I hope everyone is staying safe during this whole COVID-19 situation.
I finally got time to sit down and crank this out thanks to some help from my beta reader, Tim the Vocalist, who helped me not only finish this chapter, but the next chapter as well, so you're getting a two for one special today, and the completion of this story!
I want to thank everyone who read, and reviewed, during this story. It took way longer to complete then I would've liked, but hey it happens in the fan-fiction world.
Enjoy!

Lunala touched down on a strange, dark world that was almost as black as a pitch black sky, black buildings that looked similar to prisms, just like Necrozma itself, piercing the dark of what the three trainers assumed to be night, but since this strange location was new to them, they couldn't tell if it was like that all the time. The beast that calls the moon was breathing heavily, no doubt due to the massive strain carrying the three humans, as well as two Pokemon, had on the creature.
"I'm sorry, Lunala..." Rose apologized, stroking the creature gently on its neck. "You'll only have to carry some of us on the way back."
"So long as we can complete our mission here", Wes muttered, a feeling of dread filling him.
Jason was also feeling uneasy, looking around before he spotted two figures walking towards them, wearing the exact same outfits that the Ultra Recon Squad were donning. Although the darkness was straining his eyes to look through, he could see enough of them to see that a very tall, blue haired woman and a shorter man with a mustache and goatee, also blue in color, were approaching them.
"Welcome, residents of Alola", the woman said with a serious tone in her voice. "I am Soliera, a member of the Ultra Recon Squad. Necrozma has returned here from Alola, you will find it up ahead on the giant tower over there." With a swift gesture of her head, the three trainers' eyes were drawn to a structure in the back, only unlike the rest of the buildings, this one had a pillar of pure, white light coming from it, the only source of light for miles in his dark, cold world.
"Our citizens have already evacuated inside", Soliera continued to explain. "They fear it will fly into another rage, as it did when that woman Lusamine appeared."
Jason nodded, before looking over at the man, who was staring intensely at the three of them. "So... this is what the humans of Alola look like? I would quite like to investigate you farther, if the circumstances weren't grim... Ah, yes, I am Phyco, the captain of the Ultra Recon Squad."
"...as much fun as it would be to become a lab experiment, I think we have something a little more important to handle right now", Jason muttered, not liking the stare he was getting from the so called 'captain', as if he was already being probed just by his gaze alone.
"I do warn you, however..." Soliera stated, looking at the top of the tower she gestured to earlier. "Now that it has found a source of light, Necrozma is regaining it's true power. As powerful as you three may be, not even you may be able to combat it."
"We don't really have a choice", Wes muttered, shaking his head. "Powerful or not, we need to save Nebby- I mean, Solgaleo, from Necrozma's grasp. So, it doesn't matter how powerful that thing is, we need to go up there! Plus, we got Legendary Pokemon on our side too, so I'd say that evens the playing field."
This, however, did not seem to ease the looks of fear on the faces of the two Ultra Recon Squad members. With a heavy sigh, Phyco spoke again. "Very well... you will find it atop the Megalo Tower... but don't say I did not warn you three."
"I can feel Necrozma growing in power", Nayru muttered, looking worried at the tower. "Let's hurry!"
The three trainers dashed toward the tower, the light of the structure slowly illuminating their way, the uneasy feeling getting more and more unsettling as they ran. Eventually, after a silent elevator ride full of tension, they continued their sprinting up a flight of stairs that curved around the tower, however, as they ran, golden light began to shine, and got brighter and brighter. By the time they finally came to a giant platform atop of the tower, they already knew it was too late.
Nebby as standing in an aura of pure, golden energy, a prism like object leaving the armor on his forehead, before suddenly bursting with energy, blinding them all with the power it contained. By the time their sight was restored, Necrozma had completely changed shape once again, resembling a colossal dragon of pure light energy, with golden limbs connecting four, light wings to its torso, which also had the same golden hue as armor. Two giant feet hovered just above the ground, the tail of the beast swishing in anticipation, the prism eyes of the creature watching them curiously.
"...uh, guys?" Rotom chimbed in, sticking his head out of Rose's bag. "I don't want to be the one to give you guys this bad news, but remember how the Totem Pokemon could increase their power through an aura?"
"...yeah?" Wes asked, already fearing what the device was going to say.
"Well, let me just put it this way... I don't think you guys can win."
With a sudden roar, Necrozma suddenly gained a golden aura, the shockwave of the explosive power radiating off it almost sent them flying into the air from the power alone, and Maple fell to the ground in order to keep herself from flying off. "Ok, any smart ideas?" the electric rodent asked, eyeing the beast in fear.
"Just one", Jason said. "And it's the same idea that I had when facing all the legendaries that I was told were far too powerful to battle alone."
"And that would be...?" Rose asked, eying her teacher with genuine curiosity, though she refused to turn away from the beast in front of them.
"Push away that urge to run... and bring everything you have to this battle!" Jason said loudly, gripping one of the master balls on his belt. "We've come so far, and we have no choice but to free Nebby! If we can't bring back our friend, Alola... no, the entire world we call home will suffer!"
"That's my kind of plan honestly!" Wes shouted, throwing forth his Luxury Ball and sending out Zero, who roared as he eyed his pray.
"Come out, Primarina!" Rose called, sending out the sea lion Pokemon, who seemed like she was going to clap with glee before realizing exactly what they were facing, and eyeing the creature with a bit of fear in her eyes.
"Zekrom, defend them!" Jason ordered, sending out the dragon of Ideals once again. The electric dragon roared in defiance, staring down Necrozma and definitely garnering the beefed-up beast's attention. "Rotom, scan that thing and let us know the instant you have an idea of what typing it is! We need to be able to take it down as fast as possible!"
"O-ok!" Rotom called, flying forward. With a roar, Necrozma sent out a beam of light, the blast almost blinding, towards Primarina, who only had moments to brace herself, before the attack slammed into her, instantly knocking her out and sending her skidding to Rose's feet.
"Primarina!" Rose called, recalling the mermaid Pokemon.
"Don't let it get another one of those off, Zero!" Wes called. "Use Multi-Attack!" Zero charged forward, pink energy radiating from his claws before he slashed at Necrozma, causing the beast to roar in pain. Despite his aura increasing his stats, the attack seemed to have an effect, and with that Rotom knew what type of Pokemon they were dealing with.
"According to my analysis, it seems to be a Psychic and Dragon type!"
"Well... not ideal, but I can work with that", Jason said with a smirk. "I didn't get to use all of Zekrom's moves, since you kept sending out Fairy-types, but at least I don't have to restrict him now! Zekrom, unleash your anger! Outrage, now!" At that, the Black Dragon let out a furious roar, and its scales took on a tint of red, his body even crackling with a dark electric current, before he rushed forward, slamming into Necrozma with the pure Dragon attack. Necrozma growled in rage at that, opening his mouth and unleashing another beam of energy, this one purple in color. Zekrom took the full brunt of the blow, flying back and landing on the ground with a heavy thud, knocked out in a single move by the light Pokemon. Jason's proud smirk was now a grimace of horror, his eyes wide and his jaw dropping at the display of power.
"H-How!?" Rose gasped, looking in shock, nearly dropping Reiki's Ultra Ball that she had pulled from her bag.
Jason quickly called back the knocked out dragon, putting the master ball back on his belt, before pulling out an Ultra Ball, snarling. "It must have an ability that makes its super effective hits even more powerful... I've never seen a Dragon Pulse with that much oomph before. Thankfully, I have something it can't possibly be super effective against!" With that, he threw the ball forward, and a familiar looking bug-type popped out, the Golisopod's four beefy, white arms ready for combat. "Namira! First Impression!"
"Zero, Multi-Attack!" Wes commanded. Both Namira and Zero charged forward, slamming into Necrozma with all their might, the two attacks connecting. Necrozma flinched for a moment, before his prism eyes turned and stared at Zero straight on. Deciding the man-made legendary was the biggest threat right now, Necrozma suddenly lashed out with his wings, and the metalic cry that rang out from Zero signified just how powerful the move that was used on him was, as the beast collapsed to the ground in an instant.
"Zero, return!" Wes called, recalling the injured creature into his ball. "What kind of move was that?"
"Smart Strike", Rotom called out. "A steel type move, which means that approaching it with Fairy type Pokemon has become dangerous as well!"
"Psychic and Dragon, with Steel moves to boot", Rose thought, looking down at Reiki's Ultra Ball, then throwing it high into the air and sending out the jackal-looking Pokemon. "Ok, Reiki, use Meteor Mash!"
"Sakura, come forth and use Scald!" Wes called out. Sakura appeared and unleashed a powerful torrent of boiling water, while Reiki charged forward with his fist glowing. The two attacks collided, but Necrozma's pure power brushed off the attacks like they were nothing. This time, it turned to Namira, before opening his mouth, the blast this time was blue in coloration, slamming into the bug type and sending it to the same fate that befell Zekrom before it.
"Oh, COME ON!" Jason roared, recalling the downed Golisopod. "It knows Power Gem, too?!"
"We have to be doing some damage to it!" Wes called out, bracing himself as a Photon Geyser from the legendary caused Sakura to faint as well. "It can't last forever, now that we know it doesn't know Recover!"
"Ok, so we just need to hit it with enough force!" Rose called out, as Reiki also collapsed. A heavy sigh escaped the redhead, as she recalled her downed Pokemon. "Great... no one else on my team can really beat that thing... well, maybe Eva can, but she's weak to Dragon Pulse."
Wes also sighed, turning to Nayru. "I might need you soon... I hope you are ready."
That was when a light shined in Jason's eye, and he grabbed the other Master Ball in a hurry. "That... That's it! Wes, Rose... you need to Mega Evolve Nayru and Eva! They need the boost to last just one more hit!"
"A-are you sure one hit from both of them will be enough?" Rose asked, looking worried as she pulled out the Great Ball her trusty Salamence was in. "I mean, sure, Double-Edge with Aerilate will be strong for sure, but..."
"Trust me, this'll work!" Jason said. "I just need you both to use Double-Edge and Hyper Voice while Yveltal gets in position! By the time Necrozma realizes what we're doing, it'll be too late!" He then turned to Nayru, giving her a smirk. "After all, I have one last move that'll put it in the red... one you're very familiar with, right?"
"...first of all, go-" Nayru's word there was censored by Wes shouting her name. "-yourself. Second of all, I see what you're doing here, and I'm on board. Let's do it!"
Jason smirked, and threw the final Master Ball forward, unleashing the Destruction Pokemon, who screeched in anger, sensing its master's rage. "Yveltal! Use Phantom Force!" With a terrible screech, the wyvern-like bird vanished in shadows, making Necrozma look around in anger, wondering where its big, red target had gone to.
"Eva, come forth!" Rose called, unleashing her first Pokemon from the containment of her ball, before the keystone in her hairpin began to glow with energy, just as Wes' necklace also took on the same glow. The energy crackled in the air, catching the attention of Necrozma, who turned and eyed its new targets as they transformed before his very eyes.
"Now!" Jason called out. Yveltal appeared from nowhere, blindsiding Necrozma who did not see the attack coming, and had dropped its guard.
"Nayru, Hyper Voice!"
"Eva, Double-Edge!"
Only the commands they had issued were not what was performed. Nayru suddenly began to charge all the energy in her body into a single point, before sending a powerful blast of energy forward. Eva, meanwhile, was surrounded by a blueish white glow as she dashed forward, jetting through the air like a fighter plane. The two attacks collided with Necrozma, who's roar of pain told them all that, finally, they had done significant damage to the beast, sending it falling to the ground at last, the light energy it had slowly beginning to leak out.
"...what did you do?" Maple asked, as both Wes and Rose, as well as their Pokemon, were looking in shock at what had just happened.
"I had a couple spare TMs in my pocket", Jason said with a grin, holding up his pokedex. "While you were focusing on Mega Evolving Nayru and Eva, I beamed the information for Hyper Beam and Giga Impact to them. Since I kinda forced them to forget the moves you commanded, they had no choice but to use the newly learned moves that took their places. A Pixilate powered Hyper Beam and an Aerilate powered Giga Impact are extremely powerful, I knew they would take it down no problem."
"Hax, but SO COOL!" Nayru grinned, as she turned back to normal. The light began to disperse from the area, and a panting Nebby stood where Necrozma once was. As the light left the area, the three trainers looked around and noticed that Necrozma had vanished, leaving the world they had chased it to behind for now.
"It will likely take some time, but eventually we may also be awash in light again, like you all..." they heard Soliera say, turning to see she had come up to the top of the tower, along with a Ultra Beast that Wes recognized as Poipole. "I thank you all... I didn't think you could defeat Ultra Necrozma, but you have impressed me." The Poipole by her side suddenly gave a cry, as it flew about, looking at Wes with eager eyes. "Well now... it seems like this Poipole is also impressed by you three... especially you."
"Me?" Wes asked, pointing to himself in confusion.
"Can't say I blame it", Jason said, smirking a bit. "You have done a lot of impressing today... I think the little guy wants to come along with you."
Soliera nodded, pulling out one of the strange balls that the Ultra Recon Squad contained their Pokemon in. "Strange, we use Poipole here as partners to defend us from the creatures of Ultra Space... I believe in your world they would be what you call, 'starter Pokemon'?"
"Well, that's interesting", Rose stated, watching as Wes was handed the Beast Ball. "Still, I'd rather avoid any interactions with Ultra Beasts if I could."
"I doubt we can", Jason said, frowning. "There was a lot of chaos that happened when Necrozma attacked Alola... I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't the only wormhole that opened when Nebby was poke-napped." He then glanced upwards, into the dark world. "And from what you told me of that thing that you first witnessed on Aether Paradise... the jelly-fish thing... they're not above trying to feed on humans and Pokemon alike."
Wes gave a slight nod, recalling the Poipole into the new Beast Ball he had obtained. "Well, I'm sure this little guy will come in handy then, should we need to fight any more of them. Though for now, I'm with Rose... let's get Nebby back home!"
At that, Nebby gave a weak roar of agreement, leading the way back to where Lunala was waiting for them, with the bat creature looking up in glee at the sight of its counterpart joining them. Rose boarded the back of the Lunala, while Wes got on top of Nebby, along with Jason. Both creatures gave a roar, opening an Ultra Wormhole and jumping in, before taking off along the stream of timelines and universes that awaited them, their destination the Prime Universe they had come from.
As they rode, Wes heard the jingle from earlier, along with a sigh from Jason. "I wish I had more revives to spare, but you pretty much used up my supply before we left", the teacher groused. "I only have enough to heal up my team to max... but I'll get you both some once we get back. My treat."
"Thanks, Jason", Wes nodded, smirking as he looked forward, though that smirk quickly faded. He noticed that both Nebby and Lunala were moving slowly, weakened by both Necrozma and the weight they had to carry. "Come on, Nebby, can't you speed it up a bit? The longer we stay in here, the more at risk we become..."
Before Nebby could reply, a sudden, chilling noise caught their attention. The hairs on the back of Wes' neck stood up, as he slowly looked over his shoulder, and had to do everything he could to keep from crying out in shock. At least a dozen of the creatures they had fought at Aether Foundation for the first time appeared, their jelly-fish tentacles flailing about in hunger, as they 'eyed' their newly spotted prey.
"Nebby, move!" Wes called, looking back forward, not willing to turn about and stare at the beasts that were moving onto them rapidly.
"He can't go much faster than that, he's still weakened!" Rose called, as Lunala realized the danger behind them, and seemed to be deciding if she should try anything.
Jason stared at the swarm of Beasts behind them, and back up to the path ahead of Nebby. Thanks to their battle before, and the added weight of two people and a Gardevoir, the Solgaleo was moving far too slow to escape. Unless something slowed down the Nihilego, they were going to be captured. And thanks to them not knowing the typing of these monsters and the trouble they have given his students before, it was highly likely they wouldn't survive this encounter.
A heavy thought hit his heart, and he knew immediately that this one action was the only one he could take. He looked forward again, looking at the back of his most problematic student, giving one gentle smile that the others couldn't see, before letting go of Wes' back. "Nebby, keep running forward!" he shouted. "No matter what you hear, do not turn around!" He spotted Wes starting to turn his head, and quickly forced the silver-haired boy's head back forward. "That goes for you, too, brat!"
"Jason, what are you-" Wes started, squirming in his seat.
"Shut up and let me say my piece", Jason commanded, his voice leaving no room for protests. As his hands left Wes's shoulders, the student felt something slip into his pocket, but he was too terrified to turn around and face the swarm behind them. Jason then placed his hand on Nebby's back, slowly bringing his legs up and beginning to stand on the back of the Legendary. He glanced over at Rose, seeing that she was staring at him with wide eyes, wondering if he was crazy for what he was doing right now. "You two have been... the biggest thorns in my sides... and the best first students I could ever ask for. So I have some requests for you two when you get out of here." He reached for his belt, grabbing the two Master Balls he held as he turned to face the Ultra Beasts chasing them. "One... I want you both to graduate with heads held high. Take pride in your accomplishments. You've both grown so much and have made so many strides in the right direction." He threw the ball in his left hand, Zekrom's mighty roar filling the air as it charged forward, managing to knock two of the Nihilego off of their tail.
"J-Jason, no!" Rose called out, but her hands held onto Lunala firmly. "We can take them together, we-"
Jason, however, shook his head, and continued speaking. "Two... treat every pokemon you meet with kindness from this day on. No matter how weird or wild it is, hold on tight to that love and never let it go." He threw the ball in his right, and the energy Yveltal held attracted more of them off of the chase, but it still wasn't enough. Even then, he knew he couldn't leave. His two pokemon needed his help fighting these monstrosities.
"Three..." He reached to his belt once again, grabbing onto the Dusk Ball that held Ven inside, and the students could hear his voice catch. "Tell... tell Em that no matter what happens to me... I love her. With all of my heart." He sniffled as he ran his arm against his nose, tears forming in his eyes. "Wes... Rose... thank you for everything. Goodbye."
With that, he jumped off of Nebby's back, throwing the Dusk Ball forward. In a flash of light, Ven the Noivern appeared, catching his trainer on his back. Jason glared at the Nihilego, despite the tears in his eyes. "You want a snack, you damn, oversized Tentacruel?! Then come and get me! Who's easier to catch?! The Beast that Devours the Sun?! Or a stupid kid of a Champion?!"
Whether the Nihilego could understand him or not, it was uncertain. But the Ultra Beasts, seeing that he was moving slower than the Solgaleo, all changed targets, now chasing him into the dark depths of Ultra Space.
"JASON!" Wes cried out, but Nayru was holding him to Nebby's back, blinking back tears in her eyes as she fought to keep her master on the creature. On the back of Lunala, Rose and Maple were also crying, but unlike Wes the two of them faced forward, determined to make it to the open portal that was fast approaching. Rose dared to look back one final time before they passed the gateway, only she could see nothing more than space around them.
And just like that, it was gone.
