Words Aren't Enough

Chapter 41

The lights in the delivery room were bright. I made up a playlist to listen while i was in labor thinking that would matter as if i could use it to distract myself from the fear and pain.

I had no make up on my face. Hadn't slept or eaten in 24 hours. Why had i not agreed to get an epidural. I regret that now.

The nurse announced i was ten centimers dilated.

It was time to get the show on the road. My doctor said. Closing the door to the delivery room.

I squeezed Lucas's hand tighter and tighter each time a contraction overtook my entire body. I was sure i would break it at some point. But he was just loving and supportive. Telling me how much he loved me and how strong i was.

I was hot, sweaty, and exhausted. As the hours passed by labor seemed to never end.

When i heard the words "I can see the head. Just one more push." My doctor said.

I barred down with all the strength i had left. And pushed. Laying back down on the bed. Catching my breath as loud crying filled the room.

Lucas's face softened. "You did it. He's here. Our little boy." He said. The emotion in his voice thick.

Tears fell from my eyes. As the doctor handed me our baby.

Once i held him in my arms. He instantly quieted.

I locked eyes with him. My heart feeling so full.

He was perfect. He had my eyes and Lucas's blond hair.

"You're daddy and i love you so much. Welcome to the world Benjamin Logan Scott." Brooke said.

3 Years Later

Astrid gazed at herself in the mirror. She had bought all the materials needed from the school list. Tommorow would be her first day at Tree Hill high school as a junior. She had spent the last two years finishing up her homeschooling. She would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous but beyond that she was excited and had hope for this new school year.

"Lydia Scott it's have preschool in the morning. For you too Benji." Brooke said. Taking ahold of both the children's hands. As they walked through the hallway.

"Momma i don't wanna go to sleep. I go to school with Lydia." Benjamin proclaimed. Pouting.

"Not until next year. My little guy. I'll tuck in the two of you then go check on you're big brother." She said. Leading the way towards their bedrooms.

...

"You're aunt Brooke and I will be easily able to be contacted if you need it. We double checked you're school list is there anything else you think you need or want.?" Lucas asked. Looking to his nephew.

A now 7 year old Jamie stared back at his uncle.

"Not to go to school tommorow. Can't i just hang out here or go to the store with aunt Brooke.?" Jamie asked.

"No you can't. School is important Jamie you can't just check out when you want too. Five more minutes then time for bed." Lucas said. Before he left the room.

Jamie sighed out of frustration. And threw his empty backpack across the room.
