Chapter 37: Dinner and a Show

Belle raised an eyebrow as she picked up her fallen book. "Um. How do you know my name?"

Sakura thought "Oh sh*t. I messed up."

"Um. Um. Angel, come with me."

"Um sure."

Sakura took Angel's arm and quickly ran away.

When they were in another place in the market, Angel asked "What was that all about?"

"Girl~. I messed up big time."

"Messed up how?"

"Don't you know the girl I bumped into earlier?"

"No."

Sakura facepalmed before saying "I know what world we're in. We're in the world of the Beauty and the Beast."

"Oh~. I don't remember watching it. But it was a long time ago and the Beast scared me so bad as a little kid that my mom never let me watch it again."

Sakura widened her eyes and sweat-dropped.

"Angel! How could you not watch Beauty and the Beast?! Practically everyone knows Beauty and the Beast!"

Suddenly, a small black thing fell from the sky and landed on Sakura's head! It was Luna!

Belle raised an eyebrow as she picked up her fallen book. "Um. How do you know my name?"

Angel lifted her cat from Sakura's head. "Luna! I'm so glad we found you!"

Luna rubbed her face against Angel's cheek and purred. Luna looked around before asking "Where's Vanessa?"

Sakura asked, "What is she saying?" Because all she heard was cat noises.

Angel translated Luna's meows before replying "We haven't found her."

Sakura spoke up "Well, we did find Belle. We met Cinderella in the last world, right? Maybe Vanessa will come to Belle too so let's find Belle. Again."

Sakura led the way and when they finally got to Belle's house, Sakura knocked on the door, but no one answered.

They tried knocking some more but when it was clear that no one would answer, they determined that no one was home.

Sakura said "That's weird. Belle's usually at home, right?"

They went around, inspecting the exterior of the house. Sakura found that it was strange that there were no chickens or horse to be found.

Sakura said out loud "That's weird. There should be something here."

She kept walking around the house, trying to find a sign of life. However, her actions could easily be misunderstood as something else.

Angel held Luna in her arms as she asked "Shouldn't we get out of here? People might think we're thieves."

"How?"

"Uh… Well we are standing on someone's property, looking around like we're trying to find a way in."

"Oh… You're right. We should get out of here."

When Angel and Sakura continued to walk back in the village, they walked near the bookstore and from the corner of Sakura's eye, she saw Belle inside the bookstore.

"Oh! Why didn't I think of that earlier? Of course, Belle would be at the bookstore."

Sakura and Angel walked inside the bookstore.

Belle walked up to the girls and asked, "Are you looking for something?"

Sakura asked, "You work here?"

"Um… Yes, I do. I just started recently."

~Meanwhile~

Vanessa was lying asleep in a room with cream colored walls. There was whispering in the room.

Mrs. Potts said "Poor girl. Taken away from her family."

Cogsworth replied "That's the master's business. As his servants, we have no authority to judge his decisions."

Lumière commented "Oh, Cogsworth. Have a heart."

At that point, Vanessa finally woke up. She groaned and stretched her arms out before sitting up. When she looked around, she was aware that there were objects, on her bed.

Vanessa's mind was still in a daze, she only snapped out of it when Lumière said "Bonjour mademoiselle. I hope you slept well."

Vanessa screamed "Ahhh!"

Cogsworth sarcastically said "Awake now, sleepy head?"

"A talking clock! Oh… Oh. I know who you are. That's very rude."

Cogsworth replied "Oh. So, you know who I am Missy?"

"Yeah… You're Prince Adam's… Head servant."

"Close… But I am the Prince's majordomo."

Vanessa burst into laughter as she was reminded of Zazu from The Lion King.

"What is so funny?"

Lumiére said "Now, now, Cogsworth. The lady just woke up."

Mrs. Potts stated that she needed to get dressed before she was presented in front of the master. Vanessa was shocked at first, but she soon changed her mind when she saw the dress the Wardrobe had in store for her.

It was a gorgeous green dress! Vanessa dreaded having to meet the prince but she was hungry…

When she met him in person, the silence was awkward. He didn't have anything to say to her and she didn't have anything to say to him either. Well, she could insult him for demanding that she be brought before him like some object but… It was probably best to avoid conflict for now.

The forks and dishes served the food in a stylish manner near Vanessa's head which made her duck sometimes but the whole atmosphere was still fun. The food made the whole ordeal worthwhile.

As Vanessa began eating, Prince Adam tried making conversation with her but all she said was "Uh…" which triggered his anger. He threw his plate onto the ground while Vanessa thought 'What a waste of food…'

Cogsworth and Lumière had to calm him down and instructed Vanessa to go back to her room.

Vanessa had never walked so fast in her entire life. She was back in her room in no time. Now that she was in the safety of her room, she slid down to the floor due to exhaustion.

Mrs. Potts gave her a cup of tea to help her calm down.

Mrs. Potts then asked, "What happened dear?"

Vanessa replied "I don't know… He just. Lost it." She then retold the situation from the beginning.

Mrs. Potts sighed. The silence was then interrupted by the rumbling of Vanessa's stomach.

"Oh dear, you poor thing. Let's get you something to eat."

Mrs. Potts jumped onto the serving table which moved by itself and Vanessa followed it. The serving table led Vanessa to a room that was smaller than the dining room and next to the kitchen. When she came near the table, the chair moved out on its own, she sat down, and the chair pushed her forward. "Uh… Thanks."

Lumiére appeared at the table. "Don't be so nervous mademoiselle, your meal will be arriving soon."

Cogsworth also showed up and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Why Cogsworth, I'm here for the entertainment."

"What?!"

"Shhh. It's dinner and a show."

Vanessa replied "Ooh. ~"

When the dishes started arriving. Lumíere began singing "Be our guest, be our guest. Put or service to the test."

Vanessa started singing along "Tie your napkin 'round your neck cherie and we'll provide the rest. ~"

The song eventually ended "Please be our guest!" Vanessa clapped once the performance was over. Even though the performing staff was limited, everything was pretty much the same, but she was awed seeing it in person. It was more magnificent than she originally thought.
