Author Notes: This is more of a continuation of Lord Quetzalcoatl and a little bit of Starrk's history that intertwine with one another.

Chapter 28: Wolves' Gonna Howl Alone

Some Eons After

Huitzilopochtli bowed before Quetzalcoatl and the other 12 Dio Hueco leaders.

"It will be some time before the Soul King that destroyed our clan will be born. The apes have transitioned from the Sahelanthropus tchadensis apes to the Australopithecus species into the Homo habilis, then Homo Erectus, followed by Homo heidelbergensis and the Homo neanderthalensis, who have discovered their ability to become Soul Reapers due to their connection with the dead.," he reported as he prostrated

"Excellent, it's been boring dispatching the Beasts of the Tiryagyoni-Realm and the Ashura of the Asura-Realm...Even our fellow Kami of the Deva Realm who come to our Ptera Realm because they view our desire to transcend the Six Realms as blasphemy and heresy.," Tezcatlipoca said, which Huitzilopochtli ignored, much to the former's annoyance.

"You were the patron idol worshipped by our people, and a fellow kinsman amongst our pantheon. There is no need to bow your head.," Quetzalcoatl said, causing the scarf wearing warrior to change his position into a respectful kneeling, much to the others' bewilderment.

"Let's talk to them. We've been killing far too much lately. Especially with the Dinosaurs millions of years ago.," said the white skinned Dio Hueco before he noticed a white dual horned Vasto Lorde with slit pupil green iris eyes, black wings and a mask with no mouth. He was extremely thin.

"Ignore it. It's just a flawed prototype.," Tezcatlipoca noted.

"It might become one of the strongest one day. It's not wise to underestimate potential.," Quetzalcoatl retorted as he pointed the bat like Hollow towards a cluster of diamond like trees in order to pierce its mask.

A short while later

Quetzalcoatl and the other Dio Hueco met with the first generation Soul Reapers, Neanderthals cloaked in hooded animal furs of purples, reds, blues, browns, yellows, etc. They had an exterior of human skeletal structures to hide their human flesh and wore skulls of men as a token of respect of inheriting their predecessors' strength mammoths, deer, bears, saber-toothed cats, cave lions, cave hyenas, artificially horned wooly rhinoceroses, rare wooly hippopotamuses and dire wolves as a show of victory over their hunts. The head one had a heavily scarred human skull helmet with an ornate crown of stone over it. He wielded a gigantic scythe, sheathed on his back.

"Had this been the Quincy, you wouldn't be getting this meeting. They'd kill you on sight for being heretics to the gods.," noted the head Soul Reaper.

"We can stop the production of the mask wearing spirits to those who are especially fallen into despair and keep them isolated here...they can die of starvation even though this is a lush green land.," Quetzalcoatl suggested to the head Soul Reaper.

"Our lands are covered in ice and snow. It might become warmer centuries from now. Whatever soul becomes consumed by their attachments...are yours...just keep the population under control and out of our realm.," the head Soul Reaper complied.

They went for a handshake, but suddenly an orange flame shot out of the Dio Hueco side and shot the the head Soul Reaper who blocked it in time.

"Xiuhtecuhtli?!," Quetzalcoatl demanded his equally confused colleague who was as shocked at the development.

He looked at Tezcatlipoca, Mictlantecuhtli, Tonatiuh, Huitzilopochtli, etc- those who'd benefit from a treating gone wrong, especially Tezcatlipoca. However, all were stunned, but they had already planned to attack from the very beginning as did the Soul Reapers much to the Wind God's lament.

Damn, someone else must've wanted this to go badly. The Ashura wouldn't stoop to this, they're too proud. The other Petra would be sullen about the news of dying here a slow death, but merciful over being killed by Soul Reapers, Quincy, etc. The Beasts wouldn't be so indirect. The Kami would advocate for a truce for the sake of balance. The only ones left are the Naraka-, thought the white haired Dio Hueco.

"Damn it! We're played for fools!," he shouted as he was forced into turning into a duck billed masked giant serpent hollow with wings in order to stall the Soul Reapers and waste their stamina.

"Smith- Kagu-tsuchi!," said one of the Soul Reapers as he summoned a gigantic deity made of volcanic rock, sown together with eight stitches, a perpetually mad expression and a wild mass of red hair and a burnt haori.

He then struck the ground, creating iron coffins that emitted chains that pulled the Dio Hueco into them.

Quetzalcoatl attempted to blow the Soul Reaper group away when the head Soul Reaper declared as he drew out a katana,

"The end of spineless armors, The end of eldritch fish, the end of beast like dragons, the end of titanic behemoths, leading to the end of long winter- Cause Extinction- Kunitokotachi!," he said as his katana generated a bearded human deity with black sclera eyes with bronze pupils, a Jōmon style regal robes and seven celestal spheres hovered behind his back. It encased itself in a Dogū style armor and clasped its hands, creating a rock shell over the serpent in order to restrain him completely. Quetzalcoatl was then pulled into the sarcophagus.

"You're too dangerous to walk freely. Regardless, you keep these Ghouls from going wild and chaotic. They can worship you as unseen gods while you can emerge during short amounts of time several few centuries before you need to return to your caskets...as it will cause you to become dust if you remain too long outside.," the head Soul Reaper declared as he left, with the casket closing, leaving Quetzalcoatl in the darkness.

Thousands of Years Later

Quetzalcoatl awoke to see a robed skeleton along with similar robed skeletons with their horned humanoid Vasto Lorde attendants, looking startled to see these 14 beings awake. They also saw a black entity with cut-pie eyed pupils with pinkish-red irises wearing Yayoi era royal attire. Noticeably, he had a silhouette of a top hat with a single horn protruding from it and a wide grin of triangular teeth.

Soul Reapers...no, they're likely gone out of fashion for the sake of more...approachable looking agents of the afterlife...These are Vasto Lorde Rey (Highest Great Hollow King)- Grand Petra 3.5...and the thing behind them is..., thought the white haired Dio Hueco.

"So the Soul King was born and overthrew the Kami of his region along with his three comrades with their respective Kamis...and he himself and his quartet were later mutilated by his ungrateful monster of a son...who killed his own mother for being an Akuma, and caused his own brother to become mute, deaf, paralyzed in exchange for a vampiric soul draining of his followers under the deception it was natural born disease and the draining was a cure...And you wiped out the old Quincy and Soul Reaper orders in order to establish your own...Abeseimei...No, Temps (Time), your name after sealing your soul to the Akuma in order to gain the powers to overthrow your own kin. And you sent your other brother, a fool's errand by eliminating "Hollows" in hell, believing them to be hell-spawn creations in hopes of making world peace, when they're actually our project and Akuma definitely exist, if not hiding in the shadows for now. Though you're also causing your fellow Akuma to be exorcised for a cowardly evasion of justice, " Quetzalcoatl said, before the black entity could explain, which earned a giggle from the latter. The clear lack of remorse disgusted all of the Dio Hueco.

"You former Kami are so omniscient. That takes care of some things...I want your help to weaken the Quincy...I already have plans into insert Imiter into their Zanpakuto to make them sleeper agents and limiters to their powers...as well as making them forget the powers of their Rei-ken and other abilities while my shit brother, Abe no Ashi is away on a goose chase. Let's cut to the chase, I'm planning on limiting and remodeling the Quincy moveset to be more manageable and make them look terrible in the eyes of the public, turning their targets from Akuma to Hollows, the latter of which, are not supposed to kill as they upset the balance...maybe leading to an extermination.," he said with a vain, high-pitched tone of irreverence as he laid back against the ruins of the Dio Hueco temple's pillar.

"Soul Reapers are a threat to us, but to do that to a Quincy-," Quetzalcoatl snapped before Tezcatlipoca spoke in his place.

"Killing two birds with one stone. What do you want in exchange...?"

"If my shit brother manages to get wise to my schemes and send me to hell...you bring me back so I slowly bring back my other piss-ant brother, Abe no Juha, as a scapegoat should the Soul Reapers defeat his merry band of Quincy...and I can set myself up as the God Emperor of the Soul Society!...and I can find the device from a Soul Reaper that might be born in the future so you can become perfect and don't have to worry about remaining in a casket.," Temps said as he offered a handshake with a silver gloved hand, grinning like a lunatic.

"You'll toss us out like garbage once we've outlived our usefulness. Begone-," Quetzalcoatl said before Tezcatlipoca shook the Akuma's hand.

"I'll hook you up with the Hogyokū...err...Jinn when someone manages to create it.," Temps explained as he vanished in black vortex.

"...," Quetzalcoatl said nothing as Tezcatlipoca gave a crown to a prominent Vasto Lorde Rey with purple robes, an ornate crown.

"He'll run things while experiment with the Hollows in order to create Dio Hueco...Xipe-Totec...invade the Soul Society and cause some trouble...," Tezcatlipoca said as the bloated faced Dio Hueco entered a Garganta.

"What's wrong? Snake got your tongue-," the tightly robbed figure asked before he was slammed against the side of one of the temple walls.

"We needed to become free of our curse. That was our goal. When did we need to rob those not even involved with our quest of their birthright?!," he asked violently.

Tezcatlipoca responded by punching him in the gut, causing the white haired Dio Hueco to lose a physical confrontation for the first time since their rivalry began.

As Tezcatlipoca rubbed his knuckle, he said as he looked down on his bent over colleague,

"You haven't been eating...that's why your week? Are you not willing to sacrifice these slaves as well?"

"Some of them I can actually talk to. About things not involving conspiracies and plotting. Something that you wouldn't understand.," Quetzalcoatl replied.

A Few Hundred Years Later

"I awake yet...I feel...Who killed Xipe-Totec?! I shalt put an end to their life! For it was not a fair way to be ended- reduced to a single arm attached to a soul through the cycle of reincarnation!," Huitzilopochtli snarled as he awoke from his sarcophagus along with the others.

The others weren't actually empathetic about their missing colleague with the exception of Quetzalcoatl.

"More importantly...with him gone, it turns out he was regulating the seasons here...and it's now...," Xiuhtecuhtli said as he pointed to outside the temple.

It was now a vacant desert with various trees made of quartz and a perpetual crescent moon.

"Tonatiuh's not feeling up to it now that Xipe-Totec has died...We're going to have to deal with it...," Tlaloc remarked.

"...I thought this was all so we could all be freed from our curse...What were you trying to do?," Quetzalcoatl asked, noticeably thinner than before.

"Trying to set up more territory to conquer, kill that Soul Emperor brat, and force the captive Soul Reapers to make the Jinn manifest...as for the Quincy...we'd have an army of converted Hollows to deal with them..he got careless..," Tezcatlipoca replied nonchalantly.

"So the deal was a lie...we went through with it and it was all just for more territory...you should like a conquistador.," Quetzalcoatl said with increasing anger.

"You've always been soft. It's that softness that led to father, mother and other's deaths.," Tezcatlipoca said coldly.

This caused Quetzalcoatl to lunge at Tezcatlipoca, but stopped midway as he collapsed from starvation.

"Stop this insolence. Eat something or else you'll die-," Tezcatlipoca said with concern before Quetzalcoatl arose.

"We should've died with our universe!," Quetzalcoatl replied coldly as he left the temple, not intending to return.

"What are you doing Huitzilopochtli. Make sure this God King falls in line and knows his place.," Tezcatlipoca commanded Huitzilopochtli, with a narrow glare of killing intent.

"Oh, some Hollows have discovered a way to break their masks to become something... A Running Car...what's a car?." Metztli reported as she overheard some Vasto Lorde women reporting.

"Arrancar?...This puts the Dio Hueco evolutionary goal in jeopardy if they find an alternative path?! Damnit!," Tezcatlipoca shouted.

Elsewhere in the Hollow Desert

Quetzalcoatl walked for what seemed like an eternity.

...My friends all died back there...everyone left has forgotten their way...at least I can make new-, he thought as he saw some Hollows.

He tried to get close to them, but they just died...from being in contact from his now uncontrollable Reiatsu.

Quetzalcoatl then collapsed in despair.

I don't want to be alone. I don't want to be alone. I don't want to be alone. I DON'T WANT TO BE ALONE! I'M LONELY! LONELY! LONELY! LONELY! LONELY! ALONE! ALONE! ALONE! ALONE!, he thought repeatedly as the culmination of his guilt came crashing down. His inability to stop his people from being slaughtered. The death of his family. The destruction of his universe! Being unable to stop his colleagues from turning innocents into monsters! Making a deal with a devil! Preventing a war between the Soul Reapers! Being unable to save Xipe-Totec! Being unable to reason with his fellow Dio Hueco!

He then felt a headache as he fell unconscious as he felt like he was going to be seeing in two different perspectives.

30 minutes later...

He awoke...except it felt like he was just born again...with no knowledge of what he was.

He used to be passionate about something, but it didn't matter.

He then saw something else on the right side of his being, he then noticed a parrot like Hollow about to eat it.

Instinctively, he grabbed it and tried to run away, but it was able to fly in his direction and kick him to the side.

I was just born. Why do I have to fight with a strong guy like this? Why?! Why is this happening to me?! What am I?!, thought the new being as his Reiatsu flared up, causing the parrot Hollow to die instantly.

The thing in his arms awoke, it was little girl with a horned mask with a flame mark, light green hair and pink iris eyes.

In her reflection, he saw that he had dark brown hair, gray-bluish eyes and a goatee, he looked like a normal...human...why would he think this?

For now, the two turned to parrot's feathers into cloaks to cover their bodies.

The individual noted that the girl was more expressive than himself...like whatever she had been previously- it had been the dominant personality trait.

Maybe he was also- no, it was ridiculous at the moment.

Gradually through vague dreams of a lush jungle, flying angels, a god with eyes in his hands, skeletal warriors, a top hat wearing shadow, and vague silhouettes of what appeared to be those close to him... he realized.

I'm a Hollowed out self of whatever was causing the dreams along with the girl.

He tried to contact with other Hollows, they either died or ran away from the potential threat of the rumored Hollow capable of killing just from his presence alone.

As the centuries passed on by, he thought this...

I always envied the weak.... Whenever we made friends, their souls would waste away just from being near us...if not they had different enough beliefs that we couldn't truly connect. Because we were so alone, we split our soul in two from the despair of isolation in spite of being in the company of our last remaining colleagues. I don't know which was our original form. Or perhaps, it was neither. But this was the only way we had to escape from our isolation...our loneliness. I so envied the weak. The weak can always find others to be around. I want to be weak. And if that's impossible, I at least want to find companions who are as strong as I...

As he lived, he came to know of the tale of the Hollow God slain by the legendary Soul Reaper, Ashiyama Abe Kurosaki, which caused the Hollows to no longer fear the so called immortal Dio Hueco with the very God King they had installed as their puppet, Baraggan Louisenbairn, decided to drive them into the outskirts of his kingdom by taking advantage of their weakened state just before getting into their sarcophaguses.

He came to know of the six Hollow types- the regular Hollows, the Gillian, the Adjuchas, Vasto Lorde, Vasto Lorde Rey and the Dio Hueco. Of these, the sixth was the rarest and near extinction.

He saw a 11 foot tall humanoid with a green flattop and scarf around his neck who noticed him.

"Lord Quetzalcoatl the Plumed Serpent! You're much smaller with a little...no it's not possible...how hath this occurred?," he asked with a startled expression on his face.

"Quetzalcoatl? I'm no snake...I'm more of lone wolf...sounds too generic...need something starkly different like a...coyote...," said the individual as he lazily noticed a coyote type Hollow.

"Coyote Starrk...and Lilynette Gingerback...," he concluded lazily.

"Don't give that sort of name! Barragan's a tyrant! Why don't you lead them?!," she asked.

"Yes! Lead them to conquer the worlds and rule over it as gods...wait that passion sounds like...!," Huitzilopochtli suggested before coming to the realization.

"I'll say you're dead...those eyes...they lack the passion that stood up to Lord Tezcatlipoca...and the passion is in a vessel unable to carry through with its wishes...Master Quetzalcoatl is dead...," he said as he walked away.

"Sounded like he knew us...what's a Quetzalcoatl?," Lilynette asked.

"Sounds like bad memories not worth remembering...I wonder if Barragan would be a friend...," Coyote wondered.

He came across several individuals who replied negatively to his request to various extents.

"You are an insolent servant, not an equal.," Barragan, the skeletal Vasto Lorde Rey proclaimed.

"I like lab experiments. Not companionship.," replied a pink themed, butterfly-angel-esque Hollow named Szayelaporro Granz.

"I'm mediating. Leave me be.," said Zommari Rureaux, a multi-eyed idol shaped Hollow as he sat in a temple once belonging to one of the Dio Hueco.

"Die! You're stronger than me?! I'll kill you!," shouted Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez, a white panther Hollow as he lunged at Starrk.

"I have no heart for companionship. You remind me of someone I met long ago, but I prefer isolation.," said Ulquiorra Cifer, a slender, yet fairly muscular, male Arrancar of average height with a melancholic appearance. He had fairly short, messy black hair, pale white skin, a black upper lip, and green eyes with small slit-shaped pupils, similar to a cat's. Part of his bangs fell between his eyes, and he had distinctively thick eyebrows. He had teal lines which descend from the lower part of his eyes. His facial expression rarely changed, though he was almost always frowning. Hollow hole is located on his sternum and the remainder of his Hollow mask lies on the top-left side of his head, forming a broken horned helmet. He wore a tattered cloak.

"You're stronger than me?! No, I'm strongest!," said Nnoitra Gilga, a multiple armed transitional Adjuchas-Vasto Lorde mantis humanoid with crescent horns emerging from his forehead. He lunged at Starrk with the intent to kill.

"I would normally, but they hate you.," Tier Harribel, a female shark-like Vasto Lorde with olive skin around her eyes, a large sword like weapon on her right hand, enlarged spikes on her shoulders, long white go-go boots, a blue skin texture around her bosom, right upper arm and midriff; a long white ponytail extension shaped like a shark fin,, and a jagged hollow mask. She pointed to the lion, snake and deer Adjuchas behind her, snarling at Starrk.

"I'm so sorry...I have to save the innocent.," Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck, a centaur Vasto Lorde with long green hair, a red mark across her nose and a green skin texture for her midriff and a four legged greenish-gray ibex lower torso. She ran across to stop a predatory weasel like Hollow from attacking some Arrancar children.

"Your power will be mine!," yelled the dual Aaroniero Arruruerie, with two skull faces in the middle of a purple, magenta eyed octopus Gillian-Adjuchas transitional Hollow with a massive grin with yellow teeth as he tried to eat Starrk.

"Hey, you're not like trash like everyone else. Let me accompany you?," suggested Yammy Llargo a massive Adjuchas with two massive horns on his back. He had multiple horns on his head, with some covering his lower jaw, and crack-like markings frame his eyes. His arms were positioned in knuckle-walk position, and his body was hairy, ending in short, stubby toes, giving him an ape-like appearance with a long hairy and ape-like tail.

"No.," said a tired Starrk, much to Yammy's confusion and disappointment.

Years later, Aizen appeared, managed to get his loyalty and joined his army.

All while, far above, Tonatiuh subconscious manifestation of a sun with his face looked down on the events.

Tonatiuh then looked at the audience.

The bull fish hybrid then dissipated as Kazui's class landed on the ground.

"And that's how we went from a jungle to a desert of masked experiments and how Quetzalcoatl became a gun towing wolf man.," he said.

"The hell's he on about...also oh crud!," Ichika yelped.
