"King Frederick, Queen Arianna, as the captain of the Corona royal guard I have sworn to defend this kingdom against all who threaten it but as a father, I cannot face my daughter in battle and so it with a heavy heart that I…retire from my post." The whole room fell into stunned silence as The captain made his announcement.

"Captain, you have served Corona with dignity and pride for so many years, thank you."

"And we respect your decision." The King and queen graciously accepted the Captains resignation,

"And as for my replacement, it was a very difficult decision. There are so many qualified guards."

"Can we get some water over here?" Artemis, Eugene and Rapunzel looked to where Stan stood, holding Pete from hitting the floor.

"Have any of these guys ever successfully guarded anything?" Lance nudged Eugene and Artemis jabbed him in the ribs, "They caught you, didn't they?"

"Touché."

"My replacement has put his life on the line for Corona countless times and so it is with utmost confidence that I recommend Eugene Fitzherbert." Artemis bit back a laugh as her older brother spit his tea onto the captain's helmet,

"Wha—?!" Lance draped an arm over his long time friends' shoulder, "Ha Ha! Captain Fitzherbert, I like the sound of that. Hey, uh, buddy, I have a few outstanding citations, so if those could somehow, you know, disappear?" Artemis grabbed lance by the Ear, "Here's an idea…don't commit crimes you don't want to pay for."

"Ow! You know, you're pretty strong for someone so small." Artemis merely smiled, "I know…All those years of hauling Varian to his room really built muscle."

"What do you say, Fitzherbert?"

"Me?!"

"Me, Captain of the guards?" Artemis and Rapunzel sat perched on Eugene's bed, "What is he thinking?"

"That you're the perfect choice!" Artemis looked at the helmet Rapunzel was holding up, "She's right, and you know it. You know the Streets of corona just as well, if not better than the captain, and on top of that, you're a reformed thief, so catching the baddies will be a piece of cake."

"Oh, L-look, look I'm flattered by everyone's support, I really am, it's just that me? Come on. Artemis said it herself, I was a legendary thief, I was Flynn Rider."

"You were Flynn Rider, now you're Eugene. Maybe…give this captain thing a shot." Artemis climbed off the bed as heavy foot fall filled the corridor,

"Where's the fire?"

"Come on, let's check over here!" The three poked their heads out the bedroom door, "Whoa, hey, what's the commotion?"

"The princess' crown, it's been stolen."

"Uh…A little more specificity, Stan?" he looked at the teen, he had almost forgotten that there were now two princesses in the Palace,

"Rapunzel's Crown, Again." Stan gave a quick bow of his head before taking off again, Rapunzel's face stretched into a grin, "Oh, sounds like the kind of thing the captain of the guard might handle, huh?" Eugene looked unenthusiastic as Rapunzel nudged him in the ribs,

"For the record," He pushed her back a bit, "I have not yet accepted that position."

"Fine, I'll got find Rapunzel's crown while you sit and cry about possibly the best job you could have, you know, other than being a foreign monarch."

"Why don't you go see that boyfriend of yours? I'm sure he'd be a lot more appreciative of that sarcasm." He started pushing her down the hallway,

"Maybe I will, and maybe we'll find the Crown on our own, Or maybe we'll do other things, alone, while Quirin is gone." A cheeky smirk crossed her face as Eugene's eyes shot wide open, "No. No, no, no. Actually, now that I think about it, you're better of here, where hormonal teenage boys can't touch you." Artemis laughed at the over protective charade he was putting on.

"Relax, Eugene, I was only teasing."

"I never know with you, you're unpredictable and I can't deal with not knowing if you're serious or not."

"The ceiling, no one would think to stand guard up there. Whoever did this must be a criminal mastermind, the likes of which Corona has never seen."

"Uh, Stan, Pete. I literally committed the exact same crime."

"Sir, we've got a detailed description of the thief." Eugene looked at the poster in confusion, seeing his won face looking back at him.

"Very funny, who put you up to this?" he showed the poster to the guard, "Oh, nobody wants to own up, huh? Okay, well I'll get to the bottom of this."

After Eugene has scared the daylights out of a poor elderly man, he quickly left the workshop.

"Nice Job. So now you're back at square one. We don't really have time though to be chasing look-a-likes, Varian has something to show us in the courtyard. We spent the last couple of weeks making sure it works."

"So that's where you've been disappearing to. I thought I was going crazy."

"Well—"

"Ah, not another word. Let's go."

"Ladies and Gents, I give you The Rrrr—"

"I just can't believe how much this guy looks like me, and he's using my moniker." Varian cleared his throat after the rude interruption,

"I'll wait." Eugene sheepishly hid the wanted poster behind his back, "Oh, Sorry."

"Thank you, I'll start again." Artemis shook her head, chuckling a bit, even though he was back on the right side of history, he still had a bit of his mischievous bite from his time as a villain,

"I give you, the Rooster!" he lowered the large wooden shield to reveal the machine, "Or, at least it will be, when we put it together."

"It doesn't look like a rooster."

"Uh, it's an early warning system." Artemis moved to stand beside him, "We built this just in Cas Cassandra or any other dangers threaten Corona, this will fire a glowing mortar into the air and alert everyone in the Kingdom."

"Great idea, you two. Right, Eugene?"

"Eugene?"

"Yeah, sorry. It's just, cheekbones like these, they don't just come around twice in a generation, people. They don't." Rapunzel lowered the flier, "Eugene, this is more important than some…fake…Flynn rider."

"Rapunzel, he stole your crown, I mean, only I could get away with that. Look, Flynn rider has a reputation I refuse to have it tarnished by some hack imposter. I am going after him."

"Well then, We're going with you."

"Uh, I hate to nag, but who's gonna over see the Roosters installation? All military grade applications require supervision by the captain himself." Lance was messing with something in one of the crates and Artemis stepped forward, slapping his hand,

"Do. Not. Touch. It!" she strained, enunciating each word, Varian smiled, almost as if proud.

"Lance, you're acting captain of the guard until I get back."

"Sweet! A promotion."

"Varian, you're in charge of Lance." Lance looked to the younger of the teens, "You don't have that authority."

"Actually I do, as a states person I have the power to appoint project supervisors, and since it's Varian and I's machine, we can't risk something going wrong, so you may be the temporary captain, but He's your boss." Lance looked confused by the explanation.

"I'll see you when we get back." She placed a quick kiss on Varian's cheek and hurried to catch up with her brother and Rapunzel.

"Would you get a load of this villainous scum, huh. Sorting through his booty with his well-manicured hands." Artemis grimaced as she looked out of the bushes to see him dropping gold coins down the front of his pants.

"Not enough money in the world can help you compensate, buddy."

"Counting his loot with his piercing, almond brown eyes. He makes me sick."

"Hey genius, he's gone."

"Ah, he's onto us, Max!" Eugene quickly took off after the thief, Artemis launched herself onto Max's back as they took off, Rapunzel was not far behind them on foot.

"Come on, Max, this fool is as good as caught." Max neighed, "What do you mean he's faster than me?" the look alike grabbed onto a vine to attempt to escape but misjudged his own speed, the vine whipped him around a large tree and right into Her brothers waiting frying pan.

"Why do you have that?"

"It has many uses." Artemis watched as the rebound knocked the thief into a tree some distance away.

"Not so fast now, is he Max?" Hopping off Max's back, the four of them surrounded the crook, "Now, time for some answers, huh?"

Rapunzel had made quick work of tying the thief to the tree, giving Pascal the job of waking him up, the chameleon did so by sticking his tongue into the crooks ear,

"Ugh, what is…is this hair?"

"Yeah, it does the job." Rapunzel stood some feet away, frying pan in hand, "Oh, it's your hair? In that case, hi." He tried to woo her and Artemis laughed from her hiding spot, "The name's Flynn Rider."

"No it's not, nope, Nada, full stop." Eugene popped out from behind Rapunzel, Crown in hand, "You thought you could steal the crown better than me, huh, didja, didja? Well you thought wrong." He handed the crown to Max, "Can we lock that thing up better, please? Thanks. But let's talk about the real offense Grand theft to boot. How do you look exactly like me?"

The look-a-like laughed, "Exactly like you? come on, come one now, don't flatter yourself."

"Oh, don't flatter myself, No, don't flatter yourself buddy!" Artemis poked her head out of the bushes, "Can you believe this guy? Big talk from a persona stealer."

"You stole it first."

"I adopted the persona, there is a difference." Annoyed the teen crawled out into the clearing,

"Law-man sell out."

"Ooh-hoo, who are you calling sell-out, huh? And you know what, Flynn rider never had a mustache.

"That's because yours truly gave him a long overdue upgrade, big ears."

"You, sir, have gone too far." Rapunzel snatched Eugene back before he could hurt the look-a-like

"Relax girls, you're both pretty." The fake Rider turned to look at the teen, "Oh, two pretty girls." Eugene narrowed his eyes, "First, that's my sister, so don't even think about it, secondly, she's taken, and third she will actually hurt you."

"That little thing?" Narrowing her eyes at the condescending tone Artemis pulled up one of the black rocks, keeping the tip just inches from his neck,

"Watch how you address me, you might look like my brother, but I'll still hurt you."

"Duly noted." He whimpered in fear.

"Eugene, Relax, Artemis, easy on the rocks, we don't know where he came from.

"Yeah, Eugene." He chuckled, "Relax." Rapunzel stepped forward, "Don't test me, Rider." The thief quickly shut up, "Come on, let's get this…Flynnposter back to Corona."

"Why do you always bring people here when you don't even like it yourself?"

"I bring people here because I know they will hate it." Artemis looked between the two, Rapunzel eyes widened as if she had just realized something, "Wow, that really makes the day you two met feel so special…doesn't it?" The three of them hurried into the establishment

"So there I was, you know, I'm surrounded by a battalion of guards, all with their arrows drawn and pointed at numero uno, so I hand over the goods and I say 'I see your point.'" Some of the thugs laughed at his story,

"He's just really…full of shit." Eugene looked down at his sister, "Where'd you get this guy? he's great."

"Great? Wha—that's not even his story, it's mine. And he forgot the best part."

"Oh no…" Eugene climbed onto the bar to finish the story

"And then the captain said 'Lock him up and throw away the kay' and then this is where it get's great, I spend weeks in jail while they search for it, but man it was worth it. For the story, you know?" everyone looked bored, and shorty had even fallen asleep.

"But, uh, I guess you had to be there."

"Well of course, all that is nothing compared to the time I took on the earl of Camembert, single handed." Eugene leaned back against the bar, looking defeated. "Eugene, you really need to let your jealousy of this guy, go. That's not who you are anymore."

"Flynn Rider was the closest thing to an identity I ever had, ok sure I was on the wrong side of the law, but I was my own man. In Corona I'm just…Rapunzel's incredibly attractive boyfriend, or that super good-looking free loader living in the castle, or the powerless brother of some crazy, chosen host to an ancient deity that can control the black rocks," Artemis looked hurt by her brothers words, "I can't let somebody tarnish my legacy."

"Legacy?"

"Crazy?" Rapunzel scoffed and Artemis grabbed her satchel, "You were a thief. Behind each stolen item is someone who's upset or heartbroken that it was taken. Is that a Legacy to be proud of?" Blue and gold eyes watched the sneaky thief crawl behind the bar and followed after him

"Well honestly it depends on the—" Using their conversation as a distraction Artemis crept away, following the imposter down the trap door exit.

"And where are you going?" Artemis tried to block the imposters path but he dodged around the rocks, "Sorry, Blondie, I'm not that easy to catch." The blonde teen gave chase again, skidding to a halt when she saw the look-a-like flat on his back, looking up she stepped backwards, preparing to run away.

"well, hello again Rider, and look his no good sister who helped ruin my daughter's wedding day."

"Do I know you?"

"Baron…" she called back down the tunnel as the gigantic thug advanced on them, "EUGENE!"

"Trail ends here, pal?"

"He's not alone, who is that?" Rapunzel looked at the hulking figure that was hauling not one, but two bodies, "If I didn't know better, I'd say that's…the Baron?"

"The Baron, here?" there was panic in the princess' voice, "Yeah, I know, awful right? However, it also solves our problem, doesn't it."

" The captain of the guards duty is to protect all of Corona's citizens." Eugene stopped for a minute, but didn't seem like he was swayed yet,

"I mean, do we know for a fact that he is a citizen of Corona?" Rapunzel undid her hair and threw it across the chasm to the other side,

"He was also carrying two bodies. I'm betting the other one is Artemis, she disappeared not long after he did."

"Dammit, Kid! Okay, Okay you're right, I'm coming."

The trail stopped at an old broken down bridge, "That's the Baron's hideout?"

"Woo, talk about your fixer-upper."

"Great, so not only do you have my brother's stupid face, but you've gotten me into just as much trouble, if not more."

"You were supposed to steal this for me, years ago. And now that I've got it, it doesn't even matter." The man threw the crown down at their feet.

"In my defense, I was never told to steal anything for you."

"Be quiet, or I'll shut that pretty mouth of yours up, permanently." He stepped out of the shadows "Look what's become of me."

"Y-y-you know, I'm looking at you and—and—and there's a lot of you and I am-I am drawing a blank. Now, and don't take this the wrong way, but you have a face that is hard to forget. Believe me, I'm trying."

"Enough games, Rider. I've lost everything because of you, and now I'm gonna take everything from you."

"Kay, h-here's what I think. I, uh, I-I-I-I-I-I think that you think that I-I-I-I'm somebody else." The baron growled in displeasure and let go of the imposters vest,

"I'll start with her." There was a twisted grin on the Baron's face as he moved to her side of the post, "Whatever you do to me, I've probably been through worse."

"Oh, I doubt it." Screaming and a sudden thud Alerted the three to a new presence in the room, "You came for me!" Artemis watched as Eugene hurried to his feet, rubbing his shoulder, probably I pain from the impact,

"Eugene!"

"All right! do you know this guy?"

"This guy, unfortunately, I do, Baron, that must be you. right? I mean, I can't really tell because I don't think you're aging very gracefully, like, at all, have you considered a moisturizing consultant because I can put you in touch with my guy, he's very cheap."

"There are…two of you?" The Baron quickly let go of Artemis who scrambled away from him, "Well, it's…more like one and a half, if I'm being honest."

"If you're being honest. You hush your mouth! You're not even a third of the man I am."

"Break it up, you're obviously the real Rider." The baron quickly snatched the teen off the ground, holding her in place by the back of her neck,

"Ah, well, thank you very much for recognizing the genuine article."

"Nobody has that fragile an ego."

"Let go of me!" She could feel his grip tighten on her neck, just enough tog et her to stop squirming, "Artemis, listen to me, don't try and fight him."

"So, then it's settled. Uh, if you could just, unlock these shackles, my good man. I'm gonna…get on out of here." The Baron grabbed Eugene's collar, "Not so fast, I'm gonna get rid of all of you." He rechained Artemis across the room so he could shackle Eugene to the post alongside his Imposter,

"Just knowing this is the last time I'm ever going to see you; it really brings the smile to my face."

"Barry, bobby, seriously, last time? Last is so…finite."

"And I, well, honestly, I'm having a hard time making that out as a smile. More of a stern glare."

"He is right you know, smile's usually carry Deschene markers, you know, those little wrinkles at the corner of your eyes?" The baron looked at the teen, "What?"

"Deschene Markers, it's a…never mind." She caught the scowl on his face.

"Your girlfriends here, but not for much longer." The Baron walked towards the wall, ripping on of the stone clogs and letting the cavern fill with water,

"Now, if you'll excuse me

"Why is it every time I go on an adventure with you, it ends with me almost dying?!"

The baron climbed out of the Cavern to take care of Rapunzel, leaving the three of them to imminent doom,

"Uh, Eugene. It occurs to me that as we are about to face our doom, now might be a good time to apologize."

"Actually, no, now is a good time to help me get us out of here." Eugene went back to trying to pick the shackles,

"Will you just listen to me? Look, I'm sorry, to both of you. I stole your name; it gave me an instant reputation. Without it, I'm nobody. Just boring old Brock Thunderstrike."

"Come on, we gotta—I'm sorry, what did you say your name was?"

"Now's not really the time to be impressed!" her head was still above water, but just barely, "Eugene…" He looked over at his sister, Noticing the terror in her eyes almost broke his heart, "Okay, it's gonna be okay, we'll get out of this, we always do. Just sit still and…" He turned to Brock, "If you can get your wrist close enough I can pick your lock and then you can pick ours." He motioned to the teen across the room.

"Okay, got it." Eugene made quick work of picking the locks on the cuffs and Brock's hands were soon freed, "Nice work, man, you are better than they say. Color me impressed, woo."

"Thank you very much, now could you please—" Brock was walking away, Panic settled in Eugene's chest as he looked to his sister once more, Both Rapunzel and Varian would be heartbroken if things ended here and he knew that.

"Where are you going?!"

"Sorry, Pal. Not my fight, I want your reputation, not your problems."

"Come on! You wanna be Flynn rider? Go ahead. Leaving comrades behind is definitely something Flynn Rider would do. But ask yourself, is it something Brock Thunderstrike would do?" the imposter didn't turn around.

"Eugene l—" The water finally covered her face as she noticed the small lizard through a hole in the cavern ceiling,

Pascal made quick work of freeing Eugene who dove down to rescue the younger girl, once they broke the surface she sputtered, She kept her arms wrapped tightly around her older sibling as he swam them to safety "I don't think I've seen you this scared before."

"I'm going to kill that man and mount his head in the snuggly duckling." Eugene was stunned, but just shook his head, he knew she'd never actually kill anyone. Pulling them both out of the cavern and back onto solid ground, the two rolled onto their backs,

"Thank goodness that's over."

"Eugene!" Looking Between his sister and Rapunzel he hurried towards his girlfriend, "Don't worry, I'm Co—oof!" The baron charged him out of nowhere, grabbing another large boulder before trying to smash his head,

"This is how it ends." Artemis quickly used her powers to shatter the boulder with a cluster of sharp rocks, just as Borck beat him over the head with a frying pan.

"Let my brother go!" As if timed for that moment, Brock beat him over the head with a frying pan.

"Oh mama, I have got to get me one of these." He offered Eugene a hand up, "Flynn, you came back!"

"Yeah, well…" Brock stopped as Artemis hurried to help Rapunzel get free, "No, Flynn didn't come back, Brock did."

"Eugene."

"Oh, come on!" with the three pushing on the giant boulder that pinned Rapunzel's hair they managed to get it free, but it didn't look like Max could hold out much longer, with a little quick thinking Rapunzel used her hair to pull the boulder into Max's place,

"Run!" everyone scattered in different directions but Artemis felt something grab her ankle, "Let go of me, HELP!" the rock slab started to crumble, large chunks falling towards them like meteors in the atmosphere. In a Panic she shot her hands into the air to create a shield as protection the rocks bounced off her shield, trapping the Baron in the rubble.

"Wow, has she always been able to do that?" Brock looked at the strange black sphere made of rocks as the teen lowered her shield, limping towards her friends, the Baron had a hold on her ankle, so the debris did some damage.

"As far as we know it started two year ago. It's been really useful through all of our adventures." Pascal returned with Rapunzel's crown as the four began their walk back to Corona.

"You sure you're okay, Kid?" Artemis smiled, "Yeah, I'm sure, it's probably just a minor sprain."

"You know the kid's gonna freak out when he sees that bruise, or when you tell him we almost drowned?"

"When I tell him? You're the one who sucks at keeping secrets." She teased as they stopped walking, Maxx kept on, carrying the Baron on his back,

"So, Uh, I guess this is the part where Flynn Rider goes to jail, huh?" Eugene looked at his doppelganger sternly as he went to put the cuff's on,

"Eugene?" Artemis smiled to see the two were shaking hands, "It's true, yes, Flynn Rider should go to jail, but as it turns out, I only see Brock Thunderstrike standing before me. Just promise me that you'll make your own future and carve out your own identity. And whatever you do, do not let and awesome name like Brock Thunderstrike go to waste, man, because wow, what a name. that's like a gift from the heavens, you know?"

"Well in, uh, in that case, Princess, Captain…" He stopped at Artemis, "Oh, don't even go there, buddy."

"I bid you, Adieu." The parties went their separate ways

"He's not so bad." Eugene ripped the imposters wanted poster off the tree, "I really don't like him."

"Y-Y-You l-l-l-look ri-ridiculous!" Artemis said through fits of laughter as Varian tried to fix his extremely disheveled hair,

"What even happened while we were gone?"

"Lance added too much Flynnolium to the Rooster and it exploded." Shaking her head as the medic finished wrapping her ankle she climbed off the exam bed,

"So how did you sprain your ankle, anyway?"

"It got caught when we were fighting the Baron."

"The Baron? You mean that Guy your brother and Lance stole from, the same baron that wanted Eugene dead, that Baron?"

"The very same. And you know, he was a lot uglier than when he tried to force Eugene into Marrying Stalyan."

"You almost got yourself killed, and you're cracking jokes?" the young Alchemist looked beyond pissed off

"Relax, Varian. I'm fine."

"But what if you weren't?"

"What?"

"What if you weren't fine, Artemis. I spent almost a year in prison while you were out on the road with Rapunzel and the others and sure I plotted my revenge, and I made a ton of mistakes by joining the Sapporian's, but I also worried about whether or not you'd be coming back in a body bag!"

"What are you—" He had pulled her into a tight embrace, his arms wrapped tightly around her waist.

"I don't know what I'll do if I lose you." was he…crying?

"Varian, I didn't mean—" he now held her at arm's length and she could see the fear, "I know you don't mean to cause trouble, but every time you come back hurt…I get angrier and angrier because I'm not like other guys our age, I'm not strong and I don't care about becoming a guard, but I—"

"But you…what?"

"I see a future for us." Her face turned bright pink at his confession, "Wh-What?"

"I see a future for us, Artemis, I know we're still young and there's probably so much left to do, I mean we haven't saved Cass, or figured out why you can also control the rocks, and I want to know why you can use the incantations as well, and who knows whatever else we might face here in Corona, but I know that you're who I would choose to spend the rest of my life with, so I'm adding onto our promises, that if we both make it out of this alive…"

"V-Varian." The teens eyes were wide, "I can't ask that you spend the rest of your life with me just yet, when this is all over…what if I have no choice but to return to the Dark Kingdom with my father?"

"Then…I'll go with you."

"But your life is here, your dad…your lab."

"No, my life is anywhere you are. I don't need to stay in Corona to be happy."

"I…" she looked at his hands which now held her own, "Okay. I'll make that promise, Varian." The dark-haired boy was elated, pulling her in for a bear hug,

"My Happiness lies with you."
