Chapter 53 - The Perfect Morning
The first thing that registered to Yang's mind was the heat. It wasn't uncommon for her to wake up in such a way, since her body was naturally hot, but the heat had been a little more frequent as of late. The source was of course the snow-haired woman that laid in her arms with her head tucked just under her neck. Almost her entire body was beneath the quilt, and the only part that wasn't was the top half of her face, which revealed that the woman was still very much asleep. That sight alone was as good a start to a Saturday that anyone could ever have in Yang's mind.
Just as Weiss had promised, she'd taken a few days off work under the guise of relaxation after securing her promise from Ironwood, so she was completely free until Monday. Of course, she'd still had to work the day before to sort some things out, but had arrived at the apartment around six to begin the weekend. It had been an almost perfect night where they had simply cuddled up on the couch and watched television. Yang had cooked, of course, and the two had just enjoyed each other's presence for the night until they finally fell to sleep.
Weiss had fallen asleep first, exhausted from her day, and Yang was quite happy that she got to watch her look so content for a while before falling asleep herself. However, while she would have loved to stay there forever and reminisce about the prior night while she listened to her girlfriend's soft breathing, it being something that always calmed her, she had other plans in mind and began to slowly extract herself from the cuddle.
"Mmm."
The slight rumbling groan made her stop for a second, but Weiss remained out like a light. With a couple more delicate moves, she finally managed to get Weiss' head onto the pillow and get her arms free; but that was when Weiss gave a small shift and her eyes cracked open tiredly.
"Yan… wha- tim…"
"Four-thirty," Yang lied, keeping her voice to barely a whisper. "Go back to sleep. I'll be right back, I just need the bathroom."
"Mmm," Weiss hummed, her eyes closing again as she gave a small nod. "Hurr…"
She was gone again, her final word incomplete as she drifted back into her dreams. It was something Yang found exceptionally cute, and had to resist the urge to kiss her forehead. She did resist though, since she didn't want the woman awake just yet, and slowly pulled herself away. Just before she slipped out of the quilt, she looked back on the naked, sleeping form of her girlfriend. A grin took over her face as she was quickly reminded of another activity they had engaged in last night, but she shook it away and gently tucked the quilt back in close to the woman so that she wouldn't get cold.
Finally out of the bed, Yang hurriedly picked up her clothes from the previous night and pulled them on. As quietly as she could, she made her way to the door and left the room to get started on her goal.
It took thirty-five minutes for the door to be silently pushed open again to allow the smell of eggs and bacon to flow into the room properly. Yang knew the smell would wake Weiss in a matter of seconds, so she moved fast. Thankfully there was nothing in her way, and she managed to get to the bed just as the heiress began to stir. Her nose was the first thing to start twitching, the adorable little organ sniffing out the food that was on Yang's tray. By the time the woman's eyes began to open, the tray was already placed on the floor and she had climbed her way back into bed.
"Mmm, something smells good," The woman mumbled as Yang moved up behind her and slipped an arm under her head to pull her close. Weiss happily obliged and her hand came to rest back on her chest as a hand landed on her stomach. "Where's mine?"
"You were sleeping." Yang lied with a chuckle and earned a small groan in return.
"Then I gu-" Weiss stifled a yawn with her hand. "-ess you're going back to the kitchen."
"But that's effort." Yang grumbled as Weiss looked up at her. She couldn't help the mischievous grin from spreading over her face. "And would completely defeat the point of breakfast in bed."
"Huh?"
As confusion furrowed Weiss' brow, Yang let out another chuckle and nudged her away a little so she could lean down and pick up the tray. It was covered with food, from bacon to toast, but at the very centre was two plates with eggs benedict on them. Weiss' eyes widened slightly at what Yang knew to be the woman's favourite breakfast, and she considered her plan a success. She set the tray down on the bed as Weiss began to sit up and pull on a spare t-shirt, which Yang quickly handed to her from the bedside drawer.
"I know it's not for another couple of days," Yang grinned and gave her girlfriend a quick kiss. "But happy six month anniverssary."
"Mmm, happy anniversary." Weiss smiled and returned the affection. Her fingers lightly grazed over Yang's cheek and a soft hum escaped her throat. "Can't believe I've been happy for that long already."
"Me too." Yang breathed as the girl pulled away, though her hand remained. It took a lot of effort to pull away from the bright blue eyes that were staring into her. "But we should eat this before it gets cold. I have to get ready for work too."
"Ughhh," the heiress groaned and let her hand drop. "You really couldn't get the day off?"
"I'm sorry." Yang said, Weiss not being the only one who was sad about that fact. "Ghira has court today, and Kali has a meeting with the bank. So it's just me, Blake, and Ilia."
"Hmm, I suppose I can make do for a few hours." Weiss sighed and began to cut into the yolk so that it mixed with the sauce. "What time will you be back?"
"Around three. Gotta leave at ten."
As she cut off a piece of the toasted muffin, Yang saw Weiss look over at the clock, which told them it was half past eight, and give a small nod before she returned to the food.
It only took them a couple of minutes to eat, the eggs benedict being the first to be finished. Yang hadn't cooked it too many times before, but she thought it turned out pretty well. The sauce hadn't broken that time at least, and Weiss seemed satisfied since she let out a low sigh of pleasure when she finished it. All in all, she considered the morning a success. She was even a little sad when she had to extract herself from the bed yet again to shower.
One thing that did make the shower better though, was that she wasn't alone. She had been for the first few minutes, but that had quickly changed when she felt a pair of hands snake around her hips and turned to see her girlfriend with a smug grin on her face. As showers went, it was probably one of the best; but Yang doubted many people could find fault with being helped getting clean by an exceptionally beautiful woman, under the gentle flow of hot water. She really did love the mornings with Weiss, but was a little worried she was getting a bit too used to them. The bad thing about those mornings being perfect, was that the ones where the woman was absent were pretty boring.
However, that was tomorrow's problem. The only thing Yang really cared about were the twenty minutes she had left to relax before she had to get ready for work. It seemed that place was, once again, half dressed in the bed. The snow-haired girl was once again the little spoon, Yang's arms wrapped around her waist to keep her warm, but also because she liked any excuse to have the heiress close to her.
"So," Yang breathed purposely into Weiss' ear and enjoyed the shiver that ran through her. "What're your plans for today?"
"Mmm," Weiss hummed and nuzzled back a little more. "Sort out some coursework stuff. Maybe email Fletch again."
"Hmm, how're things going with him?"
"He at least replies to me regularly now. And seems to be a little more friendly."
"But still no patent talk."
"Nope. He gets a little dismissive when I bring it up too."
"Well, I'm sure you'll figure it out." Yang replied and pressed her lips against the woman's cheek. "You're brilliant, after all."
"I know," Weiss chuckled and squirmed around to face her.
"Except at cooking."
"Hey!" Weiss said with false offence. "I think I did fine."
"You walked away with all your fingers… surprisingly."
Weiss let out a small laugh that caused Yang's heart to soar and pressed their lips together. The feeling of kissing, and being kissed by her while they relaxed, in what was essentially their bed, was something that wasn't going to get old any time soon. However, unlike the night before, she wasn't really able to show Weiss just how much she loved it without getting dirty again. And she didn't have time for another shower.
"Yes, well, I would rather you do the cooking anyway. It saves me a lot of money not having to go to restaurants."
"Well, you let me live in Win… Well your apartment, so I'm more than happy to do it for as long as I stay."
"And... how long is that?" Weiss asked, her voice a little more cautious than before. "Not that I'm rushing you to leave."
"I know you're not." She replied in a soft voice.
She'd been thinking about it herself a lot over the last few days, and had even reached for the phone a few times to call her dad, but always backed out at the last minute. It was no longer the alcohol that held her back, though she was still electing not to drink, nor was it the fact he lied to her. It was that he'd destroyed a life, unwittingly at the time, but refused to show remorse for it. She was still struggling to come to terms with that.
"I don't know yet."
"Maybe you should call him." Weiss suggested. "You can't work through things if you don't talk."
"I will soon," Yang said with a nod and looked down into the soft blue eyes of the woman she loved. "I just wanna talk to Raven first. Get her thoughts on it since she kinda went quiet last time I brought it up. Didn't wanna bring it up again when we met on Tuesday."
"Why not?" Weiss asked and grazed her hand slowly up Yang's back.
"I uhhh..." She shook her head. "I don't want to have that conversation in public. And I can't exactly bring her back here since it will just make her ask questions. She doesn't exactly know about you yet."
"So tell her."
"Wh-What?" Yang was taken aback by that. She had been holding off on telling Raven about Weiss until they were finally in public. "But… we just told my friends. We don't have to tell Raven yet if you want to wai…"
"I want," Weiss cut her off with a firm look. "For you and your dad to resolve your issues, because I know you still care about him, and that this distance is hurting you both. If you need to talk to Raven, and need to tell her about us to do that, then that is what you'll do."
"I… Are you sure?"
"Mhm," Weiss hummed and gave her a gentle smile. "Besides, if everything goes to plan, and I've planned things quite meticulously so they should, we will be telling my father in little more than three weeks."
That was true. Last night, Weiss had finally told her what she intended to do with the information she had found on her father, and though Yang wasn't quite sure about the next step, Weiss had assured her there was no other way. However, the girl was still being a little secretive about what came after that step, but she trusted Weiss enough to know she had her reasons for that. So with all that in mind, it made sense to finally start coming clean to those who didn't know; at least, a few of them anyway.
So with a nod, she gave a nervous smile to the woman in her arms and prepared to ask for something a little different. "Okay. But what if... and you can say no… we tell her? Together?"
"You want me to meet her?"
"Only if you want to," Yang replied quickly since she wanted to make sure Weiss didn't feel any pressure.
Weiss' hand came up to cup Yang's cheek, and a soft look was given to her as the woman's thumb did tiny circles. Naturally, Yang found herself leaning into the comforting action. "I want to be part of every important thing in your life."
"Okay." She smiled in return. "She has tomorrow off so I can invite her over. Or is that too soon?"
"It's perfect." Weiss replied with a shake of her head.
To show how grateful she was to have such an understanding girlfriend, Yang pressed a kiss on her lips. It was completely absent of desire, or lust, or want; the only thing it held was love. Even though it had been six month, almost, she still couldn't believe she had landed someone like Weiss. Someone who made every day better simply by being around, or calling. So as she pulled away from the display of gratitude, she closed her eyes and whispered a quiet thank you, only for it to be dismissed.
"You don't have to thank me." Weiss smiled back and let her hand drop. "You do have to get ready for work though."
Yang looked over the woman's shoulder at the clock to see that she only had ten minutes to get ready, and let out a low sigh. She really would have loved to stay in the apartment all day with Weiss, but Blake really did need her help at the store. With a small groan, she gave Weiss a nod and pulled the quilt from where it lay over her, moving to the edge of the bed to look in the drawer for a bra.
While she looked however, she felt the bed dip behind her and a hand came around to rest on her stomach as lips pressed lightly on her exposed back. The small pecks slowly made their way up her spine, each one sending shivers through her body and making her regret leaving the bed all the more, until they finally landed on her shoulder.
"Can you invite Ilia over tonight, too?" Weiss asked and placed another kiss into the crook of her neck. "We should talk to her."
Yang gave a small nod as she started to get dressed. "She isn't going to take it well."
It was a little of an understatement.
"I know." Weiss replied and helped fasten the clasp of the bra. "But I don't have any other choice."
"I know." Yang got up off the bed and let out a low sigh. She knew exactly how her friend was going to react to their plan, and while she wanted to avoid that, she also understood why Weiss needed to do it. "But I'll bring her over."
She pulled her work shirt from the nearby hanger and began to button it up. Once she was finished, she looked in the mirror and saw Weiss gazing at her with hungry eyes. It was a cute sight to see, and she couldn't help but smirk as she turned around and placed a hand on her hip.
"You really like this uniform, huh?"
"A little," the snow-haired woman chuckled and hid the lower part of her face with the edge of the quilt.
"Mmm, the serving girl look do it for you, Rich Girl?"
Despite the quilt, the grin that spread on Weiss' face was obvious, and Yang couldn't help but walk a little closer. When she reached the bed, she leaned down and pulled the material away. Only a teasing kiss was placed on her, but a hum followed after she pulled back.
"Maybe," Weiss said with a shrug. "But I mostly like getting to watch you dress for work."
"Well get used to it," Yang smiled and placed another short kiss onto her lovely girlfriend. "But I should probably get going. You're making me late enough as it is."
"Alright." Weiss giggled and laid back in the bed. "Have fun at work."
"Hardly fun without you," Yang said and stuck out her tongue as she headed towards the door. "Love you."
"Love you too."
A/N
Hello everyone, not really anything to say today since it's just a short bridge chapter. Sorry it's not much, but I did say a few chapters ago that I would be mixing in some short chapters here and there. They really help me stay on top of things, so that I don't fall behind.
Quite honestly, I've been having some issues. A lot of personal issues have been flaring up lately, and having to write a chapter for both the stories in ten days to not fall behind has been leaving me a little stretched thin. It's gotten to the point where I may have to consider extending the time between chapters for a few day, but I really don't want to do that if I don't have too.
Toxic has talked about it before in replies, but I work best when I only have a rough outline of the chapter and can improvise a little; and he can leave me alone for an hour and he'll come back to see 2000 words done. On the other side though, if I thoroughly plan out a lot of the chapter and how I want conversations to transition and go, then it takes me forever to write anything; sometimes not even getting 500 words done a day. And unfortunately, a lot of this next arc (the penultimate arc) is thoroughly planned out. I dunno, guess conversations just flow better for me when I figure them out on the go.
But yeah, that's me rambling, and I will stop now. Let me know what you would think of me extending the upload schedule to every 2 weeks instead of the 10 days it is now. It's not something I want to do, but is something I may have to do. This pressure may be eased when the current arc of the other story I upload finishes, but I would really like your feedback on this since you are the people waiting for, and reading, this. However, as for right now, the next upload will be on the 13th.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed, and I will see you again soon :)
A huge thank you to Dark Yellow Dino (if your name refers to the Yellow ranger from Dino Thunder, then yes, Kira best power ranger girl :P,) crazyringo, Shadows Twilight, and Zoro50. Your kind words always mean a lot to me, and I am so glad you are enjoying the story :D
