A/N: WOW, it's been a minute, huh? I am so sorry for my major leave of absence on here, but I am so damn happy to be back and to have so much inspiration to write. I have been hopping back and forth between writing this, my other story Headlong Towards Disaster, and writing another Dawsey story that I found on my computer unfinished; I have cracked out 5 chapters for that story so far, so now that I am ahead on it I will likely upload it soon.

It's crazy that when I first took my hiatus this site was so full of Dawsey love and amazing stories, and now there is a major lack of Dawsey stories and other ships are moving in... but as long as I am here there will always be Dawsey stories to be told. Even if I do take major breaks in my writing I will always come back to this ship. I hope to see others do the same.

I have a couple of ideas left for this story and two different directions this could go; I could wrap it up over the next few chapters and complete it... or I have a few directions I am considering. Honestly, that is more up to all of you. I know I have been away for a long time, so I want to see how much interest is still here for this story. So please, review and let me know what you are all thinking.

You'll Get It And Be Gone has been a huge labor of love since the very beginning, and I am so happy to be able to update it again. Writing this chapter felt like coming home.

I own nothing; if I did Gabriella Dawson would be back in Chicago with her husband, Louie, and a baby or two... or ten...

Chapter 15: Come Around

Rosi Golan

So high tonight
And I don't feel like coming down
I could lie to you all my days
But you're the one, you're the one
And I'm a fool
For waiting so long to let you know

"Matt… baby…"

"Gabby…" He moans as she wraps her legs tighter around his waist taking them both over the edge as they collapse onto the bed in a heap of moans and pure satisfaction.

"God, I love you." He says breathlessly as he looks over at her lovingly, she takes a deep breath but the giggle that leaves her mouth has him smirking. It will never cease to amaze him how this girl can go from that, unbelievably sexy to the sweet and innocent, giggling girl beside him.

Though he knows innocent is a bit of a stretch, there is nothing innocent about what they'd just done or how she had just made him feel.

She rolls over into his arms and presses a sweet kiss to his lips before looking at the clock on his nightstand and groaning, "Ugh, can we stay here all day? No work."

"Gabby we've been hulled up in this bedroom for the better part of the past 48 hours." He laughs.

She cocks a challenging brow at him, "Are you complaining, Lieutenant?"

"God no." He murmurs pulling her down for another heated kiss that he knew would've lead to something more had she not pulled away. They only had a little over an hour till work and both needed showers and breakfast before then. "You're nervous." He states as he looks over her.

"What?" She asks shocked, "No! Why would I be nervous?"

He smiles reassuringly, "Gabby, the guys aren't going to think any differently of you. They all love you like a sister."

She sighs, somedays she hated how well he knew her. "I just… We haven't talked to any of them since Hallie showed up and we explained as much as we could. They never really got to react to it all last shift with us being so busy and I guess I'm scared of how they are going to be…"

"Baby, you have nothing to worry about…" He tries to reassure, but she is cutting him off.

"No Matt, I do. You're their Lieutenant, they all respect you and they've known you for years. They all love you. Ever since the guys have known you, you have been with Hallie. They liked her, and after her outburst last shift how do you think they are all looking at me? I'm just the whore that slept with the Lieutenant."

"Hey, don't. Don't say things like that because we both know they aren't true. Gabby, I love you, and I always have. Hallie and I are getting divorced. Our marriage has been over for a long time. It was over before you even came back to Chicago… The guys love you and they would never think of you like that." He hates how worried she is about this. He hates the way this all came out. Hallie should have never been in the firehouse that day and they could have just talked to everyone about being together on their own terms and maybe Gabby wouldn't have been so concerned about it. He understands her concerns though, and he wishes he could take them all away.

The truth is he hadn't even thought much about how this shift would go. He had been so consumed with Gabby during their days off that he hadn't given it much thought, but now that he was he really didn't think it would be too bad. 51 was their second family, sure there would be questions, but for anyone to actually be mad? He doubted that. Or at least he hoped.

"And besides... the guys never really liked Hallie. They tried not hurting my feelings, but they were all pretty obvious about it." He shakes his head, chuckling softly when she shoves him.

"That's not the point." She sighs but the smile is still on her face.

The teasing glint in his eyes lets her know she is in for it. He scouts closer to her and places a kiss on her bare shoulder. "You know…" He murmurs, his lips finding her neck and making her head fall back at the contact. "If you are this stressed about all of this I know a great way to distract you."

"Matt…" She mumbles weakly, "We have to be at work in an hour… and we need showers."

He is off the bed and has her scooped up on his arms before she can say anymore. "Matt!" She squeals, "What are you doing?"

He gives her a wide smirk before placing a kiss on her cheek as he takes off down the hall with her in his arms. "You said we needed a shower. "He whispers in her ear, making her shiver.

"Matt." She tries to protest, knowing they were going to be so late.

"I'm just conserving water, baby." He jokes, but once he has her in the shower and their bodies are pressed together she doesn't dare mutter a protest.

Come around, come around, come around, come around to me
There's something in between you and I
Come around, come around to me
You feel like breathing
Come around, come around, come around, come around to me

They walk into work side by side and Matt gives her one last reassuring look as the walk up the hanger and into the house, falling into the familiar roles of PIC and Lieutenant once again.

She manages to make it into the locker room, change into her work gear, and waste another 20 minutes on her phone alone before she knew it was time to face the music and head to the common room. It was already a miracle she had gotten away with avoiding everyone this long. She just hopes Matt is in the common room by now and she won't have to face them alone.

"There she is." Otis hollers and Gabby stops in the doorway of the common room, all eyes falling to her. She looks at Otis in confusion. Her hesitation written all over her face.

Otis holds up the plate he had been eating from. "Mills made that breakfast bake you love!" He answers excitedly, taking another hearty bite, typical Otis.

She can't help but smile at that and she heads straight for the counter to dish herself up some. "Peter Mills, you are the greatest." She exclaims after she had sat down and taken a bite, letting the delectable eggs bake melt in her mouth.

She catches Casey's smirk from across the table and feels herself blush with his intense gaze on her. How did he still do that? How did he make her feel like a teenage girl with her first crush after all these years?

"Where were you all weekend?" Shay exclaims, coming into the common room from the garage and plopping down into a seat next to Dawson. "I text you, even stopped by your place, but you weren't home."

Gabby gives her a look that Shay apparently doesn't understand because she is still sitting there expectantly. Gabby looks away, her clear discomfort now written on her face as she tells Shay as quietly as she can. "I uh, I stayed at Matt's this weekend." But in the quiet common room it was not quite enough and her comment catches many people's attention. The elephant in the room that had been avoided until now growing bigger.

"Oh," Shay says simply, realizing now why Gabby had not answered. She raises a brow at Gabby, her mouth opening in mild shock when she realizes.

Her best friend got laid. Hallelujah.

Gabby just shakes her head at Shay's obvious need for details, but thankfully she steered clear of the embarrassing question for now, but Dawson knew as soon as they were alone on the ambo, she would be grilling her for questions.

Just as she thinks that the bells go off, calling ambo alone.

Gabby can't decide if she is thankful or not for that. She isn't sure what is worse right now; Shay grilling her about her sex life or the awkward silence that had fallen over the common room.

Matt watches the girls rush off and sighs as he realizes the shift in the air since they overheard Dawson speak about staying with him.

Everyone in the room seems to be mulling over what to say, or if they should say anything at all to him. He decides to just bite the bullet and go for it, he hoped what he was about to do would take some of the pressure off of Gabby as well.

"Alright... ask away, what do you want to know?" He concedes, watching as all eyes turn to him, a muttered "Oh thank God." falling from Mouch's lips as he turns.

"So, you and Dawson?" Hermann asks quickly confusion still filling his features.

"Yes, Dawson and I are together." He clarifies.

"And you and Hailey; you're getting divorced?" He continues.

Matt nods. "Yep, signed the papers and sent them off a couple days ago. It will be final soon, but it has been over for some time now." He says truthfully.

Cruz finally interjects, nearly raising his hand out of excitement before earning a pointed look from the Lieutenant and dropping it. "I don't mean to pry, but I guess we are all wondering the same thing... What Hailey said, about you and Dawson, is any of it true?"

Matt sighed audibly, he hated that Hailey had come in here and made a scene and spoken before he and Gabby could to their family. But now was the time to get ahead of it. He wanted to set the record straight.

"Listen, guys, it's a long complicated story, but Hailey wasn't all wrong in what she said." He gets many raised brows in return and decides he just needs to continue and get it all out there. "I've known Gabby for a very long time; we met in college actually. Our past is complicated to say the least, and I made a lot of mistakes where she is concerned, ones that I regret." Casey looks around the room, noticing he has everyone's attention now, all of them completely tuned in to him.

"Dawson and I met in college and we fell for each other, fast... and I was an idiot and lied to her about Hailey. She broke things off and I stayed with Hailey. Gabby and I ended up getting back together a while later and were together for some time. We both knew it was wrong, but I felt stuck. Hailey had gone through a lot with her family and Gabby and me..." He trailed off. "I loved Gabby far more than I ever thought possible, but uh, Gabby she was pregnant." The look of shock on the men's faces would have been comical if Casey didn't already know how this story ends.

He does his best to push the emotions away when Capp asks in complete confusion. "You and Dawson have a kid?!"

Matt shakes his head and meets Hermann's eyes when he looks up, it was clear the older man knew where this was going and the solemn, but comforting look on his face pushed Matt forward.

"Gabby got pregnant and it was the push I needed. I knew what I wanted, and that was Gabby... but uh, she uh, we lost the baby. Gabby and I both were pretty lost after that. We weren't really sure where to go from there, how to move on. So, Gabby ended up leaving Chicago and that ended things for us. I stayed with Hailey after she left, we'd been together for almost 10 years at that point and honestly, I was too chicken shit to leave her or admit all that I had done."

Casey took a deep breath, forcing himself to finish this. Reliving it all was not something he was proud of, no matter how much he couldn't regret it because it brought her and Gabby together. "Gabby and I ran into each other only once when she was back in Chicago, two years after she had left, other than that we never spoke. We hadn't talked in years when she showed up here for her first day. There was a lot of history there and neither of us ever expected to see each other again. We tried to deny it, this thing between us, we really did. She pushed me away, rightfully so, but eventually there was no denying it and we ended up back together."

Matt can't help the little smile that forms when he thinks over finally having Gabby back in his arms after so many years apart. God, did he love that woman.

"Hailey and I were having issues well before Gabby ever showed up at 51, but Gabby was distant, I had hurt her a lot in the past and it took a lot for her to open up. When I went to leave Hailey, when Dawson and I decided to really make a go at this was when I had my accident and once again, we were held up, but after my accident Hailey and I talked... about everything. I told her all of what happened between Dawson and I. I completely came clean, and so did she. That's why-"

"Wait, so did she?" Otis asks, not missing that part.

"Hailey cheated on me, right after college, and again recently. She wasn't innocent in the matter and neither was I." He clarifies. "But anyway, that's why I left for a while. I needed time to clear my head. To figure out how life had gotten so complicated. Hailey cheating wasn't the real blow, but finding out I stayed with her after Dawson lost the baby and she was cheating anyways was rough." Matt shakes his head, refusing to let himself fall back into all the feelings he had worked through while away.

"Listen, like I said, we have a complicated past... but Dawson, she went through a lot with me. I put her through a hell of a lot more than she ever deserved. I know what we did, cheating, it was wrong, but we just loved each other too much to see clearly through anything. We are finally seeing clearly now, and we want this to work. I'm sorry we lied and hid things from you guys. We just, we didn't know what to say, and Gabby was terrified of how you would look at her, she still is. I know that she knows this is her family, but ever since last shift, it is like she sees herself as an outsider here. Like this is my house since I have been here longer and you guys are looking at her with a scarlet A on her chest."

The guys all shake their heads, not sure what to do with the amount of information they had just gotten. Matt is thankful when Kelly finally speaks up breaking the ice on behalf of all the guys.

"Casey, we love you and Dawson both, as long as you two are happy, we are happy." He says reassuringly.

Hermann quickly interjects, "Agreed, and if Dawson is feeling lost, or unwelcome for any reason because of all this, just know she doesn't need to be... and we will do whatever we can to remedy that situation, Lieutenant."

Otis and Cruz nod to agree, but it's Mouch that speaks up next. "Yeah, that's our girl, no matter what. We will make sure she knows it."

Like sunlight won't you come
Lay your ray down, you're the one
I could run, I could run for the life of me
But where would that get me?
Where would that lead?

"I can't believe how well the guys took everything." Gabby wonders. Leaning her head into Matt's shoulder as they walk the streets. The had done some light shopping after shift and were now wandering aimlessly, enjoying a quiet Tuesday afternoon together.

Matt nods, he hadn't told Gabby yet that he had spoken with them when she and Shay were on a call. "Yeah well, I may have a confession to make."

Gabby stops walking and turns to look at him, "Okay..."

"I may have talked to them after you and Shay went on that first call." Her brown eyes widen in shock. "Hear me out, it was obvious there was an awkward silence in the air around it, and I decided to just lay it out there. I told them the truth, and they were excepting. They are happy for us Gabby."

Gabby sits silently for a moment. "So that's why they didn't make me elaborate on anything isn't it?"

Matt nods smirking. "Thank you." Gabby gushes softly, "I know I wanted them to know everything, but I don't know that I could have gotten through that conversation."

Matt squeezes her shoulders before kissing her head and turning them to walk again, this time throwing an arm over her shoulder and tucking her into his side as they moved. "Anything for you."

They walk another couple of blocks and are about to turn back for the car when someone catches Gabby's eyes. Shit.

"Oh, God." Matt looks at Gabby in confusion, her body stiffening and taking him off guard.

"What?"

"Hey, Gabs. Casey." Matt turns to the voice to find Antonio Dawson looking them over, a protective look on his face.

Gabby pulls from Matt's arms, leaning to give her brother a quick kiss on the cheek. "Hey, Tonio."

Matt notices the tense air between the brother and sister and places a soft kiss on Gabby's head. "I'll give you two a minute." He says moving away from the two.

Antonio gives his sister a look. "So, you are back with him? After everything he has put you through?" Gabby scuffs, Antonio only knew about her and Matt's past when they were in college, he wasn't aware of anything from the past couple years. Gabby knew though he didn't know Matt, he blamed him for Gabby being away for so many years. Before she can interject Antonio continues. "So, when can I plan for you to be moving again? Huh, when am I losing my baby sister again?" He asks hotly.

"Antonio stop it. This is different. They're getting a divorce." It's Antonio's turn to scuff this time. "The papers are already signed Tonio. This is happening. Casey and I are together, openly." She shoots back.

"Listen, I know you went through a lot with me back then, I know you blame him for me leaving and not being around. I get it, I do. But I love him Antonio, more than anything. We are really wanting to make a go at it and are fighting for us this time. He's it for me, he always has been."

Antonio can't deny that love in his little sister's eyes and it was clear no matter what he said it would fall on loved up, but deaf ears.

Antonio shakes his head, finally conceding. "Okay." He says simply. "But I swear to God Gabriella if he hurts you again, I will kill him."

"Wouldn't have it any other way brother. I love you."

"I love you too, now come on, formally introduce me to this guy that gives you that look in your eyes."

I'm a fool
For waiting so long

Gabby sits on the couch and pulls more items from the box sat in front of her. She pulls a couple of blankets out along with pictures trinkets, setting them down on the coffee table.

She was helping Matt unpack some of the left-over boxes from his move into his new place only a few weeks ago. While all the big items and essentials had been unboxed immediately, Matt had left his more personal items and décor for last. The boxes had finally started to drive Dawson crazy enough every time she was over that she had convinced him they would take their next day off to go through them and get the cluttered boxes out of his house.

Matt comes down the stairs with a stack of broken-down boxes and sets them down in the entryway, he would need to take them out later.

"Well upstairs is done." Matt takes a look around only finding the box Gabby has in front of her along with two other left by her side. "And it looks like you've nearly tackled this part without me." He grins.

Dawson shrugs, trying to downplay his comment. "I told you, you could wait for me babe, you didn't have to do all this work by yourself."

"And I told you the boxes were driving me crazy." She simply states earning a laugh from the blonde man.

"Fair enough." He counters, taking a seat beside her on the couch and pulling one of the remaining boxes to his feet to open.

He pulls the tape and peeks inside; he knows what's in this box right as he opens it. There is a couple of throw pillows, a blanket for the couch, and underneath he knows rests the box that he holds dearest to his heart. His Gabby box.

He looks over at the girl beside him and smiles when he takes her in. She is the love of his life, he doesn't doubt it for a second, and she takes his breath away every time he looks at her. Even now in her yoga pants and his gray CFD t-shirt that overtook her small frame, her hair up in a messy bun and her face void of any makeup... beautiful.

She has just pulled the last of his items from the box and breaks it down, setting it by the rest before wandering around the living room and taking it amongst herself to find homes for the few pictures she pulled from the box.

There is one of him and his niece that she puts on his bookshelf along with one of him as a candidate with his original 51 group. There is a picture of him being pinned as Lieutenant that she puts on the mantle and a firefighter figurine she places beside it. She throws the blanket over the back of the couch and it's then she notices Matt staring at her.

She stops and her face screws up in confusion. "What?"

He can't help his beaming smile, but he grabs her hand and pulls her down onto his lap so she sits straddling him. His hands immediately moving to her hips. "Nothing, I just love you."

Gabby softens at his words, a hum of happiness leaving her lips as she leans forward and presses a light kiss to his pink lips. "I love you too."

His hands run up and down her side sending shivers through her body. She leans forward, wrapping her arms around him and resting her head in the crook of his neck as they hug each other close, just breathing the other in and enjoying the peace they felt when in the others embrace.

"I want to show you something," Matt says, and Gabby pulls away and sits beside him as Matt leans into the box and pulls out what he'd been looking at before.

When he sets the fairly hefty box on the table Gabby looks confused, it's not until the lid is pulled off that tears well in her eyes and a gentle smile plays on her lips. He had told her that Hailey found the items he had kept from her and it is what prompted their fight that had him telling her everything.

She, of course, believed him, but seeing it, knowing for sure it existed and he had kept these items just as she had was something else. It was everything.

Gabby leans forward and peers into the box, there are things in there that hold amazing memories and things that hold some of her most difficult, but all in all, it's her and Matt. It's their love story, every good and bad piece of it brought them to who they are today.

She pulls out a ticket from the drive-in theater they had gone to years ago. There's a group photo of them from a 51 barbecue and she smiles brightly at it, she had barely been at 51 for 3 months at this point, she had forgotten this picture was taken. She and Matt were beside each other, smashed in between Shay and Kellie both with cheesy smiles on their faces. They looked happy, even then.

She finds a traffic ticket in the box and bursts out laughing, Matt following suite when he sees what has caught her eyes. It was only 8 months ago that he had gotten this, they had been on their way back from their favorite coffee shop, Matt was going to drop Gabby back off at her car that was still parked at 51 and then they were heading to her place. Too much teasing on her end had Matt parking the vehicle on the side of the road and pulling her into his lap and having his way with her. They were thankfully decent when the cop pulled up and Matt had talked his way into a warning instead of a ticket when the police officer had caught sight of him still in his work gear. Telling the Lieutenant not to let it happen again.

The smile on her face had Matt beaming back at her. They had so many memories together, so many amazing memories.

They continued looking through the box and its contents when Gabby spots the note she left him in the hotel what seems like a lifetime ago and her breath catches.

They sit in silence for a minute, both taking in the weight of that small piece of paper and the words written on it.

"Why did you leave?" Matt whispers, not able to hold it in, "That morning... After the night we had, after the talk... why did you go?" There is no malice in his voice, but Gabby can still hear the hurt that is there.

"Haley called looking for you." She says simply, her voice rough with emotion. "I answered, thinking it was mine and when I heard her voice it just... it hit me again that you were engaged, you had a life that wasn't with me, and I... I didn't think I could compete with that." Casey's eyes water at her words.

There was never a competition to be had.

"I couldn't bare another goodbye with you. I couldn't look in your eyes again and tell you goodbye, I would have never left if I had to do that again. So, I wrote the note, and I left."

Matt nods, he had known the majority of this, but hearing her say it all was a new level of emotion he hadn't yet visited. "Leaving you, it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do Matt, but I always went back to leaving you before you could leave me. As hard as walking away from you was, watching you walk away from me would have been ten times worse. Everything about us back then was so out of my control and I guess that was the one thing I knew I had control over. Leaving you before you could leave me was the only thing, I could control about us and that a hard thing to come to terms with."

He pulls her to him, letting the note fall back into the box and forgetting the contents that were littered across the table.

"I'm not going anywhere. It's you and me, it's our time now. It should have been our time back then, and I am so, so sorry it never was, Gabby." He clutches her to him, needing to hold her and calm his racing mind, needing her nearness to remind him that this was different. They weren't going anywhere. They were together for the long haul now. They weren't the same people they were back then. They were stronger, better, and there was nothing standing in their way.

He feels Gabby nod against his chest, clutching herself to him and feeling the peace wash over her once again from being in his strong embrace.

When she pulls away her lips press to his in a needy kiss. "I love you." She whimpers, their kiss quickly becoming desperate.

Matt lifts her up with him, kissing her back with just as much furry, "I love you too baby. Always."

Can't you see
You're my life…. Life
Ha ah ah ahhh
Come around, come around, come around to me

Later on, they are down in the kitchen as Matt works on blueprints for a construction job he had coming up and Gabby stands at the stove, working on supper for them.

Matt keeps getting distracted by her, barely getting any work done as she moves around in just his t-shirt and her panties, the yoga pants from before long forgotten. Her hair was in a bun, but he could see her naturally tight curls framing her face after having showered and not done her normal styling. This was how he loved her the most, dressed down and natural.

Gabriella Dawson was breathtakingly beautiful, and she was his... finally.

He watches her move around his new kitchen with ease and a calm fills his heart. She fit into his place so seamlessly. She had been here since they got off shift yesterday morning and he was grateful for her company.

They had spent so much time together in the last few weeks, barely leaving each other's sides when they were off work. It was like they were making up for all the lost time and he had no complaints about that.

Gabby is searching the cupboard for something that she doesn't seem to be finding and he finally pipes up. "What are you looking for babe?"

"Literally any spices, babe... any." She huffs.

He laughs, getting up and opening a separate cupboard that she had yet to check, revealing what she desired. She muttered a 'thanks' before pulling a couple of bottles out and moving back to the stove. He leans up against the counter now instead of moving back to his paperwork and just watches her.

The way she moves to the music as she cooks, the ease in which she moves around the kitchen. He goes back to when they were in the living room and how comfortable she was when decorating his house. She fit here. She fit into his home and he wanted her here always.

"You're comfortable here." He says softly, suddenly.

Brown eyes peer up at him, mild surprise on her face from his sudden comment, and then her face is softening, a little blush filling her cheeks.

She nods. "Yeah, I am... I like this place... feels like you." She comments, looking around happily.

Casey nods, a grin filling his features at her words. The thought that has been on his mind all day now is flying from his mouth before he can overthink it any more than he already has.

"Move in with me."

Gabby's eyes widen in shock, not expecting to hear those words come from his mouth.

He watches her expression, and that's when his rambling begins. "Just hear me out, okay? I know it may seem early or fast, but Gabby we love each other and have for years. I don't want to waste any more time apart from you and..."

"Yes." She blurts out, cutting off his rambling.

"Yes?" He questions.

She nods vehemently. "Yes, God baby, yes. I don't want to waste a minute away from you either."

He pulls her into his arms, their lips meeting in passionate kisses, melting into each other once more.

Come around, come around, come around, come around to me
Come around…. To me

I hoped this was worth the wait.

I have this set up to either way with wrapping this story up in the next chapter or two or continuing it for a little longer. As I said in my A/N, that is really up to you all.

So please review, let me know what you think about this chapter the future of this story.

Review :)
