anyone ever told you that you should shut it, or do you normally shut them up before they get the chance?
Says the one who doesn't seem able to leave well enough alone.
Violet snapped from her thoughts when Corvus pressed his thumb against her forehead, finally able to shake off the heavy foggy feeling, "Hey, yes hi?"
Corvus' silence was worse than him yelling, Violet decided, unable to meet his rather scrutinizing gaze. She couldn't help but feel like she was being appraised, wondering if Corvus deemed her worthy enough to deal with, "...Would you like to take a small break?"
For some reason, his calm voice threw Violet off, flinching away as if she'd been hit.
Okay, I don't recall asking your British-imitating ass for any sort of opinion, so how about you go away and do something more useful. Go contemplate suicide, or something.
You first. Death sounds more welcoming than your bothersome voice.
"...N-no." Violet pressed a hand to her forehead, taking a step forward as she tried to tune out the two in her head, "Lindow's close, right? We can take a break there."
Before she could fall on her face, a steady hand placed itself on her shoulder, "If you insist, then we shall continue on. However, I must request you not push yourself."
A tiny part of Violet's mind was breathing a sigh of relief, as if only then realizing that Corvus wasn't seconds away from disposing of her, "Alright, no need to worry your pretty little head off! I'm-"
Oh my FUCKING GOD
Violet could have sworn that, at that moment, her eardrums shattered. She braced herself against a tree, breathing suddenly becoming rushed and haggard. Her ears were ringing, her vision was blurring, and it felt like there was someone pounding their fist against the front of her skull.
Corvus rushed to keep her upright, the two gloved hands on her shoulders the only thing keeping her on her feet. She could just barely hear Corvus repeating her name in a worried tone as her head revolted against itself.
Regardless, Violet managed to put one foot in front of the other, despite her pounding head and Corvus' steady grip on her shoulder.
Violet wanted to say something, insist that Corvus put her down or something. Her head felt like it was about to snap right off of her neck and shatter against the forest floor. Violet felt her mouth open, silently pleading Corvus just make the pounding in her head stop.
Could you just take a SINGLE MOMENT to quit spewing bullshit!?
Violet felt something in her chest throb as anger filled her confused system. It almost felt like an adrenaline rush, the pure rage coursing through her veins. She could FEEL the animosity invading her system from the inside, unable to do much more than suffer from it.
She barely noticed how she'd thrown a hand out to help steady herself, instead creating a fist-sized crater into the wood.
She didn't note how Corvus had to force her away from the tree, his gloved hands moving to inspect her bloodied knuckles. She noted how her hands were shaking, though she wasn't sure if it was with rage or strain.
Would it KILL you
Violet felt her head tilt to the side, her neck no longer able to hold up the weight of her head. Her hands were shaking, slowly but surely curling into fists. Every muscle in her body tensed, as if to contain her fury inside.
She didn't even realize she'd been shaking until Corvus held her tightly to him, as if trying to will her to stay still.
He was whispering something into her ear, something comforting. Not that it did much against the blood roaring and her head screaming, but the sentiment was appreciated.
To just take a SINGLE step back
Violet didn't notice she'd been picked up, rather, she blinked and suddenly she had a clear view of the ground. She couldn't help but feel like a sack of potatoes, having been thrown over Corvus' shoulder in such a quick and easy manner.
Her hands came into view, arms limply bouncing about with each of Corvus' steps, all while her fist remained curled up and ready to knock someone's lights out.
For some reason, she couldn't find any sort of humor with how her hands bounced off of Corvus' butt with each step he took.
And STOP!?
"We're here."
It wasn't Corvus' voice that had made her jump, rather, it was the fact that she could hear him clearly. It was as if she hadn't spent the last five minutes in mental agony. Hell, even the manic twitching and throbbing was gone.
She was too caught up in her head to notice when Corvus put her down, the dead silence cut through when Corvus cleared his throat.
"My lady, I do not think that our search will take more than a day."
"...Huh?" Violet muttered, shaking herself from her silent mind, shooting Corvus what she hoped was a grin rather than a grimace, "Oh, yes, right. Umm, what makes you say that?"
She really should have looked up before asking, the view of the place would have been more than enough of an answer.
Regardless, Corvus answered as she surveyed the remains, "It does not look like there is much to investigate here."
He could not have been more right. At worst, Violet assumed that there might have been a whole section of the town gone, maybe even a part of the surrounding area. Lindow (If this really was Lindow) looked more akin to a wasted warzone.
The remainders of walls stood staggered and at a slat, as if they'd fall over at any second. The ground was more crunchy rubble than dirt, with what she could only assume were once building foundations or roadways. Mountains of debri were scattered about, the wind picking up bits and pieces as it pleased.
Violet took a few steps in, wincing when each step making a loud crunching noise under her weight. Looking down, she noted how there the once green grass had turned to a black rock-like charcoal, marking a boundary of sorts, "What happened here?"
"If I were to guess," Corvus took a moment to inspect a nearby wall, brushing his finger against the surface, "Humans are quite well known for their insistence on mindless violence."
"That's definitely a possibility." Violet muttered, hands tracing over what she could only assume was some sort of scorch mark, "Think it could have been something supernatural?"
"Supernatural how?"
"I don't know," Violet pulled her foot up to step onto more solid ground, sick of how her shoes had been sinking into the floor, "Maybe someone tried to summon a demon and sneezed in the middle of the ritual?"
She smiled at Corvus' huff of laughter, "Yes, I'm sure that's EXACTLY what happened here, my lady."
"Well you go ahead and try to explain these marks!" Violet shot back, her hands dramatically shooting up to display the black soot caked onto, well, everywhere, "It looks like someone exploded."
"Perhaps it was a bomb of sorts?"
"...I like my guess better." Corvus' laughed from behind her, sounding only a little less condescending than before, "Shut up and start looking. That's an order."
"If I may ask, what are we looking for?" Damn, Violet thought, that was a good point.
"Umm, anything that would suggest there's someone that's been holed up here, or something." Violet shouted back, getting on her hands and knees in order to pull a rather large slab of rock from the ground, doing her best to ignore how the smaller rocks had embedded themselves into her palms, "If you find a whole secret base under a hole, that would be good too."
She took Corvus' silence as him being busy, quickly settling back into her own task of trying to move rocks. Honestly, she wasn't too sure for what she should be looking for, instead thinking that she'd know it when she saw it.
She took a moment to dust off her palms, wincing as she dusted her hands off on her pants, glaring at the red pin pricks that had bloomed over her palms, "Whoops."
She did her best to stop the bleeding, pressing her hands against her pants in an attempt to get it to clot faster, only to jump when the edges of her vision fizzed ever so slightly. Violet went absolutely still, too scared to do much more than blink.
She pressed her eyes shut, counting to ten in her head. She already had an episode with "those two", she reasoned with herself, surely that would be all she had to endure for now. She was going to open her eyes, and nothing would be out of place; she'd still be in the same wasteland, trying to find any evidence of Sherman Sutton.
She flexed her hands in front of her, eyes still pressed shut. She was going to open her eyes and see the red staining her hands, the darkened crushed floor under her feet, maybe even Corvus giving her a weird look in the distance.
Violet didn't give herself time to think, instead forcing her eyes open.
And it worked.
For all of five seconds.
She had just enough time to note how bright it was before a red hue fell over everything. Violet blinked, the first of many mistakes in these scenarios, the ground before her becoming this dark all encompassing void.
Violet whipped around to the screaming behind her, only half worried about turning her back to the darkness behind her before her eyes widened. She seemed to be at the edge of the world, the only thing between her and the decrepit shacks in front of her being a group of sorts.
She was standing with a group that felt… familiar, in the back of her head. She felt like she'd known these people for years, more family than friends.
She couldn't help but rush of confusion when she looked past them and spotted a familiar demon with wine-red eyes, ready to open her mouth to ask what he was doing there, only to freeze when those red eyes locked onto her. She felt her system lock up, too scared to move. She could feel the heat in his eyes, no doubt in her mind that all that rage was directed directly at her.
She could hear someone nearby talking, their voice coming out as little more than muffled sounds, as if they were trying to speak through a pillow.
She watched as (Zagan) a large man from her side came up, putting himself between her and Corvus. She could feel how tense he was, as if channeling Corvus to take a step forward.
(Abraxas) Another demon stepped forth from next to Violet, his face oddly serious as he held his large gun against his chest. She couldn't help but note how his fingers seemed to shake against the barrel, not that she was able to think on it for too long.
Violet looked too late, only able to hear the muffled screams as she took in the sight of Corvus' clawed hand sticking out of (Zagan's) the large demon's chest. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't look away from his eyes, their anger captivating in the most dangerous way. It would appear as if the others were just as frozen as she was, unable to do so much as move as the large demon to his knees, off of Corvus' talons.
(Vale) Someone off to her left shouted something, whipping out a knife as if it would do anything to help the situation. She watched as her hand shot out to grab the little girl in front of her, moving to pull her behind and away from Corvus.
(Abraxas) seemed to scream something before opening fire, unable to pin Corvus down. Her head whipped to the side when (Shax) a demon off to her right shouted something, most likely orders.
Disapproval ran through her mind as her vision blinked in and out, her mind seeming to jump from one moment to the next as if it were trying to reconnect itself.
She caught sight of (Zagan) the large demon rising back up, grabbing Corvus with the scorpion tail arching over his back before throwing him into a wall.
She watched as Corvus rose from the rubble of the house, somehow managing to look more irritated as he did so.
She watched as a head flew clean off of the owner's shoulders.
She watched as (Vanth) someone that looked a lot like Hope stared up at her, crying as she shook her head, her already muffled voice even more incoherent with how she sobbed out her words.
She watched as her hands drew back an arrow, notching it before taking aim at Corvus.
She FELT her hands shaking as Corvus took his time, stalking over as her brain screamed at her to shoot.
She felt his gloved hands press against her forehead, the image of Corvus fading in and out with the lighting. His expression turned from cold anger to concern, barely noticing how the red was all but gone from her vision now.
She could just barely make out the sniffling sounds she was making, barely able to keep from jumping as tears burned her eyes. Tears that she didn't understand, no matter how hard she tried to.
She'd just barely managed to get out the words "I'm fine" before he dragged her behind a chuck of rock. A gloved hand came up to cover her mouth, the other held her around her waist, pulling her flush against his body.
She heard it just as Corvus did, eyes going wide as she fought down her additional panic.
She could hear voices chatting, the crunch of gravel echoing in the now silent space.
Erin:...What the hell.
Amy: My bad, I pressed the wrong buttons.
Azazel: Umm, not to be that person or anything, but Lilith still isn't here yet.
Amy: Yeah, I noticed. Thanks for that wonderful insight, Azzy.
Erin: Jeez, just because Lilith is gone doesn't mean that we need a replacement.
Amy: Don't start with me. Glitchz is horrible at explaining electronic stuff, especially when she's all excited and shit.
Erin: Sorry, who?
Amy: Old friend, don't worry about it. Now, hands off of the keyboard, yes? I didn't want to, but I might have to call her in...
Azazel: What kind of a name is "Glitchz"?
Erin: What kind of a name is "Azazel"?
Azazel:... Shut up.
