Chapter 35.

The blur moved between the trees, jumping from one brunch to another as it quickly left a small barely noticeable explosive tags.

The examinees will soon enter the forest, the one tailed jinchuriki with them and while he had plans on how to take the boy out if needed to be, it was always good to have a few backup plans.

His hand moved to the pocket where a bunch of thin black senbon were stacked neatley in small individual packings a smile spreading across his features under the blank mask.

He was preapered for it.

As he hid himself near the entrance through which the Suna team would walk in, he found himself oddly anticipating the possible confrontation, he almost hoped that the boy would give him a reason to end his life.

He narrowed his eyes as the whistle announcing the beginning of the test sounded, his hand moving up where a small black butterfly landed before he released it once again.

It was finally time.

The three walked into the forest, their eyes narrowed in anticipation for a possible surprise attack.

"Do you feel anyone?" her black haired teammate asked her to which she replied by shaking her head.

Their plan was simple, she was a sensor thus she was their ace in the hole.

She would let them know before they will be attacked and the two of them will act accordingly.

Being their support member also meant that she was carrying the scroll they were given.

Her hand moved subconsciously to touch the scroll before moving to a small pouch strapped to her belt.

It was a small one, the likes of which was usually used to keep senbon in, but unlike always this particular pouch held something much more dangerous than her regular projectiles.

Her mind wondered to how she got her hands on these and the one who gave them to her.

She could picture his serious face as he handed them to her, his black eyes filled with worry.

"Ino" he said his voice grave handing them to her "Take these" he opened the pouch showing her the thirty six black senbon there.

She lifted her eyebrow, unsure what was special about them.

"These are some of my own" he told her seeing her confusion "They are laced with a lethal poison, so please use them only if you have no other choice".

Her hands trembled as she accepted the pouch, connecting them to her belt.

His hands held her own his eyes like two pools of melancholy.

"Use them well" he said

"I will" she replied.

"Good" he finally cracked a smile "Now just an advice, your mission is a simulation of information gathering.. Remember your mission is above all to survive and return to your village with the info.. Remember that".

She nodded "Very well".

"I'll see you around, Ino" he said lifting his hand in a farewell "Good luck".

Then he vanished in a swirl of leaves.

She gritted her teeth her eyes narrowing in determination.

She will win.

"Oi Ino" Choji's voice broke through her thoughts "That's not the best time to loose your sense of reality" he said.

She blushed, embarrassed by her mistake.

Extending her senses she scanned the area, trying to find any opponents.

The forest lightened up for her in multicolored map, there were thirty three shinobi at this mission including her own, she could sense three people moving not far from them to the north while the east side had another six.

She opened her eyes before relaying the information to her team.

"We should move to take out the smaller group to the north, while there is a chance that they will have the same scroll we also minimize the risk" Shikimaru's voice was lively and full of determination, a far cry from his usual dull and bored one.

The Akimichi nodded in agreement.

"We'll move in the Ino-Shika-Cho formation.. Get ready" he said as he took the spear head.

The two others nodded taking their position behind the Akimichi.

"Let's go" she said her green eyes lighting up.

From the shadows he watched them taking out an Amegakure team for their scroll.

Akito didn't move to stop them, this wasn't part of his mission he won't move unless the danger was to one of the Konoha teams.

He anticipated that after getting their hands on the scroll the group will move to take out a few more teams and the possibility of it being a Konoha team was high.

To his complete surprise the three sand sibilings made a beeline toward the fianl destination.

He continued to trail them until they reached the exit and connected the two scrolls causing a jonin to pop out of it to congratulate them.

Sighing to himself Akito left the area back into the forest, a pang of dissapointment in his heart that he didn't get to take the enemy out.

"Perhaps it's for the best though" he muttered as he vanished from the area and into the shadows.

The team they met in the north came out to be the Hyuga team.

Not wanting to clash among themselves and knowing the Hyuga was a great trouble they decided to head south, were Ino felt another group was moving.

Unfortunately the night has came and they had no choice but to wait for the next day.

This time however they were in luck, a team from Kusagakure were there, walking carefully through the woods.

To their surprise they found only two shinobi, the third member of the team was no were to be seen.

"Do you sense the third anywhere?" Shikimaru asked quietly.

The blonde shook her head "nowhere in the vicinity" she replied.

"I guess we're in luck" the Nara muttered rubbing his chin thoughtfully "Either that or the other member is skilled enough to avoid detection by a sensor in which case we're most likely screwed".

Choji gulped but stilled himself "I think we should take the risk, "no pain no gain" right?"

The Nara nodded, looking at the two prospect targets more carefully.

They were both male, one a back haired boy while the other had brown hair.

From up there he couldn't be sure what was their specialist nor could discern anything else remarkable about them.

"I guess ill restrain the one with the scroll" he said pointing at the black haired boy "while Choji you'll take the other one.. Ino we'll need you to be on high alert for any unexpected guests".

She nodded, the old her would most likely get angry that she won't be part of the action, but she knew now the importance of her task..

She opened her senses before carefully climbing a tree taking position to support her team.

"Go" she whispered.

The two didn't need any other command, The Nara already moving his shadows toward the target.

The Akimichi was on the offensive as well, his body turning into a giant ball moving toward his own target.

Ino couldn't help but admire how the usually reluctant Akimichi moved to attack, she wondered what made him do that.

The two were taken by surprise but quickly regained their bearings and tried to retaliate.

The black haired boy however to his surprise and horror found out he couldn't even move his hand, much less use any technique.

His teammate on the other hand tried his hand in creating an earth pike from the earth to imaple the bouncing ball of flesh and blood moving toward him.

To his chagrin the pike broke under the force and still frozen from the surprise he was quickly ran over.

From her place on the tree Ino couldn't help but feel dissapointment at the lack of fight these two put up.

And while that could be attributed to them being caught by surprise it was still embarrassing and quite anticlimactic.

A moment later the two were incapacitated and their scroll were in team's 10 hands.

"Well that was pretty easy" The Akimichi said smiling lightly, relief evident in his voice.

Ino was about to say something when she felt it, a battle not far from them.

"There is a skirmish going on southwest of here" she reported "Approximately two kilometers away".

"There isn't really a reason for us to check it right?" the Akimichi asked nervous his cheeks getting a red ting at the look the blonde through toward him.

"True" the Nara confirmed "However the fastest route to the rendezvous point is through there.." he muttered.

Ino nodded "Not to mention that I can sense multiple people all around so this is even more risky" she added.

"Troublesome, but I guess that settles it" The Nara said "We'll be going southwest".

Choji gulped but nodded.

"Let's move" the Yamanaka said as she jumped from the tree top.

The two others nodded, leaving the unconscious Kusa team behind them.

When they reached the area of skirmish they stopped in horror.

There fighting against three Oto shinobi was a single pinkty who they all knew all too well.

Or held by her hair by one of the Oto team to be precise.

Behind her lying on the ground unconscious was Sasuke, Naruto was hurt as well and was very obviously out of the battle.

Rock Lee was lying on the ground battered.

The Oto team though in good shape looked absolutely ridiculous.

There was one guy with most of his face but his left eye covered in bandages, a straw raincoat of all things hanging from his back.

Another one, a guy with black spiky hair and a beige shirt had the Kanji for death printed three times on it.

The only normally clothed of them was the kunoichi.

What Ino did notice that for one reason or another their clothes all had a snake motif whether it's their scarfs or another piece of clothing.

Shaking her head to dispel the unnecessary thoughts she looked at her teammates.

"We should use the element of surprise" The Nara said " Ino take the girl using your mind switch technique.. Our priority is to save Haruno, I'll take the bandaged guy, Choji you'll strike when I'll give the signal".

She didn't need to be told twice, as much as she disliked the pinkty, she didn't want her dead.

Finishing her hand signs her conscience traveled toward the kunoichi.

As she was on her way she witnessed the pinkty using a kunai to cut her hair before substituting causing the senbon the Oto kunoichi throwed at her, before being sent flying by the black haired boy.

She finally reached the other kunoichi taking control of her, she could feel the surprise by the other girl only for it to vanish and fade a moment later.

She jumped in front of Haruno, intending to use the body she was controlling as a meat shield only for the boy in front of her to attack her anyway.

"She's better dead then being used against me" he roared.

Not expecting such an action she was taken by surprise, and having no other choice the blonde left the body, seeing it thrown as a ragdol by the gale coming from her opponent's hands.

Thankfully Sakura didn't look hurt by that.

It was at that moment that...something started to come off the unconscious Uchiha on the ground.

The boy slowly rose up from the ground, causing Sakura to look at him from where she lay on the ground.

"Sauske! You woke up.." she started only to freeze as strange black marking started to appear on the boy's left side.

Ino still on the way back to her body looked in horror as her crush's eye turned murderers.

"Sakura" he said his voice dark "who hurt you?" he asked.

Without waiting for her reply he turned toward the two remaining Oto shinobi who looked at him with horror.

Shikimaru's dark tendrils finally caught the bandaged shinobi who's attention was at the Uchiha.

The black haired Oto nin jumped forward "There is nothing to be afraid of a half dead guy" he exclaimed.

"No Zaku!" the bandaged guy called to his teammate "That's too much for us!".

But Zaku Abumi didn't listen, his palms facing the Uchiha, his eyes widened in hatred.

"Maximum air cutter!" he roared.

From the palms of his hands a wave of air pressure was released, striking the Uchiha and causing dust and debris to rise up everywhere, obscuring their vision.

He smiled darkly.

"That blew him to pieces" he said.

"Who did?" the Uchiha's voice sounded right behind him as he sent him flying.

Zaku slowly got up just as the Uchiha released four small fireballs at him.

The Oto nin looked pissed off as he opened his palms again releasing another wave of air pressure causing the flames to vanish.

To his surprise he was struck by shuriken hidden in the flames.

Distracted as he was by the shurikens he failed to noticed his opponent getting behind him, capturing his hands.

A small dark spread across the Uchiha's face as he put his leg on the other boy's back and started to pull.

Sakura and Ino both looked in horror as the boy intensified the pressure until a snapping sound was heared and the Oto nin fell down.

Now the rampaging Uchiha looked at the remaining shinobi who looked back at him with pure terror in his only visible eye.

Sauske started walking toward him, a dark smile across his face when someone embraced him from behind.

"Please.. Please stop Sauske" Sakura pleaded to him, holding him tightly.

Ino looked in wonder as the dark markings suddenly vanished and the Uchiha fell to his knees.

The remaining sound shinobi helped his teammate up after leaving his scroll on the ground.

"Let's make a deal" he said "Please let us go, we will give you our scroll" the man said his voice trembling "There is something we need to confirm".

Ino felt her rage growing as she saw the two about to let the enemy go.

They couldn't! Letting him go might put another Konoha shinobi in danger!

But what could she do?

Her hand moved toward the senbon pouch and before she knew it the small projectile was flying toward the man who's back was already turned.

"No way!" she screamed her eyes narrowing.

The man turned around and caught by surprise he let his unprotected hand to take the projectile.

His eyes turned toward her anger and fear playing there only for him to suddenly clench his hand in pain as dark veins spread quickly through his hand.

A second later he clenched his heart a muffled scream leaving his mouth before he fell down, a gurgling sound coming from his mouth, an expression of pure agony appeared on his face before he fell silent.

Ino looked at the scene, her hands and her entire trembling, she.. She just killed a man.. And so grusomley as well.

Her team, Sakura and Sauske looked with wide eyes which quickly turned to horror at what happened.

Ino slowly looked down at her trembling arms before casting her eyes at the pouch on her persona.

These senbon.. What were they?

And only one answer came to her mind.

A weapon made not for protection but for assassination.. The act of taking someone's life.

And that exactly what she used it for.. To take another person's life..

She fell to her knees, body trembling, and as she did she felt her heart clench.. There was emptiness there as if she just lost something.

Something precious.
