Chapter 34

Morgana sat there a while watching where Kara had left through the now locked door, her heart sank to the floor as she sighed, she was trying to be a better person and to do that she couldn't make Kara do anything that could jeopardise her relationship with Lena back in her world. She also couldn't break out of this cell, no matter how it irked her to be locked away down the corridor of a mental man who would scream about killing Arthur, he wouldn't be quiet even during the night, it was like he didn't even sleep.

Morgana sighed as she glanced at the gowns next to her, her fingers trailing over the fabric, she had not seen these for years, the colours were vibrant, not like anything she had worn recently, there was also a hair comb folded in the gown, Lena smiled, Gwen was always so thoughtful of others, always trying to help everyone that she could.

She hoped that one day Gwen could forgive her and that they would become friends once more, Morgana had missed Gwen the most, she had never done anything to betray her, everyone else she had held most dear had turned on her once they knew the truth, but never Gwen. She swallowed a lump that formed in her throat at the thought of hurting her once best friend

Morgana rose and walked towards the door, peeking through the bars just to make sure that none of the guards were waiting for her to change, but she saw no one and so she returned to the gowns' picking up a deep red gown she had last worn a long time ago when a lord visited them, back when Uther was alive.

Carefully so as to not injure her ankle further she removed her travelling clothes, examining the marks on her body from the ordeal of their journey, she didn't want to stand there unclothed for very long just encase a guard decided to check on her, she slipped into the dress, the fit was a little looser than she remembered but she had not been eating as a princess recently, food was sometimes scarce in Helios's kingdom and she had lost some weight.

She smoothed out the dress as much as she could before picking up the brush, she could not remember the last time she actually took the time to make herself look presentable, she began to pull the comb through her knotted hair, wincing slightly as she forced her hair to untangle, it took a long time but eventually she was able to freely pull the comb through her hair with no resistance, she couldn't remember the last time she felt so… normal.

Soon her thoughts were interrupted by her door swinging open and two of the guards entered, iron shackles in their hands

Morgana sighed "Is that really necessary?" she asked

The guards seemed a little taken back by Morgana's appearance "We have orders from the King"

Morgana took a deep breath and stood, walking towards the two guards, one still had a hand on the hilt of his sword, expecting Morgana to attack them, she tried not to let it bother her, Kara herself has said that it would be a long process that could not be rushed.

The cold, heavy shackles locked around her wrists, she closed her eyes accepting that this was her life for the foreseeable future, she struggled to keep her face compose

"Where are we going?" she asked, keeping her voice level

The guards gestured for her to move, neither of them answering her, Morgana felt her anger rising a little at their rudeness

"Where are you taking me?" she repeated herself, her voice a little more commanding, she could feel her fingers tingle with magic but she just clenched her fists, she wouldn't lose control over this, she needed to be strong.

"The King has requested your presence" the second guard said through gritted teeth, his dislike for her plain on his face, Morgana got the impression that he remembered her from her past actions as he did not look at her and still kept his hand wrapped tightly around his hilt

The three of them fell into silence as they made their way through the familiar corridors, many people stopped and openly stared at her while others changed where they were going just so they didn't have to walk past her, the young sorceress could hear her name being muttered but she kept her eyes straight ahead

Is that really her? Why is she here? What is the King thinking keeping her here?

Morgana found herself clenching her fists again, but she tried to remain calm, her emotions always got the better of her and that was usually when people around her got hurt, she took a deep breath and tried to block out their voices, their whispers.

She thought of Kara, the blonde had a calming effect on Morgana and she had only gotten this far because of her, she couldn't screw that up now, not while she was being treated well, considering everything she had done to Camelot.

She could do this, she had made mistakes but she needed to atone for them and she needed to help Camelot against the on-coming storm which Helios was sure to be bringing the only question was, would Arthur believe a word that she said, he had no right too, the past had taught everyone that Morgana was not someone to be trusted.

Questions and doubt clouded her mind as she walked silently through Camelot castle's corridors, they were taking her to the grand hall, she tried to take deep breaths to calm her racing heartbeat but it was no use, there was still a chance that Arthur could change him mind and have her executed.

She put that thought to one side instantly, Arthur was not his father, Morgana had no doubt that Arthur had changed as he ruled Camelot, but she hoped that he would at least heed her warnings about Helios and his army.

The guards leading her slowed as they came to stand in front of the large wooden doors of the grand hall, two more guards were posted inside, they both glared at Morgana

"Open the doors" Percy said

The guards pushed the heavy doors revealing the large stone room, the banners of Camelot hung from the ceiling, it was odd to see them again, she looked down towards the long table, but Arthur was not there.

The guards looked around as they stopped in the middle of the room

"Leave us"

All three turned to see Arthur staring out of one of the windows

"Sire?" Percy asked, obviously not thinking it was not the best idea

Arthur didn't turn "I said leave us"

Percy and the other guard bowed and left, closing the door behind them, no doubt standing on the other side of the door, waiting encase Morgana tried anything.

Silence filled the room, Morgana watched Arthur carefully, not knowing what to do, or if she should speak first.

Eventually Arthur turned, Excalibur in his hand, ready to use it as he walked towards Morgana, the sorceress resisted the urge to magically break free of her bonds and defend herself.
