Hi I'm late I know but at least it's here.
Grimmjow looked like he wasn't sure whether or not he was pissed off to see her or thrilled. Either way, he definitely wasn't happy to see Aizen as the door slid open. His eyes rolled right over her, pausing a second at her exposed skin before continuing on, until they landed on Aizen. The look in his eyes changed drastically, from slight curiosity to sheer animosity. What happened between the two she didn't know, but she didn't really care whether she found out or not. All she needed to know was Grimmjow's reiatsu spiked and roared at Aizen's in a way she knew was entirely subconscious. Yet Aizen's, with full intent, slid against it to form some sort of dome, pressing down on Grimmjow who's scowl deepened. Neither man moved to speak, instead decided to have a stare down-power show-who's dick is bigger contest. Kana rolled her eyes and grinned, pulling her reiatsu in before sending two tendril's slithering along like snakes towards each of the men. Like a whip the tendril's raised and then cracked against their own, Aizen jolting slightly beside her and staring with slightly widened eyes and a curious expression. Grimmjow's reaction was much more comical, jumping high and drawing his blade, whipping his head around to see who hit him before she waved her fingers at him and he growled. Kana slid her foot back and Aizen took a few steps to the side, obviously aware of what she was about to do.
"C'mon scaredy cat. We're pressed for time." Grimmjow visibly bristled, hunching his shoulders down and raising his blade.
"Ye better control your bitch, Aizen, or I might have to kill her." Kana's hackles would have raised if she was in her other form, so instead she scowled and snapped her arm to the side. Where there was air before appeared Arashi's unreleased blade, purple ribbon rippling as though he arrived with a gust of wind.
"Wanna explain how the fuck you're so sure you won't be the one dyin'?" Grimmjow's scowl deepened and his eyes flashed to Aizen for a split second, as though to see if he'd be upset if Grimmjow cut Kana down where she stood. That was a mistake for more than one reason. To start with, Aizen very obviously wanted her to fight Grimmjow so there's no way Aizen would care if one of them attacked the other. Second, Grimmjow seemed to think she wouldn't take a cheap shot. Kana had learned as a kid that if she fought fair she would lose.
Her reiatsu compressed itself to her body before going two ways. The larger part went to her right hand as she raised Arashi skyward, the other 'piece' reached behind her to push on Aizen's as though to say 'Move back or you'll get hurt'. She had full faith that Aizen would be able to block whatever she could summon, but still. It would ease her own mind to know he wasn't two steps behind her the whole time she dealt with this twat. His own reiatsu brushed against her's as though saying 'I'll do what's asked...for now.' And she tightened her grip on Arashi to stop herself from going weak at the feel of his reiatsu. She doubted she'd ever have time to figure out why his and his alone had that effect on her, but she just told herself she'd deal with it later.
Kana refocused her attention on Grimmjow as his own reiatsu rose a bit, likely in preparation of her attack. She noticed Aizen flash-step away with a slight breeze, though she could sense he didn't go far.
"Kogeki, Arashi no Kami!" As with every other time, there was a rumble of thunder overhead. She brought her hand down as Arashi changed shape, Grimmjow leaping back as her blade extended to it's whip-like form. He grunted as the ground between them cracked from the pressure of her's and Arashi's combined reiatsu, and Kana 'tsked'. Purple lightning crackled along the length of Arashi as she brought him back, keeping eye contact with Grimmjow as she ran her fingers along the length of the scaled blades.
Grimmjow scoffed, raising his hand and beckoning her forwards.
"Come on then! I'm faster than any range you have can reach. If ya wanna fight me you'll have to get closer." He had a point. She crouched slightly, foot sliding back where the tail end of Arashi coiled. She made a show of looking concerned about getting into close quarters and Grimmjow fell for it. Hard. He lunged forwards, and Kana's concerned expression cracked into a manic grin.
"Idiot!" Grimmjow's eyes widened as Kana's voice thundered around him. She cackled shortly loudly, the sound echoing as she whipped arashi to the side. The bladed whip didn't come into contact with Grimmjow, but it didn't need to. Arashi's form held in an even circle surrounding Grimmjow before pulsing a bright purple. Kana's laugh was drowned out by the thundering roar overhead as lightning arched from the whip to strike Grimmjow midair. The strikes continued for a moment before Kana pulled back on Arashi, the blades scratching against Grimmjow's crumpled form just enough to draw blood as he panted harshly where he knelt, his gaze locked on his hands as he tried to stop his fingers from twitching out of his control.
With another crack Arashi was flicked clean, the blades running dull against her finger tips, like feathers to her touch rather than razors.
"You know, Grimmjow," Kana's voice didn't even sound familiar. She couldn't wipe the wide grin from her face, and you could hear her laugh in her tone.
"If you're an example of who Aizen finds powerful then my life looks a lot easier than I thought."
Her grin was pulled from her face as Grimmjow's body shifted. He slowly rose to his feet and her teeth ground together in a scowl at the sound of his laughter. He sounded like a maniac...not that she was one to talk.
"Woman I haven't even STARTED YET!" Kana gasped at the forceful wave of reiatsu from the Espada, having just enough time to leap out of the way. Grimmjow's blade fell, destroying the ground where she had stood just seconds ago.
Kana wasn't sure who started it, but she lost herself in the fight. The only sounds that could be heard for hours was thunder, grunts of pain, blade on blades and crazed laughter from both fighters.
The only light in the sky came from the crescent moon. There had been a few clouds but they had darkened and drifted further towards Las Noches around the same time Orihime felt Kana's reiatsu rise sharply. The orange haired girl kept her sorrowful gaze on the moon, fingers shaking as they clutched her arms to her own chest. Behind her Ulquiorra stood at the open door, though she refused to turn.
"The other woman has started training under Aizen-sama's supervision." The entire palace seemed to shudder under her feet and she finally turned away from the window. Her eye's widened as the reiatsu spiked again, and she gasped as the familiar yet not sound of cackling echoed in her head. She flinched, dropping to her knees and clapping her hands over her ears.
"Kana-chan...what are you doing?"
Orihime tried her best not to cry as she felt her friend get more and more excited as the fight drug on. Her reiatsu matched her opponent's near exactly. It was her first time feeling Kana's reiatsu be so free. Part of her wanted to be happy for her friend, but all Orihime could focus on was how like the Arrancar Kana was. She had been relieved to have Kana come with her, but now Orihime was starting to feel like this had all been a terrible mistake.
