I spoke to the queen in private that night following that dramatic display by the amazons. "My queen, I must humbly apologize for what transpired earlier..." Arwen stood by a window as I spoke. "No, Lady Diana, that is not necessary. I understand." She then looked at me with a small smile. "I'm still a woman too." She then looked at the ground stones and grew more serious. "But I sensed what you most certainly did - and clearly hinted at in your address to them." She then faced me directly. "But you could also see it in their faces...they love you; they worship you already. If they ever worshiped Iluvatar they do so no longer..." "Majesty, the amazon way was born out of rebellion. From my culture also came revolutionary concepts like democracy and republicanism; concepts very much foreign to middle earth." "You no doubt hail from a very enlightened group of people Lady Diana. It surpasses even we elves in many respects; even Numenor." "Perhaps; but such ideas can be dangerous - and destructive - for those not ready for them."
"Agreed. The one ring is no more...but yet you have the key to power already in your hands. The innate power at your disposal alone is enough to subdue the continent to your will." "Respectfully highness I could have done that when I first arrived; if that had been my motive. It is not." "I know. But we are still walking over an ice covered lake here; if we but trod over the wrong patch..." "Let me handle this highness. I will make sure everything remains balanced." She nodded. I left the merchant stuff out of my report for now; there were literally bigger fish to fry.
Things continued to get more complicated. I didn't regret bringing the amazon idea to Arda by any means, but sometimes no good deed and all of that could occur as well. I had to remind myself - middle earth was not paradise island. It was like another version of man's world. It had to be treated the same way; and not disrespectfully.
I found Eowyn. She smiled broadly at the first time we'd been alone in a while. Legolas was on patrol but she was most contented to see me for the moment. She was quick to take me into her arms; she kissed me full and hard with longing. I returned it, but in a more controlled manner. It was just enough to show my affection for her but not to overdo it either. She pulled back and ran a few fingers down my face. "My goddess...I'm so glad to see you, alone." I smiled took her hand kissed its palm and then held it in mine close to my chest. "Eowyn..." She shook her head. "I know; but I did what our sisters wanted; what our early morale needed." I sighed. "They're all willing to worship the gods - but you will be our patron, and then ultimately great Athena and the rest of the pantheon." "Eowyn..." She set her fingers to my lips. "Trust us Diana as we do you. You delivered us from darkness, beloved. Let us make that better world that your divine wisdom saw early on. Please." I gave a small reluctant nod. That made her happy; I didn't want to do different.
We turned in early that night. We slept swiftly in each other's arms, not wishing to make love without Legolas being there. When he finally did arrive and joined us under the covers we again shared our passion that hadn't ideally been expressed for some time now. It was good for us to be together again, and it helped to keep our minds off the many social/political items very much sweeping through the realm.
