Rosario Vampire Re-Vamped

Chapter sixteen: Moka confronts Draco

Tsukune Aono woke up on one well enough morning a few days after the attack on the city that was carried out by the warband of the now late goblin Hirajo. There was still a fair bit of damage that had to be rebuilt; Tsukune even heard a news report on how a hero high school, Ketsubutsu Academy High School, was severely damaged, thus requiring its student populace to go to other hero high schools to continue their training. And don't even get Tsukune started on the hurricane shitstorm that was Isamu Academy High School.

The human-turned-snow fairy was given so much material thanks to what the media has taken to calling Isamu-gate.

Tsukune thought back to the day of the warmongers' attack; many good people, human and monster alike, were all killed as they fought valiantly to protect those who they held dear. Sure, many, many more warmonger monster fell alongside those whose lives they claimed, and the hordes of Hirajo were unsuccessful in their ultimate goal of killing any members of the Shirayuki family. But good people still died on that day, nonetheless. Even so, there were some reasons to celebrate, with one of the main ones being that the good guys won.

The Aono boy also successfully hooked up with Mizore Shirayuki; you see, every girl in the newspaper club at Azu-Daioh High that Tsukune belongs to wanted to get with him. This also included Mizore, the last girl to have joined, back when everyone was still at Yokai Academy but before it had to evacuate to the human world. Even though Tsukune had known Mizore for barely any length of time at all, compared to all of the other girls who Tsukune has known for a hell of a lot longer.

Tsukune, once he got to have a sit down with the shy snow fairy girl when she was not stalking him, got to know her quite well. From what he got to know about Mizore, Tsukune felt that, out of all of the girls vying for his attention, the shy snow fairy girl was his best option. This was a decision he made back when everyone was still at Yokai Academy, back before everyone had to evacuate to the human world, back before Tsukune ended up getting turned into a snow fairy in the process of being healed at some magic hot springs.

Mizore was by Tsukune's side for pretty much the entirety of the warmongers' attack on the city. They went to the office building that Tsukune's dad works at and Mizore's dad owns, assisted to the top floor by their friend Draco Fireswarm, and stood by the side of Mizore's father Hatsuharu as they faced off against Warlord Hirajo himself. The fight against the fire-flinging goblin leader of the warmonger horde was fierce, and Tsukune even took a hit to his back that otherwise would have gone on to hit Mizore.

Something that Tsukune, with his affection for Mizore growing and being tempered, wouldn't allow under any circumstance.

It was Tsukune himself who killed the goblin warlord of the warmonger horde. It was Tsukune who would go on to be hailed by the monster world as a notable hero for slaying the goblin that threatened to make all that there was his. It was Tsukune, as he held Mizore close to him, who asked the shy snow fairy girl to go out with him and be his girlfriend, a request that Mizore was all too eager to accept. And it was Tsukune who, after taking Mizore back to the Aono residence and up to his room, claimed Mizore's v-card as she claimed his.

…Who would have ever guessed it that Tsukune would (willingly) lose his v-card to his stalker, of all people?

(Over in Konohagakure, Hinata Uzumaki suddenly sneezed.)

Later that morning, Tsukune was making his way over to the burger place located around the corner from Azu-Daioh High. Due to the warmongers' attack, Azu-Daioh High was closed for a few days, mostly to clean up the remains of warmongers that were killed on school grounds when they tried to attack the place. The human-turned-snow fairy understood that he wouldn't be able to see his friends automatically at school, hence why the boys of the newspaper club all decided to meet up at the aforementioned burger place instead.

Tsukune walked along the sidewalk outside of Azu-Daioh High (staying on that sidewalk and making the turn would eventually put him on the same side of the road as the burger place) without a care in the world. After making the turn, Tsukune walked along the side of the school grounds, which would take him past a local public park before he got to the burger place. It was as Tsukune's line of sight came upon the park that he saw something peculiar.

Moka Akashiya, Tsukune's friend slash fellow student and newspaper club member, not to mention the first person Tsukune ever ran into when he first started at Yokai Academy, was wearing a green track suit top and matching pants, a pair of white tennis shoes with stripes on them the same shade of green as the track suit set, and she was currently doing crunches at the public park. The Aono boy did not know what to make of the pink-haired vampire girl clearly in the middle of a serious workout.

He wasn't even sure why Moka was training like that. Perhaps Moka wanted to be as useful in a fight as she is when her Rosario is removed? Maybe someone said she was getting a little chunky in the middle and that compelled her to go on a crazed diet and exercise regimen? Tsukune felt that he had to get to the bottom of this, so when he got up to the park, he made a slight detour from his original goal of the burger place to go into the park instead, and heading straight over to the pink-haired vampire girl.

When he got Moka's attention, Tsukune gestured to her and said in a dry tone, "Care to explain to the rest of the class what you're doing?"

"Oh, Tsukune!" Moka said in a mildly flustered manner upon seeing and hearing the human-turned-snow fairy. Getting up off of the ground, Moka dusted herself off before walking over to Tsukune. "Heh, sorry if you caught me in the middle of my training," the pink-haired vampire girl laughed in a mildly embarrassed manner.

The Aono boy merely crossed his arms over his chest, giving Moka a dry look. "Training for what, may I ask?" Tsukune said, arching a wry eyebrow.

"This is probably going to sound crazy to you…" Moka began with a hint of resignation in her tone.

"Oh boy, as if there wasn't enough on my plate to worry about in the first place," Tsukune thought dryly, dreading whatever cockamamie randomness the pink-haired vampire girl was going to say to him.

Moka, after letting out a sigh, continued, "…But I'm training to fight and defeat Draco."

Tsukune, upon hearing what Moka had just told him, simply stared at her for a few seconds in silence, a look of dumbfounded surprise on his face. He looked as if Kurumu was offering to let him dive face-first into her considerable breasts, an offer that Kurumu has not only made many times in the past before, but had made Tsukune do, and often against his will. The human-turned-snow fairy quickly shook his head, as if he were trying to get ahold of himself.

Pointing to Moka, Tsukune said, "I'm sorry, but did you just say that you were training to defeat Draco who, need I remind you, is a frigg'in dragon?"

"Draco is the person who killed me and Kokoa's older sisters Akua and Kahlua," Moka pointed out, "I have to avenge my sisters, and the only way to do that is to train to defeat Draco."

Tsukune merely sighed before he said, "I thought that you weren't exactly fond of your older sisters because one was the oldest out of all you girls thus was looked upon favorably by your parents, and the other one was the prettiest thus got more male attention than you."

Moka, looking very much guilty, replied, "I know that I've been jealous of all my sisters, even Kokoa since our father doted on her all the time." The pink-haired vampire girl gently shook her head as she looked a bit downwards at the ground before looking back up at Tsukune. "…But they were still my family," Moka went on, "And I have to avenge their deaths."

Gesturing to Moka with his left hand, Tsukune pointed out, "You do also realize that your older sisters were both members of Fairy Tale, a group that was aiming to wipe out all of humanity and whatever good monsters stood in their way?" Lowering his arm, Tsukune continued, "They were just as bad as Hirajo's warband. And yet you want to avenge them by defeating the guy who did the monster world as a whole a huge favor when said guy killed them."

"It's a vampire honor thing, Tsukune," Moka replied firmly, a hint of self-assured pride in her tone, "I wouldn't expect a snow fairy like you to unders-"

*SLAP*

Moka was stunned when Tsukune suddenly slapped her across the face, a look of being offended in his expression. When Moka turned her head back around to face Tsukune, the Aono boy looked very much offended. "…When you stop being a racist twat," Tsukune growled, "And you return to your senses from wanting to do something as stupid as challenge frigg'in Draco to a fight, you can come back then." Lowering the hand that he used to slap Moka, Tsukune said in a cool yet neutral tone, "I'll be more open to talk to you."

Leaving the stunned-into-silence vampire girl like that in the park, Tsukune turned around, left the park, and continued on his original quest to meet up with the lads over at the burger place. Moka, the words and actions that the boy that she still has a crush on (even though he is with another girl) having made her take pause, looked down to the ground in the park she was in. She couldn't believe that Tsukune was as upset with her as he was.

Moka immediately decided that it was Draco's fault, just like how it was his fault that he killed her older sisters despite how they were powerful members of an evil monster organization that would have otherwise done just as bad, if not worse, than what Hirajo and his warband did.

Tsukune was scowling a bit as he hung out with all of the other guys over at an arcade after they got a bite to eat at the burger place earlier. Looking over as Ginei and Haiji tore it up on the dance floor of a dancing game, the human-turned snow fairy was still having trouble processing just what had gotten into Moka. As Tsukune simply stood there leaning against some railing with a fairly troubled look on his face, he was approached by his three human friends Satoshi, Gaku and Ryota.

The three human guys noticed the look on the face of their friend from middle school, their buddy that they all knew back when he was still human himself. Naturally, Satoshi, Gaku and Ryota decided that they had to try and lift Tsukune's spirits. "…Hey Tsukune?" Ryota began, "Buddy, dude? You okay?"

The Aono boy turned his attention to face his friends, flashed them a mild smile that still carried his currently dour attitude. "…Sorry if I've been something of a downer so far today, guys," the human-turned-snow fairy remarked, "But I'm frustrated with Moka right now."

"I take it she tried to flirt with you and make you hers even though she and the other girls all know full well you're with Mizore now?" Satoshi asked.

Gently shaking his head, Tsukune replied, "No, no, that's not it." Sighing, Tsukune said, "You remember what all Ginei, Haiji, Fangfang and Draco explained to us about how it was actually the dragons that wiped out Fairy Tale, and not Hirajo's warband like everyone else had thought, don't you?"

The three humans all nodded in the affirmative. "Yeah, I think Moka and Kokoa had older sisters that were in Fairy Tale, and that they would have taken part in the organization's plans to screw over humanity and all the good monsters," Gaku said.

Nodding in confirmation, Tsukune went on, "I found Moka training in a local park near the burger place we were at earlier. She says that she wants to get strong enough to defeat Draco in a fight so that she can avenge the deaths of her sisters." Growling a bit in offended annoyance, Tsukune continued, "She even had the nerve to say that, since I'm not a vampire, I would have no idea what she was meaning in her efforts to train to defeat Draco."

"Yeah, that sounds like something that would piss me off too," Gaku remarked as he crossed his arms over his chest, drawing nods of agreement from Satoshi and Ryota with his words. As Tsukune and his human friends talked, Draco came walking over to them, having returned from using the bathroom. The dragon had a look of piqued interest when, as he approached them, the four friends from middle school all turned to face him.

The dragon was curious as to what the three humans and one snow fairy were all looking at him for. "…I take it that there's something interesting about me?"

"Draco, this might sound crazy to you," Satoshi began, "But according to our bud Tsukune here, Moka is training to defeat you in a fight."

Draco merely arched a wry eyebrow in response to what he had just been informed about. He crossed his arms over his chest, let out a mildly annoyed sigh. "…And for what reason, might I ask, does Moka seek to defeat me in battle for?"

Tsukune gently shook his head, a sign that he was lost on having a reasonable explanation to offer to his draconic friend. "She's upset that you killed her two older sisters, a pair of vampire girls who were in Fairy Tale."

The dragon lowered his arms from being crossed over his chest. A faint trace of confusion flashed over his features, his face showing slight signs that suggested he just met someone who was not thankful for a huge favor. "…She does realize that, had they not been stopped, her older sisters would have contributed to the efforts of an organization of evil monsters bent on wiping out all of humanity, all that is good, doesn't she?"

Tsukune simply shook his head gently in response. "All she cares about is the fact that two of her sisters are dead. She went on about 'vampiric pride' when I tried explaining to her that her sisters were up to no good while I told her basically the same stuff that you said just now."

"Feh, vampires and their pride." Draco gently shook his head as he crossed his arms over his chest again. "Many peoples from a number of races, not just humans but some monster races as well, only focus on the weaknesses of vampires that can be exploited to defeat, if not slay, them in battle, such as wooden stakes, strands of garlic cloves, holy water, religious symbols and so on." The dragon gave another gentle shake of his head. "…But they overlook the weaknesses that aren't so useful in directly killing a vampire in a fight."

"Like their pride." Tsukune's remark drew a nod of agreement out of Draco.

"You be surprised by how many vampires had actually met their permanent ends due to letting their pride get the best of them," Draco remarked, "There are actually a number of tales where a monster from a much weaker tier than the top tier that vampires are located on were able to kill a vampire, due to the vampire's pride clouding their judgement. A particularly notable example of this is a story that I read in a book of stories while I was in the Yuki-Onna Village that recounts how a goblin was able to slay a vampire."

The human guys all looked a mix of confused and surprised by this revelation. "…A goblin?" Ryota said, "You mean like that asshole that Tsukune killed during the monster attack that took over the whole city?"

Draco gave a simple affirmative nod in response. "Granted, Hirajo was far from a good example of what the average goblin is like, and the story that I mentioned has all the signs that it was an average member of the goblin race that slayed that vampire. But I digress." Draco looked at all four of the guys he was talking to as a whole. "The point that I'm trying to get at is that it could be argued that pride is the biggest weakness of all that a vampire has."

Tsukune and his humans friends exchanged mildly concerned looks with one another, going silent for a few seconds. After that, Tsukune turned his attention to Draco. "…What will you do in the highly likely event that Moka suddenly walked up to you and tries to start something?"

"I'll intimidate her into backing down and dropping the matter for good," Draco replied simply, "I might very well have to do the same if Kokoa tries anything similar to what Moka is gearing up to try and pull off."

"Oh, that's right!" Gaku smacked himself in the forehead with the palm of his right hand. "Kokoa is also a vampire, and she's Moka's little sister!"

"Well here's hoping that I'll have better luck in trying to talk Kokoa down than I did in trying to talk Moka down," Tsukune remarked dryly, somewhat banking on the worry that the younger sister will be just as, if not more, stubborn as the older sister.

To the Aono boy's surprise, not only did Kokoa have no intention to do what Moka was trying to do, but she held no grudge against Draco, realizing and appreciating the fact that what the dragon did for the world at large was a benefit for…well, the world at large. It also helped that Kokoa, sadly enough, had honestly long since lost whatever love and care that she one had for either of her two oldest sisters. Mostly Kahlua who, back when Kokoa was still very young, would tease Kokoa for having that extra chub (Kahlua did not do so not maliciously, mind you, but it still got on Kokoa's nerves).

"Yeah, they would have helped with screwing over the rest of the world had they not been stopped," the youngest vampire sister admitted to Tsukune when he found her and Yukari on their way back from a large bookstore, a shopping bag full of manga graphic novels in Kokoa's right hand. Kokoa gently shook her head as she continued, "I swear, even though Moka is really kickass when she really lets loose, even then she'd get torn to shreds without mercy if she tried to take on a dragon."

"Actually, it's the outer version of Moka that wants to fight Draco," Tsukune pointed out, "I have no idea what Inner Moka's opinion on the matter is."

"Should we stop her?" Yukari asked, a look of worry on her face. Tsukune gently shook his head, explaining to the young witch girl that Draco was fully intending to harmlessly diffuse the matter himself if and when Moka tries to confront him. Yukari looked a bit unsure about what Tsukune told her about the dragon's plan to bring about a peaceful resolution to the matter that was Moka aiming to fight Draco for vengeance.

Kokoa shrugged her shoulders as she sighed in a resigned tone, getting Yukari to turn and face her. "Yukari, girl, trust me when I say that when a vampire's letting their pride do the talking, then nothing short of a monster powerful enough to take them down in a direct fight can get them to stop what they're up to." Jerking her free thumb at herself, Kokoa added, "After all, I myself am a vampire, so I know what I'm talking about."

The worry just wouldn't leave Yukari's expression completely. "…So you're saying that the only way Moka will stop is for someone strong enough to beat her makes her stop by force?" Gently shaking her head, the young witch girl went on, "Don't you remember all of the folks that she defeated? Both back at Yokai Academy and during the monster attack on the city? The only person I can think of who can defeat Moka at this point is the very monster that Moka is aiming to challenge to a fight!"

"Again, Yukari," Tsukune began pointing out, "You're thinking of Inner Moka. As far as any of us are aware, it's just Outer Moka who wants to fight Draco."

Curiosity soon appeared in Kokoa's face. "…That's actually a valid point. Does the strong version of Moka hold the same opinion as the weaker version? How would we even find out about that, short of you removing my sister's Rosario and unleashing her epic power?"

"…About that," Tsukune began, crossing his arms over his chest, "I was thinking about trying to find out how Inner Moka feels about this whole mess." The human-turned-snow fairy let out a mildly resigned sigh. "…And unfortunately, I can't think of any way to find out than to actually remove the Rosario."

With Yukari and Kokoa agreeing to help and stick by him, Tsukune went about gathering who and what he felt he was going to need to question Inner Moka about her opinions concerning Draco killing her two older sisters. In addition to having Kokoa, who is also a vampire, as well as Yukari who being a mage can use magic, Tsukune also got Ruby, a mage much like Yukari but older and with slightly more potent magic, and Mizore who can help him with using the natural ice magic of their race.

Draco, after he was clued in on Tsukune's plan by the Aono boy himself, was also hiding nearby, ready to jump out and quickly subdue Inner Moka if need be.

Yukari, Kokoa, Ruby and Mizore were already at the park where Tsukune found Moka training earlier, and Draco, in his pseudo form, was hiding up in one of the trees. The four girls waited in the open as Tsukune led Moka into the park. "Yeah, I was planning to have you take my Rosario off before I confronted Draco," Moka remarked to Tsukune as the two of the them walked into the park, ":I'm going to need as much power as I can get ahold of before-"

"Girls, now!" Tsukune yelled in the direction of the four waiting girls, cutting Moka off midsentence as he quickly used his ice magic to encase Moka up to her neck in ice, with the effort supplemented by Mizore's efforts. Yukari and Ruby both used magic to conjure arcane rings that surrounded the frozen Moka, with said rings giving off the aura that they were meant to bind Moka from being able to move, as well as sap what energy of hers that they can. Kokoa, after having her pet bat Ko-buddy turn into a staff that resembled a certain staff that's the symbol of a certain guild of forty-one, held the weapon towards her older sister with the intent to whack her with it if need be.

As for the pink-haired vampire girl herself, she looked shocked at what four of her friends and her younger sister were doing. "W-what's going on here?" Moka asked as Tsukune turned to face her.

"We needed to do as much as possible to bind you before I removed your Rosario, in case your inner self has the same intents as you," Tsukune explained as he reached forward, grabbed Moka's Rosario, and yanked it off the choker, unleashing the epic power that was contained on a normal basis. Soon enough, Inner Moka had taken over; although the ice and magic rings were a bit strained, they still held well enough, although Tsukune did note that, if Inner Moka were to struggle enough, she could still bust out.

The silver-haired vampire looked around at her surroundings, taking note of all of the precautions that had been taken to try and bind her. "…This is all because my outer self is dumb enough to want to fight a dragon, isn't it?"

Everyone arched some mildly surprised eyebrows at Inner Moka's remark. "…You mean that you don't want to fight Draco?" Tsukune asked.

"Believe you me," Inner Moka began, "I have no intention to start something that I know I won't emerge victorious from. Besides, unlike my outer self, I myself believe that Draco's actions, as painful for my family as they were, are valid and a benefit for the world at large."

The girls that were helping Tsukune bind Moka could not help but lower their guard somewhat. "…So the whole 'challenge Draco to a fight for vampiric family pride' thing is all on the pink-haired Moka," Ruby said, drawing a nod of agreement out of the bound silver-haired Moka.

Giving her captors a dry look, Inner Moka said in a dry tone, "Now then, I don't suppose you all are convinced enough to let me go, are you?" Still able to tell that Inner Moka could bust out on her one if she really tried, Tsukune was amazed that she still allowed the bindings to keep her captive. He could also tell that what Inner Moka was saying is true, so after telling the girls to do so, they and Tsukune lowered what they had up to bind her.

Inner Moka then held her right hand out to Tsukune. "Now then, if you would be so kind as to return my Rosario, I'm going to let the rest of you try to convince my outer self to cease it with the foolish errand that she seems so set on. If all other efforts fail, then tell Draco that, if need be, he can rough outer me up enough to convince her by force to drop the matter." Tsukune nodded in agreement, then handed the Rosario over to Inner Moka, who wasted no time in putting it back onto her choker.

After the mass vampiric power was sealed up again, Outer Moka was soon returned to control. There was a mildly grumpy, upset look on her face as she regarded everyone. "…So even the other me doesn't want to avenge our family, huh?"

"Moka, if Draco is powerful enough to single-handedly kill both of your older sisters at once," Tsukune began in a firm, starting-to-lose-his-temper kind of tone, "What makes you think that you, especially with your power sealed up, can beat him in a fight on your own? Seriously! You're very lucky that Draco wants to try and make you back down peacefully, and failing that, he essentially has the okay to rough you up a bit until you're convinced that way!"

Moka, once more, looked as if she was going to try to argue that nothing short of her beating Draco in a fight would make her feel better. However, before she got even one word out, Moka perked up when she heard Draco call out from where he hid. "I refuse to apologize for killing two persons that, had they not been stopped, would have gone on to cause serious harm to the world at large, both to humans and good monsters alike."

Draco then jumped out of the tree that he was hiding in, in his pseudo form. Changing back to his regular human form, the dragon began walking up to Tsukune and the girls, his focus on the pink-haired vampire. "…I won't apologize for killing Akua and Kahlua as criminals, but I am willing to apologize for killing the two of them as your sisters, if you're willing to hear the apology out that is." He quickly turned to regard Kokoa, saying, "The apology also extends to you as well, Kokoa."

Tsukune and the girls were surprised by what Draco was doing, trying to apologize to Moka (and Kokoa as well technically) for what he did to her (their) older sisters, as necessary as what he had done was. The look on Moka's face was a mix of emotions, all of them clamoring for being the main one that fueled Moka's thoughts. After a few brief moments, Moka let out a yell as she ran up to Draco and slugged him right in his left eye.

Draco simply stood there, doing nothing to retaliate as Moka's fist remained in his eye. Moka pulled her fist back, saw that all of her efforts had done absolutely nothing to the dragon. After a few tense moments passed in silence, Tsukune and the girls all perked up a bit in interest when Moka actually began to laugh. "…Yeah, I had a mild suspicion in the back of my head all this time that I was never going to actually beat you," Moka began, "Sorry about punching you just now, but I just had to do something cathartic to feel better."

Draco merely smiled a bit, nodding his head once in understanding. "I guess you just need to get everything out of your system, is all." Moka nodded in agreement, a few tears running down the sides of her face from her eyes as feelings of relief began to flood her, overwhelm her to a bit of an extent. For his part as he watched all of this unfold, Tsukune was glad that Moka was finally letting go of a grudge that, for the most part, she would never be able to settle outright.

Later, Tsukune met up again with Satoshi, Gaku and Ryota, his human friends. The monster boys all took their leave for the day, so it was just Tsukune and his old friends from middle school. As a side note, Mizore tagged along with her boyfriend. "…So Draco just stood there and let Moka punch him a few times until she felt good enough to stop?" Satoshi asked as he raised an arched eyebrow.

The human-turned-snow fairy nodded once in the affirmative. "I guess it was one of the peaceful options Draco had to diffuse the situation. It helped that Draco was not harmed in the least by any of Moka's attacks on him, so he can very easily take hits from Moka all day until she wore herself out from the effort."

"Hey, since we got all of that stuff taken care of," Mizore began as she turned to face Tsukune, "Why don't we talk about the field trip we're taking next week to visit U.A. High School?"

"Oh yeah," Satoshi remarked with a snap of his fingers, "They're having some sort of school festival that's going to cover the lot of their campus, and they're letting other high schools come on in to visit and have fun." Looking at everyone else sitting with him, Satoshi said, "Sounds like something that Ginei will want us to do some articles on for our school's newspaper."

Tsukune nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that sounds like Ginei, alright." The Aono boy gave a shrug before continuing, "Still, you can't blame him. I mean, U.A. is the top hero high school in Japan, and they're letting Azu-Daioh High, a regular public high school, visit. Our school's student body is composed of quirkless humans."

"Plus monsters who, although also quirkless, have various powers anyway due to their varying monster biologies," Mizore pointed out, drawing a nod of agreement from the boys.

Tsukune stretched his arms into the air as he said, "Well, there's only one way to find out how things will go during the field trip next week."

END, CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Author's notes;

This chapter might be a bit short compared to the others thus far, but I still feel that I was able to do enough to cover how Moka feels about discovering that Draco was the one really responsible for the killings of her older sisters all that time ago. I also added the bits of Kokoa and Inner Moka understanding and holding no grudge to try to add depth to the whole ordeal that took up this chapter as a whole; not sure if I did it as well as I'm hoping, but there's only one way to find out how I did, I suppose. Anyway, the next chapter will tie into a mini-arc that'll start up in my BNHA story 'A couple that will go down in legend' really soon, so keep an eye out for that cross event.
