Chapter Forty-Five
Liam got the message early in the morning, Henrietta rang him and asked him to tell David that she wasn't going to court. Which is why he was at his shop as he passed on the message to him, making him sigh with relief. Leyla was currently holding Erica in her arms, she managed to get her head around it now and was happy to help. The baby was only innocent after all.
"Thank you...She's still banned though, I'm not having them near her" David told the man firmly, he was sticking with that.
"At least Henrietta isn't taking you to court" Leyla told him; trying to cheer him up.
"For now, that family changes their mind constantly. I just want them to leave me alone" David replied.
"Whatever, you got the upper hand no matter what. Remember that"
"Not when it comes to Jacob I haven't, he can barely look at me these days. I think he's just waiting to turn 18 so he can go"
"What makes you say that?"
"It's obvious Leyla...He said he loves her more then he loves me and he doesn't care that she took the girls. You know that" David reminded her.
"I won't let him"
"Try stopping him then...Go on, go and talk to him about it. He will either lie to your face or treat you like you don't matter"
"Take Erica please" Leyla suggested.
"Why? What are you going to do?" David questioned as he took her from her. Sitting down on the stool.
"I'm going to go round to grandma's" Leyla confessed; referring to Henrietta's. She knew that's where Maya was currently residing.
Leaving David and Liam to just look at each other.
...
Getting in her car, Leyla drove all the way to Henrietta's. She just put her address in the sat nav and off she went. She was getting rather sick of waiting around and worrying about the future, if Maya was waiting for Jacob turn eighteen then she wanted to know. She didn't expect her to admit it but she thinks she will know by her face the moment she asks her. So parking outside the house, Leyla began walking up the small pathway and banged on the front door, making a rather confused Henrietta open it...
"Is she in?" Leyla demanded to know.
"Who?"
"Don't play dumb, you know who I'm talking about"
"Look, we don't want any trouble. So just make your way back home and we can just move on"
"I wish I could move on but I need to talk to her first so move out my way. Don't make me force my way in because I will" Leyla warned.
After a moment's hesitation, Henrietta moved to the side to let her in. She didn't blame her, she was exactly the same with Ethan. She actually told her she was upstairs in her bedroom, second door down the hall. Leyla just giving a nod as she made her way up there, calling...
"Maya!"
She barged into the bedroom the moment she got to it. Maya looking like a deer caught in the headlights. Leyla wasn't here to fight, she just wanted to warn her to stay away from Jacob. She never wanted her near him ever again, she was caught slightly off guard though by the look of the bedroom...
"What do you want?" Maya asked her.
"Have you still been contacting Jacob?"
"What? No...I'm not even allowed my own phone, Leyla. So unless we got telekinesis, we couldn't have possibly"
Even hearing her say 'we' in regards to her son made Leyla feel a bit sick. She didn't want to but she had to take her word for it. Leyla just looked around the room a bit more, her eyes going on her school uniform.
"This use to be yours?" Leyla asked her simply.
"Yes"
"If a forty year old man decided he wanted ya while you were wearing this, would you have though that was normal?"
"Depends"
This made Leyla scoff.
"Wrong answer Maya...Now you just listen to me very carefully, you don't see Jacob again. If he tries to contact you, blank him. Just don't make him think theres's a future between you two"
"Leyla, I already told you...I haven't seen him since I got sent down" Maya lied.
"Okay but I'm saying, if you happen to see him then blank him. You're a mother yourself, in fifteen or sixteen years time. If some man takes advantage of her then you might understand why I hate you so much"
"I didn't take advantage-"
"Oh Maya! Even now, you just keep on defending yourself! You're lucky I haven't ripped you to shreds...Look at ya now, living with your mum and not being able to see your baby. Will nothing make you see the damage you have caused?!"
"You caused the damage, Leyla! I was keeping Jacob on the straight and narrow, he was going to do so well in his exams because of me and you just didn't like that, did you?!"
"You what?!" Leyla asked in disbelief.
"Just get out my room!"
"You're disgusting! I came here to see if you understood but you don't. Seriously, just don't you dare go near him again otherwise I will not let you walk away like last time!" Leyla hissed.
"Okay"
The simple reply 'okay' caught Leyla off guard slightly. She just gave her a glare, making her way out and down the stairs again.
"What happened?" Henrietta questioned her.
"I just passed on a message" Leyla simply told her.
...
"She was awful to me, Jacob. Hitting me and calling me all names under the sun" Maya lied to Jacob with false tears.
She managed to get out and was at a nearby phone-box. Leyla of cause did nothing of the sort but she wanted Jacob to think she was being awful. Most would say Leyla was too soft on her.
"Oh Maya, I'm so sorry...I wish they would leave us alone" Jacob replied, he believed everything she said.
"Can you please meet me tonight? I will let you in my window, please Jacob. I just want to be close to you"
She was currently craving his attention despite it being very wrong. The lad was sadly keen to come.
"Yeah! But what about your mum?" Jacob asked.
"Forget her, just come in quietly...I erm...My cousin use to do it sometimes, just to visit me and he never got caught so it's fine"
Jacob gave a small sigh, this cousin kept coming up. Unlike Maya, he could see something wrong. Though he couldn't do anything about it and both of them denied it but he knew something must have gone on. Yet he didn't wish to question her over the phone so he bit his tongue.
"Okay Maya, what time?" Jacob questioned with a small sigh.
"About midnight...She will be asleep by then"
"Sure, I will make another excuse to granddad"
"Oh good, I can't wait"
So yes, Leyla's visit proved nothing. It only embolden her to keep him close because she wanted him under her control.
