Chapter 35: Break is Over
Agnes looked up at the sight and said "Oh. So, that's what Mr. Irving meant."
Timmy nodded while Vanessa said "Uh-huh."
Aaron commented "Looks like someone strayed off the path."
Alexander wondered "How did this little girl get all the way in here?"
Victoria retorted "Can someone get me down instead of being the peanut gallery?"
Aaron frowned as he remarked "For a little girl, you sure have a sharp mouth."
Vanessa moved towards the front of the group then asked, "What are you doing here?"
Victoria widened her eyes in shock then exclaimed, "I should be asking you the same thing!"
Vanessa's team members began to look at her with expressions that read what did you do to her?
Victoria continued to yell "Anyways, it doesn't concern you all!"
Irritated, Vanessa pulled her phone out of her pocket and started calling Queenie.
Victoria asked with a scared tone "Who...Who are you calling?"
"You should know who I'm calling, young lady." Vanessa imitated her cousin's firm tone as she spoke.
"No, no, no, no. Please don't call Queenie." Victoria begged.
"Um… Well, you're not supposed to be here."
Finally, Vanessa could hear a voice on the phone saying "Hello?"
Vanessa explained to Queenie that the girl she was with the other day was at the greenhouse.
Queenie replied "Ok, I will be right there. Keep an eye on that girl for me, Vanessa."
"Ok… But she won't be going anywhere for a while."
Vanessa turned to her roommate and said "Well… If we do that, I'm afraid she's going to go exploring again."
Alexander tried to help pull Victoria down but when he touched the vine, in the blink of an eye, the vine wrapped around his feet and pulled him upside down.
Victoria who was annoyed and not feeling well because the blood was rushing to her head said "Oh, so that's why you didn't help me. You couldn't even save yourself."
Suddenly, Mr. Irving walked over and said in a monotone voice "I see someone forgot the rules."
The entire group chimed in unison "Mr. Irving!"
Agnes asked "Mr. Irving, how do we get them down?"
"You don't have to. When the scavenger hunt is over, they'll be released. In the meantime, let's get back to plant hunting people!" He clapped his hands.
When Mr. Irving left the group, the vines holding Alexander and Victoria extended and moved in his direction.
Vanessa gasped "We forgot to get the Fork Leaf!"
"No worries Vanessa." said Timmy who was holding the Fork Leaf in his left hand while his book was floating above his right palm, smiling.
The group continued looking for the other plants on their scavenger hunt until it was time for the class to gather together. Surprisingly, along the way, Aaron acted more pleasant until he saw Alexander hanging from his feet then he rudely remarked, "What's hanging Alex?"
"Ha, ha, very funny. And it's Alexander to you, Aaron." Alexander sarcastically retorted. "Hello again ladies."
Timmy commented under his breath "What am I? Chopped liver?" He looked up then tapped Vanessa "Where's the blonde girl?"
"The blonde girl?" To her horror, the blonde girl was nowhere to be seen.
Mr. Irving noticed Vanessa's expression then walked towards her. "Is anything the matter?"
"Um. Mr. Irving, there was a blonde girl being held by the vines. Do you know where she is?"
"Who picked her up?" asked Agnes.
"My cousin."
Aaron commented "I hope we never see that brat again."
"Uh-huh." agreed Vanessa.
However, it seemed that Victoria popped up wherever Vanessa went. Vanessa and her class groups went through similar scenarios regarding Victoria sightings in the next few days.
Victoria would appear where Vanessa's class was. Queenie would eventually appear behind Victoria, spooking her charge and she would say, "Where do you think you're going young lady?" Then take Victoria away.
One occurrence went like this. When Vanessa and her friends were relaxing by the lake, Victoria emerged from underneath the lake water, scaring the living daylights out of Vanessa's group.
Queenie was standing on water and smirking?! Vanessa's group who had been annoyed at Victoria suddenly felt a little sorry for her.
Vanessa said, "This is the tenth time I've seen this happen."
Miranda replied "Yeah, your cousin sure is something else. Chasing after that girl everywhere she goes."
"She told me it was her job."
"Well, I hope she be getting paid well cause' that sucks."
"I think she likes what she's doing though because she likes catching people off guard."
Miranda made a weirded-out face "She really is something else."
While everyone headed back to their dorm room, Vanessa went to the library to get the books they need for their homework.
When Vanessa got inside the library, she began looking then suddenly… She heard a sound. Her phone vibrated but Vanessa didn't notice it because she muted her phone. Even though her mind was focused on looking for the right books, she could feel that there was something behind her.
The feeling got even stronger and stronger. She even began to see shadows appearing from behind. Vanessa decided to turn back, and flying books were right in front of her!
She let out a shocked "Ah!"
Vanessa backed up and hit the bookshelf behind her, causing some books, and her phone to fall down.
"Oh sh*t."
What a mess. The flying books moved towards her phone. The first thing Vanessa did was go down to her knees and whine "Oh no~. How am I supposed to clean this mess?"
She soon began picking up some books and stacking them. When she uncovered her phone, it was shining brightly and sucked her in!
Then the phone disappeared… After some time, the books began to stack themselves neatly back onto the shelves.
The phone reappeared in Room 708. Without anyone noticing, it flew over to Angel's side and sucked her in! "Ah-"
Somewhere, inside a quiet room, a girl was reading three books on magic. Suddenly, Vanessa's phone appeared in midair behind the girl's head and sucked her in! "What the!"
