Gotham VS The Good (Part 1)

Armed guards were positioned on the end of the pier as the boat entered the harbor. Many more were stood around a nearby warehouse accessible via water. If there were this many on the outside. Robin wasn't looking forward to seeing how many were inside.

Robin's mind was racing. He studied his surroundings as fast as he could. How many guards were on point, where were they located, what number their hanger was, fire escapes and exits of the building. He didn't have long though before the boat entered the hanger. The dark and cold night was replaced by bright industrial lights. Dangerous looking men were scattered around the building holding machine guns, watching as the boat prepared to dock.

The warehouse seemed like any normal one. Wooden crates by the water prepared for loading, a switch room overlooking the harbor on the second floor assessable via stairs with a connecting catwalk on either side of the warehouse looking down on the building. No windows were present except for the large one overlooking the entirety of the warehouse. Part of Gotham's tallest skyscrapers could be seen from the window.

Two of the Penguin's men roped the boat into the warehouse before providing the Suicide Squad with a plank to walk on to get back into solid land. The Squad carefully debarked from their boat. Pulling a knife from his suit, Deadshot ripped the blade along the rope suspending Robin. He fell with a huff and a loud thud echoed around the warehouse.

After having been suspended for however many hours, a knock to the head was not pleasant in the least.

"Up." Deadshot ordered, pulling Robin to his feet. Robin tried to stand but he felt sick. His head was all over the place. Deadshot practically threw him over the wooden plank. Robin tumbled over the side and skidded into a wooden box.

"Well! Looks who's finally arrived!" Cried a voice from one of the doorways of an office room. Robin crocked his head to this side looking for the voice. He knew exactly who it was. 'Cobblepot.' He grumbled in his head.

Deadshot picked him up by the arm and walked him over toward the center of the building. The two brushed past Catwoman who was watching intently beside the Suicide Squad.

"You know, Deadshot. There's fashionably late. Then there's stupidly late. You're the latter." Penguin taunted as he walked toward the group.

"Kid was more trouble than I was expecting." Deadshot admitted.

Robin groaned as he rose to his feet. "Penguin." He spoke angrily.

"You seem tense, Robin. You must have had a long ride. Welcome home, by the way. We all missed you." Penguin gloated, looking over toward a bald man in a snazzy suit standing guard. "Victor!" He yelled.

"Yes, boss?" Victor Zsasz replied, raising a non existent eyebrow as he had shaved them off.

"Go get our guests." Penguin smirked.

"With pleasure Sir." Zsasz grinned before walking away.

Robin was so very tempted to jump off from the floor and punch Penguin in his dumb monocle. But that would be suicide. This wasn't Jump City no more. The criminals here were far worse. They wouldn't hesitate in firing shots if they got a chance. "I take it the diet didn't last very long after I left."

Penguin looked down at his gut in annoyance. "You might be laughing now but believe me when I say you'll be begging for my mercy."

"Whatever you're planning- It's not going to work."

"That's where you're wrong. There is no grand scheme this time. No heist or something tacky involving wind up penguins or the like. I had you brought to me for one very simple reason, Robin." Penguin knelt down toward Robin and pulled out a shiv from the holt of his umbrella before pressing it against his neck. "To kill you, in exceptionally over the top fashion." Penguin's eyes were wide with excitement.

Victor Zsasz returned to the room being followed by three of Robin's old Gotham foes.

Johnathan Crane. The Scarecrow. Dressed in his haunting attire. Old ripped farm clothes along with a long, thick rope noose around his neck. His mask seemed to look through you with a devilish grin and wide straw hat that hid a majority of his face. Robin could hear Scarecrow's breath from under the mask. It was cold and excited. Scarecrow's fear toxin was sat at his hip in small delicate canisters, the same ones connected to his glove which he could use from his glove directly.

Following behind him was a man Robin had no recollection of. This man was a knock out. Beautiful enough to be a model and his clothes looked incredibly expensive. That is until the man's face and clothes began melting away into a human shaped like of mud. Definitely Clayface. Robin was disappointed in him. Last he heard of Clayface, he was starting to turn a new leaf. He should have known better. However why was Clayface after revenge? He hadn't done anything to him even when he was in Gotham.

A final Gotham supervillain exited the office and Robin would be lying if he wasn't at least a little bit nervous, because in front of him was the breaker of the Bat. The hulking behemoth Bane. Thick wrestling boots laced up to his knees over large tactical pants. He wore a thick leather jacket with a wooly neck which he removed and tossed aside as he drew closer to Robin. His venom tubes visible behind his back which were injected into various muscles around his body. His signature mask gave Scarecrow's a run for its money. A white skull was painted on a black luchador mask.

"I've waited a long time for this, boy. And I'm certainly going to savor our time together." Penguin pulled his blade away from Robin's neck.

"Ahem." Deadshot coughed down at Penguin.

"What?!" He squawked back at the assassin.

"We're not your henchmen, Cobblepot. I brought my end of the deal. I hope you did the same."

"Both ends I might add. No Cats Bride. No deal Pengy." Catwoman warned.

'Cats Bride?' Robin thought. What's she talking about?

Penguin huffed and signaled Victor Zsasz over who was holding two brief cases. "Not. That one." Penguin told Zsasz pointing at one of the cases he was holding. Zsasz raised an eyebrow but did as he was told. Bringing only one of the brief cases over he opened the case in front of Catwoman.

"Your work is appreciated Ms Kyle. I'll hold you to my end of the deal." Penguin clicked his fingers and nodded his head. Zsasz handed Catwoman her brief case which Catwoman eagerly opened. Inside was the Cats Bride necklace. "Pleasure doing business with you, Oswald." Catwoman smiled and went to leave the building. That was until she heard Robin call her name. "I hope selling out to Penguin was worth it, Selina." He hissed.

"Oh don't look so upset, hun. These jewels aren't just pretty. They're priceless. You understand right?"

"I don't think I'll ever understand how you work."

"Maybe you'll understand better if I showed you." Walking back over toward Robin, Catwoman kneeled down behind him and opened the case in front of him. "It's said this was Cleopatra's most cherished possession behind Julius Caesar. He had gifted it to her in proposal. An engagement necklace for royalty if you will." While some watched the history lesson Catwoman gave they failed to notice Catwoman slide Robin a small lock pick and smoke pellets from her outfit.

As Robin and Catwoman bickered, the exchange between Penguin and Deadshot began to heat up. "However, Deadshot. Your services were ultimately insufficient. I expected better from you. Tell Waller I'm keeping my leverage against Harvey Dent until I'm satisfied with her services and that goes for your phone call to your daughter too." Penguin explained with Deadshot clenching his fist in anger.

"We had a deal, Cobblepot. I brought you the kid. Now hand over the damn briefcase!" Deadshot yelled.

Penguin didn't move nor did he say anything. He simply stood there. Grinning at the Devil's Hitman. Deadshot didn't want to have to do anything drastic. He just had to get that briefcase and let Waller take things over from there. "Don't make me shoot you, Oswald." Deadshot threatened.

"Shoot me? You're heavily out gunned and out numbered. Your crew's deaths will be on you, friend." Penguin smirked, walking closer to Deadshot. It was almost impressive that a man so weak and physically pathetic can be so confident in the face of death.

"We can handle ourselves mate. How 'bout you just give us that case and we can take off and leave you to snapping the bird's wings 'ey?" Boomer proposed and walked toward Zsasz to which he promptly drew his gun toward Boomer's head. The smile on Zsasz's face spoke all the words he could say. Boomer walked away, mumbling how Zsasz was a freak under his breath.

"And I thought you were fucked up." Frost said nudging Harley's arm.

"I grow bored of waiting." Bane spoke eyeing off his new toy to break.

"Patience Bane. If Waller's lackeys don't remove themselves from my property in the next ten seconds… They're yours to keep." A smile emerged under Bane's mask. Everyone's gun drew on the Suicide Squad. If Deadshot didn't do something now this was going to go bad real quick.

Catwoman noticed the room had become far more hostile for her liking. "Well Oswald, it's been a pleasure but I'm going to love you and leave you before the party starts." Walking away from the other villains holding her case, Deadshot knew what he had to do. "What if I can get you someone else. Someone Batman cares about as much as the kid. Right now."

Penguin's brow raised and looked over at Catwoman, then back at Deadshot to him promptly nodding. "BOYS!" Penguin yelled before pointing a finger toward the cat burglar. All the gunman aimed their rifles at Catwoman. "Ahh drat." She sighed. Zsasz walked up to her, snatching the case. "Hope you've got a few lives spare." He shrugged.

Deadshot tapped his ear piece and spoke to Waller. "Send the video." He said.

Zsasz walked her over to Robin and shoved her down beside him. "Hands where I can see them." He ordered. Smiling sarcastically, Catwoman raised her hands. "Well that took a weird turn, huh kid?" She said to Robin who was still looking upset with her.

"Now Deadshot. I hope some proof comes with this accusation. If not, it's all your necks." Penguin threatened. The rest of the Suicide Squad stared at Deadshot. "Check your phone." He said.

Penguin pulled his phone out of his pocket. He had received a message from a private number. Penguin opened the message, finding a video of security footage from one of Gotham's buildings. The video showed Catwoman falling quite a height only to be caught by Batman. The pair swung in the air for a moment before they came to a stop. Their eyes gazed at one another's before they planted a kiss on each other's lips.

"Weren't you taught that snitches get stitches, Deadshot?" Catwoman groaned.

"Now you've got the Bat's boy and his girl. Now hand over the case." Deadshot ordered.

Penguin thought about it for a moment before gesturing a nod to Zsasz. Complying with his boss, Zsasz handed Deadshot the case of evidence against Harvey Dent. "Nice work." Zsasz added with a wink.

"Your phone call to your daughter will take a short while to prepare before it's safe to contact her. I wish you all good evening." Penguin concluded.

"That's why you brought me here?!" Robin snapped at Deadshot. "Everything we've been through these last few days. All of it was to get back at HIM?!" Robin yelled at Penguin. "My friend was shot which lead to another having an internal meltdown. Not to mention the buildings that were bombed. It's a miracle that no one died because of this and it turns out that you're not even out to hurt ME!"

"And your point would be what?" Penguin asked.

"My point, Cobblepot, is that you're a coward. You can't beat Batman and this is the only way you can hurt him. You can hurt me. You can kill me even. But you'll never beat him."

Penguin laughed and slapped Robin on his cheek. "The Penguin. Never. Loses. Because on the contrary. I've already won!" He announced and started laughing. "Scarecrow. Gas them. I want to see them scream."

"Finally. Some excitement." Scarecrow grinned. "What do you fear most, I wonder?" He asked pointing his fear gas at Robin.

"I don't know. But I'm not about to find out." Robin had picked the lock with the tool Catwoman had given him a short while ago. Grabbing Scarecrow's arm, he pulled himself up and cracked him across the face knocking he down to the floor. Catwoman also jumped from the floor and took a stance behind Robin. The pair were back to back against Gotham's criminal elite.

"A fighter till the end I see. It's admirable. But it won't save you. Bane, kill them" Penguin ordered. Bane cracked his knuckles and stomped toward the two. Robin and Catwoman grew nervous as Bane came closer and closer. They were at a loss of what to do, until Robin caught a glimpse of a familiar shape in the corner of his eye. A fire ignited inside his heart. It was time to do what he did best- Kick bad guy butt.

"No. But he will." Robin smirked, looking up at the window facing Gotham city.

All of Gotham's criminals gasped in shock as the Dark Knight smashed through the window. Glass rained down over those unfortunate enough to be standing underneath the window. Penguin ducked for cover as Batman landed between Bane and his allies. Everyone stood in shock. No one knew what to do. Suddenly they were all in serious danger now that Dark Knight was in play. Penguin desperately looked around the room wondering what everyone was doing.

"HOW DID YOU?!" Penguin started to ask but realised it was irrelevant. "DON'T JUST STAND THERE! KILL THEEEM!" He screamed and took cover behind some boxes.

"Get down." Batman ordered. Robin and Catwoman hit the deck, Batman dove over them using his titanium lined cape as a shield. Bullets showered the trio. Every henchmen with a bit of brains left opened fire on the human pile. All of the villains ducked for cover when the bullets rained down. Team Penguin ushered their leader away from the gunfire to a safer area of the warehouse while Deadshot shoved everyone toward cover on one side of the warehouse. "Look out!" He warned as everyone ran back on to their boat hiding behind the back barrier.

"Convict! We're detecting gunfire inside. What's happening?" Came Amanda Waller over Deadshot's earpiece.

"Batman showed up and everything went to shit! We have what you want but we can't move until the gunfire dies down." Deadshot yelled back, slipping his rifle off his back while preparing it for battle.

"And what of Deathstroke?" She asked.

"Nothing yet but he'll show and when he does, we'll handle him." His gun cocked, ready to lay waste.

While Batman's cape was incredibly durable, it wasn't going to last much longer against this sort of firepower. "What's the plan?!" Catwoman asked, keeping herself as small as possible.

"Robin. When I tell you- Use the pellets." Batman said in a stern tone. Robin had no idea how he knew he had the pellets but right now he didn't care. Batman groaned in pain as the bullets struck his suit but the opening he was looking for was about to arrive. "Now!" He ordered. Ditching the pellets at the floor smoke erupted from under the cape filling the floor of the room. Many of Penguins henchmen took the chance to reload. Each of them looked for any sign of a crusader emerging from the smoke.

"Hey kid. Here." Catwoman said to Robin, pulling out his dart gun and the escrima sticks that Slade had given him. "It's all I could save from being thrown into the ocean." Taking the items, he nodded. "That wasn't everything." He replied, pulling Beast Boy's communicator out from inside his glove as he slipped it into his back pocket.

Every goon's heart was racing, waving their guns around. Each looked at each other for what to do and everyone looked as worried as the other. One man who stood under the smashed window decided to hell with vision and cocked his rifle, preparing to fire into the smoke until his gun was pulled from his hands and disassembled into pieces seemingly from nothing. A whistle came from behind the man. Turning to see who it was, he was met by a gloved fist cracking him across the face.

A second, younger looking Robin stood above his foe, grinning at his victory with Raven standing behind him. "We haven't won yet." She warned him, looking at the man's friend who had spotted them.

"Watch this." The young Robin said, running at the man. He hurled a birdarang at the man's gun, destroying the barrel. The man looked down at his gun in a panic as Robin drove his boot into his head, knocking him into the wall in a heap. "WOOO is that all you got, big man?!" Robin yelled. The smile on his face disappeared when he noticed all the criminals looking at him with a confused anger on their face.

"THERE'S ANOTHER ONE?!" Penguin screamed.

"Uh oh." Robin grimaced.

"Move it!" Told a stern Raven. The pair darted down the end of the catwalk behind Raven's magic toward the switch room overlooking the warehouse. Taking shelter inside the box they stayed out of sight.

Penguin was beyond furious. "Does no one have a grenade?!" He asked looking around at his men. One man ran out of cover toward the box. The man pulled a grenade out his back pocket and wrapped his finger around the pin, but was blasted back into a wooden crate before he could pull it out.

Cyborg stood in a doorway, his cannon smoking where he blasted the thug. "Sorry to crash your bad guy convention." He grinned, firing another shot and taking down some of the gunmen shooting at Batman.

Robin's eyes lit up hearing his friends beside him. Fists clenched and eyes focused, he looked up at his former mentor. Words weren't needed between the two. With a firm nod, the three burst out of the smoke ready to join the fight.

Victor Zsasz knew this wasn't going to end well. Ducking under cover, he crept over toward his boss. "I suggest we hightail it out of here boss."

"You think?!" Penguin yelled in response before snatching the cases containing the 'Cats bride'. "What are you waiting for?! Lets go Victor!"

"What about us?!" Came Clayface who snuck up behind the two with Bane also behind him.

"Kill them. Obviously?" Penguin responded as if the answer was obvious.

"For your sake, little man. You best hope we succeed." Threatened Bane who stood out from cover. Cranking a dial on his suit, green venom pumped into his muscles. Bane grew in size and let out a violent cry before charging toward the Dark Knight who had just disposed of the men gunning down Raven and Robin who were still safe inside the control box. "BATMAN! I WILL BREAK YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN IF I MUST!"

"You're welcome to try." Batman replied calmly, cracking his knuckles in preparation for his bout with Bane.

Still fighting side by side, Catwoman and Robin worked together to take down the goons between them and Penguin. They struggled to fight their way through the small army of gunmen. From behind cover, Robin grew frustrated seeing Victor Zsasz escort Penguin toward an exit beside where everyone had parked their cars. "Penguins getting away!" He announced.

Catwoman shielded her head from behind cover as bullets ricocheted past her. "Can you get me past them?" She asked.

Robin shook his head. His bo staff was effective but was useless at range. Both of their ears perked up at the sound of a grapple gun being fired over their heads. "Need a hand?!" Came the younger Robin splitting through the pair and crashing into the henchman with his two feet sending him barreling into another to knock them both down. The men went to get back in the fight but behind them stood a giant metal man who simply clunked their heads together. The men were counting the birds circling their heads as they fell unconscious. Raven also floated down beside him. Both wore large smiles on their faces. Their friend was safe. All the stress and uncertainty was long forgotten. They weren't done with their mission but the three Titans couldn't help but celebrate the minor victory.

"Cyborg! Raven!" Robin gleamed.

"Now who said you can go running off for all the fun?" Cyborg asked with folded arms.

"Without us." Added Raven. The three chuckled before Cyborg pulled Robin in for a brotherly hug. Timidly Raven smiled, gently pressing herself against the boys but they both pulled her in forcing her way out of her comfort zone. "Okay. Enough. Let me go."

"Well this is wholesome and all, but if you kids will excuse me. I have a birdy to catch." It wasn't much of a goodbye but she didn't have the time for something better. Before she ran off, she turned to the younger Robin who was just kind of stood watching the teens awkwardly. "Play nice kid." She warned with a raised eyebrow.

The Titans released each other from the embrace. Robin stared at the boy in front of him, eyeing him up. Approaching the boy, he extended a gloved hand. "Thanks for your help." He said simply. He might have come across as a bit of a prick but this was a little surreal for Robin. It was like looking at a younger version of himself.

The younger Robin wasn't deterred by the awkward introduction. Batman had previously mentioned to him how his former partner didn't have great social skills. "It is an honor, Robin sir." The boy glowed, firmly shaking Robin's hand back. "I can't believe I finally get to meet the original Boy Wonder! Name's Jason Todd. I have orders from Batman to follow your orders as if they were his. Whatever you need. I'm your guy, Dick." Jason explained.

Robin nodded at his replacement. But a scoff came from behind him. Cyborg was staring at Jason with a dumbfounded look. "What did you just call him?" Cyborg asked upset at boy for insulting their leader.

Jason stared at the other two Titans confused until it clicked. "Wait. They don't know about… You?" Jason asked Dick. Also realising how this looks for Cyborg who was yet to learn about his identity, Dick coughed and subtly shook his head.

"Know about what?" Cyborg asked looking between the two Robins. "Now's really not the time Cyborg. We have bigger problems to worry about." Raven pointed toward a certain clay criminal walking toward them.

"I don't want to fight you kids but I don't have much of a choice." Clayface sighed. His fist molding into a hardened spiked mace.

"Whole lot of good that does us Claybutt." Jason insulted.

"I got an ultimatum for ya." Cyborg grinned. Dick wondered what Cyborg had to be so smug about. He felt a presence behind him. He expected to see a fellow Titan behind him but his eyes widened when he realised who it was. "You can fight our friend instead." Cyborg suggested with arms crossed.

"GRUNDY GONNA MAKE YOU HURT MUDMAN!" Grundy screamed and launched himself at Clayface. "What the fu-?!" He exclaimed before being slammed into the floor and kicked away by Grundy.

Robin stood dumbfounded and looked at Raven for an explanation. All he got in response was a shrug of her shoulders.

"Ugh guys. We should probably do something about that." Jason suggested pointing toward the boat on the dock. A group of criminals who had caused them all a lot of grief, popped their heads out of cover to observe the warzone.

"Someone get the boat going. Now." Deadshot ordered.

Boomer darted through the door for the driver seat. Turning the engine over, he was ready to gun it out of there when he was met with a knocking on the windshield. Boomer looked up at a very angry Starfire. "Bugger me! Lawton! Help!" He cried toward the back. Deadshot ran around to the front of the boat locating the problem, only to be slammed by a starbolt nearly knocking him off of the boat. Losing his grip on the case in an effort to stay aboard the boat.

The princess swooped in, snatching the case before Deadshot could take it back. Deadshot didn't want to shoot yet another teenage girl unnecessarily but he would if he had to. Aiming one of his wrist mounted machine guns, he readied a shot at Starfire but with one hand she grabbed his wrist and crushed the gun with very little effort. Deadshot groaned in pain.

"You will not hurt anyone else." Starfire warned.

The rest of the Suicide Squad ran around the boat to the commotion. Starfire smartly took off with the case, escaping the danger. Her eyes sparkled when she saw Robin smiling back at her. Like her friends, all the stress was forgotten. Her friend was okay. "Robin!" She exclaimed as she practically tackled him into a hug.

"It's good to see you too, Starfire, but this isn't the time." He sighed sadly, letting her go.

"What's in the case?" Cyborg asked.

"Whatever it is, it's important." Raven said.

"How can you tell?" Robin asked.

"Cause they want it." Jason pointed out.

The Suicide Squad looked furious they just got robbed of their goal by a group of teenagers. Both sides knew it was inevitable that a fight was about to erupt over the brief case. Five hardened criminals with killer instincts and their lives on the line, versus five teenagers who've done the impossible before and had been itching for a rematch.

"Get the case."

"TITANS GO!"
