Chapter 39: Out of the Forest
Meanwhile, Vanessa had enjoyed and finally grown tired of palace life. There was only so many times a girl could eat delicious food, wear nice dresses, and enjoy the palace gardens. She had woken up super early due to the excitement of living in a palace that she actually left the luxurious bed at dawn.
This was the first time she actually felt exhausted from having so much free time on her hands. She wanted to read books, but she wasn't allowed to because she needed the prince's permission.
Seeing that Vanessa was bored, Mrs. Potts told her that the prince wasn't as bad as he seemed the other day. The prince was just a workaholic which was why he lacked experience in his love life and wanted to be in love with a beautiful lady.
Hearing this, Vanessa was reminded about Belle and remembered her mission. She tried to slip out when no one was near her but unfortunately, the moment she tried to take one step out of the palace grounds, wolves suddenly appeared from behind the trees!
Vanessa widened her eyes in fear and froze for it wasn't just some wolves behind the trees, it was a whole pack of them! She noticed that the wolves were staring at her intensely, watching her to see if she would make another move. They tried to approach her which made Vanessa slowly take some steps back. The wolves continued looking at her before returning to the forest.
Vanessa fell to her butt and took some deep breaths. Her whole body shook with fear. The whole experience was terrifying. But, once her mind was clearer, she dared to think about escaping again for the sake of Belle and Prince Adam's romance and for the sake of the world.
She thought 'How are you going to get out of here Vanessa?'
Her silly mind thought of Inuyasha and that if he was here, he could easily fight the wolves. Thinking about Inuyasha made her realize that if the wolves tried to approach her, she could push them away with her power!
She noticed a long, big stick laying on the ground and realized that she could use a spell she learned recently from camp to help her escape! Levitation!
Vanessa said out loud "Alright Vanessa. It's time to fly like a witch. ...I hope I get this right."
"I need to get there safely like a captain steering a boat so into the air, let me float!"
Amazingly, it worked! Her Dad was a levitator after all and she flew before. Well, in her dreams. She flew on the stick into the air and she could see that the ground was surrounded by wolves.
The wolves' expressions were hilarious! Their jaws were hanging out. Seeing that, Vanessa felt a little cocky and said "Ha, ha. You dumb wolves. You can't catch me from up here, now can't ya!"
The wolves seemed to understand Vanessa's statement and began to growl and even tried to jump up at her.
"Oh sh*t!" Vanessa quickly said, "You're a good flier but we need to go higher!"
Unfortunately, her magic was still at a beginner's level so instead of going higher like she wanted, the stick bobbed up and down which made her frightened.
She clenched her teeth and slid her body forward, hoping the stick would somehow move faster. But, unfortunately, the wolves kept chasing her.
She kept flying until she saw a dead tree with nothing surrounding it and snow-covered grounds. "Brr…"
She was tired and to add to that, she felt cold, so she had no choice but to land on top of the tree branches. She was breathing heavily and shivering. When she dared to look down, she noticed the wolves surrounded the tree on the ground and they began howling.
Vanessa shivered again and tried to think of a way to escape the wolves. While she was pondering, a female scream pierced the air. Before she could react, a bunch of snow fell on top of her and almost made her fall.
She brushed the snow off her body then she heard a thud. Something fell onto the branch near her. When she took a closer look, the girl near her seemed familiar…
A yell was heard "Belle!"
When Vanessa looked up, she finally found her missing companions! Angel and Sakura was looking down from the cliff with relieved expressions.
Vanessa exclaimed "Angel! Sakura!"
In Sakura's excitement, she slipped down from the cliff and tried to grab onto Angel which made both girls fall!
Fortunately, both fell onto the tree.
Vanessa asked "What happened? And who is that?"
Sakura replied "That's Belle! We got chased by wolves… And… How is she?"
Vanessa carefully climbed onto the next branch and saw that Belle got hit in the head and that she was bleeding.
"Not good! She's bleeding in the head!"
Luna got onto the branch where Belle and Vanessa were at. Luna put her paws over Belle's forehead, healing the wound. Luna then turned into a giant panther and growled.
Angel exclaimed "She wants you to put Belle on her back! We're going back to the village!"
Vanessa carefully placed Belle onto Luna's back. Luna teleported her along with Belle on her back onto the ground. The wolves backed away from them.
Luna growled and Angel replied, "We need to use the levitation spell. The wolves won't dare get near Luna, but they can still come after us."
Vanessa replied "I just used the levitation spell… I don't think I have enough power to do it again."
"I'll do it." Angel took off her hood and recited the spell, making her hood float in midair. Angel sat on the floating hood then turned to her companions "Get on."
Sakura said "Ooh. ~ Like a magic carpet."
Vanessa and Sakura stepped on. Sakura held Vanessa around her belly then Vanessa held Angel around her belly. Holding each other helped them keep warm somewhat as they flew in the sky while Luna ran on the ground with Belle on her back.
When they got back to the house, it was night. Maurice finally got home and was waiting for Belle when he heard the front door open. He went outside to look and saw a group of shadow figures. When he got closer, he saw two black haired girls, two Belles, and a big black animal!
He was shocked then immediately fainted. Vanessa and Angel dragged him back into the house and put him back in his room. They tucked Belle in her bed then quietly retreated to the guest room.
The bed was small, but it was long, so they managed to fit by lying on the bed sideways. However, they were still on edge after leaving the forest, so they decided to discuss what happened while they were separated which allowed them to gather how the story was distorted so far.
Angel, Luna, and Vanessa were so focused on their discussion regarding their next move that they didn't notice Sakura coming in with a handful of food. She had snuck off during the meeting.
Sakura said, "Hey, you can't work on an empty stomach. Want some?"
Their tummies growled and after the meal, they finally felt relaxed enough to sleep.
Meanwhile, Belle had a nightmare...
