Note: I DO NOT OWN Vampire Knight.
Chapter 32: Proving the innocent (2).
In the Headmaster's office...
"After that, Kaname-senpai had those vampires under his influence and ended it..." said Yuki as she was recounting in the Headmaster's office to give her daily report. Kaien clasped his hands together and looked rather deep in thoughts.
"This is rather serious...thank you for telling me about this issue. Thank you for your efforts and sorry, Yuki." apologised Kaien as he placed a hand on Yuki's head.
Yuki wiped her tears with the corner of her sleeve."Chairman, I may have misunderstood Zero a little bit... but Kaname-senpai has also taken his stand against the council of elders, will he be alright?" she asked.
Kaien let out a heavy sigh before pulling out a booklet. "The truth is...Kaname-kun has already reported to me about what had happened earlier before you came. From the time that Hio Shizuka hijacked Kurenai Maria's consciousness...the event that has occurred today was also recorded. Maria-chan has been asleep in the vampire dorm's medical office...since Shizuka left her body, we have yet to see her true colours."
"Is that so..."
"Dependable isn't he? Kaname-kun...his actions may be seen that he was supporting Zero or even protecting him and Mochi-chan...but...this gentleness that he shows may backfire and can be seen as an act of opposition to the council of elders." Kaien explained before breaking into a small smile. "It's alright Yuki~, even if you don't depend on your father. I have no intention of staying silent on this one! Zero's brother is also a matter of worry."
Yuki looked down at the floor in a daze."Zero, Mochi-chan, Ichiru and Kaname-senpai too. If this keeps up, it might never end, huh?" she muttered to herself.
In the hallways of the Moondorm...
"When you are aware of Yuki, Mochi or Zero's presence, your appearance seems to change," informs Ichijo, while Kaname walked beside him. "May I ask...why do you do that?" Kaname turned to look at the blonde and a crater appeared on the opposite wall, just a few inches away from Ichijo's face.
Ichijo placed a hand over his heart that seemed to have bounce back alive.
"W-wow...it even went through the wall..." Kaname placed a hand over his eyes tiredly. "Sorry...I wasn't that aware of the power...that's all right, I 'll get used to it soon..."
In the dorm pathway...
"Chairman was worried about you since you didn't want to see him..." said Yuki as she tried to catch up to the silverette hunter. "Is that so..." Zero muttered with no interest as he wrapped his jacket over Mochi's sleeping form.
"Is the wound on your hand alright? It seems to be healing slowly...don't forget to eat a blood tablet in case..."
"I know, I know." Zero huffed at Yuki's lecture.
"Of course! That wasn't Zero's fault and that was definitely a childish prank." hinted Yuki at the Hio incident. "Also..." she started.
"I'm not sure whether Shizuka died from my attack or not...but even if I caused her death, I didn't regret it." Zero finished.
Yuki paused as Zero turned to find her smiling at him, "It's ok...I've said this before, I am on Zero's side, although I may be an unreliable ally. Zero...I know that you are no longer a level E, but...I want to protect Mochi at least."
Zero sighed tiredly and ran a hand over Mochi's soft feathers to calm him down. "What do you think of me, Yuki?"
"Eh?" Yuki stood there frozen at the sudden question. "Nevermind what I said, bye. I need to put Mochi to bed, it may be a little troublesome but can you patrol around the school? Just in case there are possible appearances outside the school grounds." said Zero, while Yuki watched him walk further and further away.
In the school hallway...
"May I help you, Zero-kun?" asked Kaname in a teasing manner.
"It was you, wasn't it?" asked Zero. "The woman that I wounded...it was you that killed her, Hio Shizuka," he said as he now faced the Pureblood.
"I heard that the flesh of Purebloods contain strong abilities if one were to obtain that power...agh!" Zero groaned as Kaname suddenly drew him against a wall. An arm each placed against the sides of the Vampire hunter's head to prevent him from escaping.
"You would have drunk it too... it would have benefitted you, but that's no longer needed since our daughter helped you," reminded Kaname as he eyed the half tattoo on his neck. " It's a pity, Zero. I used to be jealous of you...since you are able to protect the girl that you used to love."
Zero glared coldly at the comment before Kaname's eyes showed a hint of playfulness and took this chance to plant a peck on the silverette's cheek.
"You happen to be injured today. I hope you and Mochi have a safe night, thank you for your hard work. Please continue looking after Yuki and our daughter for me... " he spoke before leaving Zero behind. While the vampire hunter walked into the opposite direction as he started rubbing at his cheek, without noticing a blush rising to his ears. Making them slightly pink.
Back to the Headmaster's office...
"Zero... Kaname-kun...let's hope that this ripple doesn't get to the point of no return..." said Kaien, wrapping his jacket around him as he started walking out of his office.
