AN: Before we begin, I'd like to give shoutouts to a couple of people.
PinkRose0106. She has written a really nice oneshot featuring my OCs, Celia and Ruby. I recommend that you check it out: it's called "Stories and Ice Cream."
The other person I would like to give a shoutout to is Northstar Pokeshipper. They are currently working on a story called "Ending an Old Tradition" that is based on my story "Super Koopalings Episode 4: Runaway Reptile." I would also recommend checking that out, and I want to thank both of these people for their support of my series.
Anyway, onto the chapter.
Chapter 10 Race Around the Web
"The Dark Web?" Roy asked. "What the World Eight is the Dark Web?"
Iggy would have sighed in frustration at this question if he did not see that some of his other siblings were confused as well.
"It is the part of the internet that is not available to the everyday search engine," he said. "You need specific software in order to gain access to it."
Lemmy's eyes grew wide with worry.
"Well, if it isn't available to the classic everyday search engines," he asked. "How are we going to get into it?"
Iggy thought about this. Seeing how they were not using a typical search engine, getting to the dark web would probably be easier than it would otherwise be. But that was not saying much.
"We need a map of the internet's layout," Iggy said.
"And where would we find that?" asked Morton.
Iggy racked the corners of his brain for something that could help them. Then a smile slowly spread across his face.
"I have an idea," he said. "Follow me."
Iggy lead his siblings out the door and back into the code. He traversed the path, checking all the doors that he came across in the process. It took him a while, but eventually he found what he was looking for. He lead his siblings through a door and into another site. This one resembled a mall, with all sorts of levels and stores for the Koopalings to access.
"Woah!" Wendy squealed with delight. "This place looks amazing!"
"This right here is an online shopping site,'" said Iggy. "It is a place where you can buy and buy to your heart's content. Provided that you have enough money."
"Shopping? Count me in!" Wendy said. She rushed toward one of the stores. Before she could get very far though, Ludwig stopped her.
"I don't think we are here to spend willy nilly," he said.
"That is correct," Iggy said. "I have come here because I wish to purchase one specific item.'
Iggy started to traverse through the mall, checking the store windows. He felt sorry for Wendy on some level, as he knew how much she hated window shopping. But then again, like Ludwig said, this was not the time or the place to make grandiose purchases.
"Ah, here it is!" Iggy said. He entered into the store and came back out with a small, black device. "This GPS will be perfect for helping us find the dark web!"
Iggy typed into the GPS, and when the results popped up, his heart sank. The GPS did indeed show him how to get to the dark web. Unfortunately, the path to it was long and tedious. They had to traverse through more sites than they had ever encountered before.
"What's wrong, Iggster?" Roy asked.
"The path to the dark web is not one that we can traverse on foot," Iggy said as he displayed the GPS to his siblings. Morton nodded his head when he got a glimpse of it.
"You're right." He smiled. "But who says we have to use our feet?"
Morton went to another store. When he came out, the eyes of the other Koopalings grew wide. Lemmy in particular looked really excited.
"Go karts?" he asked.
That was indeed the case. Morton had six go karts trailing behind him, each color coded to match the shells of the different Kooplaings. Morton was grinning like a crook as he showed them to his siblings.
"Ta da! If we use these, we'll get to the dark web lickity split."
"That's great, Morton!" Iggy said. "But aren't those go-karts expensive?"
"Eh," said Morton with a shrug. "I used a credit card; I'll be fine."
Iggy chuckled.
"Alright everyone; hop in!"
The Koopalings all jumped into the go karts that matched their shell color. Iggy got into his and set up the GPS after he started his engine.
"Alright everyone," Iggy said. "Let's a go!"
With that, the Koopalings drove into the mall and back into the code. Iggy was at the front of the pack, driving like a pro.
"The first site that we need to go into is a streaming service!" he shouted to his siblings. "It should be coming up any minute now!"
"Turn right at the mysterious door," the GPS said. Iggy did as he was told, and he and his siblings entered into the streaming service. Or, to be more specific, an episode that was playing on the streaming service. Iggy looked up ahead and saw Derek and Bunny, the two main protagonists of a soap opera that he thoroughly enjoyed.
"Oh Bunny," Derek said. "Your eyes are bluer than the deepest...blue thing."
Bunny sighed dramatically.
"Oh Derek," she said. "Your descriptions are always on point!"
Iggy giggled heavily at the scene being displayed. He wanted to stay and watch the entire episode, but he knew that wasn't possible. So, he kept going, much to his reluctance. The Koopalings exited through another door back into the code.
"Turn left at the social media site," the GPS said.
Iggy and his siblings entered another door. This one was filled to the brim with the avatars of different people. Iggy heard one of them talking to another.
"Hashtag emoticon," one said. The person they were talking to laughed.
"Oh, LOL!" they said.
Iggy started to feel really annoyed. He didn't mind social media sites, but the language and slang that is used there really grated on his nerves. He pretended to gag just as he and the other Koopalings exited back into the code.
"Where to next, Iggy?" Ludwig called out.
"Now we are heading to a fanart site!" Iggy called out.
Iggy and his siblings entered in through the next door. This site resembled an art museum, and was filled to the brim with drawings made by people online. Iggy had mixed reactions to the different drawings. Some of them were of excellent quality, with their beautiful colors and excellent designs. Others were so disgusting that Iggy had to look away. He knew that if this were a real museum, the art would not be this grotesque.
Iggy and his siblings exited back into the code. Iggy called over his shoulder to his siblings:
"There is only one more site we need to get through! It is home to a trivia game!"
Iggy pulled up to the door and entered through. The site was darker than Iggy anticipated. In fact, he could not see any of his surroundings save for the door on the other side of the room that would take the Koopalings back out into the code. He smiled at the sight of it just before the unthinkable happened: the go karts ran out of gas.
Iggy pulled over to the side of the room and got out of the go kart. He saw that his other siblings had also gotten out of their go karts.
"Oh man!" Roy said. He kicked the side of the kart in frustration. "This thing needs gas to go? What a piece of junk!"
Iggy looked over at the door.
"It doesn't matter," he said. "We aren't that far away from the dark web."
Iggy took a step toward the door. However, just as his foot touched the ground, the lights came on. The site that the Koopalings found themselves reminded Iggy of a game show. It even came complete with its own host.
"Ladies and Gentlemen!" the host proclaimed. "Welcome to the game 'Anything and Everything!'"
