Himura Kenshin was squatting in dirt while drawing circles with a stick. He brushed the dirt with his hand, causing small dust clouds to envelope his makeshift map. When it settled, there were only smudges where his marks had been. Starting again with a sigh, he glanced about, then completely turned around on his heels. "Okay, I am lost, that I am," he said to himself. Spinning around again, he drew another circle, then one where he assumed was about the proportionate distance to Tokyo. It looked just like his previous attempt, so he spun around again. "Okay, maybe it's this way?" he asked the sky, drawing lines between circles in hopes that he'd remember a path that would help him make the correct connections. No such luck came to him, so he began to spin again, causing a sudden sense of vertigo. "Uh oh," he muttered sharply before falling on his back. Despite the clear sky, he started seeing stars. "Oro?" The sound escaped him as he laid flat, spread-eagle, the face of him directed towards the heavens.
An eclipse faded over the stars. The haze in Kenshin's eyes started to clear, and he saw an outline of pink hovering over him with two glowing green circles towards the center. He blinked a few times until he recognized the young lady looming over him. "H~h~e~l~l~o," he shook out in a low voice, then cleared his throat. He tried to sit up, but fell back again. "Oro?" The shadow of a hand glided over his face. He felt a strange energy pulse out from it, then his head began to clear. The woman helped him sit up and held him there with one hand on his back as she crouched by him on one knee. Kenshin clenched his forehead for a second, then all the pain was gone. Shifting his gaze towards the woman, he shut his eyes with a smile. "Thank you, I was going in circles, that I was. Are you a doctor, um, Miss...?"
"Sakura," the girl said. She was watching him with a small warmth. Was she staring at his scar? If she had been, she quickly caught herself and looked him in his lavender eyes. "And yes, I am," she finally said.
"A pretty name for my pretty savior," Kenshin said. So, the source of that strange energy spike he felt earlier was called Sakura.
Sakura turned red. "Uh, I'm spoken for," she stammered out. Her eyes shifted towards the direction Kenshin had seen a strange male walk towards.
"Oh, don't be mistaken," Kenshin said, "I am far too old for you, that I am."
"You don't look very old," she nearly whispered.
"Looks can be deceiving, that they can. For instance, it appears to me like you are hiding a few things, that you are. Just what kind of doctor are you?"
Sakura tilted her head. "I am a chuunin of the Konohagakure," she said hesitantly.
Kenshin smiled at her honesty. "Never heard of the place."
"We like to keep it that way. For the most part."
"I see. And how far away from Tokyo is this Konohagakure, might I ask?"
"Never heard of the place, sorry."
Oh boy, Kenshin thought. He was royally lost, then. Placing a hand on one knee, he started to get up as the girl stood and stepped back.
Sakura glanced him over. "A samurai?"
Kenshin loosely placed his hand over the top of his sword hilt, as if to prevent it from drawing itself. "I am a simple wanderer, that I am. Nothing more."
