Author's Note: Raven's almost done. Keyword, almost.

Chapter 6:

It took Raven much less time to calm herself down, feeling much more informed than emotionally drained, this time. After a few moments, she took a deep breath and entered the fourth door.

This room was different. Instead of one single memory, she saw flashes of many memories playing all around her as she stood in a blank, white room. Beast Boy's angriest memories to be precise. However, the feeling in the room of memories wasn't anger, it was fear.

The memories started to slow down and Raven looked around, expecting to see Beast Boy somewhere. She didn't. She then focused on some of the memories. Raven watched one in particular and noticed that there was a presence in the back of his mind all throughout the memory. She then watched another and the same thing happened. The presence wasn't obvious, but it flared whenever Beast Boy got particularly angry in a memory. It was gone almost as fast as it came, but it was there. No matter which of the many memories in the room Raven chose to focus on, the presence was there. After a few moments of thought, Raven quickly realized what it was. She stood there for a second, processing the realization, mouth half open.

Every single time Beast Boy got mad, it was a chance for Him to escape. The presence they had come to call The Beast was always in the back of his head, taunting him to kill whatever angered him, generally his friends. She realized that he was scared. Scared of the day that he could no longer hold it back and it would do the same thing it did to those scientists nearly a decade ago. He lived in nearly constant fear. To make matters worse she realized that herself the the others always seemed to trivialize his anger. The only times they'd taken it seriously were whenever they could clearly see it was causing him some sort of internal conflict. Never once had she thought this was the conflict taking place, however. She immediately felt guilty. Raven stood like that for a few moments, slowly putting the pieces together before realizing she had to fix it like she had the past three memories. After thinking for a moment, she turned to look at one of the stronger memories surrounding her and attempted to leap into it. It worked.

She found herself in the common room about two years ago. She recognized it, partially because she was in Beast Boy's head, and partially because her and Beast Boy had had a particularly rough argument. She didn't remember what it was about, but she remembered the setting, although this time she was seeing it through Beast Boy's eyes. As the she watched herself and Beast Boy argue about something, probably something trivial, she paid close attention to the presence making itself known in the back of his mind.

"Let me come out to play, Garfield." It said. It sounded dark and menacing, it was as if all the dark parts of the animal kingdom had been merged into one voice and it made Raven's skin crawl. She recognized Garfield as his birth name and waited for some sort of response from Beast Boy. After a few moments, he responded.

"No. You're not coming out. Not now, not ever!" He spat back at the voice. She was surprised by how strong he sounded. Whenever he yelled at others, his voice sounded more like a whine than an angry growl, usually, anyway. This, however, was the strongest angry growl she had ever heard from him. It was nearly frightening. Raven's thoughts were broken as The Beast spoke back.

"I will never understand why you put up with these pathetic whelps. Let me take control and they will never bother you again." The Beast spoke, malice dripping from it's voice.

"Not gonna happen. I tolerate their teasing because they are my friends. I tease, them, too." He said back. She could tell he was calming down as his growl lessened.

"I can kill them all. We can kill them all. We are better alone. You are better, alone. Remember how we took care of the others who caused you pain? Remember how safe you were after that?" The Beast spoke, tauntingly, almost soothingly. Raven could feel Beast Boy fighting him as he tried to take control.

"No! Stop! You don't get to do that, again. Not now, not ever." Beast Boy replied, almost panicked, as if he was losing control. Looking back through his eyes Raven could see everyone staring at him as he had gone silent and a weird look came over his eyes. She realized, startlingly, that he had nearly lost control that day. Raven tried to mentally soothe him. Reassuring him that he would never hurt them and that he was far too strong to let The Beast win.

Raven wasn't sure if he heard her, but she felt him start to calm down, even though, in the memory, he stormed off to his room. She could feel his anger be replaced by fear as he, too, realized he nearly lost control. Raven simply waited for the memory to take its course as he laid on his back on the bottom bunk of his bed and finished his battle with The Beast.

"You will never win. Not now, not ever." Beast Boy repeated surprisingly sternly. Raven could heard The Beast grumble as his presence temporarily left Beast Boy's mind. She felt his fear after The Beast left and reassured him once again. Still not certain her could hear her.

Raven reasoned he must have, though, seeing as she found herself back in the metallic hallway in his mind, some of the lights gone, replaced by natural sunlight. She looked down the hallway and saw three rooms left. Taking a long moment to relax and enjoy the sunlight while she meditated, Raven realized how taxing this had been on her, and how much more taxing it must have been on Beast boy over the course of the past few days. Feeling immense guilt, Raven tried to bury those feelings as she meditated. She couldn't afford to feel self-loathing right now, she needed to help Beast Boy.

Back in the real world. Cyborg had entered Raven's room after knocking multiple times and receiving no reply. He entered to see Raven and Beast Boy in the same position they had been when Raven first entered his mind. Checking the emergency motion detectors in her room, he realized they had been in that position for nearly five hours. He walked over to them and scanned their vitals. Noting nothing out of the ordinary other than an accelerated heart-rate. He walked away, allowing Raven to do whatever it was she was doing, resolving to check on them every few hours. Cyborg went off to inform Robin about the crime in the city, or lack thereof. He rolled his eyes as he thought about his leader's strict instruction to receive a report twice a day. Entering the common room, Cyborg noted that it was dark and he was late for his meeting. He sighed in exasperation as he connected the Tower supercomputer to Titan's East and saw Robin's irritated face stare back at him.

Author's Note: I had to add Robin in here somewhere. I figured it was only fair. Thanks for the support this far! It means a lot.
