Chapter 15 – Sinful delights
'Karra.'
'Karra.'
'Karra!'
She jumped and swore as she looked over to the left to see Elaine at her desk. 'Aye, aye, what?' She said in surprise as she clears her throat. She brushed her ponytail over her shoulder and tried to make it look like she hadn't spaced out for the last twenty minutes.
'Girl, what is wrong with you? You've been away with the fairies all morning,' Elaine said as she perched on her desk and stared at her intently. With a gasp her face lit up. 'You had sex!' She said loudly and happily. Karra went bright red and jumped up running around to her door and shutting it firmly.
'Elaine!' She hissed in embarrassment.
'Oh my god, you totally fucking did!' She gasped again. 'Was it Fenris?' She gasped for a third time her hand covering her mouth, 'was it Dale?' She was very excited. Karra felt herself die a little inside.
'I didnae have sex,' she clarified much to the disbelief of her co-worker. 'Dale an' I just had one dinner,' she added as she rubbed her eyes and sat back down at her desk. 'An' it was just foolin' around, that's all.'
'Uh huh, fooling around doesn't cause this much of a reaction the next day. So it was Fenris?' Elaine squealed in glee as she leaned down to stare at Karra. Karra rolled her eyes and nodded, a blush erupting as Elaine clapped her hands happily. 'Sooo, tell me the deets,' she smiles.
'Ugh, Elaine,' Karra protested as she picked up some files.
'Oh come ooon, you have that drop dead gorgeous man living with you for literally months and months and you finally make a move and I get no details? How unfair is that? Especially if you didn't have sex and yet you're off on another planet,' she points out. Karra huffs and nods slowly.
'Okay, okay, ya harpy,' she says as she leans back in her chair and bites her thumbnail. 'We dinnae have sex, but we spent time doing other things... explorin' an such,' she mumbles. 'I ain't on birth control an' I weren't exactly prepared for it. I dinnae wanna ruin the mood by goin' an askin' Chase either,' she laughs as she claps her hands to her thighs. 'Turns out it was still pretty fun and uh... satisfactory,' she says embarrassed.
'So you-'
'Uh huh.'
'And he-'
'Uh huh,' Karra nodded as she fought her grin.
'God damn, Karra,' Elaine said fanning herself with a folder. 'I could only imagine the things that man would do. No wonder you've drifted all day, I bet you can't wait to get home,' she smirks.
'Well, actually about that..' Karra said with a sigh. 'We had a lot ta drink last night an' I had ta leave early this mornin' for work an' he wasnae up an' I dinnae wanna wake him so, I jus' don' wanna get home an' have it be all awkward, I mean he had seen me naked now,' Karra blushes as she slumps onto the desk. Elaine patted her on the head.
'Do you regret it?' She asked, Karra shook her head in reply. 'Do you think he regrets it?' Karra shrugged her shoulders making Elaine roll her eyes. 'Believe me, the only time a man regrets satisfaction is if it means he has to do something he doesn't want to. From what I have seen and heard, he's infatuated with you. I highly doubt he regrets it, plus, look at this picture,' Elaine said showing her the Face Book post she had put up the evening before. 'You're like the cutest fucking couple ever. Look, half the comments are asking why you aren't dating that delicious bit of man meat,' she jokes making Karra grin. 'What do you want between you?'
'I like him. A lot. A lot, a lot,' Karra admitted. 'I like what we have, we cuddle an' cook together an' have great talks, plus he understan's my past an' doesnae expect anythin' from me,' she mumbles as she props herself up on her elbow.
'You're basically married already without the sex. So, basically married,' Elaine laughs. 'And you've already broken the first hurdle, you saw each other naked and it was good-'
'So good,' Karra said wistfully.
'Well there you go, the only thing that would change if you start dating is that you get to ride that-'
'Oookay!' Karra laughs muting the woman with her hand. 'I think that's enough ofa pep talk,' she grins removing her fingers as Elaine sticks out her tongue. 'Good thing I only got a coupla hours left huh,' she said as she turned back to her computer. 'Thanks Elaine, that helped.'
'Don't worry about Dale, I won't say anything until you two are ready to come out into the world,' she says flamboyantly as she hops off her desk. 'Just try to string two sentences together without your mind wandering yeah?' Elaine teases. Karra agrees and watches as her friend leaves the office with a smile, she sighs heavily and rolls a pencil on the desk absent-mindedly. Last night was a great night, nothing that she had ever experienced. She felt bad about leaving this morning without saying anything to him but she couldn't bring herself to wake him up, he looked so peaceful in her bed, vulnerable. Luckily for her the last couple hours of her shift fly past with no hassle and Elaine, bless her heart gave no indication of knowing Karra's extra curriculum activities. It wasn't until Karra was driving home that she felt nervous.
You're okay, nothing has changed. Jus' gotta go in, smile and go with the flow... yeah.. the flow, she thought to herself as she drummed her fingers on the steering wheel as she bit her lip. With a heavy sigh she turned onto the driveway and parked up, pulling out her keys and backpack as she got out. She glanced over at Chase's house, seemed pretty quiet. She must be out. Shrugging one shoulder she went to the front door and let herself in with a call. 'I'm home,' she said loudly, she expected something but there was only silence. 'Fenris?' She called a little worried. Walking through to the kitchen she spotted a note on the table, written in the deceptively neat script he certainly hadn't picked up from her it read; -Work called me in. I will finish around eight-
Karra exhaled in relief and smiled to herself, why he didn't text her she didn't know but at least she knew what was going on. She dove into her bag and grabbed her mobile, it was only then that she realised that it was on aeroplane mode. 'Shit!' She swore as she turned it off and a couple of messages pinged through. She forgot that she put it on the power saver mode so that she didn't have to worry about finding the charger last night as she was preoccupied. One was from Chase saying that they were going on an overnight road trip and Scott was tagging along to see an old friend which settled her mind. The other was from Fenris asking if she had slept well and explaining that he was going into work. She smacked herself in the forehead and quickly typed a reply to Chase and took a moment to think of a reply to Fenris.
-Sorry, I had my phone on power save mode from last night.
I slept well, I didn't want to wake you up at five.
I'll see you later, x-
It was short and sweet and said everything she wanted it to and nothing that she really wanted to say. She made up her mind to pick him up but it meant she had a few hours to herself, most of the housework had been done; Fenris had turned out to be very particular about cleaning. She was tempted to cook dinner but she knew that they had leftovers in the fridge that wouldn't last another day and needed eating. 'Mary, when did I become so responsible?' She asked herself with a light laugh. She caught sight of herself in the mirror and tilted her head, it had been a while since she took care of her looks. She doubted that Fenris would say anything about the way she was but there was a little spark of femininity that wanted to shine. Picking up her phone she looked on the web for places that were around. She made a couple of calls and then ran upstairs to shower and change into something nice before getting back into her car with a grin.
Meanwhile it was coming to the end of Fenris' shift and he was cleaning a few glasses, it was relatively quiet at the bar it would be busier in about an hour so he was happy it was coming to an end. 'You seem a little different today,' Aaron said conversationally. 'Like, almost happy,' he teases. Fenris raises a brow and puts the wine glasses on the shelf above him.
'You are deluded,' he jokes back at him.
'Honestly man, I don't know what changed between last night and now but something definitely happened... almost like you got laid,' Aaron says hammering the last nail into the coffin. He had been dancing around the subject since he came in but Fenris had given him nothing.
'Again. A delusion,' Fenris said simply as he wiped down the side. He had to hide his smile as he knew that if Aaron found out it would be spoken about for months.
Aaron nodded not believing him. 'Hey, if there's really nothing between you and Karra I was thinking about asking her out,' he said bluntly, Fenris fumbled with a glass from the dishwasher but managed to catch it before it fell and smashed. Aaron gave him a satisfied grin and crossed his arms in waiting as he leaned against the bar. 'I knew it, something happened,' he says curiously. 'What?'
'It is private,' Fenris states as he fails to hide the smirk as he puts the rest of the glasses away. 'You cannot court her,' he adds making Aaron laugh.
'Dude, you are so funny, courting? Who talks like that any more, man? Okay, I get it, Karra is out of bounds,' he chuckles as he starts to serve another customer, he glances at the till, 'go on dude, it's time for you to go home, I'd leave before you get stuck serving a rush,' he smiles. Fenris pats him on the back as he passes to go into the office where he had left his things. Picking up his mobile he unlocked it and the picture of them at the cinema as his home screen made him smile, he opened the message from Karra and hummed happily to himself. He grabs his jacket and walks out the back-rooms in time to see her walk into the bar. His heart jumped as he spotted her, she had done something to her hair, it was shaped and an inch shorter than usual. Lightly curled around her shoulders and her fringe was more prominent, his mouth went dry as he noticed her outfit; a pretty black halter neck that had roses and skulls printed over it, a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and ankle boots that gave her a little more height. She wore deep red lipstick and her eyes were lined in dark kohl. 'Damn,' Aaron said under his breath as he shared a brief look with the customer he was serving.
Fenris walked over to her in a little bit of a stunned silence. 'K-Karra,' he said in surprise. 'You... You need not have picked me up,' he says unable to put a thought together.
She smiled brightly making his chest tighten as she reached up and kissed his cheek. 'I dinnae mind,' she said softly. Her cheeks flushed as she saw Aaron giving her a thumbs up, Fenris mentally committed murder as he opened the door for her.
'Shall we?' He asks wanting to get her out the eyes of all those around. She nods and walks outside her keys jingling in her hand.
'I'm sorry if I was late, I dinnae think you'd finish on time,' she apologises. Fenris grits his teeth as he looks down at her, he wanted nothing more than to push her against a wall and smear the beautiful lipstick that she was wearing. 'So I know we have food inna fridge but I was wonderin' if you wanted to have dinner out,' she says shyly as they walk to her car. Fenris couldn't help himself as they got close his trailed his hand up her waist making her jump and laugh as she stood with her back against the door. 'What?' She asked with a blush, Fenris put his jacket on the roof and closed the distance between them, his body pressed against hers reminding himself of the way she had moved with him the night before.
'It is cruel for you to look like this and I am unable to express my desires,' he murmurs into her ear as he holds her waist and breathes in her tantalising perfume.
'An' who said that?' Karra said before biting her lip.
Fenris chuckles a little and stroked her cheek lightly. 'I thought you wished for anything that we had to remain secret,' he points out.
Karra leans into his hand, 'more...private than secret,' she clarifies. 'I dinnae wan' anyone to interfere, like mammy,' she smiles. 'An' I wasnae tryin' to be cruel, I jus' wanted to look beautiful for you,' she blushed.
He raised a brow and tilted his head as he looked at her. 'Karra, you have always been beautiful to me,' he says softly. 'Even when you come down after a night of reading medical journals and your hair is all piled up in a bun and you are wearing one of my shirts and I am sorry, but the worst pair of leggings I have ever seen,' he says making her laugh and blush heavier.
'They're pretty bad ain't they,' she smiles with a giggle.
'Awful,' he nods, feeling his heart lift with her joyful expression. 'My point is, I think you are beautiful, you should not care what others think,' he says as he presses his forehead against hers. 'Though I stand by my point when I say that dressing like this is cruelty to me.'
'Well I cannae see anyone else around,' Karra says softly as she wraps her arms around his shoulders. 'We definitely shouldnae take advantage of this,' she smiles. 'It wouldnae be a good idea.' Fenris smiles and pulls her close as he kisses her deeply, his arms tight around her waist as he pushes her against the car. She smiles and moans ever so lightly making his need to taste her grow. The heat from the night before was fanned into an inferno and the low lying embers that had smouldered through the day erupted. 'What about dinner?' She said through the kiss.
'I am more interested in the dessert,' Fenris teased.
