Chapter 14: Leave Her Behind
Merida's POV
I looked out at the ocean to see the sunrise. It was the most beautiful sight I have seen, so every morning, I would wake up, walk to the beach and watch the sunrise.
After the incident, the berserkers and the defenders quickly packed up their belongings together. Mala wanted to get back to their island as soon as possible.
The Outcasts, Alvin's people, had decided to stay in this new world. Alvin would return with us to be taken to the prison in Outcast Island.
One of the outcasts gave us a ship to sail back to Berk with. Hiccup, Jack and Anna went to work, making it a transport. By adding retractable landing gear, and perches for the Monstrous Nightmares to land if they get tired.
I heard someone behind me. I looked to see Elsa walk up.
"Can't sleep?" she asked as she sat beside me.
"No. I wake up this early to watch the sunset."
She nodded. "It's my favorite part of this land. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking."
"Yep," I said with a smile.
We watched the waves in silence, waiting for the sun to rise.
"How's the wound?" I asked.
She smiled. "Honestly, I haven't noticed it. The magic of the flower made it as if it wasn't there."
"I wish I felt the same."
She looked at me. "Why?"
"Where Rapunzel healed me, it just feels weird. Like, somethings not right."
Elsa nodded. "I felt the same. It'll pass."
"Good."
We continued to look at the distance ahead. The light from the sun started to show.
"Are you ready to go home?" Elsa asked.
"I don't know. It's been four years. One, sailing the ocean on the other side of this land. Three, crossing this land."
"Yeah. Everyone at home has probably moved on. They probably think we died." Elsa said.
I nodded. "Let's hope they remember us."
Just then, the sun peeked up from the ocean, causing the sun to light up the sky, turning the clouds a shade of orange.
"Wow," Elsa whispered.
We just watched the sunrise above the water. Then we heard a noise behind us. We looked to see Hiccup.
"It's time. "
We both got up and walked back to the village.
…
General POV
Soon, the ships were ready and the people started to board.
The Six looked to Pocan, who lead them across the land. Tears started to shed as each of them said goodbye.
Hiccup walked up to him. "I consider you a member of the Six. As one of us."
Pocan brought his fist to his chest. "I'm honored."
Hiccup smiled then hugged him.
"Goodbye, brother."
He let go and walked to the new transport.
Merida walked up to him and hugged him.
"Take care of yourself."
Pocan nodded. "I will."
Merida gave him a quick peck on the cheek and walked towards the transport.
Elsa walked up and hugged him tightly.
"Thank you, for everything."
"Your welcome."
She let go and walked to the transport.
Rapunzel walked up and started sobbing. Pocan quickly grabbed her and held her tightly.
"I'm not ready to say goodbye," Rapunzel said while sobbing.
"I know."
He waited until Rapunzel calmed down, then he let her go. She wiped her eyes and grabbed his hands.
"Come with us."
Pocan shook his head. "My home is here."
She nodded and hugged him again. "You are my brother. If you ever come to our land, you are welcome in my home. Always."
Pocan wiped a tear away. "Thank you."
Rapunzel finally let him go and walked the transport.
Anna walked up to Pocan.
"Are you going to be ok?"
Pocan smiled. "Don't worry about me."
"Where will you go?"
"Potwa has agreed to let me stay with his people."
Anna smiled and hugged him. "Goodbye, my dear friend."
Pocan hugged her tightly. "Goodbye."
Anna wiped some tears away and walked to the transport.
Jack finally walked forward. He looked Pocan in the eye.
"I'm sorry. For judging you or your people. I see I was wrong."
Jack extended his hand. Pocan just hugged him.
"All is forgiven, brother."
Jack smiled and patted his shoulder.
"Goodbye."
Jack then joined the others at the transport.
The six walked onto their new transport. Hiccup whistled for the four dragons. Surge, Dragonroar, Trace, and Blizzard flew over and landed on their perches. The team got them hooked up to their harnesses and ready to go.
Grunt and Snare flew over. Grunt looked sad to leave. Hiccup smiled and walked up to the young gronkle.
"You belong to him. Go."
Grunt smiled and growled happily as he flew back to Pocan.
"He's yours, Pocan."
Pocan smiled and started giving Grunt a scratch on his head.
"Cast off!" Mala shouted.
"Set sail for the Kingdoms!" Dagur shouted.
All the boats unleashed their sails. Just then, a strong wind blew and pushed the boats forward into the ocean.
Everyone waved goodbye as they sailed away. Bersi, with a tear in his eye, grabbed his helmet and put it over his heart.
I thought I heard the Old Man say:
"Leave her, Johnny, leave her."
Tomorrow you will get your pay,
And it's time for us to leave her.
When the crews heard Bersi started to sing, the sang along with him.
Leave her, Johnny, leave her!
Oh, leave her, Johnny, leave her!
For the voyage is long and the winds don't blow
And it's time for us to leave her.
Oh, the wind was foul and the sea ran high.
"Leave her, Johnny, leave her!"
She shipped it green and none went by.
And it's time for us to leave her.
Leave her, Johnny, leave her!
Oh, leave her, Johnny, leave her!
For the voyage is long and the winds don't blow
And it's time for us to leave her.
Just then Hiccup looked back at the land and sang a bit
I hate to sail from this pretty jewel,
"Leave her, Johnny, leave her!"
From the rolling plains to the shining seas
And it's time for us to leave her.
Leave her, Johnny, leave her!
Oh, leave her, Johnny, leave her!
For the voyage is long and the winds don't blow
And it's time for us to leave her.
Then they all sang the last part of the shanty together,
We swear by rote for want of more.
"Leave her, Johnny, leave her!"
But now we're through so we'll go on home.
And it's time for us to leave her.
Leave her, Johnny, leave her!
Oh, leave her, Johnny, leave her!
For the voyage is long and the winds don't blow
And it's time for us to leave her.
…
Hiccup's POV
I stood on the upper deck of the new transport. I felt the waves hitting against the boat from my feet. I looked at the horizon.
It was the middle of the night. Once the new land was out of sight, we felt a familiar presence take hold of the transport and started to guide us and the others home.
I felt a familiar presence come from behind. She wrapped her arms around me.
"Coin for your thoughts, lover."
I chuckled, "Not much for a coin's worth."
Merida turned me to her. "Then tell me anyway."
I leaned against the rail. "It's what Alvin said. About this Zika. I'm not comfortable with the Courts of Darkness still active. I just hope they haven't caused too much damage."
Merida leaned next to me. "If they have, we'll stop them. Just like we stopped Pitch, and Gothel, and Drago, and Cyprus and any other power-hungry madmen we've faced."
"True. But I worry. When we get back, will it be to stop someone, or to undo what has already happened?"
And with that, This part of the Story is concluded.
I will be putting an epilogue to explain what has been happened in the Kingdoms since the Six left.
The Song Used in this Chapter is Leave her Johnny by Sean Dagher, a few added lyrics by myself.
Thanks for Reading. Please Review. The Epilogue will be here soon.
