Chapter 48: A long Awaited Talk
Nora
"Just don't do anything rash ok?" Jaune nodded, letting the information marinate in his head.
"Yeah, Ruby I won't" Nora's toe-headed leader answered, calm and collectedly as the rest of team JN_R watched him with expectant eyes.
"I'm just a scroll call away" Ruby's voice echoed from the scroll's speaker before Jaune shut the scroll and the line went dead. He turned towards Ren and Nora and gave the nod and that was all they needed. They were off like a bolt, moving through the ruins of mountain Glenn like a bullet from a gun.
The Grimm were paying them no heed as Ren's semblance hid them from the monstrous creature's views making their traveling. It had taken a long time for Ren to master using this technique while on the move but since then it had been invaluable especially during search and rescue missions. It also had a side effect of clearing one's thoughts.
Finally some action. Nora thought to herself lamenting the lack of action that had plagued team JN_R the few days that they were in the ruined city. They'd been keeping under the radar, for the most part, avoiding both Grimm and Atlas personnel but they'd remained ever vigilant for signs of their lost teammate.
"and who would have guessed that Ruby would pull through" Nora muttered to herself as the urge to fly through with maghilde hit her once again. The worst part of their pursuit of Pyrrha was that it was getting jumbled in with everyone's pursuit of Yang.
Such a drama queen Yang! Nora thought to herself, although she had to admit that she could see the appeal, considering that Yang had broken her jaw about a year back and she still owed her for that one. Although for a second there I thought I killed Yang… don't know how that factors into everything though.
Nora kept her hammer in Grenade launcher form as she turned towards her leader and eyed him up and down, the grey hue of Ren's semblance had spread across Jaune's form and his face was serious. Nora could almost see the plans filtering in and out of his skull as he ran, so were being discarded in slight shakes of his head while others were being adjusted with a squint of the eye. Jaune was doing what he did best and planning.
Hopefully, it'll keep up when he sees Pyrrha. Nora thought, praying to the thunder that her most negative imaginings were off.
Jaune's pace slowed down as the rounded the next corner, they were getting closer to Pyrrha and Ruby who was no doubt in hiding from the fall maiden considering how their last interaction went.
"What's the plan Jaune?" Nora asked as Jaune raised his fist for the whole team to stop. The grey hue vanished as Ren eased out of his semblance, no doubt seeking to conserve his own Aura for whatever may come his way.
Whatever comes his way is gonna have to go through me before it can even get a taste of his aura. Nora thought, eyeing her boyfriend as he checked and rechecked Storm flower.
"I don't want to surround her," Jaune said finally, no doubt the idea of sending Nora and Ren out to flank their 'Target' had entered his mind, but he was right to dismiss it. "If she feels trapped she might fight, flip out… we have to get her to approach us."
"Jaune?" Ren said cautiously, reaching a hand to stop Jaune from running out into the open.
"It's fine Ren I know," Jaune said. "We have to ease her into this, it… it can't be me first."
Worry wormed its way into Nora's stomach, she'd known how obsessed with Jaune Pyrrha had been before she got all fall-ified. It had taken her loss for Jaune to realize it and see how he felt about her. Thing was damn tragic and Nora wished it would go well.
"I'll go," Nora said. She gestured to her outfit with all its pinks, blues, and bright joyful colors. "Besides she should be able to spot me a mile away"
Ren rested his hand on Nora's shoulder, his grip was firm and she could feel the worry inside him that didn't appear on his face. She took off his hand and pressed it against her cheek, before reaching her finger up to poke the tip of his nose.
"Boop," Nora said, before walking off into the open alley-way, where she could hear the sounds of Crescent Rose sound off as Ruby' was no doubt scything down Grimm. It didn't take her long to see the horde and with a pull of her trigger a barrage of grenades flew through the air and into an Ursa and it's little Beowolf buddies.
"SMASH!" Nora yelled letting every Grimm (and fall maidens) in the area know that Nora Valkyrie was here to rumble. The Grimm began to encircle her now, she kept the tower where Ruby had stashed herself constantly in her peripheral vision. "I got this!"
That shout was more for Ren than for anyone else, and she could handle it, Nora was no slouch, even when Pyrrha had been a part of the team Nora was always the heavy hitter of the group. Nora was more than willing to demonstrate when she struck A griffon in the chin so hard with an upswing that it flew through the air and cratered itself into the wall of a nearby building.
The beowulves had chosen that time to pounce right at her back, she pulled the Trigger and fired an explosive shot from Magnhilde's head. The force of the shot helped shift her weapons momentum and the 3 beowulves were swept away with a strike of the Hammer. The hook on the hammer's head skewered them and with a whip of one arm, all smoking ashes and bits of flesh were tossed into the others of the horde.
Nora gave the black monsters a toothy grin, Slamming the hammer's head down next to her, still not bothering to enter the 2 handed grip. Nora loved it, the Grimm were getting a butt-whooping, the muscles in her arm were screaming just right and there was enough danger around her for her to be truly excited. A boarbatusk zoomed right at her spinning like a hyper-aggressive top, She sidestepped its forward advance, took a step too the left, and wacked the damn thing with the butt of her hammer. The blow wasn't hard enough to kill it but it was strong enough to send the creature off balance and into the masses of creeps snaking towards her flank. They were all bowled over.
"STRIKE!" Nora shouted unable to stop herself from picturing bowling pins. Then the flash of rose-red hit her peripheral vision.
Moment of truth. She thought flipping magnhilde into launcher form and taking potshots at the hovering lesser nevermores. Pink clouds filled the air as the shells went off around the corrupted birds.
Nora was making quite the show, to say the least. The Grimm certainly thought so as more and more began crawling out of the woodwork to surround her.
"Nora?" Echoed through her comm-bead as Ren was no doubt worrying over her current situation.
"Relax," Nora whispered into her comm-bead, hefting her hammer and slinging it back. "I got this"
She ran at a charging Ursa, it's back coated in spines, she was going to strike it in the face, set off the round in her hammers head to blow the creeps away before vaulting forward and kicking the Beowolves straight in the face. It was a good little tactic that she'd done a hundred times, unfortunately, she was successful in her mission before she was able to unleash the pain.
Nora couldn't see them so much as feel them, they were metal, they were thin and they'd zipped by her ear at incredible speed, each embedding itself into one of the Grimm Nora was about to strike. Blade dark green in color with light green highlights staining them were speeding through the air and into the Horde around her only to be plucked out by an unseen force and returned to another Grimm skull. They moved with grace, balance, and rhythm as if a composer was directing each and every blade.
Soon the Grimm were gone and Nora was surrounded by a dark smokey haze of Grimm death. She held her breath and could feel the eyes burning a metaphorical hole against the back of her neck. She took a deep breath, shifted her grip on Magnhilde and turned towards the new arrival.
It was her.
Before Nora Valkyrie stood the fall maiden, Pyrrha Nikos, the invincible girl. Around Pyrrha hovered a halo of swords, all uniform in design and immaculate, the weapons matched her new armor dark green with near neon highlights and she just stared at Nora with her mismatched eyes, exploring searching her former friend.
"Hey Pyrrha, thanks for the save," Nora said hesitantly being sure to make no sudden movements, doing what she could not to set the fall maiden off. Pyrrha was quite just observing Nora it seems with a twitch of the wrist, a black aura surrounded the many blades and they were returned to Pyrrha's backpack folding themselves as they flew through the air.
"Nora," Pyrrha said the word as if it was strange on her tongue as she walked around the thunder-child. Once again her eyes were moving in opposed directions, her green eye had a sad look on its face as it studied Nora while the other golden brown one was zipping around in its socket seeking threats. Nora shivered at the sight before hefting her hammer and resting it against her shoulders.
"Hey, Pyrrha," Nora said smiling big trying to wake her friend out of whatever had infected her mind. "I… I like the new outfit."
Pyrrha stopped and glanced down at herself and her green armor, admiring it as if she'd only now noticed it. She looked back up at Nora's positively pink outfit and seemed to admire it in a similar fashion.
"You don't look so bad yourself," Pyrrha noted, which did calm Nora down a bit until a dour look came over one side of Pyrrha's face. "Why are you here?"
There was worry and fear in how she said that and it did put Nora on edge.
What should I say? Nora thought to herself considering how Pyrrha had a habit of overreacting ever since she 'ascended'. Getting caught in a lie would be worse though.
"Are you going after Yang?" Pyrrha asked at the golden-eyed half of her face sneered at the thought. "are you after a rematch with her, cause I am, I desperately want it, Nora, so badly."
"I'm here for you Pyrrha." Nora finally answered. "I just wanted to see you again, to help you Pyrrha, the whole team is worried about you."
"Are they?" Pyrrha asked almost dreamlike, her brown eye going glassy.
"Yes," Nora answered. "Me, Ren… Jaune, we're all here for you we need to talk to you."
"Jaune!" Pyrrha's green eye began to glisten and glow. "He's here?"
Pyrrha started to flinch back, her hands closing in on herself hugging herself self and both here eyes darted everywhere and for a split second Nora thought she saw her former friend grin the most disturbing smile she'd ever seen. But in another blink of an eye, it was gone.
"ye-yeah, he wanted to be here for you." Nora approached the fall maiden, gently setting her hand on her friend's shoulder to steady her. "It's going to be alright Pyrrha"
"HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?!" Pyrrha screams slapping Nora's hand away before burying her head in her hands and moaning to herself. "No no no nooooo, its what she wants, it's what they want. No no not Jaune I can't do that to Jaune."
Nora took a careful step back, as the word's coming out of Pyrrha set off the alarm bells.
This may have been a mistake. Nora lifted her hand and made the 'stay back' hand sign to the rest of the squad, no doubt Ren was raring to run to Nora's aid after Pyrrha had struck her. We can't go to that right now, we need to give Pyrrha space.
All at once, the moaning stopped and Pyrrha's headshot out of her hands, and like always the eyes had locked onto Nora's. She was smiling and the only evidence of her emotional turmoil was the tear stains running under her green eye.
"Where is Jaune Nora?" she said in a too joyful tone that set Nora's teeth on edge. "I'd like to talk to him and Ren actually, it's been so long since I saw them. I want to tell them how sorry I am for being so busy."
The way she said, I'm sorry was off, it lacked sincerity, the way she smiled was off, looking this closely it had the rigid feel of a corpse and their eyes. Oh, dust the eyes.
The Brown one was normal, calm if a bit penetrating with it's gaze but the Green one was shaking in it's twitching with the pupil as thin as a pinprick. Were it anyone else Nora would have assumed that they had had a concussion buy that eye disparity, but Nora knew better.
Pyrrha is trapped in there. Nora took a cautious step back.
"Nora?"
"You're not Pyrrha," Nora said flatly and coldly, try as she might seeing someone, something do this to a friend of hers made her mad. "Let! Pyrrha! Go!"
"Are you alright Nora?" the fall Maiden said, and suddenly there was a sword in her hand, glowing with the black aura of Pyrrha's semblance.
"Run Nora," Pyrrha Nikos said, in a quiet Whisper.
Ruby
It burned Ruby to run, to flee away from Pyrrha while Nora drew her away, Ruby wanted to curse and scream and cry until it all went away. But she didn't have the time. She couldn't let Pyrrha find Yang, she couldn't let Atlas find her, she couldn't knowingly betray her sister again. Ruby couldn't do that and more so she couldn't leave Nora there in the maw of the beast.
Ren has my scroll info, Jaune has my scroll info, Nora has Ren and Jaune with her. It was hardly the perfect situation but there were things that could be done, more things that Ruby could do by just throwing herself at the Fall maiden and hoping she could get that eye thing going again.
Please kill me, Ruby. Pyrrha's words echoed in Ruby's head sending a shiver down her spine. That was a lot to ask of someone, it was too much to ask of Ruby and yet she felt like she was betraying her friend by not wishing to do it.
It would kill Jaune, it would destroy the rest of team JNPR, Everyone in Remnant would think I'm a monster and most importantly: I'D BE KILLING MY FRIEND! That thought scared her, frightened her to no end, she didn't want to kill anyone, and she definitely didn't want to even hurt a friend.
As she raced through Mountain Glenn heading closer and closer to her destination she felt apprehension and terror start to take over her. These thoughts mingled with excitement and worry and she had to focus to stamp down any panic attack that might come her way.
I can't do that, Not now.
It didn't take her long to find the place, speed was never Ruby's weakness and soon it was before her, the old ruins they'd slept in one day 2 years ago, where they asked the big questions. Why do I want to be a huntress?
As soon as she laid her eyes on it the memories returned to her, of a better time, a simpler time. But a time long gone regardless. The hole near the building's top that Ruby had fashioned into a makeshift sniper's nest was barren and empty, the blue door that had barely held together when the first entered was now completely gone and it appeared that a portion of the roof had caved in. slowly but surely time was eating away at mountain Glenn, in a decade it might be hard to prove that a human settlement had ever been here in the first place.
It was the Grimms' greatest weapon: time. Many pessimistic people would say that fighting the Grimm was pointless since they'd win eventually, Ruby didn't care for those people no matter how low she got. In her mind the pointlessness of fighting the Grimm was itself pointless, the fight still needed to happen and humanity had to do what they could to avoid returning to the dust they came from. But it was still hard to look at sometimes, just staring at inevitability.
But I can't think about stuff like that. Ruby thought bitterly, she'd put too many things into the 'pondering on it later' box and they would come to call, eventually. Pulling out her scroll, she sent a message to Blake.
R: Is she here?
The green dot blinked in confirmation. Ruby took a deep breath, her heart was racing once more and she wished that Weiss was here right now, to help her, to be her rock. But she wasn't and Ruby would have to make due. The fang still weighed on her mind but she'd done what she could and alerted Penny to their presence, there wasn't much else she could do. She took a step back planted her feet in a runner's stance and lept.
The Stranger
Things weren't going as well as the Stranger had hoped; the Faunus had been found out, someone had let it slip and the few Atlas personnel that had surrendered after an engagement with the fang, were quickly slain by the animals. But now it was clear that Atlas was on its guard, they were keeping their ears to the ground for any sign of fang activity.
And that's just great. The stranger wanted Atlas to figure it out, to start a flat out war with the white fang here in mountain Glenn, but only after a firmer foothold had been established, only after they'd ham-strung their supply line and after the eyes of Vale were there to see the wanton violence and slaughter.
The stranger was currently walking through another example of said slaughter, too little for her liking but still, the stranger was sure that Salem would make do. The White fang had struck one of the Atlas camps and the northern nerds were prepped; flashbangs, lights set to shadowed areas and despite the initial attack being in the shadows they'd called out the fang by name.
The little good that did them. The Stranger thought, pushing over the body of a deceased Atlas sergeant, his throat had been cut so deep the Stranger could see some spine. Some shouting had grabbed the Stranger attention away from the corpse and as they looked up they saw what all the fuss was about; they'd found a 'Traitor'
"You fucking bootlicker!" one Faunus shouted at the chained up Atlas soldier.
"Leash-wearer!" another said.
"Human-lover!" another shouted, and though their insult lacked creativity they made up for it by hawking a lunger right into the Atlessian Faunus' face. She was a saber-toothed tiger girl with huge canines sticking out of her mouth and little cat ears on her head. A tiger Faunus like her was no doubt at home in the tundra that was Atlas and the Stranger noticed that her uniform had been polished to a near mirror shine. At least it had been before all the blood, snot-spit and boot prints had been placed on it. Despite it, all The stranger had to admit that she was kind of cute.
"This bitch doesn't deserve her ears!" the Lizard Faunus snarled, to raucous agreement from the other fangers present. She Stooped down and gripped the woman's cat ears and withdrew a knife from her belt.
"Hold up." The stranger said nonchalantly approaching them with a raised hand. The gathered Faunus froze and turned towards the stranger and annoyed and incredulous look plastered on their faces at the stranger's gall for interrupting their mutilating. The stranger paid it no heed and simply pointed at the captured Atlessian Faunus. "You mind if I just ask her a few questions?"
"Actually, we do." hiss the lizard woman, reaching down with the knife again. The stranger coughed purposefully which stopped her again and she glared up, this time with a bulging vein clear on her forehead. "What?!"
"I was only asking to be polite; I really need to ask her some questions."
"Ask'em after we're done." she snarled baring her many sharpened teeth.
With a swift motion, the stranger's rags were flung back and a blade appeared in their hands and in a heartbeat was resting right against the lizard Faunus' throat.
"I'm still not really asking" The stranger grinned down at the white fang member, who looked back up at them with a splash of fear in their eyes. The Stranger could sense the hatred the Faunus around them were feeling, they could feel the animals glaring at their back.
They really want to kill me right now. The stranger mused pressing the knife a little more firmly against the lizard Faunus' neck causing her breath to hike up a second. It was a battle of wills now as the stranger stared at the lizard and the rest of the Faunus glared daggers at the stranger's back.
The stranger didn't care about them, the stranger didn't care about the lizards ready to piss herself resting on a knife blade, the stranger didn't even really care about the saber-Faunus girl. If the white fang attacked the stranger, the stranger would sort it out, if the lizard girl made an issue of it the stranger would slit her throat and sort it out, and if the saber Faunus girl died then the stranger would sort it out. They were just missteps and roadblocks in the stranger's path to what they really wanted.
Yang Xiao Long! There was a reckoning to be had, payback to be dealt and a hunger to be sated. The Stranger thought about the blonde as they stared down at the lizard Faunus and that hatred, frustration, and motivation built up behind the stranger's eyes. And the Faunus could see it. The saber girl was released, the knife was dropped to the ground and the Lizard Faunus raised her hands in placation.
The Stranger's hate was palpable, they could feel the other fangers take a step back from them. The blade in the stranger's hand was pocketed quickly and almost silently and they grinned down at the Lizard Faunus to show that the blade wasn't going to be coming back out for a while. Then quick as lightning the Stranger launched out an open palm strike right into the side of the Lizard Faunus' head smashing her to the floor. The Stranger didn't turn around they could tell the other fangers were reaching for their weapons but had stopped halfway, the stranger wanted them to know that the next time they disobeyed an order form them, there would always be consequences.
"Now that wasn't so difficult was it," the stranger said to the crowd still not looking at them, showing them that they didn't fear a knife blade in the back or a gunshot to the spine. Stooping down the Stranger lifted the saber Faunus and helped walk her to a nearby tent. Setting the Atlessian faunus down on a cot the Stranger withdrew a canteen and offered her some water.
"Th-thank you." The Saber-Faunus said, hesitantly taking the canteen from the Stranger's hand. "Thank you for saving me from them."
"What's your name?" the stranger asked. The stranger asked watching the cute girl drink from the canteen.
"Private Wissen" she answered finally whipping the loogie off their uniform but as they looked down on the floor they saw the bloodstain no doubt left by the sergeant here.
"How did you know the fang was here?" the stranger asked throwing a blanket over the bloodstain, they needed private Wissen to answer these questions with as little distraction as possible.
The private sat ram-rod straight and looked away from the stranger. Letting out a sigh the stranger looked back out towards the tent flap.
"They really hate you, you know" the stranger began, Wissen didn't look back but the stranger could tell she was listening by the twitch of her feline ears. "There's nothing people hate more than traitors… and the white fang think you're a traitor."
Wissen glanced out towards the tent flap and the stranger could hear her breathing growing shallow as darker thoughts played in her mind.
"All those things they said about ears… that wasn't just talk, and it wouldn't be the worst of it" The stranger just let that linger in the air as Wissen soaked it all in.
Faunus had so much going for them, but when it came to concealing emotions, many had greater struggles than humans; some bristled, others ears give them away and a rare few shifted color. But the stranger didn't need to see her ears to tell that Wissen was afraid, everyone is when that sort of doom is dropped on their heads.
"So," The stranger continued once the silence had reached its peak usefulness. "I'm going to need you to answer my questions or else I'll have to give you back to them."
The woman finally turned back and the defiance was no longer there.
Great now we can get things done. The stranger thought jumping right into the questions before Wissen could reply.
"How did Atlas find out about the fang?"
"Anonymous tip" she responded a little too quickly, it was hard to tell if the answers were coming from over-eagerness or because it was the rehearsed lie. "That's what the sarge told us anyway.
"I see." The Stranger rested their hands against the nearby table and let out a sigh. "I can't do anything for you if you aren't honest with me Wissen, you know that right?"
The Faunus girl bit her lip, she was shaking but eventually, she nodded. "Word from the brass is that one of the exploring huntresses spotted you guys."
The stranger inwardly cursed their negligence in killing Blake Belladonna when they had the chance, they'd sent a platoon of Faunus after her and the animals said it had been dealt with.
Note to self; kill that scouting party personally. The Stranger thought, letting out a tired breath.
"You're here in pursuit of one Yang Xiao Long correct?" The stranger inquired trying to get their mind off of their previous failure. Not a toe out of line.
"Yes, we actually thought we were getting close when you… when the fang attacked." That sent a jolt of excitement running up the Stranger's spine, they felt like their aura was on high alert and that they could run forever. They had to resist the urge to just pounce on Wissen and shake her till all the information came pouring out of her. The stranger took a breath, thought of Salem's judgment, thought of Cinder's old judgment and set their mind to a cool collected question.
"You said you were close, could you elaborate?" The Stranger asked steepling their fingers giving the girl the closest thing they had to a warm smile. "The fang is more interested in her than they are with Atlas."
The atlas Faunus stood up and walked to the table at the nearby end of the room, apparently happy not to have to sell out her own people. My my has Yang made such eager enemies.
Wissen gestured over the map to a section of ruins, casually brushing aside little Atlas tokens that no doubt gave away Atlas positions. She pointed to one of the ruins which had been circled with red.
"We scouted out these few buildings and while we were there, while we weren't harassed we did catch a few glimpses of her… well, I caught a few glimpses of her." The Stranger walked over to her and looked at the map themselves seeing where they'd indicated. "cause I was the only one who could see in the dark… so I only caught glimpse of her at night."
"I'm sure Atlas appreciated the asset."
Wissen, rubbed against her exposed tooth, clearly embarrassed by the compliment yet too confused to blush. "Tyr squad told us not to engage and to wait it out till they arrived. I think the sarge was planning on scouting out the area further… when…"
"When the White fang arrived." The stranger finished for her knowingly. "So you weren't able to scout out further?"
"No. we weren't," Wissen answered disappointed. It seemed like she was set to fight Yang herself, the Stranger could sympathize.
"Well thank you anyway, that's all I needed to hear." The Stranger turned to leave when Wissen grabbed their wrist, the stranger did not turn back.
"Wait! You said you'd keep me safe, that you wouldn't let them… do things to me." she practically whined, The stranger was filled with pity. "Please help me."
"I will" the stranger simply said before turning quickly and slashing their green blade across Wissen's neck, the cut was so clean and so fast the poor saber Faunus didn't have time to notice that she was dead. The blood poured out first in jets and until it lessened into a steady gushing. Wissen collapsed to the floor before the stranger could see any further development.
For a long, while they just stared at the corpse and wondered at all the things the girl could have eventually become had they not crossed the Stranger's path. They thought about that for a long minute before stepping over her corpse and to the war table. With swift efficiency, they placed the little tokens representing Atlas units back where they'd been before the dead girl had swiped them away. Well almost all of them.
Wouldn't want the fang to have too much of an advantage. The stranger thought with a sneer, more than happy to put these animals in the line of fire just to accomplish her goals.
Yang
Yang's gaze stayed on the mask as Blake watched her watching it, the question her former partner had asked still ringing in her ears.
"I am" she finally answered looking up from the mask to look Blake right in the eye. "I am serious Blake"
Yang looked around the ruins they were standing in. "I remember this place, I remember how close we were, I remember that fun, that excitement back when everything was simple. I… I miss it." She ran her fingers through her hair, tugging at it slightly. "I can't go back to being that person that I was, I don't want to go back, she was naïve and the world… the world Blake is so full of terrible horrible things, a naïve person can't live in it."
Blake nodded in response. "Weiss told me somethings, I need the whole story, I need…" Yang let out a tired breath it wasn't easy saying these things, but she needed the truth and she needed to fix things. "I need to make up for what I did to you guys"
Now that shocked Blake, whose eyes widened in response.
"Does that mean-" Blake started to ask before Yang cut her off.
"No! all isn't forgiven, but I want to work towards making it better." Yang extended her hand. "Come with me guys, let's see the world, be a team again."
Her hand was held there in the air for what felt like hours when the solemnity of the moment was broken by 2 scrolls buzzing.
Ruby. Yang thought since one of the scrolls was hers. Blake plucked her scroll from her pocket and tapped one button before pocketing it again. Yang raised an eyebrow and was about to say something when she felt a gust of wind against the back of her neck and saw Rose petals fly into the room. Slow she turned to the sniper look-out point Ruby had made 2 years ago and there she was. Ruby was dressed head to toe in armored gear, Crescent rose was slung along her back unfurled it its full combat glory, she looked the ideal huntress. But as her eyes locked onto Yang's fear, dread and anger started to flood into the Blonde, Yang took a step back and could feel the sweat building up inside her as her sister looked down at her.
"Yang?"
